Space designer causes crash - any suggestions??

Hello people
I just started running logic 8 on a new imac and I have a big problem with space designer.
Everything will be going sweet (well kinda). I open SD and things are still fine, but if I try to open any preset then it crashes. Complete freeze, have to force quite and try again...
This also stops me from opening any of my old Logic 7 songs as I use SD on most tracks, so I guess that is what is causing it to hang...
Any suggestions?
I have tried trashing the prefs, but no joy still.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Now tried the same thing on iPad and iPad Mini. Didn't work and not even my documents show on iPad. Very frustrating as can't use Pages at all. Apple need to sort this.

ITunes8 Visualizer Crashing - Any suggestions?

I waited to install iTunes8 until a fix for the Vista crashing was issued, so no problems there. But when I try to use the new Visualizer, it runs fine until I try to back out, and then it crashes the whole program and resets the Library to the last time I restarted the program. Using the classic visualizer I have no problems. My display drivers are up-to-date, that was the first thing I tried. I really like the look of the new program, but I can't use it if it's going to cause problems like this, so I don't suppose anyone knows why it might be doing this, or have any suggestions?

A common solution to almost all situations in which an ios device crashes is to do a soft reset and then a hard one. Hold the Sleep/Power button and the home button until the screen turns off then let go of the buttons and hold the power button for a second or two to reboot your ios device. I know when i start to get crashing apps, a soft reset like that 90% of the time fixes all crashing. Sometimes you're ios device just gets filled with cache, cookies, garbage and holds on to data no longer relevant, effectively, slowing your device. This leads to crashing of apps and slower overall programs. Try a soft reset and see if that stops it from crashing. I would recommend a soft reboot once a week

Space designer causing cpu spike overload

Hope you guys can help with this, it's beginning to annoy me. I'm currently unable to use space designer reliably. I had this problem in Logic 8 and it's still happening in 9. I have one instance of SD in my current project and it's causing cpu spikes that are giving me errors. The funny thing is that the error happens just after a region that is being sent to the reverb has ended. the cpu meter then gradually rises until the error stops playback. If I turn SD off i don't get these problems or if I disable SD via automation when it's not needed it seems ok also. What the **** is this about? The thing is I really like the sound of SD and miss it when I have to use different reverbs. Anyone else having these issues? I read on another thread that setting all your inputs to "no input" helps but for me it doesn't. What else can I try?

Just to clarify, I am getting the spike once the audio data stops sending through the SD plugin (whilst the song is still playing). So, for example I may send a 10 second bit of audio through the plug - this works fine. Then once the audio stops sending and the reverb trail finishes....I then get the CPU going mad - and yet there is complete silence within the song - there is nothing else playing!
This has got to be a bug or conflict of some kind - my computer spec is massive and should be able to cope with a stereo bit of audio through one plugin! (Hope this makes sense.)
There have been a couple of posts similar but no answers as yet...
Wondering whether it is a conflict with UAD plugins or something which limits the reproduction of this bug...I have noticed that if I remove all UAD plugins from the channel strip in question, the error tends not to reappear - but the issue is unique to the SD plugin.

Bouncing my track keeps making my mac crash- any suggestions ??

I have finished a track and want to bounce it. Ive tried on my mac book pro, but it crashes very soon and say logic had quit unexpectedly. Ive tried bouncing the track several parts at a time IE only the bass line tracks, then the percussion etc etc, but no matter what it crashes. Ive transfered the track to my G5 which has more RAM but the same thing happens. Ive bounced tracks before on my G5 no problem which has loads more parts automation etc. Obviously there is something within the project file thats is making this happen, has any1 had similar problems or know what i can check to try ans resolve this ?

I've had a problem like this before. I found that my projects were crashing whilst bouncing, and it was always seemed to be at the same point of the bounce?
Try to find out what track is causing it to crash, by looking to see roughly where it crashes. Then check your automation at the point of the crash, if there is any automation on the point of crash ie "cutoff filter" take the automation off and try to re bounce. If that works out to be the problem, then I would suggest downloading the latest update for that plug-In. I had problems with Novation V station, and it was cured by downloading the update from there site.

The issue appears to be an iBooks iPad issue (portrait view). I noticed that iBooks crashes when I tap on any TOC item that is listed 12 or more deep in a TOC subcategory. I completely stripped the document to just one chapter, used Lorem Ipsum dummy text, and removed all widgets and any hyperlinks and the issue remains. It has to be a bug in iBooks.
For this particular book I need a detailed TOC so this is a major issue. Very frustrating!

I get an error message when I try to empty the trash in order to clear up an external hard drive. I had been using it for time machine, have shifted that to a larger external hard drive, and want to free up the space for photographs. Any suggestions?

Yes. And you should not have moved that folder. Put it back. To move your iTunes library move the folder from User's Music.

I am having trouble getting buttons to work in Captivate 8 trial version using a responsive design template. Any suggestions?

I have a trial version of Captivate 8 that I am evaluating to determine if it will be an option to replace a software we currently use. However I am having a lot of trouble getting even the simplest of tasks to work using the responsive design template. To troubleshoot I created 2 projects 1st a completed empty project using responsive design and a 2nd blank project using the blank project template. I created an audio file that the button, when pressed, will play. I can place a button on first slide of both projects, rollovers work fine, but in the responsive design project buttons will not work to trigger the action. Is this a known issue in the trial version?

A Blank project is a normal cptx-project, not a responsive project, it has no breakpoint views like a responsive project, it is meant to have always the same layout but on publishing you can choose to have it 'rescale' automatically. A responsive project allows you to create slightly different layouts for the three breakpoint views: Primary (desktop/laptop/landscape on tablets), Tablet (portrait on tablet) and mobile (phones, where the browser has much lower resolution than the real phone resolution). The 'look' of a project, whether it is responsive or not will be defined by the Theme that is the default theme at that moment, and with the default theme colors that you have at that moment. I think in newbie mode the default theme is White (not sure, never used newbie mode). If you choose another theme as default theme, a blank project and a responsive project will open with that theme applied to it. All themes coming with CP8 are responsive, but you can use them also for normal projects, in that case you only use the object styles for Primary view. Each object style normally has 3 versions, for the 3 breakpoint views.

After downloading firmware for airport utility, airport express base station no longer registers with airport utility on my Mac. Now the base station is blinking amber with no info of what is causing all this to happen. Any suggestions?

There are only a couple of things you can do to resuscitate a nonresponsive Express:
"Hard reset":
Press and hold the reset button with a pen or pencil until you see the status light (LED) start to flash amber rapidly, which should occur after about five seconds.
If that does not work,
"Factory defaults reset":
Unplug the Express from power.
Press and hold the reset button with a pen or pencil, then plug the Express back in while continuing to hold the button until you see the light (LED) flash rapidly. This should happen after a few seconds.
Release the button.
In either case you will have to reconfigure the Express as a new device. A moment or two after it has been reset, the LED should be blinking slowly. It must then appear in your Wi-Fi menu like this:
Earlier versions of OS X will report it as "Apple Network nnnnnn".
In either case, select it, and then launch AirPort Utility.
If it does no appear in your Wi-Fi menu after it has been reset using one of the two techniques above, it is defective. Other than attempting another reset, there is nothing you can do.

I have the original AIR recently it has really slowed down. Every function usually gets the pinwheel. It is up to date and has 10g of free disk space. Any suggestions as to the cause?

New iPhone 4 keeps crashing my iTunes- any suggestions as to why?

I've registered my new iphone 4 with iTunes on my Mac- all fine, Apps, Contacts, iCal and so on. The music library is too large to fit so I've hit 'Automatically fill free space with songs".
Now every time I plug in it Syncs but whenever I try to do something manual in the iPhone through iTunes, it pretty much crashes it.
Any suggestions what is causing this and how I might fix it?

Space Designer preset select crash

I'm running Logic Studio (upgraded from L7) on a core duo iMac, osx 1.4.10
Selecting a preset in Space Designer crashes Logic.
Any preset does this and it does it every time.
Anyone else experiencing this?

So:
Spotlight off = Spacedesigner crashes while selecting preset.
Spotlight on = No crash.
I never would have guessed that. To tell you the truth, Logic8 loads a little faster now as well. Cool.

First boot up crash ever! Any suggestions?

I just booted up my Mac and a black and white screen showed up briefly with a lot of data on it. That window changed and the next advised me to hold down the start up button until the Mac rebooted. It's working fine, although recently it has slowed down a great deal in bodting up. Any suggestions as to what I should do at this point? Here is the data it gave me once I was up and running again:

Any of these could be culprits. You would need to uninstall them per the developer's instructions.

That's not a crash, it's a kernel panic. You should see if there are any updates for these. Little Snitch should be at 2.5.4.
Or, you needn't completely uninstall the program suspected of creating these panics. This may not necessarily work, but the worst that can happen is it will fail. For example, this won't work for Little Snitch. Far better than completely uninstalling the full program.
For any of the possible culprit kernel extensions (.kext), it is not necessary to completely uninstall the parent program.
You can temporarily uninstall any .kext, which may be causing the problem, by doing the following: Open Terminal in Applications>Utilties and copy/paste
sudo kextunload
Important, leave a space after kextunload
Next, navigate to the /System/Library/ and select Extensions. Inside that folder, find the related .kext in question, which you should drag into the Terminal window. (After dragging it in, the file will stay where it belongs in its original location.) This will automatically fill the Terminal window with the name and path to the file.
This is an example only of what the full command will then look like; it will not necessarily be found on your computer.
sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/PaceSupportFamily.kext/
Hit return. If you have never used the sudo prefix before, you will get a warning, which you can disregard. Then enter your admin password, which you won't see on the screen as you type it in and hit return. Wait for the $ sign prompt to reappear, which will indicate the extension has been unloaded. Then just close the window.
This will have the effect of disabling the program. If it fails to be the source of the problem, to reload/enable it, substitute kextload for kextunload, using the above procedure.
