Space after paragraph

The new version of Pages is missing a few things, or at least I can't find them (flow between text boxes being foremost). Where is the tool to add space after and/or  before a paragraph?

Where does one set space after paragraph in the new Pages 5.0? It used to be under text in the Inspector in the previous version, but I just can't find it in this new version. Paragraphs seem to only be dealt with in styles, and the Formatting window for text doesn't seem to have the space after paragraph contrtol that the older Inspector had. What am I missing?

Sorry I did this without looking:
    Side panel >Text > Style > Spacing > Turn the triangle > Before Paragraph/After Paragraph/

  • Getting blank space after paragraph in RTF template

    Hi there,
Thanks so much for all your help for your help.
I am running into one issue in RTF template, wanted to share with you to get any input on this. I have paragraph and Idid put in table at the top and there is xml tag that gives names after that paragraph. but I get blank spaces after paragraph and it shows names from that xml tag.
I tried to remove spaces by deleting between pargraph and xml tag<name> , still i get blank page between paragraph text and names.
Can anyone help me or point me to get it resolved that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Varma for your prompt response and your time on this. I am still trying to get any other options to get this done as that is the requirement and with that blank page looks not fully satisfied for users and am trying any other ways to do implement this..
That's the reason I thought of putting this post again to get more inputs that may have.
Can anyone put some light onthis.
    Thanks a lot..

  • How do I remove space after paragraph?

Does Robohelp have the "Remove Space after paragraph" button for reducing the space between lines, like the one in Word?

In HTML the space after is controlled by the style in your CSS file. You need to edit the style in the Style Editor.

  • Space after Paragraph: How much picas equal a blank line in Garamond Regular 7.5?

I'm using Indesign CC and  would like to add a blank line after every paragraph in my document. I found out how to do that, but the only unit I'm offered is picas. I could probably switch to inches, but that doesn't really help me. My main text is written in Garamond Regular font size 7.5 and I would like to have blank space after each paragraph equal to a blank line written in that font with that size. How do if find out much large a blank line with those font settings is? I guessed and it seems to be equal to 0p7, but it would be great if I could do that without guessing blindly. I'm glad for any help.

I am not sure to understand.  Garamond (or any other typeface) 7.5 equals to… 7.5 pts. But the size of a typeface is measured from ascender to descender, so it does not give you an accurate idea of the real height of the line. But leading is measured from baseline to baseline and this corresponds to the measure you are looking for. Once again, you need to know the leading value and you have to enter this value for the space after.
And 1 pica is equal to 12 pts.

  • Space after paragraph not appearing in browsers.

    Question from a newbie.
I'm using Dreamweaver (latest version) to create a rather long daily newsletter. Lots of paragraphs. I'm finding that many times, after a paragraph, I'll see a space before the next pargraph but then when I save the final page and open it in a browser the space between the paragraphs is gone.
This doesn't happen with every paragraph. I can go back and 'fix' this by backing up the second paragraph into the previous, then hitting Enter twice.
What I want: If I see a single line space between two paragraphs in Design mode I want it to appear that way in my browser. (I use both Firefox and Chrome.)
    Thank you!

Thanks in advance for your help.
FYI - I'm creating a rather long HTML newsletter for clients each day. It's mostly paragraph after paragraph. Very simple.
In the problem described above I noticed that when in Dreamweaver I always see a line between paragraphs. This is what I want to see. But a few times in each document, when I open it in a browser the line has gone away.
When the line has vanished (in my browser) is see this code between paragraphs:
    <br></p><p>
When the paragraphs show up as they should in the browser this is the code between them:
    </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>
    OR
    </p><p><br>

  • Align text between columns with space after paragraphs.

I am creating a proposal with a ton of text. I used to align everything to a baseline grid with justified type and indented paragraphs. Recently, however, I was asked to change the style to left aligned text with spaces between the paragraphs. The text flows into two columns per page, but I'll be damned if I can get the text to line up. I've tried different baseline grids as well as before and after spacing. I think my issue might be trying to keep paragraph spacing as half the leading. If my copy text leading and baseline are 14 or 7 pt, will a 7 pt paragraph space after work?
My leading and pt size is below, if anyone can point me to a solution.
    Body copy: 9 pt font/14 pt leadingSpace before/after: 3.5/3.5
    Subheaders: 10 pt font/ 14 pt leadingSpace before/after: 7/3.5
Baseline: tried both 14 pt and 7 pt

That's what I thought. I was taught to either have an indented second paragraph or to separate the paragraphs by half the leading of the type. Seems like it's impossible to align the text that way. A full leading separation (14 pt) between paragraphs seems excessive though.

  • Pages: Space after paragraphs

I am unable to find a way to create space before or after paragraphs. The original Pages inspector facility was just brilliant, better than Word, so why tinker with it? Hard to understand this. The new Pages interface is not easy to follow, but I guess I will get used to it. Could anybody please tell me how I can create space before and after paragraph in a document.
    Please help,
    Pat

I had the same problem and looked forever without luck. Fortunately, my little brother found the answer!

  • Space after paragraph "returns"

    Hi!
I've made a template so that I don't have to keep telling Pages not to make space after each paragraph, but... Each time I use a style (like Heading) it automaticlly sets the space after a paragraph to 12 pt. This is annoying - can I change it?
    Thanks

    You are most welcome.
I found the pdf Pages 2 User Guide accessible from the front help page to be the most useful thing. It's 250 pages but there is a great deal of white space in there. It contains most of the useful conceptual stuff you need that is absent from the individual help snippets.
Don't ever feel guilty about posting a question though. That's what these boards are for.

  • Mystery spaces after paragraphs, effect from cutting/pasting

I am typing a rather long document for a graduate class. I placed my notes, quotes, etc. in an outline form in pages 09. I am now cutting and pasting those texts into a new document in pages 09. HOWEVER, at the end of a paragraph, it gives me mysterious blank space and starts the next paragraph on the next page. I've checked and I do not have it set up to do the "paragraph on next page" from the inspector. It has something to do with the cutting and pasting, I'm sure.
any help? how do you erase phantom space? ps---- I have tried deleting back to it, but the moment you hit enter, its back down AND don't try using space bar because it resets itself after a while. HELP!

It obviously has some hidden formatting characters.
You can try and show them by:
    +Menu > View > Show Invisibles+
But to purge them, best is simply copy and paste all the text into a text only TextEdit page, then cut that and paste it back into Pages as clean text.

  • BUG: Background Highlight extends to space after paragraph

    Hey,
there is an inherent bug in the functionality of the background color highlight of a text style.
    1. Create two paragraphs of text styled with the same paragraph style.
    2. Create a character style called Bold with the color backgroud property set to a color, let's say yellow.
    3. Adjust the spacing of your paragraph style to 20 pt and update the style.
    4. Apply the character style Bold to the last line of your first paragraph.
    5. The highlight will fill the gap, instead of simply staying behind the type.
The only workaround to avoid this is to create ghost paragraph breaks between the lines – this is pretty retro. Please fix. Generelly, the highlight fills the line space unevenly. Look at this screenshot:

This isn't a bug, the selection highlight shows the text and its spacing, the larger the spacing, the larger the highlight box will be.
This applies to any text in any application on the Mac, Keynote, Pages, Word, InDesign.

  • How to space after paragraph in pages

If I could do one thing with Pages on the iPad, I would be completely happy with it:  controlling the spacing after a paragraph.
This formatting feature is in the regular Pages and the cloud version.  Why leave it out of the iPad version?
Or is it there and just very difficult to find?

  • How do I put a space after a paragraph in Pages 5?

This is something I did frequently in older Pages versions and in Word. Where is the setting for space before and after paragraphs?

It's in the styles panel, but you have to click the triangle / disclosure icon for "Spacing".  This will expand the spacing section to show spacing before and after paragraph settings.

  • "Space After" Between Paragraphs

    Hi,
Is there a way in InDesign to set "Space After" and "Space Before" like you can in Quark?
I tried to look in all of the menus and couldn't find anything. It's probably there, just can't find it yet.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

The one on the left is space before, the one ont he right is space after. It's the same field whether you access it through the control panel or the paragaph panel. Note that the control panel is in paragraph mode, not character mode (In CS3 or CS4 the control panel may show these controls in either mode, depending on screen size and customizations, but they'll always be there in paragraph mode unless you've tuned them off).

  • Creating Space after a Paragraph Style

Okay, all, this may sound weird. All I want to do in CS4 is have an extra 4 pt of space after a particular paragraph style. Specifically, my paragraph style, Body Text, already has "space after" specified at 3 pt. Fine. But, for example, when I have three paragraphs of just this style, I want the three paragraphs separated by an additional 4 pt of space. (There is no consistency in documents when this situation occurs.)
At first, I thought it might be possible to do this via a nested character style. Nope. Back in FrameMaker, I used to do this manually, whenever I wanted extra space. My trainers would add paragraph tags (ugh).
    Still a newbie...
    Thanks!

Maybe I'm really missing your meaning here. When I override a style setting to get more space below, I add space below the *paragraph*. I don't adjust anything about the last line. This is no different in Framemaker. In Framemaker, you can add space above or below a paragraph, either as part of a style (what FM calls a "format") or as a style override. You don't "adjust the last line of a paragraph" in either program.
There's one important difference between FrameMaker's paragraph
spacing and most other DTP or WP tools: Space between FM paragraphs is
NOT ADDITIVE. Space below a paragraph is not added to space above the
following paragraph. In FM, the larger space wins. (I think Ventura
has this feature also, or perhaps has the option for additive or
    larger-one-wins.)
If the issue is to make inter-paragraph spacing work non-additively
like FM, please file a feature request for this as an option, at:
    www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
EDIT: The forum was unavailable for a while, and my email response was bounced. By the time I discovered the rejected mail, I saw Lizbeth's mention of having used Based-on paragraph styles. Probably the based-on style caused the mysterious behavior. The based-on property style information is only visible in the define/modify style dialog box. I'm going to enter a feature request for an indicator for the based-on property that will appears wherever a style's name appears, and, if possible, displays the name of the based on paragraph, character, and object style. Master pages do show the based-on master letter on the page icons in the pages panel, but they lose their own letter. I'll also ask for this feature.
