Space for a heatsink
Thinking about investing in a new heatsink and can't decide between the ZALMAN CNPS7000B-Cu and the ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU.
Does anyone have either of these? And if so would you recommend them?
One thing that is bother me is that I am wondering whether or not it will fit. Anyone using one of these with an nforce 3 mobo and have plenty of space?
Quote from: Gilly on 08-June-05, 00:15:21
on the Neo2 the 7700 cannot be used, the 7000 is a pain using arctic silencers as well :(
Why is a pain use the silencer one with the zalman one?
I have nv silencer 5 rev 1 with zalman 7000 Cu on K8n Neo2 platinum and all is ok except than i get 35 on idle in processor and 55 on load.
And the 6800gt is 61 on idle and over 85+ on load, but i suppose that is because the nv silencer is a poor cooling (better silencing)
Do you say "pain" talking about this?
And...
30 idle and 40 on load with a Zalman7000?
Load? What load?
Light load?
Prime95 load?
Two aerojet fans near the zalman?
Please explain me

Software Update Server - Deleting old updates to make space for new ones
On Page 77 of the SystemImage_and_SW_Updatev10.4.pdf Apple recommends "deleting old updates to make space for new ones". I've looked and searched and yet to find a way to do this. The Server Admin interface and the command line options I've looked into don't appear to provide this option.
So I actually tried stopping the server, moving the updates from /usr/share/swupd/html to another location, starting the server, the server wouldn't start, moving the files back again, the server still won't start.
1. Does anyone know how you're supposed to "Delete old updates to make space for new ones"
2. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get Software Update service running again?

My 16gb iPhone 4S keep tell me that my storage is almost full and I don't have enough space for any upgrades. I don't have any music or videos on my phone. I deleted all old emails, texts, contacts and apps but still nothing. When I check my settings, I noticed that my Instagram is at 732mb and it keeps rising. Now it's at 814mb. Please help!!!!!
What is the precise wording of the message that is occurring?
Are you attempting to update via iTunes on a computer or over the air on the device?
How much free space is actually on the device?
If updating via iTunes on the computer, how much free space on the computer? -
hey iphone an iphone 3g and i only have about 13 apps and the yellow bar on itunes for my phone is way to big i deleted all my photos all my music every thing i ryed restoring ans all it still takes up space for sum reason ?? please someone help me
If Other (the yellow bar) is too big something is corrupted. The only solution (that I know of) is to restore from your most recent backup using iTunes (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).

Problem with Java Memory "Could not reserve enough space for object heap"
Hi gurus,
I am not an expert with Java´s configuration, and I have a situation that I don´t understand. First of all, I am working at Centos 6.2 with jdk_1.6 and Tomcat 7.
The problem is...
- If I run Tomcat with JAVA_OPTS="-Xmx128m"* (at catalina.sh) all works fine.
- If I run Tomcat with JAVA_OPTS="-Xmx512m"* (at catalina.sh) an error appears:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
This appear when I run java -version or when I try to stop Tomcat, and the Tomcat isn´t able to stop.
The strange thing is that my server has more than 200M free in physical memory. So, why Tomcat isn´t able to stop? and Why Java doesn´t use the free memory in my server?
Thanks in advanced.Hello EJP, thanks for your answer.
I have explained bad.
The server has 703M free when Tomcat is stopped. I had mentioned that my server has more than 200M free in physical memory when Tomcat is running with JAVA_OPTS="-Xmx512m", so I don´t understand why these errors appear.
Do you understand me?
Recently I have checked the swap memory, and it is disabled. In spite of swap memory is disabled I think java wouldn´t need this memory because it has free physical memory
Thanks again. -
I tried to download the upgrade, now it won't install and I can not access my documents. It said Vi did not have enough space for the upgrade so I made room but still no luck. If I delete the ap and reinstall I will lose my stuff. Any ideas? It won't open so I can email it to myself.
What upgrade are you trying to install? Your profile shows iOS 5.1.1, which is the current max iOS.
Cheers, Tom -
itunes is copying/converting 500gb of music from .wma to .m4a files that are on an external drive onto my laptop which doesnt have enough room. how do i reroute these newly converted files somewhere with enough space for them?
new to itunes, used windows media player before that and always ripped music directly to an external hardrive and accessed it through the player. now that i downloaded itunes it is taking from the external hardrive and copying a second file for each song onto my lap top hard drive which does not have the capacity for all my music. as itunes converts music files i want them saved back onto my external drive or another location i have space for rather than the lap top. how do i change the setting to move the itunes media folder to another location. assuming that hitting copy and past and dropping it in a random location will cause a few errors. When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file. -
Recently, our mail server crashed at about 7pm one night, with the error 'There is no more space for virtual disk ServerName_2.vmdk. You might be able to continue this session by freeing disk space on the relevant volume, and clicking Retry. Click Cancel to terminate this session.'
When we click Retry, the server starts up OK.
There are no snapshots listed in Snapshot manager for any of the virtual machines on the host.
There is also free disk space available on the host and for the VM with the disk errors.
This happened at least three more times, often at bad times. Each time, we were able to click 'Retry' and the disk/system would allow the VM to start-up successfully.
I checked the Forums, the VMware support articles and the internet as I had not seen this problem before. I have completed the VSphere 5.1 - Fast Track course and this issue was NOT covered in the training.
Most of the advice on-line and even that on the VMware web-site was pointing to snapshots being the cause of this issue. There are no snapshots enabled and I cannot see evidence of snapshots ever being used.
- We are running VMware vsphere (5.1.0) and there are (were) 4 virtual machines running on the ESX host. We are using the free version of VMware/ESXi.
- The Hard disk types we are using for this Virtual Machine are 'Thin Provisioned'.
- There are 4 [Thin Provisioned] Hard Disks for this virtual machine.
- There are 6 CPUs
- There is 20GB of RAM (memory)
- The VM is running Windows Server 2008 R2 as the guest/VM operating system. It is an Exchange 2010 SP1 mail server. There is plenty of available disk space on all the drives. The [Exchange] log files are cleaned out regularly (automated).
I decided to move one of our non-critical servers off this host and on to another host to see if this helped the problem. This took quite some time, as we are not using HA or vmotion, nor do we have VCenter Server...nonetheless, I finally managed to get the non-critical server on to another host (n.b. This was a much smaller machine with less virtual resources assigned to it).
After moving the non-critical server off this host, we decided to monitor the Host and see if the issue resolved itself.
I checked the host about 6-10 times a day, from first thing in the morning till last thing at night - monitoring the performance of not only the Virtual Machine, but the ESXi host also.
There were no adverse performance issues. The only thing I did note, was in the Summary page on the ESX Host, under Storage, was If I right-clicked on the datastore and clicked refresh, then the free disk space would drop (ie from 140GB to 125GB).
After monitoring the host and VM for about 2 weeks, we did NOT have another instance of the above error.
Sorry for the long winded post, but I wanted to give as much detail given this error has been raised before and snapshots are usually blamed as the cause.
My question is this:
If the ESX host had plenty of available disk capacity and there were no snapshots enabled on the VM (or any other VM's on the same host), then why did our Virtual machine crash with the error that 'there is not more space for virtual disk Servername_2.vmdk'?
How do we prevent this issue from happening if we don't know the underlying cause?
I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions.
If I have not provided enough info on the specs or environment, please let me know and I will provide more information.
Thanks all,
KurtThe type of storage is really based on your requirements, and your ability to withstand downtime.
iSCSI as you are using with a NAS such as Synology or QNAP. NAS Selector - Support - Synology - Network Attached Storage (NAS)
I wouldn't use iSCSI for Exchange or any database. It's a bit slow.
Do you have a single physical host? Then I'd probably to an external direct attached storage. This would be a card inserted in your host server that gives you multilane SAS/SATA connectivity (www.techcable.com/SAS-SATA/SAS-SATA.pps) and an external disk enclosure/array.
For multiple hosts to a single array, I recommend a fibre channel connection to a FC capable switch, and on to a FC connected array.
We used to use a HP P2000 (on old G1), but it's since been retired. Worked pretty well once firmware was upgraded. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/disk-storage/product-detail.html?oid=4118559#!tab=features. They can be connected via iSCSI, Fibre Channel or 6GB SAS so they are flexible and reasonably priced.
Recommendations:
Use RAID 6 with your large disk arrays. With large disks there is a measurable failure rate when rebuilding a failed RAID5 array based on MTBF.
Use smaller 15K disks in RAID 0+1 for speed on databases/Exchange.
Use slower 7.2K disks in RAID6 for file storage.
We are a small hospital and we have 3 VMware servers with dual CNA (FC and Ethernet in a single twinax cable) connections to 2 redundant Cisco Nexus 5K switches and then 4 Fibre Channel connections to an EMC VNX 5300. It's extremely fast with about 50 virtual servers, but was quite an investment. One thing we don't have to worry about is down time. If there ever is an equipment failure, we have redundant everything, including power split between two UPSs.
Our VNX has 3 tiers of performance. 3 100GB SSD "Fast Cache" in RAID 1 with hot spare, to keep the most used data ready, but it's not really a tier, however one could be built utilizing the same disks. A second tier is performance tier with a 8 600GB RAID 0+1 and hot spare. The third is a bunch of 7.2K 3TB disks in RAID6. The VNX autotiers, placing data on disks depending on where it's needed. The volumes are sliced and diced automatically in the background to make this happen and we never have to touch it. I used a demo of Solarwinds Storage Manager to monitor performance for a while and the utilization was always low, meaning all data access was fast, througout the day.

Firstly, I can't open iPhoto on my macbook as of a few days and could it have anything to do with a problem I have updating my iPhone's software as I've downloaded extra iCloud storage but I still can't get the iPhone to recognise the space for software
No. With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
For the iPhone issue ask in the iPhone forum.

How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)? I can sync with iTunes but it doesn't copy these songs back, even though they still appear in my iTunes library. I can click on the Music link under 'On My Device' in iTunes and the missing songs all appear to still be on the device, but they are not. I normally delete using iTunes and do not have this issue. This time I was out and needed more space to shoot photos and videos so I removed a lot of music from my phone through the Music App.
The songs I'm trying to reload on my phone are on my PC. These we had loaded into iTunes. I can remove them all from the library and then add them all back one by one I imagine. The problem I'm having is that I removed them manually from the phone, they still appear in iTunes music library yet they won't sync. I don't want to take the time to compare the phone to my library, remove from the library what's missing on the phone and then add them all back again. 64GB (mostly music) will take a while.

Hello community,
I used to have storage problems on my phone, and chose to delete WhatsApp since it consumed nearly a whole gigabyte on my phone. I thought that through deleting it and reinstalling, it would get rid of the overload of data and start fresh. However, once I got to the page to restore from a back-up of my messages, I didn't have enough space on my phone. So I did further research into how to free up some space (turned out I had a lot of deleted photos hiding in my phone which should've been totally gone) and managed to get nearly 500 MB free. So I went back to my WhatsApp app, and tried to restore the back-up since it says the size of the back-up is 360 MB. However, it still gives the following error message that it had given me before:
"Sorry, there isn't enough room on you iPhone to restore from your iCloud backup. Make room by deleting existing videos or photos and try again."
I didn't (and still don't) understand why it says there is no room on my phone even though I had about 450 MB free. I have tried switching my phone off and then back on. Still, I get the same message. I have also tried deleting WhatsApp again and re-installing it but still I get the same message, still when I have enough room on my phone. By now, I have already consumed my storage on other apps so I don't have much space left anyway, making the error message reasonable.
I would really appreciate if anyone could just throw me some possible solutions that could solve the problem of WhatsApp not recognizing that I've got enough space for it on my iPhone to restore all my messages. I would like them back because I have some important and nice message threads I would love to have retrieved. Remember, I have already tried switching my phone off and back on and also deleting WhatsApp when I had sufficient storage. Currently I don't have enough storage, which makes sense for the error message to appear, but if anyone gives me a possible solution I will make way for enough storage and try the solution.
Also a weird thing is that at first, I still got notifications of messages people sent me through private chat (so not group chat). I don't know what it exactly means, but hopefully that helps with finding a solution.
If you think that I might as well post this question on a WhatsApp forum, please tell me, because it does indeed seem like it lies on the app and not my phone.
Thank you all anyway for reading and wanting to help.

Error in "Checking Availabe Space for the DB2 UDB for Unix..." phase
Hello,
We are in the middle of an Upgrade proyect from R/3 4.6C (kernet 4.6D EXT) to ECC 6.0.
As a first step we are doing an Heterogenous System Copy to migrate from servers with HP-UX B11.11/Informix 9.4 to servers with AIX 5.3/DB2 UDB 8.
We already did the database import with no errors. When we are installing R3 4.6C in the target server we are getting u201CMemory Fault (coredump)u201D error in the u201CChecking Availabe Space for the DB2 UDB for Unix, Windows Tablespacesu201D phase.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Could not reserve enough space for object heap in Jdeveloper 11g R1
Hi,
I tried to increase the JVM heap size with Virtual machine = server and the value as -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512M -Djbo.debugoutput=console in the project properties->Run/Debug/Profile->Default-Edit, but still getting the below error.
Any help is appreciated.

Process exited. This is telling you that there is not enough memory for the heap size you've specified. Increasing the heap size makes this worse, not better. You need more physical memory.

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
- Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
- Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.
To move mdia to the new computer see:

Is there a discrete, limited space for apps on the macbook air?
I bought a new "air" for my wife and she loves it but ... Yesterday a message popped up about insufficient space for apps. The box popped up repeatedly and could not be dismissed. Today, on "spec" I deleted the Google Chrome app and restarted the machine and now it seems OK. I want to know more.
Darrell Mcdonald wrote:
The computer has 128GB and when I checked I found about 100 available. However, that was after we got it started again. When the message was appearing we could do nothing with the computer.
I realize this is a small "hard drive" but she has had it only 2 weeks and it is not loaded up (yet). What I really want to know is if discrete sections of the solid state drive have been pre-designated for certain tasks. Specifically is there a limited amount of space given to apps?
No, there is just 'space' and you can put anything you want in it.
How much space is free on your hard (ssd) drive
