Spa112 slowing down internet

Hello, yesterday i installed a new SPA112 on my lan and as soon as i make a call, internet slows down to a point that its almost impossible to access any website...
This happens on all pcs on the lan, wired or wireless...
Is there something i have to configure over SIP parameters or anything else??
Been using xtalk and had no problem at all, so my isp connection is fine....

It's about your priorities. It seems that your outgoing bandwidth is not sufficient for both VoIP audio and "casual networking". With QoS the voice quality has been preferred over other traffic, now the priority is equal so network transfers may distort the voice or broke it at all.
Unless you are ready that the calls may be poor quality or interrupted at all you should use QoS.
If your line is so slow to take current codec requirements you may decide to prefer other audio codec and turn QoS back. Codec requiring less bandwidth will not affect your other network operations as much as current codec, but QoS will maintain your audio undistorted.
Ask your VoIP provider for list of codecs supported.
See Bandwidth consumption page for a codec bandwidth requirement (NEB is the column you are interested in).

can the wireless card in my mac wear out and slow down internet connection??

Yes the WiFi card can wear out but not what you would really call wearing out like a pair of pants do. It can start to fail causing the connection between your computer and your Wifi router to slow down, IE transmit and receive less data in a given time period. And then it will fail completely.
But as to your internet connection being affected by a failing WiFi card no that can't happen.
If you turn the WiFi off and connect the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable does your internet browsing and downloading speed increase? If it does then there may be something wrong with the WiFi card in your computer or the WiFi section of your router. Hard to say which.
If after connecting the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable and your speeds do not increase then it is a problem with the router or on your ISPs end.

  • Linksys Wireless Router Slowing Down Internet

Hi, I currently have Optimum Online boost through cablevision. I noticed I wasn't getting speeds anywhere near what Optimum stated my plan includes so I called them up. After troubleshooting they asked me to connect the cable modem directly into my laptop(bypassing the router) and run a speed test and then do the same speed test when accessing internet over the wireless router. The results of this showed that the wireless router was significantly slowing down my internet connection. I currently have a Linksys WRT54G V6 with firmware: v1.00.7, Feb. 16, 2006. Anyone have any ideas what in the router is slowing me down. FYI I am very close to the wireless router(excellent connection) with no interference around(my laptop and a dekstop are the only thing connected to the router) and I have tested this on multiple laptops wirelessly and it all shows that something in the router is slowing this down. MAC Filtering is disabled and the encryption is WPA - Personal AES-CCMP. Thanks! Hope someone can help. ppc

  • Help! iOS 6 slows down internet! Downgrade iOS 6 to iOS 5?

Ever since I upgraded to iOS6, my iPad 2 Wifi became very buggy, internet somehow slows down considreably. Facetime, in particular, gets interrupted by a black screen with "poor connection" message frequently.
I have a 2Mbps internet, yes it's slow by worldwide standard, but it was adequate to do facetime video chat in iOS5, I had no problem whatsoever then, this only started after I upgraded to iOS6.
And it's not a connection issue, I've checked and rechecked. My other devices works fine with the same connection. ****, I can do HD 720p Skype video chat very smoothly on my laptop with the same 2Mbps connection, but somehow VGA resolution video chat on facetime is choppy?
I thought things would eventually get better with more upgrades, so I kept upgrading. 2 weeks ago, I upgraded to the latest 6.1.3, and facetime somehow got worse, black screens with "poor connection" seem to appear every 5-10 seconds.
I have spent the last 4 months trying to find solution to this "poor connection" issue. I have tried all the suggestions I could find on the net, I have reset my router, reset my iPad's network settings, change the date, etc. But nothing seems to work!
I'm fed up, I tried to downgrade my iPad back to iOS5 today. I just found out that Apple blocks us from doing so and it's impossible to do without jailbreaaking my iPad? Is there no legal way to downgrade to previous version? I feel that iOS6 is inferior to iOS5.
If there isn't, is there any other way to fix this poor connection issue? Please tell me something I don't know. It feels like I've read and tried every solution on the net and nothing seems to work.

The problem likely lies in your router regardless of whether other devices aren't displaying it. I use Facetime with iOS 6.1.3 and a 2 mbps internet connection without a problem.
Check for a setting for QoS in your router and turn it OFF. Also check for WMM.
I you need more help please give the make, model and version of your WiFi router.

  • Shockwave flash object add-on slowing down Internet Explorer

Hi Greetings for the day. Have you guys ever heard that the Shockwave flash object add-on is slowing down IE? I noticed this happens in all IE versions and it doesn't matter which OS you are using. I am a technician myself and I work for AT&T Connectech and experienced this issue on different computers a hundred times at least. With the shockwave add-on enabled, IE will take more than 5-10 minutes just to load Google website or it will not at all. The cursor will just keep spinning. If we go to add-ons and disable Shockwave Flash Object, everything will load as it is supposed to.
However, if we disable shockwave add-on, the user will no longer be able to play any online videos or do anything that required flash player. I have tried reinstalling Adobe Flash Player with its different versions and none helped. Sometimes, downgrading the Internet Explorer would correct the problem. In most instances it too failed. If you guys have any information on this and how to resolve it, please mail me. Thanks and regards

Pat and Mike, thank you for your responses. This issue look strange to me as well! No, there are no processes taking much space. In most cases, the CPU usage will be less than 15-20%. In few instances, I noticed svhost is taking more space. Still, IE could not load any websites. I mentioned that Google thing since even if Google doesn't require flash, it still takes for ever to load with the flash addon enabled.
I started to notice this almost an year ago. What we would do is either disable shockwave addon and educate the user about the same and install another browser for backup.

  • 19 working fine, downloaded 20 - it crashes frequently, hogs memory, runs scripts and slows down internet. I don't want a fix, just reinstall 19

FF 19 was working fine. Downloaded 20 and within 5 mins. it crashed. Script running problems again and it slows down my internet connection tremendously. I don't want to fix it, I want to go back to FF 19 but can't find it - it doesn't exist Running XP SP 3. If I can't go back to FF 19, then I'll just remove it and stick with Chrome. I like the old private browser in FF 19 better. I run 20 - 40 tabs open at a time and the way the new Private browser works with the existing window open just uses more memory Thanks!

  • Airport Time Capsule slows down internet speed while uploading app

    Hi All,
Internet speed is going down drastically when I am submitting any iOS app to iTunes Connect.
Previously it was not like this.
I have updated my Macbook Pro to Mavericks and using Airport Time Capsule for wi-fi connection.
Is anyone facing this problem? Any help on this will be very much helpful.

I have almost the exact setup as you, and airtunes never slows down my internet connection.
Has it just happened recently? Have you done a reset on the TC? Make sure you are using the g network, and not in the b only mode.
You can also make sure everything on the network are getting good signal. You can check the signal strength from Airport Utility (in the logs and Stats pane).

  • New Time Capsule 2nd generation keeps slowing down internet. Firmware 7.6.3

Both ethernet and wireless connections, my time capsul ( 2nd gen, 7.6.3) slows down to 20 Mbits after a day or so. I then plug the Modem directly into my laptop, and the speed is 90+ Mbits. I then remove the cable and plug it back into the TC, and the speed jumps back up to 60+ Mbits. 24 hours later, I am back down to 20 Mbts. Ideas anyone? How to I get closer to the 90 Mbits?  I'd even be happy with the 60+ Mbits, but why the contant drop down to 20?

The OP does not have a modem router so this advice doesn't apply.

  • Airport Extreme slowing down internet connection to a crawl

    Hi,
    Can anyone explain this one?
Just this afternoon my internet connection slowed to a crawl. Pages would stall loading and I couldn't even collect emails. There was a connection there. A Google search might take a minute or so but anything else would barely flinch.
So I did a few restarts and complete power downs of all my peripherals, computers and network devices but no joy. I called my broadband provider who did a remote test of my cable modem and confirmed it was responding well.
So I removed the Airport Extreme from the network and connected directly to the modem. All was fine, in fact that is how I am working now. But when connecting the Airport Extreme back in I have this extremely slow connection. I have looked at both the Network preferences and Airport Setup Utility. Both claim the connection is good.
I also have an old G4 in another room. It was switched off during all the goings on this afternoon but I powered it up to see if the same problem persisted. Sure enough it does, as it is also connected via the AE. However, the local connection between computers is just fine.
So how do I resolve this? Why would the AE cause such an internet slowdown?
    Thanks,
    Colin

I've had similar symptoms on my network. Here are network details:
    Comcast is the ISP
I have an Extreme and an Express set up as a single wireless network.
Extreme is plugged in to the cable modem. Express is an extension of the Extreme.
Devices that are regularly "on network": Mac Mini (G4), MacBook, Mac Pro, 2 TiVO Series 2.
    All Macs are running 10.4.10.
Symptom: Over the course of 3-6 weeks, wireless access slows to a crawl for the Intel-based MacBook and MacPro, but not the PowerPC Mini. All web sites, email traffic, etc., for the Intel Macs becomes painful: CNN's home page loads in minutes, not seconds, for example. Unplugging and replugging the Express doesn't do anything. Powering off and on the Extreme resolves the issue. For now. There are no pending firmware updates for the Express or Extreme that I'm aware of.

  • EA3500 slows down internet connection by half

I have a Win7 PC that is connected by ethernet cable to my EA3500; my other PC's run off the EA's wireless.
My provider is Cox and I subscribe to their Ultimate service which now gives 100+ Mbps down and 20+ up. When I connect my Cox modem directly to my PC, I get download speeds in excess 120 Mbps and upload over 20 Mbps.
My problem is when I connect my PC through my EA3500 router via ethernet, my PC's download speeds drop to 50 Mbps, though the upload speeds remain near 20 Mbps.
Wireless speeds to the other PC's are also in the 50 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload.
Why would my EA3500 choke down my ethernet connected PC's downloads to 50 Mbps when a direct connection with the Cox modem more than doubles the speeds to over 125 Mbps?  Do I have some setting set up incorrectly in the EA3500?
Thanks in advance for any ideas and answers you may have.

What solved the issue for me was to go into my Linksys smart wi-fi browser app and select "Media Prioritization" and then the select "Settings" (it is there in a small link) and once in, I I entered 125000 in the Downstream Bandwidth window, which previously was set for 58227 for some reason. That opened up the throughput through my entire router, both wired and ethernet sides.

  • Linksys WRVS4400N V1.1.13 slows down Internet speed by 50%

    Hi,
Recently I upgraded my Internet speed at the ISP from 10Mbps to 25Mbps and the problem is that I am measuring only 15Mbps using speedtest.net.
On the day when the tech came out to install the new DSL modem, he noticed the difference and as part of troubleshooting, he bypassed the Linksys router and voila the net speed measured 25Mbps using speedtest.net.
So, why my Linksys WRVS4400N V1.1.13 acts like a bottleneck in this case? I didn't have this problem at the speed of 10Mbps. The upload speed is OK, it is 5Mbs with or without the DSL modem.
Does someone have any idea how to troubleshoot this problem?

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for the tipp on disabling the IPS, I did it and the speedtest.net test resulted in 21Mbps.
So, it is already a great improvement.
It is interesting though, that on the IPS page of the router, all four protocols were disabled (http, ftp, telnet and rpc), so I am not sure if it was doing anything useful anyway. Am I right?
Since the tech from my ISP was using speedtest.net for testing and did get 25Mbps, I figured that it should work for me too. I am not sure if our ISP has a website for the same purpose.
In order to eliminate any bugs I was considering upgrading the firmware on my router, but I am not sure which firmware I should use, it seems to me that there are two sets of firmwares available for my router one with VPN version 1.xx the other one is VPN ver. 2.xxx
The model# of my router is WRVS4400N v1.1  but I am not sure whether to upgrade to one or the other VPN version is up to me or the VPN version range is already set in my router and I cannot upgrade to 2 from 1 in case I have VPN v1. (How can I tell which version of VPN I have on my router?)
8 hours later I added this text:
I did another test on speedtest.net and at this time I got 24.35Mbps, so you were right, speedtest.net won't give you a reliable speed value if you just run it once and you want to make a decision based on that. (Btw., I contacted our ISP, they don't have a net speed measuring website within their own network.)
So, I am done with the speed problem thanks to your right on target suggestion, but could you please, answer my other two questions:
    - Was the IPS in my router doing anything usefull to me since all 4 protocolls were disabled - until now?
    - About the firmware dilemma.
    Thanks.

  • Internet speeds keep slowing down to a crawl

I'm having a problem that has only developed in the past week which was during a time when I haven't changed any configurations in that period of time since my son was born a week ago yesterday and I obviously had more important things to do than mess with my network configurations. However, about 2 weeks prior to his birth, in the process of configuring a baby monitoring system with icam source, 3 weeks or so ago, I read that I might be able to improve my internet performance, I ran googles namebench a couple of times and added and re-ordered the DNS servers that had been listed prior to any problems developing based on its' reports. My internet speeds improved as a result of changing those DNS settings and stayed good until the past week. But of course, we now need to use the computer as part of our baby monitoring system and it's not working worth a **** and I'm getting frustrated since I can't put my finger on the problem and I don't really have time to spin around in circles right now. I'm sure it's probably something simple and I can't put my finger on it though. Sleep deprivation is new to me.......
I've kept running log of notes so this is a little deshoveled but I figured the more information I provide the better the chance someone might help me get this solved quickly.
In the last week, since my sons birth, my internet speeds would be okay after restarts and resetting everything, 2.5 Mbps or so but after a 10-15 minutes it starts to slow down to .2-.3 Mbps. I went thru all my network settings, restarted everything, repaired permissions, I've changed ethernet cables reset PRAM, firewall is running, stealth mode enabled, allow signed software incoming connections and my various other programs such as netsessionmac4f3c6b, skype, java, itunes, etc.
All sharing services off and pretty basic login items at startup including growl.
I had AT&T come out and check my DSL line and everything checked out on their end up to and out of the DSL modem based in their equipment tests.
The problem seems to start when I connect my imac (a fairly loaded 27" imac I got in Dec.) First off, as soon as the imac is connected to the modem via ethernet, the old ethernet modem flashes and continues to flash, even right after startup. So the tech thought something was running in the background and I can't figure out what. I looked through login items but don't see anything that would be a problem and am afraid to eliminate everything.
So I created a guest account to eliminate any login items (I think) and in I got 5.69 Mbps right off the bat. But after a minute or two, without changing anything my download speed slows down and I get for example .77 Mbps. The same thing happens with my administrator account on the imac. Fast speeds at startup and more importantly if I change the configuration by switching between ethernet and airport, I get fast speeds right after changing the configuration but after a minute or two I am well below 1.0 Mbps. I've got several network configurations with automatic, airport and ethernet set up in different ways including a clean ethernet connection with the original DNS settings.
I haven't set up an airport only account but that really isn't the way I want to hook up the computer that sits right next to the modem and runs my network. Restarting the old modem and direct connecting the computer to the modem results in the same thing happening.
I connected my ethernet from the (old?) modem directly to my ancient powerbook G4 and I got +5.6 Mbps download but it also slowed down to 300 kbps after 5 minutes or so the first time (old modem?)
Now to explain why I have "old?" listed above. I was then able to get a new DSL modem from AT&T, hook it up just fine, get enormously faster internet service in the 5,000 kbps only to have it slow back down to around 300 kpbs after connected for several minutes.
    directly connected to imac-bypassing router
    3,500 kbps
    after 15 minutes-250 kbps
connected to imac thru router/time capsule with airport extreme
    2500 kbps
    after 15 minutes=166 kbps
directly connected to an older powerbook G4 with new modem
    IP address of 192.168.1.64
    5.65 Mbps on speedtest
    after 15 minutes=5.67 Mbps
    after 30 minutes= 5.59 Mbps
    1 hour-5.66 Mbps
Very solid, stable readings for what I am used to. This would seem to isolate the problem to the imac.
directly connected to imac with new modem
    IP address of 192.168.1.64
    5.8 Mbps on speedtest
    after 30 minutes= .60 Mbps-ping takes 250 ms
    1 hour= .46 Mbps-ping takes 250 ms
Now a problem that only started last night after I hooked up the new modem and started up my old Time capsule/airport configuration, I got a message that said something to effect of "another device on this network is using computer IP address 192.168.1.64. So I tried manually changing last digit of the IP address on the computer to one number higher and it kept saying the start and end range were incorrect so I shut the airport station down since when it was connected, it would not allow the computer to connect thru the router via ethernet. I did a hard reset on the airport and I got it back up and running just fine but the internet speeds on the imacs' ethernet connections are so slow it's practically worthless. I also checked to see what was connected to my airport on any given occasion, 2 iphones, 2 pads, another imac running upstairs and a newer powerbook running icam source that is supposed to be the baby monitor. Except for the laptop everything can use "802.11n" but the powerbook only connects via 802.11g so I have set the airport to that limiting setting.
Any suggestions? Is there a way for me to log what is happening so I can report in more detail?

First thing is to check if the wireless is on a sensible channel: HomeHub doesn't always make sensible choices.  Install inSSIDer on your laptop and see what other devices there are around and if there is any clash.  Also, try moving the HomeHub around a little, even quite small differences can make a big difference to wireless signals.
You could run an ethernet cable from downstairs to upstairs.  Easy to do, but can be a bit unsightly.  If most of your devices are upstairs, you could use this cable to connect the modem to the HomeHub.  If you have devices both up and down, you may want to keep the HomeHub downstairs and add a switch upstairs.
HomePlug may be suitable for you.  If you search Amazon for HomePlug you will see a couple of kits for just over £30.  Don't go for an 85Mbps one.  A 200Mbps such as the TP-link or D-Link should be much better than wireless, but not as good as a cable.
Depending excatly how many devices you want to connect and where, you can pay more and have a builtin wireless at one end: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Devolo-1408-Wireless-N-HomePlug-Adapter/dp/B00472MMCQ/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qi...  Or it may be best for you to use the basic devices and add an old wireless router in switch mode.

  • Internet slows down or shuts off for a few minutes, then goes back to normal. What should I do?

So I've been away for a while and when I got back to US I've had some issues.
It's the same internet connection as before, so I'm not sure if that's the problem.
When I use an internet browser everything goes well for a while and then internet suddenly slows down or shuts off , it dosen't show dissconnect or anything.
The only thing that happens is that pages won't load, or they load super slow. This usually happens for a few minutes.
I got my macbook this september and I'm careful with not blocking the fans.
The same thing happens when I play games online, the internet "shuts" off or slows down, freezing the game. I'm now unable to play that game because of this issue.
I really don't know what could've causes this and I'm not really sure how to check, I would appreciate any help.
When this issue happens it dosen't seem to be because of what I have open, how mane pages, or over heating.
(I'm not a hundred percent sure about the heat, it gets warm but hot acctualy heated up as in when it's running heavy applications)
I'd like a response fast because this affects not only my gaming (which I really miss) but also everything else like HW, since the page would die suddenly.
    Please help
p.s It's a wifi connection and I don't have acess to use a cable. I'm trying to get a hold of the password to the internet since I only have it locked on my laptop as "go-to" connections.. My landlord has the password ..

  • HT5730 After I installed 10.8.48.4 Internet browsing slowed down to the pace of a dial-up connection.  How can I get back to normal operating speed?

After I installed 10.8.4, my Internet browsing slowed down to the pace of a dial-up connection -- unless it froze up completely.  How do I get my system back to a normal operating mode?  Can I dump 10.8.4 and go back to the one that at least worked?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them.
    1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
    2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they also slow?
    3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
    4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they also slow?
    5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it slow there too?
    6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?
