SPA514G not listed in available phone type

Hi All,
Currently implementing a UC540 with 6 x SPA514G phones.
I ran through the CCA Telephony Wizard and was able to add one of the phones without issue.
Since then I have tried addding more 514G's through CCA Users/Extensions
CCA finds the phones, but when I choose to edit one of them the Phone Type is not listed and is greyed out, so cannot be changed so I cannot add a user to this phone.
Also to note even though I was able to add a single 514G during the Telephony Wizard it is also listed as 'Unknown' and is greyed out, but it has been successfully configured for that user.
If i try to add the phone before plugging it in the 514G is not listed in the options.
I suspect that an upgrade to the 8.6.0 software pack is the first thing to do.
Unforutnately I don't have access to unit so I'm not sure what pack it is on at the moment.
Any suggestions?

The SPA series handsets and ATAs are widely used in hosted call control environments with SIP proxies from a variety of vendors, so the phones were released as soon as they were fully developed and had successfully completed the QA process. The release schedule for the UC500 did not line up closely enough to this to do a simultaneous release of support across all platforms.

BobbyH5280. Very helpful answer! I am XP for the next week on CS6. I did find 3 items that helped. The fonts are in AI, but are listed on the bottom of the list. Also in Edit/Preferences/Type, checking "Show Font Names in English" makes the font list easier to read (doesn't appear to change the sort order though), and (with your suggestion) checking "Sow Asian Options" might do something positive. Thanks to all of you who sent in tips.

UC520 List of supported phone types

Hi There,
It seems that I'm doing something wrong, but i dont know what is it!.
Im using CCA and UC520w, when i go to User/phones and then add, than phone type, i see around 20 types of phones, even though it should be way more, because when i go to manage phone loads i see way more phones there!, (I also deleted and added all phone loads from the latest software pack, but that did not fix the problem)
What im trying to do is, to add CP-7936 on UC520, but as i said i cant find it on "phone type" even though the phone load already exists on flash card.
any idea would be highly appreciated.

7936 is not listed there but you may add it in the CLI.

Pdf not listed in smart phone app

I am having adobe reader app in my smart phone. It is not listing some of the pdf files from the SD card even though i had chosen all pdfs in document view pane

For both 'Folder View' as well as 'All PDFs' view, all non hidden PDF files on the external SD Card as well as internal storage are listed by Adobe Reader. Are these files on a specific location(like a certain folder) on your SD Card? Are you able to access these files from outside Reader(i.e. File Manager or some other application)? If yes, when you open them, do you see their entry in Recents?

How do i ADD a file type (such as Quicktime mov) that is NOT listed in the Content Type list?

All the instructions I find when searching for how to ADD a file type just explain how to manage how Firefox handles that file type. And that is not possible when the file type is not in the list.

Usually MOV is played by the QuickTime plugin. Some other plugins also may handle MOV. This is handled by entries in a hidden database, but you can view the contents if you type or paste about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter.
In looking at your plugins list under "More System Details" I don't see QuickTime. Is it disabled (set to "never activate") on the Add-ons page? Missing?

Since I updated to iPhoto 9.5.1, when I open the program, I am now asked what library i wish to use and none are listed. I can not find my photos. How can I find and restore my photos. Can I use the Time Machine to do this?

You may be launching an older version of iPhoto from your Dock. Try to launch iPhoto directly from the Applications folder. Does that find a library to open?
If not, search with Find Any File for traces of your iPhoto library, as described by Old Toad in this post:

Download and run Find Any File to search for a file with "ThumbJPGSegment" in the file name. These are files common to all versions of iPhoto libraries.
FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages. If there's a library hiding somewhere on your hard drive FAF will find it.
If that does not work, try to restore from your backup:
The photos were stored on the iMac hard drive. I do have the Time machine with backup on my Airport WIFI.
To restore from Time Machine, you need to open the folder, where your iPhoto library should be, before you enter Time Machine. Then go back in time along the timeline to the right of the TimeTunnel window.

HT4623 how do I delete a contact not listed in the phone

So I've been having various issues with iphones since I was foolish enough to purchase this inferior product, I have a contact in my phone we will call Sally Example. Sally Example is saved in my phone as 111-111-1111. This is a correction from the orginal save where she was listed as 111-111-1112. However when I search for Sally Example I'm displayed both phone numbers. When I look at the contact only the correct number is listed. This issue only really occurs when I'm in the process of creating a new text message and begin typing the name.
So the screen looks like this:

Plug your phone into iTunes.
Click on your iPhone under "Devices"
On the Summary pane, choose "Check for Updates".

Backup to External Via Airport, not listed as available in Time Machine.

I would very much like to set up a time machine backup using my external hard drive. I don't have time capsule, but I have airport connected to an external hard drive. Also, I would prefer that time machine only keep tabs on one folder, the Documents folder. My documents are all that I need backed-up, not a lot of space required, but vital info that I hate having to backup everyday. Nothing else needs a daily backup. Is there a way to do this?

Time Machine backups to AirDisks (e.g. USB HDD attached to Extreme) is unsupported, but has been successful by some. As well, once you decide to move your TM backups to an AirDisk, you cannot continue backing up to your previous TM backup. The format it saves to vs. a local HDD is different. The folder structure you see becomes a sparsebundle/disk image via the AirDisk.

For excluding everything but your documents, open TM Preferences -> Options. Try to Select All, then deselect the folder you want to backup. Note that you will NOT be able to restore your Mac to its current state in the event of an internal HDD failure. Just your Document folder is backed up.

Our company uses SCCM 2007 and we don't really have an SCCM officer here. I kind of try to get things done by googling a lot but for this i can't find a a solution so i open a thread.
I'm a newbie to SCCM 2007 so I don't know if i'm about to ask a dumb question but here I go.
I'm trying to pull out a report for the count of computers that run a desktop version of our Ticketing Tool.
I found the perfect standard report for this in SCCM 2007 which is: Count of instances of specific software registered with Add or Remove Programs.
in there i have to set two values: 1) the software that i'm willing to count, 2) the collection in which to search.
for value number 2 I have no problems.
my problem is in value number 1. When I click the value button to list all known software, he lists all software in a alphabetic way. problem is that it stops at letter "I"... the software i'm looking for starts with an O so it's not listed.
also if I type the software and then click Values... it replies that it couldn't find the software.
am I doing something wrong?

it sound like you are using the filter option with in the old and "crappy" ASP reports. first you should stop using then and only use the SSRS reports. secondly the filter option will only show the first 1000 rows, there is a reg key to
allow it to show more.

CME 9 Location of cnf and per phone versus per phone type

Hello,
Seems like most people these days are using flash as the location of their CME phone firmware, config files, GUI, rintones, etc.
However if you dont need to do locals per phone or phone type, what are the benefits of using flash: versus system: for file locations. I guess maybe limits in space and such but doesnt system perform better as a location than flash ?
Also if you are using flash: for the cnf location and again you arent doing locals per phone, why not do cnf per phone type instead of per phone ?
Finally you see a lot of tftp-server flash: commands that use the alias syntax but a lot of folks don't. When do you really need to use the alias syntax

Per phone type— Creates separate configuration files for each phone type and all phones of the same type use the same configuration file. (perphonetype CNF is okay if you want the same locale for all phones.)
Per phone—Creates a separate configuration file for each phone, by MAC address

Alias works as a shortcut , just like you create shortcut on desktop which points to file/folder deep inside in a directory. So when even phone looks for a specific file which is not stored directly to flash:/ or system:/ but in the directories of flash or system then you need alias.

If you still cannot restart it, check this Apple support document, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567 if that doesn't work, then you may need to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it. Follow the instructions in this support document to remove them from Windows XP http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
