Space for Photos on iPhone

To free up memory on my iPhone,I decided to remove all the photos and videos.
I backed up everything to my Mac (using ITunes) and then went through and deleted all the photos and videos from my iPhone. I changed my iTunes sync instructions to sync *nothing* from iPhoto so it wouldn't place anything back on the iPhone. I then sync'd the iPhone with iTunes.
Afterward, iTunes (and the iPhone) shows zero photos in my camera roll, but "photos" still take up 4.2GB of memory in the capacity ledger! What is happening? And how can I clear this memory space?

Ok...when in doubt, exit out of everything & restart.
Suddenly, all the applications know one another again and all is well. Problem solved.

How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)? I can sync with iTunes but it doesn't copy these songs back, even though they still appear in my iTunes library. I can click on the Music link under 'On My Device' in iTunes and the missing songs all appear to still be on the device, but they are not. I normally delete using iTunes and do not have this issue. This time I was out and needed more space to shoot photos and videos so I removed a lot of music from my phone through the Music App.

The songs I'm trying to reload on my phone are on my PC. These we had loaded into iTunes. I can remove them all from the library and then add them all back one by one I imagine. The problem I'm having is that I removed them manually from the phone, they still appear in iTunes music library yet they won't sync. I don't want to take the time to compare the phone to my library, remove from the library what's missing on the phone and then add them all back again. 64GB (mostly music) will take a while.

Disk space for photos not deleting

I have an iPhone 6 where I deleted all photos and videos, then deleted them again from the recently deleted folder. Yet, usage shows my photo library still taking up 3.8GB of space. Can anyone tell me how to delete for good?

Aperture app for photos on iPhone instead of iPhoto app

I recently got Aperture and have been converting iPhoto pictures over to Aperture.
I have the iPhoto app (standard with the iPhone) with a few 100 pictures.
I thought that I could add an App for Aperture to the iPhone for the pictures but cannot find it in the app store in iTunes.
I have no problem continuing iPhoto as an app for the phone, but think it would be easier.
So the question is : is there an iPhone app for Aperture that allows the viewing of the photos thru the iPhone as can be done by the iPhoto app ?
I have the iPhone 3, ISO 4
I am planning on getting the next generation iPhone (5 ?) if that is the issue then obviously I will wait and continue with iPhone.

The Photos app on the iPhone is not specific to iPhoto. It will also show photos from Aperture.
Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes and select it from the Devices list. Then click the Photos tab at the top. There's a popup menu "Sync photos from". This is where you decide whether you want photos from iPhoto or Aperture on your iPhone. Don't forget to sync if you change the setting.
Using this automatic syncing you can only have it sync to one application at a time. However, if you want photos from both, you can instead choose to sync from a folder using the same popup menu. Just export the photos you want on your phone from both iPhoto and Aperture into this folder. The upside is you have complete control over what gets synced. The downside is it is a totally manual process.

Trying to create more space for photos

I am trying to download photos off my camera, from the memory stick. But the iPad keeps telling me its full!! So I keep deleting great big quantities of photos, but this does not help. Please help!!!

"Not enough space for photos" alert when there is enough space

Hello,
I have a 2nd Gen iPod nano with 4GB, it's about 1.5 years old and till now I could always solve any problems I've had with it, but now it seems my problem hasn't occurred to anyone else ever...
Putting photos on my iPod has worked fine since I did it for the first time a year ago, but I took all photos off again pretty soon. Now I tried to put some on the iPod again, but it won't work. I get the following pop up alert:
"No photos were copied to the iPod because there is not enough free space on the iPod to hold your photos and albums."
I've cleared more and more space until I had 20 MB free. The photos I tried to sync had a size of about 380 KB all together. And still iTunes pretends there wasn't enough space. In the Features Guide it said that only so much space is necessary as the photos themselves will use up. Why won't iTunes sync the selected folder?
Anyone else has had and solved this problem? Please help.

I've seen this issue before, and it appears to be a quirk on the iPod software.
That 20MB you cleared is still not enough to sync your photos even though the photos use up less space than that.
You need to clear even more space on your iPod before you can sync these photos. Try clearing small amounts at a time until the photos sync.
I've never seen a plausible explanation why the nano behaves this way.

How much space for photos on Apple TV screensaver?

I use Home Sharing through iTunes on my computer to view photos on the Apple TV. I've selected my Home Sharing photos for the screensaver, but I noticed that not all of the photos show up on the screensaver. I have about 800 MB of photos in the folder I use for Home Sharing with the Apple TV. I'm assuming that there are too many photos for the screensaver to handle. Does anyone know how many MB of photos can be used by the screensaver?

Storage space for photos

I want to buy either a 64 0r 32gb Ipad to take with me on holidays. I shoot my pictures in RAW format. If I used this the Ipad to down load my pictures for storage how many can be stored? I will have minimal apps on the device.

The iPad is not a very good device for storage of photos. When photos are imported to the iPad, they are "optimized" for viewing on the iPad, so you may lose some of the resolution. Also it's not easy to export or delete the photos from the iPad. Also when photos are imported, the photo file name does not appear on the iPad display.

If Other (the yellow bar) is too big something is corrupted. The only solution (that I know of) is to restore from your most recent backup using iTunes (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).

i thought the photo stream only holds 1000 i usuaaly take each month and save them to iphoto but if thats the my ipad should say the same amount and it doesnt - it shows 2.5 gig which is correct for iphoto. and i havent ever had that much but if for some reason icloud has that much saved how do i delete and again if it does why doesnt ipad show that amount _ HELP!

1. What format is the external drive? It sounds like it's ina format that Macs can't write to. Is it a NAS or NTFS?
2. Easiest thing: just move your iPhoto Library to the external
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

HT1386 Recently I updated iTunes on my PC and now the "Summary" for syncing my iPhone no longer appears near the top of my iTunes Window. The Summary lists items that I can sync with my iPhone such as "Music, Photos, Apps" etc.

"Summary" lists items I can sync such as "Music, Photos, Apps", etc with drop-down boxes I can use to manage how I sync those items. An icon for my iPhone does appear near the top right corner of the iTunes window; however, when I click on the icon, the sync automatically begins and there is no display of what is syncing or how much space has been used or how much space is left for syncing music, photos, apps, etc. The new iTunes window no longer lists "Devices" on the left-hand side of the window. Has anyone had the same issue?

In iTunes go to View>Show Sidebar.

Why is "fill free space" no longer leaving space for more photos or deleting music when I want to add other things

My iPhone 4 with iOS 5 update doesn't seem to sync as smoothly as before. Before it used to allow some space for more photos. Or if I added a photo album toit would delete some of the "free space" music to make room for what I was adding. Now it just seems to cram almost all the space and just leave the music there not chaning anything with each sync.

Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. Choose no and it will default to manual mode and from there you can choose the selected playlist option: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

Photos for Mac stuck importing photos from iPhone

I recently upgraded to Photos for Mac from Aperture. Upgrading the library went fairly smoothly. On my first attempt to import photos from my iPhone 6, Photos is now stuck in the import process.
The import tab (device selected) shows the following:
Already imported (2,509 items)
New items (442 items)
No thumbnail images are visible (just the default grey squares indicating items)
At the top of this screen is an import progress bar that has not shown any progress. This progress indicator says "Importing 442 items" but the bar itself remains grey; I'm assuming there would be either a black or colored indicator showing some progress when the import process is working correctly.
After about an hour with no indication of progress, I selected the "Stop Import" option, with no noticeable results. I tried clicking the Stop Import button several more times, still with no results. Let things be for about five minutes, with no change in status. The import still seems stuck; clicking the stop button does nothing.
Next, I quit the Photos application. An error sheet appears: "Do you want to continue importing? Photos is currently importing files. If you quit the import task will be canceled." I select "Quit".
Now Photos gets stuck closing the library. All app windows close except for a tiny square that says: "Closing the library..." The library does not close and I run out of patience waiting for it to do so and force quit the application.
I am using a 27-inch late-2009 iMac
8GB memory
2.66 GHz Intel Core i5
177GB storage space available
Photos 1.0
Photo library is approx. 107GB

Update: Force Quitting and restarting the app apparently solved whatever was preventing importation of photos from the iPhone.

The same pictures in iPhone utilises half the storage space than in the iPad.

Photos on the ipad should take up little more space than It does on The iPhone because of the screen resolutions size.
Keep in mind If the photos are being stored on the device by Photo stream they will Take up less Space or if The photo Are being store by itunes syncing they may take up a little more.
