SPA 525G2 / SPA509G German Character missing ä,ö,ü

Hello Cummunity.
Our SPA 509G and SPA 525G2 doens't display the german character ä, ö and ü. The Personal Addressbook looks like this:
"PersÄ¶önliche Kurzwahl" insted of "Persönliche Kurzwahl".
Installation was done with CCA.
How do i fix that ?

I saw on the download section of the SPA525G2 that there is another file to download called IP Phones DictionariesSPA_IPPHONE_Dictionary_7.5.4.zip. Should i download and install that too on the UC ?
Is this maybe the problem.

Hi friends,
The problem i'm facing..like in XML output i'm getting German Character(ü) however i can not get the output in PDF preview .
So as per suggestion i have checked the steps :
Under $COMMON_TOP/util/java/1.4/j2sdk1.4.2_04/jre/lib/fonts path the necessary ttf files are present. Those Files are
1. ALBANYWT.ttf - "single-byte" characters only
2. ALBANWTJ.ttf - Unicode font with Japanese
3. ALBANWTK.ttf - Unicode font with Korean Han
4. ALBANWTS.ttf - Unicode font with Simplified Chinese
5. ALBANWTT.ttf - Unicode font with Traditional Chinese Han Ideographs
6. ADUO.ttf and ADUOB.ttf (Support German Font)

Thanks a lot for the reply. I just generate the data file (XML data) without attaching the Template with concurrent report program. I don't know the set up for UTF8 (6-Byte) character.
Can i change it from 6-byte to 8 or 16 byte UTF8..?

German character set issues on Solaris

Hi,
I am facing an issue with German character settings with my Java application on a solaris box.
When I run my application on the box, and I pass an input file with German special characters they get converted as ?. However, other normal English characters are formed properly.
When I run the same application on another Solaris box with a different JRE, the German characters are formed properly.
I understand that there is a difference in the archiecture between the 2 boxes ie.e
64 bit SPARC machine v/s 32 bit x86 machine
the JRE
1.4.2_03(64bit) v/s 1.4.1_01
I am tryinbg to evaludate further differences between the 2 environments to pinpoint the issue, and get this resolved on the 1st box.
Can anyone provide me any inputs?

When you read the file, please point out what character set using. For example:

PS to PDF generation character missing

Hi
We have used 3b2 centralized server, each and every user will access the server and generating the ps files. While doing this ps to pdf generation, some time the character missing. Again we do make the same ps to pdf the text is there.
Because of this we are facing lot of problems. Could you please look into this matter as a matter of urgency.

If you are having them print a PS file to the server and using Acrobat (or Distiller) for the conversion, you should read the EULA. Acrobat is not licensed for use on a server (including Distiller). For server use you should be looking at the Distiller Server.
In terms of the problems, they should probably be embedded the fonts in their PS files if the server does not have the fonts they are using.

SPA-525G2 Multicast/Speed Dial Issue

One of our customers reported some severe issues after we placed a speed dial button on their attendant consoles for their multicast paging group. Whenever they received an incoming call or placed an outgoing call, both streams of audio would play through the multicast group. Removing the speed dial button resolved the issue, however they are still requesting that particular feature.
I've reproduced the issue in a lab setting, using two 525G2s and one 504G, all with attendant consoles. The paging group is using 239.123.123.121, port 10000, number 1150 and the speed dial button can be placed on the phone or on the attendant console. I previously used 224.123.123.121, port 60000, but tried a combination of port/address changes that were inneffective. Initially I was using firmware version 7.4.8, but then upgraded to 7.4.9a, then to 7.4.9c, but this did not alleviate the issue.
As it stands, the issue will NOT present itself until the paging speed dial button is first used after either a reboot or a resync. The issue does not occur if the paging group is dialed directly and it only seems to happen on the SPA-525G2. The 504G will not activate multicast under these circumstances.
After the button is used, any incoming call will cause the 525s to multicast packets, even if the call is just ringing and not being answered. Conversely, simply engaging the line by picking up the handset or pressing the speakerphone button will activate multicast.
Has anyone come across this issue previously? I've searched the forum and Google, but haven't found any information thus far.

Have same exact issue with 525G2 + sidecar on 7.4.9c firmware. Problem only occurs if Page soft key or Page speed dial key is set up for page. Problem does not happen on 525G2 without a sidecar. Page uses multicast IP and Port to their lines in the page group. After using the button, every subsequent inbound and outbound call is multicast to all members of the page group. Pretty nasty issue.

Multiple extensions on SPA 525g2

Hi Guys,
We do have Cisco SPA 525g2 configured with 3 extensions. Line 1 works perfectly just fine (no issue at all). But with the use of the OTHER LINES, i can't seem to make it work. Registrations seems to be fine, audio works for a few times at first but after that no audio at all. I do have tried resetting it to factory default and set it up again but no changes.
On Line 1, the audio works but the rest of the line have no audio.
Any advise??? Please help.

Little confused still by this, just want to make sure I'm clear. My current set up with Asterisk is you make users which are extensions, and then enable voicemail on them, so for example:
Extension 300 - Voicemail enabled
Extension 301 - Voicemail enabled
Extension 302 - No Voicemail
Etc. And it's there that you set the username/password for each extension. So on a SIP phone, under Line 1 registration I'd have it register Extension 300, and line 2 could register Extension 301 and so on. If someone calls extension 300, line 1 rings and if no answer goes to the voicemail box for 300. If someone calls Extension 301, then line 2 on the phone rings and if no answer goes to voicemail for Line 2.
I do understand what you mean how each phone is it's own "User", and so the way I have it set up now is my 7970 is my user, and it has Extension 300 with voicemail assigned to Button 1 which works fine.
I just simply need a way so that Extension 301 shows up on Button 2 on the phone, so that I can select that line to make an outbound call (with a different caller ID), and if someone calls Extension 301, then that line on my phone with also ring, BUT will go to the voicemail box for 301. I don't need my 7970 to light up that there's a vm or anything like that, it just needs to capture the vm.
If I make a floating extension or extension mobility for a new user with extension 301 and enable voicemail, then calling 301 does go to its voicemail box, but I'm just not sure how I would have that show up on my 7970 as line 2 and ring on there and make outbound calls on there as well. but in my report some junk characters are coming.
what i have to do ?

You have to set the NLS_LANG-variable to an appropiate value (e.g. GERMN_GERMANY.WE8ISO8859P15). This should be done on the developers-pc in the registry and has to be done on the application-server where you run your report.

Tab character missing in the end of the line in file2file scenario?

Hi,gurus:
Our scenario is file to file,and both transport protocols are FTP.
We are using content conversion both in sender and recevier side.
But when we test the scenario,we found the tab character('0x09') is missing if the tab character is in the end of a line.
Can you tell me how to keep these tab characters the same as sender file?

ps: in the content conversion,the parameter fieldSeparator and endSeparator are both '0x0A'.

German character in the file path and failure to compile jsp

Hi,
a customer of mine has installed our product which embeds the tomcat server in a path which contains a german characters ouside the standard en characters (_��), this results in failure to compile the jsp pages, even the example pages that comes with tomcat are failing to compile.
for example if i try to open the numguess.jsp, it fails to compile the file..
Any help greatlly appriciated..

If your server is running on a Unix derivate, the system might well have UTF-8 by default. Or you might even erroneously have stated in your JSP that it is UTF-8.
If the JSP is ISO-8859-1 (German), then jsp compilation cannot read it (as UTF-8), as illegal multibyte character sequences occur.
Require your customer to save everything as UTF-8, which has its advantages, should the customer go multilingual (Greek, Polish, Bulgarian, Spanish).

First character missing sometimes when i type

it doesn't happen all the time but when i type something the first letter is missing iv'e noticed it mainly happening in safari

hmm, mine seems to be fixed
history: ever since 10.4.3 the first character typed after an idle period doesn't register, tried combo updater, 10.4.4, blah blah, problem got more/less frequent but still hit several times a day
three days ago by chance i ran disk utility and selected "verify disk", it said i had an "illegal name" and bailed, booting the tiger dvd and running disk utility could not fix it, nor could booting single user und using fsck
some surfing turned up an issue linked to vietnamese characters in filenames that are installed as part of adobe creative suite 2 (and also in some standalone cs2 apps)
this causes problems that once present can eventually result in serious damage to the disk structure, disk warrior was cited as being able to detect/fix the damage (apparently several other similar apps will not do it)
two days ago i got dw, it showed several of the adobe-linked issues as well as a few other (imho minor) things, it fixed the disk
since then the missing keystroke problem seems to be fixed too
maybe this is just chance, maybe the zillion reboots did it, maybe starting single user did it, could be anything really
so i decided to carry out the ultimate test and tempt fate by posting that mine seems ok now
i'm not suggesting dw fixes the missing keystroke, but if you have any adobe cs2 apps it might be worth seeing if disk utility shows any issues when you choose the "verify disk" option

Character missing when embedding font

I have a movie in wich text is loaded dynamically. I load the
fonts from an use a swf in wich the font is embedded and import
that into the main movie. The text is loaded based on language
choice.
But now i come to the hungary this one character: "ő"
doesn't show up.
So i recreated the font swf to include this character but it
still doesn't work. This character is still missing. It's driving
me crazy...
I found out that it might have to do with the loaded language
and settings from the OS. But i am not shure what to do exactly.
Can anyone help me out please...

Sorry respondplease , thanks for you response but that was
not my problem.
I already had the font embedded and linked. It was just that
i couldn't get this one character into the flash movie.
Finally i succeeded by installing support for certain
languages, and then setting the language of my machine to this
language and reboot(!)
Then after the reboot launch flash and publish the font movie
again. That did the trick. I have the font loaded in a sepperate
fontfile/movie (swfmovie).
It has to do with the system only loading the first 250
characters or so from a font The character i needed was out of this
range

Chinese Hanin IM character missing

Hi all,
I ran into some trouble with this one character i wanted to input. it is 噢 and is in pinyin ou4 but with hanin it is suggested in the input finder as ㄡ with fourth tone. It does not show up in the possible characters list. It just seems to be missing. Does anyone know why? And how i can solve this problem? Code Input finder finds it, but when i try it it just doesn't work.
Any insight appreciated, thanks. If anything is there a way to add the character to the possible list manually?

Do you mean the Character Palette? It's at Unicode 5662 and you should be able to input it without problem.

UC320w SPA 525g2 background image

Does anyone know how you can add your own custom background image to the spa525g2? Before upgrading to the uc320w the spa9000 let you easily log into the spa525g2 web interface and downloand an image for you screen, now with the uc320w that part is grayed out and unavailable for change. Don't know why this seems to be so difficult. If anyone has a way to download an image to this phone to use a your main screen please let me know. Thanks

Just got back from cisco tech here are the steps in case anyone is interested in how to upload a picture via usb to the spa525 or spa525g2
If you are going to use a picture from the USB memory device, perform the
following steps:
STEP 1 Connect a USB storage device to your PC.
STEP 2 Create a directory named “pictures” on the USB device and copy the image files
into that directory. Image files must be between 30K and 300K in size. The phone
can only read 45 images from the USB device.
STEP 3 Remove the USB device from your PC and insert it into the USB slot on the Cisco
SPA 525G/525G2.
To change the background picture on your phone:
STEP 1 Press the Setup button.
STEP 2 Scroll to User Preferences and press Select.
STEP 3 Scroll to Screen Preferences and press Select.
STEP 4 Scroll to Wallpaper. Press the Right Arrow key to select an image to use as the
wallpaper.
STEP 5 Use the navigation arrows to choose an image. Press Select to choose the image,
or to preview how the image will look on your phone, select the image and press
View. Press Select to choose the image, or use the Previous, Next, and Back keys.
STEP 6 Press Save.

German character 'ß' in wifi password - unable to connect!

Hi,
Any help would be appreciated - 3 trips to Apple stores today and still no luck! I'm trying to connect my Macbook Air to a wifi network that contains a 'ß' in it's password.
Is there anyway to get around this glitch? I'm using the German keyboard layout and have no problems inserting that character into finder, text edit etc - it just won't allow me to type it into the password dialog box.

Probem sending mail with german character

I have the problem sending the mails using special characters in content, like � �. At mail client end i am getting ???? in place of this special characters.
I tried using ISO-8859-1 character set but giving same problem. Please, Could you help me in uderstanding the problem.

Hi i tried that too..i am getting the same result in yahoo as in Lotus note..
to illustrate the problem..
i have the string strBody in which i am reading the information submitted by user. For testing i tried to write this to file using
fos.write(strBody.getBytes("ISO-8859-1")); //gave me correct result
fos.write(strBody.getBytes()); //got garbage characters
In Mimeutility class i read that
to get the actual bytes of a mail-safe String (say, for sending over SMTP), one must do
byte[] bytes = string.getBytes("iso-8859-1");
Is this is something i am missing in my program? if yes, then how to send this bytes?
Creating the message should not be a problem,we have
done that with Tomcat and also succeesfully for
east-asian characters.Do one more test, send the mails
to yahoo and see if you get the correct text. This is
just to eliminate the possibility that Lotus Notes is
not behaving badly. Make sure you have the correct
font installed.
