SPA8800 and UC540

I'm trying to get a SPA8800 to register on a UC540 and i cannot figure out what credentials I need to use. I've created an extension in the CCA under add phones using the MAC address and selected ATA as the phone type. I've tried every combination i can think of from the data provided in the add phone screens. As well as 10.1.1.1 and 10.1.10.2 for the proxy server address. in this case the extension is 160 the userid is punit and hte password is 123456 from the add phone screen. the see the unit trying to registher is just reports failed in the web admin the SPA8800. any help would be great.
Thanks,
Micah.

  • Routing issue with ASA and UC540 phone system - at ASA???

Having an issue with routing from the PC at .242 to the CUE server at 10.1.10.1. The CUE server is built into the UC540 phone system. It is an internal piece of software that is used for voicemail and management. The UC540 is not only a call router, it is also an IOS router. It has it's own WAN connection as does the ASA.
    Here are some facts:
    1. Can ping the UC540's internal CUE server from the PC ( ping to 10.1.10.1 )
    2. Can ping the UC540's VLAN 1 address from the PC ( ping to 10.1.10.1 )
    3. The ASA is the default gateway for the PC.
    4. I have a route inserted at the asa that is:
                   route 10.1.10.1 255.255.255.0 10.19.250.254 1
    5. I have a nat statement that prevents NAT from occuring but I don't think this is necessary as the 10.1.10.0/24 network isn't otherwise defined on the      ASA.
    6. I cannot pull up a web page when I point the browser on the PC to the 10.1.10.1 address
    7. I CAN pull up a web page on the PC when I create a static route on the PC iteslf :
                   route add 10.1.10.1 mask 255.255.255.0 10.19.250.254
Is is only with this route that I am able to get to the web GUI on the phone system.
    8. The phone system has a loopback interface at 10.1.10.2 that serves as the gateway for the internal CUE server, the internal CUE server is at      10.1.10.1
    9. The switch is a 2960 and has a trunk port to the phone system to allow for the voice vlan which is at 10.1.1.0/24, no issues with this vlan and phones      are connecting to the system fine.
Since I can get the GUI to come up when I set a static route on the PC, then I would assume that the routing in the phone system with it's internal server is fine as it wouldn't work otherwise. Since I can successfully ping the CUE server from the PC, that would lead me to believe that the ASA's routing is setup correctly..... TCP traffic doesn't seem to get to/from the CUE server.
    Here are the routing tables:
    ASA:
Gateway of last resort is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to network 0.0.0.0
    C    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.252 is directly connected, outside

    Any help appreciated!!!
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Where you able to solve this problem? It does sound like an issue with TCP state checking on the ASA. The Firewall needs to see both sides of the traffic but the return traffic is going from your UC540 direct to the PC. The firewall essentially kills the traffic.
I would recommend disabling TCP state checking on the ASA and see if it works. Otherwise, you will need to stub route the UC540 as a separate VLAN off the ASA which needs to route through the ASA to reach the PC.
Here is a info page on the TCP State Bypass:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/asa-5500-x-series-next-generation-firewalls/111986-asa-tcp-bypass-00.html
Please let me know how it works out.

  • SPA8800 and SRST for small branch office?

    Hi All,
Need some help. I have a central site that will be running Cisco BE 5000. I have a small branch office I would like to place IP phones in so we can just dial an extension to call each other. The branch will have its own connection to the PSTN with a couple of POTS lines from the phone company.
So I am wondering how I can connect branch and HQ for intra-office calling and let the branch office use their PSTN connection for their local calls. I would think I could place a gateway such as the SPA8800 in the branch and connect the PSTN lines to it.
My concern is, what happens if I lose the WAN connection between HQ and branch? Then the branch could not make any calls right? I know a little about SRST and how that solves the issue of losing WAN connection with the central Call Manager site, but I what I don't understand is SRST something that can run on a device like the SPA8800 or do I need an ISR router in the branch that can run SRST if I want the branch to be able to make phone calls without a connection to HQ?
    Thanks for any help!

u may but any plane wireless device and run it in bridge mode (shouldd run by default i beleive). Then connect one of its lan port to any one of the lan ports available on the DPC3829 thing.
you are correct in what you want to do, and it can be done no problem.
    Regards
Please mark answer as correct if it helps.

  • Connect two SPA8800 together

    Hi,
I have two Cisco SPA8800 and I want to make them work together to transport an analog line throught an IP network. I searched on the net and the admin guide and I've found anything that could help me so I'm asking you some help.
So, I have one analog line in my first SPA8800 (in the line 1). I have another SPA8800 on the same network and I want to be able to pick up the phone (phone 1) and take the analog line on the first gateway. I also want to be able to call the phone number of the analog line and answer with the phone.
I tried to work with Dial Plan, I tried many things but nothings worked.
I've already did it a few month ago between two Multitech device but it was a lot easier than the Cisco.
    Thanks for your help.

  • UC540 vpnserver -IPsec VPN- ASA5505 vpnclient+SPA303g3

    Hi,
I've just setup and UC540 at main office (SITE A) and a ASA5505 in a remote site (SITA B).
I've just setup properly IPsec VPN, where UC540 is working as a server VPN and  SA5505 as cliente VPN both of them in EZVPN_GROUP_1 group.
Ping between networks in Site A from Site B is OK in both Vlans 1 (data) and Vlan100 (voice).
Cisco IP Comunicator (Softphone) in Site B is working fine as an extesion from UC540.
But I have a Cisco SPA303G2 phone, also behind the ASA5505 in Site B, and it is not working properly. The display is always showing "initializingNetwork".
I'd tried to register manually the  MAC of the SPA303g2 in UC540 but is not working.
    I will apreciate any help...
    Regards,

    Hi Alex,
In the ASA I've modified inspect options in order to allow tftp, but now the phone is trying to download files via TFTP and It's not working fine.

    System image file is "flash:/uc500-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M5"
it is default from cisco in cme that we cannot change last-name-first TO first-name-first.

Mohammed Saber Uddin wrote:no directory first-name-first didnt work out !! still shows last-name-first in phone directory...
That makes sense. If you want first name first, then configure that.
Users want to search it by first-name-first ( first name first and last name last ) ...
The search form cannot be changed. Just fill values in the correct field.

  • SPA8800s keep dying (on my 4th replacement) - IS THIS A KNOWN ISSUE?

    Good day,
I am using a SPA8800 as an analog gateway for a Business Edition 3000 deployment. I am now going to be going on my fourth replacement unit of the SPA8800 and am hoping someone at Cisco sees this post and can provide some insight.
All of my failed SPAs exhibit the same failure. It seems the ethernet port just stops working. The first unit died within 30 minutes. The subsequent replacements have lasted longer (days to weeks) but all eventually failed as well.
More problem details: I have 4 solid lights on the "Status" indicator. The ethernet indicator on the SPA blinks a slow steady green light. There is no link light on any switch port I plug the SPA into.
On the latest failure, the SPA was working fine for about 2 weeks. I unplugged the SPA from the switch port it was plugged into temporarily to move the physical cable, and when I plugged it back in to the switch, the ethernet port did not come back up. There is no link light on the switch port.
The SPA is plugged into a UPS for conditioned power, so I do not believe it is an environmental issue.
Has anyone else experienced such issues with these devices? Can someone from Cisco comment on these failures?
    Thanks.

    Hi Janet,
I would suggest you could try some of the suggestions given below:

  • Asterisk IVR does not recognise SPA8800 caller interactions

I have successfully integrated a SPA8800 into our Asterisk system. Now we can dial-out and dial-in via the PSTN connected to the SPA8800 and into Asterisk. The problem however is when the call is presented the Asterisk IVR where the caller is expected to press either extension numbers or numeric options — Asterisk does not recognise the pressed keys and the IVR just continue playing. All other calls via the SIP trunks are processed correctly when the caller interacts with the IVR.
    Please help.

There are several methods to pass DTMF thru SIP channel (in-band, out-of-band/SIP_INFO, AVT). You need to configure SPA8800 according to Asterisk requirements (or vice versa).
Also note that in-band signalling doesn't work well trougth compressed codecs like G.729. You need to use uncompressed codecs like G.711 for it.

  • Static PAT entry blocking Branch site from accessing resource on same port. How to get around this?

Hello, I have a UC560 and UC540 connected using an IPSec Site to Site tunnel.
There is a server on the main site they are trying to access (lets say IP is 192.168.1.252) and they need to access this server on ports 13000, 14000, and 15000.
Unfortunately, since there are users from the internet and other places that need to access this server on these ports, these static pat entries are in the server (Lets say 99.99.99.99 is the WAN IP):
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.252 13000 99.99.99.99 13000 extendable
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.252 14000 99.99.99.99 14000 extendable
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.252 15000 99.99.99.99 15000 extendable
The users in the branch site that is connected via VPN can reach this server on all TCP ports(RDP, http, etc) so that's not the issue. When I remove these nat statements, the VPN users can access the resource via that port (I.e telnet 192.168.1.252 13000 ) whereas they are shut down and connection fails if the static pat entries are in there.
I need to have outside users and VPN users be able to access this server whether they are coming in across the VPN goin to 192.168.1.252:13000 or coming in from the internet on 99.99.99.99:13000
Is there a way around this other than forcing the VPN users to access this server via the WAN IP for these ports? And does anyone know the logic behind this? I'm curious. From what I've seen in other cases, this is expected behavior, I'd just like a better understanding of it.
Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you

I hope I explained this properly. If not, please let me know!
    Thanks

  • Clustering with UC560/540

    Hi,
Is it possible to configure UC560 and UC540s kept in different locations as Publisher and Subscribers and there by avail the centralised deployment advandages?
I have one client with one UC560 at Head office and two UC540s at two different branch offices. I wnat to configure the extension mobility feature for all the users to access their profile at any site. They got VPN over normal internet connection not a MPLS connection. Can anybody help me on this?

Sorry I meant to send this to the ejb newsgroup.

  • Video Conferences in CUCME

Going through Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express system administrator guide I came to the section for configuring video conferences. On the prerequsites lists they say the feature is supported on Cisco 2900 and 3900 ISRs, Cisco IOS 15.1(4)M, CUCME 8.6 or later and PVDM3 modules. My two questions are:
(1). Is this doing video conferencing using Cisco Unified Video Advantage or some other video applications?
(2). Can these conferences be run on UC560 and UC540 platforms?

    1 and 2:
    No.

  • Configuring UC540 with 2x SPA525G2 (local and remote site)

Just got this new system installed and not sure to get full capability.
Here's my setup and feel free to send comments to help improve configuration.
I have two SPA525G2 phone one local connected to the UC540 and the other one is remote and connected over the built-in VPN
I have 4 incoming lines and we need to have both phone ringing all the time.
On each phone at least one user extension button, one monitor button to see the status of the remote extension, and one group voicemail
So that left me with only 2 buttons to control the 4 incoming lines.
How should i do this setup on the two remaining buttons ?

    Hello Pierre,
There are a lot of different approaches. The following are some of the approaches:
    1. create a group for each if the incoming lines and put the extensions of the two phones in these groups.
    2. Create extension for each line and make overlay buttons which include these extensions.
    3. Use B-ACD or AA and send the calls there and then forward to the extensions of the phones.
    HTH,
    Alex

  • UC540 and memory issues

I had a customer with a UC540 call approx. three or four days ago, and he couldn't get from his home PC into his work PC via RDP.  The work PC is behind a UC540.  He restarted the UC540 (power cycle) and it seemed to start behaving.
Today he was having voice quality issues and I noticed a decent amount of jitter on the line (I use PingPlotterPro to monitor his Internet connection).  So I had him power-cycle his AT&T U-Verse modem.  After that, he was unable to get any Internet connections so he had to power-cycle his UC540.
Things seemed to improve a bit for a while, but then call quality suffered and I started to dig into the UC540 a bit, looking at its built-in diagnostics page.  The output on the diagnostics page had this:

I did a couple of restarts of the UC540 via a telnet "reload" and kept getting that same result.  Then I rebooted the PC I was using (which was 192.168.10.3) and made sure CCA wasn't started, then did another reload and now I'm getting this:

I'm truncating those logs a bit, I'm not sure how many lines helpers here may need telling us we're low on memory.
So I'm not sure how to proceed.  After a reload, the SIP trunk takes maybe a call or two, and then I can't call in any more.  I'm not sure about calling OUT, I'm remote to the site.
Any ideas on where to start?

    Hi
I have seen this in the past as well. I recommend the following:
    1) Disable DNS Server on UC540, then point all LAN PCs to using public DNS such as Google: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 This can be done manually for static or by changing DHCP Server scope options
    2) Make sure that the firewall is enabled on the UC540 WAN interface
    3) Ensure you are using the latest IOS version for the UC540 platform.
It could be that your router is under attack or is participating in a DNS attack via your client computers.
    Kind regards.

  • UC540 and EIGRP

Is EIGRP an option with a UC540 or am I missing something?  I see bgp, ospf, rip and a few others as options but no eigrp.  I am trying to tunnel remote clinics back to our main site and have done this successfully with the UC540 and simple VPN tunnel.
Now I want to try and streamline the process by using a GRE tunnel and EIGRP.   I seem to be striking out though.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

Is it that Cisco doesn't support it, or that it won't work?  The CLI commands are there for other routing protocols, with the exception of EIGRP.
