Space appearing in name of just one font family member
Hi, I have a problem with InDesign CS4 adding a space in the name of just one particular style of a font family.
This is happening with a company's custom-produced corporate typeface. It has a Font Suitcase file (named "XY Com") and four corresponding Type-1 PostScript files (named "XYCom", "XYComBol", "XYComIta" and "XYComBolIta") for the Regular, Bold, Italic and BoldItalic styles.
For the Regular version, InDesign CS4 lists the name as "XY Com", but for other styles it lists the family as "XYCom" (i.e. without a space in the name).
So as well as the family is not getting grouped properly in the various menus, ID also gives an error message about the 'missing' font when opening files created in ID2.0 which use the correct (?) name.
The problem just seems to be happening in ID CS4 (and IIRC in ID CS3, which I had installed briefly). In InDesign 2.0, the font family shows up correctly grouped, as likewise in Font Book, Linotype FontExplorer X, the standard OS X font selection dialog, etc.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Stewart.
ID CS4 v6.0, OS X v10.5.5.
Eric, thanks for the suggestions. I have tried deleting those files and clearing the font caches but the problem persists.
I have noticed that a different font with a Suitcase/PostScript file combination does not have the problem - but this font is different in that it has a Suitcase file for each PostScript font file, rather than one Suitcase file for several PostScript font file.
So, it looks like when there is a font family with a Suitcase file referencing multiple PostScript files, InDesign is using the long font name for one style (always the Normal/Regular style?) and the short font name for the others.
I wonder whether this is just happening on my own system or whether it is a general problem. Does anybody want to check?
Some example fonts that exhibit the problem are the Image Club Graphics fonts on the Adobe Action Pack Graphics CD that came with PageMaker a few years ago, if anybody has that lying around.
Cheers,
Stewhttp://www.adobeforums.com/Images/m/pstmsg.gifart.

How to remove thousands of file called with the same name with just one number most of the other
I've created this thousands of file with a python script, and i've tried to delete all of them using another python script which uses while command and it does work but it's really too slow and my finder crashes. I can't delete all of them manually because it would take forever and from the terminal i don't know how to delete them. The files haven't got an extension and are in my user directory, so please if somebody knows something to do tell me. (sorry for my english)
Yes there is a way. Post back with the following information:
1. With respect to your home directory, what is the exact folder that the files are in (ie, are they in the Documents folder, or in a subfolder within the Documents folder). What are the exact names (caps included) of these directories?
2. What is the exact name scheme of the files? You mentioned they are incremented numerically, but what are the rest of the files' names (again, capitalization is important)?
With this information, there are several ways to approach the problem, which will basically be four steps to ensure you do not inadvertently remove files you wish to keep:
1. Create a new folder to temporarily house the files.
2. Issue a command to target the files by name and move them into a separate folder.
3. Check the old parent folder to ensure nothing is missing, and optionally check the names of the moved items.
4. Finally delete the contents of the temporary folder, along with the folder itself.
The specifics of these steps will depend on the names of the files and the folder that they are in, so provide as much information as you can about that, and we can work through the steps. -
Have new iPad giving old one to family member
Hi can anyone take me through the steps needed to get this sorted. Want to keep photos on old one then register new one to my account and other to a new account
Will old one keep all apps and other things?
Will new one loaf all old stuff
Please helpYou won't be able to do exactly what you want. At least not directly
Read through this about wiping/moving stuff off your iPad and getting ti ready for resell/handing down
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5661
The only way to keep the photos would be to upload them somewhere and then redownload them once you set the iPad up for the new owner.
Apps aren't tied to a device. they're tied to the Apple ID, so when you set it up for the new owner and they put their ID on there, they'll have to start over with their apps. -
How to overload two different procedure with just one name in to package
i have created two procedure avg1 and avg2.avg1 calculate average of total salary based on e_id and avg2 calculate average based on j_id.now i want to create a package with specification and body where i want to use just one name -avg- for two different procedure.
You can overload the same name for procedure as long as their formal parameters differ in number, order, or datatype family.
Read more about overloading in documentation -
How to change font in just one column of JTable
I have a table with 4 column.
I want to have Courier font in column number 2, and Arial in columns number 1, 3 and 4.
With:
table.setFont(new Font("Courier New", Font.PLAIN, 12));
I can set fonts in all columns but how to set font in just one column.
Thanks
SrdanHi,
there are 2 methods of JTable where every rendering resp. editing component "comes" through - prepareRenderer(...) and prepareEditor(....) - by overwriting this methods and calling its super method first you get the component and can manipulate it before you return it. This component is exactly that, what is used for rendering resp. editing afterwards.

How do I send pictures from iphoto to a group via email instead of to just one individual? I can't type in more than one name or send the pictures to a group.
I had a similar problem in that my wife's iphone 5 could not send pics with imessage. Had to set the settings to default to SMS or whatever. After laboring many hours on the web I coincidentally was on the phone with the internet people to question my internet speed. They changed the router channel, which is something that I am capable of doing myself. After that, the pics go over imessage. My own Iphone didn't have the problem. We are both latest IOS 7.0.6.

The icon of faceTime doesn't appear in the dock just space for it and i can turn on the faceTime when I click to the space
If the above doesn't work, try a reset.
1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together)
2. For about 10 seconds
3. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)
4. Ignore the red slider -

How can I increase the font size of just one paragraph?
I am using Dreamweaver CS4. I want to increase the font size and style of just one paragraph, but the "page properties" changes the font size for the whole page. In this regard: how can I increase the font size (and style) for just one word. Thank you, Mr. Monroe
Nancy O.
How do I get to “CSS Properties”? Do I click on Window > CSS Styles?
When I click on Window > CSS Styles, I do not see the text “Custom Class.”
I tried inserting (manually) the HTML code you suggested for the paragraph I want to change and nothing happened. I tried [<span class=”16px”>text came in here</span)]
I read in a tutorial that after you create a CSS style sheet, all you have to do is select the text you want to apply it to and then attach the style sheet to that text. I can imagine, however, that there are some special steps that one has to perform in order to do this.
Thanks for your help.

Dual Core, but just one recognized [SOLVED]
In the last days I had problems with my computer just going off randomly after some time... As I found out the CPU fan was too loose... Now I somehow fastened it so it seems to work normally now.
Today I noticed (I'm not sure whether it's now the first time or I just didn't see it) that on booting I see just one Arch logo, although I have a Dual Core processor and normally there are 2 logos... I checked whether GRUB has the option nosmp set which was not the case. cat /proc/cpuinfo gave me just one core.. Then I tried to boot the arch live cd (the 2008.06) and cpuinfo had both there!
The BIOS says that there are still 2 as well... so my first idea, that one core is broken because of overheating seems to be wrong, it's impossible that just one core breaks, doesn't it?
So my question is - how do I get my core to be recognized again? I have the new 2.6.29 kernel.. could this be the problem?
My second question is - the information about launching daemons on booting appears AFTER showing the login prompt (I login via tty) [EDIT: This had to do with the OpenNTPD daemon...]

Identifying Full Font Family Names from Acrobat "Properties"
I routinely update PDFs where the originator is unavailable to question about typography issues. The problem I'm having currently, and continue to have, is that Acrobat (on V8) identifies font names differently from say...the Adobe Store.
For instance, currently I'm editing a PDF that uses fonts from the "HelveticaNeue" family. I don't have this font, so if I go over to the Adobe store and try to find it, I get multiple types of "HelveticaNeue" font, and none of them are exactly what Acrobat provides as the name.
For instance:
Acrobat says: HelveticaNeue-Black
Adobe store offers:
Helvetica Neue Std Black
Helvetica Neue 93 Black
Helvetica Neue 95 Black
and so on and so forth
But NO "HelveticaNeue-Black" is in the list.
Neither the spelling of the Acrobat font family, or the actual full name seem to match anything in the Adobe store.
So, does anyone know a way to figure out exactly which font family Acrobat has in the PDF?
Thanks in advance.Chris Souther asked:
"Does anyone know a way to figure out exactly which font family
Acrobat has in the PDF?"
PDF's may include individual fonts, not families. For the most part,
the font names shown are the actual font names. Or, more precisely,
the PS Font Names.
I'm looking at an older Type 1 font right now that has the following
names in its name table (or at least the ones I can see in FontLab):
Family Name: Helvetica Neue
Weight: Black
Style Name: Regular
PS Font Name: HelveticaNeue-Black
Full Name: Helvetica 95 Black
Menu Name: Helvetica 95
Fond Name: Helvetica 95
To prevent conflicts, Adobe did some name modification when they
created OpenType versions of fonts:
The OTF version of the same font shows:
Family Name: Helvetica 95 Black
Weight: Heavy
Style Name: Regular
PS Font Name: HelveticaNeue-Black
Full Name: Helvetica Neue 95 Black
Menu Name: Helvetica 95 Black
Fond Name: Helvetica 95 Black
It appears that either one of these might be the one used in your PDF
- and they should be interchangeable.
Just to confuse things further, the fontnames for embedded subsets may
be preceded by random 6-letter-and-a-plus-sign strings like HFTRDS+,
or in some cases where the PDF isn't produced by Adobe Acrobat,
TrueType fonts might have peculiar names like TT493875.
Note that with the exception of a small "webfonts' collection Adobe
has never produced Truetype fonts. If, as you indicated in another
gorup, you need to install these fonts, you need them in T1 or OpenType.

Terminal problem-weird appearance before name
When I open Terminal "n014h151" appears before my name
I never seen tihs before, usually its just Andrew$ or something simular.
I've been trying to use this comand sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash to empty my trash as i have a file in there about 78GB its my iphoto library and its taking forever to delete. i'm not having much luck. I'm wondering if something is wrong with my computer to have that weird combination of letters and numbers show up before the name.
Any suggestions and ideas would be apprecatedThe default prompt is
hostname:current_working_directory username$
where typically what you initially see for current_working_directory is a tilda ~ which is Unix shorthand for your home directory.
The thing that confuses most home users is that the bash shell takes the current IP address, does a reverse DNS lookup to get the name associated with that address, and plugs that into the hostname field of the prompt.
This gives the expected results when there is no outside your Mac DNS name associated with your IP address, as the Mac DNS lookup code will then substitute the System Preferences -> Sharing -> Computer name.
However, every once in a while, the reverse DNS lookup returns a value, and you get some very strange results for hostname.
While confusing, sometimes annoying, it is harmless.
With respect to deleteng files from the trash, if you have a lot of file it can take awhile to delete each file. If the space used by those files is a lot (and 78GB is a lot) AND you specified "Secure Erase" it can take a very long time to erase the contents of each file, before freeing the storage.
But having your hostname say n014h151 is harmless.
If you do not use Terminal all that much, just ignore it. If you use Terminal enough that this kind of uncertanty bothers you, then you can tell 'bash' to use the prompt you want.
Try creating, or modify .bash_profile and adding:
PS1='$(networksetup -getcomputername):\W \u\$ '
NOTE; the bash shell uses just one of the following, looking for them in the following order
.bash_profile
.bash_login
.profile
If and only if one of these files exist. You would choose to put the PS1 promot into the one that exists, or create a .bash_profile if non-of them exist. -
How do I share just one movie (not my entire library) from my itunes library with an authorized computer using home sharing?
many thanks.
That should be possible.
From his library connect to your library via Home Sharing.
Select the name of the shared library in the source pane of your itunes, and click on the wee disclosure triangle to the left of the name of the library. Does "Films" appear beneath the name of the library?
Here's a screenshot of what I mean.
Select "Films". In the right-hand pane you should see the item you want to transfer. Just select that item, and click "Import".
Use the same basic technique to get one or a few songs from your library transferred to his library. (The only difference is that you would have "Music" selected instead of "Films".
If you don't want him to have access to other items in your library, you could just switch Home Sharing off on his library after you've done the transfers. -
Mplayer can't play files with spaces in their name
After scratching my head and reinstalling codecs several times without luck, and old memory resurfaced of this occuring before and I managed to solve the problem.
The thing is that if you doubleclick a file in Nautilus, and said files has spaces in its name, mplayer won't be able to play it, and gives a very cryptic error message, ie "cannot play file a%20b.avi" if the name of the file is "a b.avi".
The trick is mentioned in this thread -- you edit /usr/share/applications/mplayer.desktop and change 'Exec=gmplayer %U' to 'Exec=gmplayer %F'.
The bug has been around forever, and hasn't been fixed yet. Perhaps the mplayer devs don't want to fix it. In any case, I would propose that either we fix this in the mplayer Arch package, or that someone more knowledgeable than I get in touch with the devs about it.
Just a suggestion, but I think it's kind of important. It's really confusing to new users. In my opinion, it it's not arch's job to fix bugs from upstream, no matter if it's mplayer or gnome's fault. Of course there are exceptions, eg if a bug in a critical package hardlocks the whole system, or adds a huge security risk.
I would like to belive that the general arch user is smart enough to find one of the 30 threads about this bug (or the entry on the bugtracker) and fix it themselves. Personaly I would put this in the same category as packages that don't have a .desktop file at all from upstream.
