Spacebar + Moving not working

A while ago it became impossible for me to use the most desired function in Photoshop; I could no longer drag the display by simply holding the spacebar. After looking or some information online, it came to my attention that many people were experiencing the same issue. Appearantly there are many rather 'small' settings that can cause this issue.
First of all... ALWAYS make sure to have your software up to date when you are experiencing issues with your software!
In most cases this issue is being caused by external programs. Therefore I'd recommend you to troubleshoot these programs first.
Issue caused by external programs.
Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and in some cases other applications can cause this issue to arise. Try shutting down programs trough taskmanager. Check one by one to see if, and which application is causing the issue.
On laptops the mousepad can have additional settings that could conflict with the shortcut. In most cases this is some kind of a delay on the touchpad to prevent unintentional clicking while typing (TouchGuard, etc..). Check these settings if you are working on a laptop.
Issue caused by Adobe Photoshop.
When starting Photoshop from an user account other than your own, it should start from scratch. Seeing it does not contain your personal preferences and settings, this is the best way to make sure that the settings are fine.
In case you are unable to use a different account, or want to troubleshoot somewhat more, check the following:
By holding down the CTRL, SHIFT and ALT buttons while Photoshop is starting, this will give you the option to reset all settings.
Open the following directories, look for the Photoshop folders and edit the folder name by adding .old at the end.
%localappdata%\adobe
%appdata%\adobe
Re-install software. When performing this step, make sure the folders shown above are renamed as well.

I suspected the same .But in the keyboardviewer When im pressing cntl+spacebar it is showing the keys have been pressed visually. Thats what is making me to worry more.
But Wish to say that I bought a Microsoft Keyboard and it is working fine as expected. The previous one is
DAT keyboard and it has been said it is compatabile with Mac.
Im using Parallels for Running Windows8 VM in Mac and i have just moved to mac from MS Windows.

Hand tool using spacebar does not work to move an image

When using another tool on an image, I hit the spacebar to move around in the image but the Hand tool does not work.
I've renamed the folder 12.0 under %appdata%/roaming/adobe/Photoshop Elements and that works until I close Elements 12 and then reopen it.

Suggest that you delete preferences.
In Editor, expert tab, go to Edit>preferences>General. Look for this:
Reset, close PSE, launch again.

Yea, in my honest opinion the wireless on the HH3 is not the greatest at all, the channel switching for me causes problems which causes my external devices to lose connection for a few seconds at times.
Is there no way you could just try it? even for long a game or so just to rule out any possibilites? Also, since your at the other end of your house, that is also a problem even when your powerline adaptors.

Link from flash file/moving not working on a page

I will apologize first for what maybe a very elementary
questions. I was sent an swf file to add to a web page. I got the
movie to run on some of the pages where I inserted it into a
template and the template updated those pages. I think had to
insert it into another page and the movie does not work there. Does
this have something to do with the script in the script folder? A
conflict of some sort?
Also, I need to link the file a URL and putting <a
href> brackets around it is not working. Does the link to the
page have to embedded in the swf file?

wrapping an A HREF tag around a flash .swf object will not
work.
the link has to be "in" the swf, back when it was an FLA file
in flash.
Or- the .swf has to have actionscripting in it so that it
will take a url as
a parameter.

K/L frame-by-frame moving not working

Hi all. Normally I can move frame by frame through the timeline by holding K while pressing L or J. But now whenever I press L or J when holding K it plays at normal speed, as though I pressed L/J without holding K. Must have changed a setting somewhere but can't figure out where. Anyone know how to fix?

Yes, David, I'm having the same problem under the same circumstances. we're using merged clips made from Prores QTs and multitrk BWF files. In the trim window, the display frame jumps ahead considerably in a frame-by-frame trim, but trims accurately in the timeline. My only work-around has been to use the left/right scrub arrows in the trim window when necessary, which displays the correct frame. Sorry not to have an answer, but I saw a post on another forum from 2007 that speculated it was an FCP 6 bug. Resetting prefs doesn't help.

My MacBook Air keyboard has become raised and spacebar is not working!

My sons MacBook Air Keyboard has become raised/warped. The centre point of the raised area is the top left hand corner of the trackpad. I would say the highest point is 2 to 3mm above the normal surface line.
The first signs of the problem was an inconsistency in the spacebar operation. Now the spacebar fails to operate at all! Apart from the Spacebar the Air seems to perform all other functions normally.
The raised area /warped area has also created a wobble when the MacBook Air is on a flat surface.

If your Air came with Lion pre-installed you might find it a bit complicated to downgrade. In any event the battery should be replaced under warranty. [My 17" battery was replaced by Apple at the Genius Bar even though the year warranty had expired; they were genuinely concerned since there was a safety issue concerning power!] On the point about your 3 Lion concerns, I note that many on this forum have dealt with similar issues. In my case I purchased a new machine with Lion rather than upgrade my existing Snow Leopard MacBook Pro 13" or iMac 27" and have found there to be no troubles whatsoever. I enjoy the speedy response and smooth execution of tasks on 10.7.2. Good luck with your battery issue.

Photoshop CC: Hand Tool/Spacebar-shortcut not working

I can't use the hand tool or the space bar shortcut for said tool in Photoshop CC 2014. But It seems to work in illustrator though. I have already tried:
Closing my browser (Chrome)
Resetting my Photoshop preferences
Rebooting my computer

I do not seem to have any problem with that on my windows system. Space bar changes the current cursor to the hand icon and if the image zoom view is larger then the tab or floating window I can click and drag the contents around. And the press and hold H down changes to the hand icon and clicking give me the zoom hand scroll function. Does your Photoshop CC 2014 Cursor change to the hand Icon when you press the space bar

Preview program in Maverik - Spacebar not working to move image

was just forced by a program to upgrade to Maverik -- when i use PREVIEW to view images spacebar is not working in order to move the image around in the open window with the mouse to see other parts of edits etc? Bug? Just a box draws or what is the new command.. i cannot get to parts of images blow up to see what i need to see now other than opening in photoshop

Need suggestions about a Spacebar that does not work!

All of a sudden my spacebar does not work. WHen it does recognize I am spacing it repeats which tells me it getting stuck! Any suggestions as to a fix or who at Blackberry a person can call?

The first thing to try when your blackberry is acting up is a Battery Pull:
1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.
If your device is fairly new and still under warranty, check with your carrier for warranty service in case this is a hardware related issue. Most carriers provide support for blackberries and if they can't help, they will escalate the situation to RIM (the makers of blackberry phones) for no charge.Trying to get help directly from RIM is not possible without paying for the service because they provide assistance through your carrier.
See if the battery pull helps, if not we can try other things to try and solve your issue.

Using the spacebar for starting and stopping a clip does not work

The spacebar for starting and stopping the playing of a clip in the viewer of a sequence in the timeline has a live of its own. Without changing any setings, it sometimes works, but mostly not. Is there a seeting, I have not figured out yet? While in a session with Final Cut Express, it does not change its behavior. It starts with a working or not working spacebar. The same applies to the arrows to go back and for a frame, or back and for a clip. If the spacebar does not work, the arrows do not work either.

I am used working with Final Cut for some time now. And just got myself a new iMac and the program. So everything is quite new. I did not change any settings so far.
The first 2 days everything was fine.
Then, one day, the spacebar and the arrow key stopped working. Not in the middle of a session, but when I started the FCE new. Inbetween, it worked for some time. Now, the spacebar is gone again.
It's just the function of playing the clip that does not work. In whatever window (timeline, viewer). The function of the spacebar to make a space (for example in te name of clip or in a text file) works fine.
I would not mind the spacebar that much, but I miss the arrow keys to go from frame to frame, or from clip. It's strange.

Spacebar Shortcut: Hand Tool Showing But Not Working

Runing the CS6 trial on a Windows 7 Laptop (x64). I was in Photoshop (64), and noticed that when I held down the spacebar to pan the open image, the hand icon would show but the tool will not work. No matter how many times I click and drag, the image stays still. If I select the MANUALLY select the hand tool it works, but the spacebar shortcut key is non-functional. This issue persists across both the 32 & 64 bit versions of Photoshop.
Ideas? Help?

Hello: I am using Photoshop CS6 and the spacebar will not function for me either.
I am creating a circle, duplicate the layer, then i select the subtract front shape ... after this i need to be able to use the spacebar to center my subtracting circle so thatt i end up w/a nice border.
I closed firefox but that didn't work and so then I restarted my computer w/out opening FF at all and still the spacebar will not work.
Rather than the hand icon appearing the only thing that changes is that the small black box that shows the height and width adds the x & y demensions.
Does anyone know if i need to turn something on or off in order to enable the spacebar?

Gt-60 space bar not working

I have had a gt60 for almost 2 years now, so it is definitely not under warranty anymore. And recently, an issue came up. When I login to windows 7, right when the login screen appears, the spacebar is continually entering, like it is being held down. I press any key and it stops. From that moment on, the space bar does not work. Then if I press "zx", the spacebar acts as if it has been held down again. it is very strange. I tried the keyboard under Linux, and the spacebar does not work. I think its a hardware issue, but I am not sure. Any advice, or anyone experience a similar problem?

Yes i have a similar problem but it is my tab key.
It started a few months ago and went away and recently made an unfortunate return yesterday.
My problem is that when my laptop is turned on the tab key is always "pressed", however when i used to press it it would stop and start again in a few seconds.
This time around after i press it, it instantly goes back to the always pressed state.
(I should also mention i think pressing caps lock also stops it briefly (<1 second) and it starts again.)
However, after about 5 to 10 minutes of trying to use my laptop the problem goes away and i can use the tab key as normal.
(By trying to use i mean using it while pressing tab to get it to stop for 1 second to click or do something.)
Did you solve your problem? Let me know please!
Or i might have to disable the laptop keyboard and buy an external one :(.

I have just got a Laptop with windows 8, and put my Photoshop CS5 on, so far eveything works appart from the space bar hand tool, which I use a lot.

I was also having this problem but I have found the soloution! It took me a very long time to figure it out but I finally have. I also have windows 8 and I have updated to windows 8.1 . As soon as I did that update I had to "re-install" my touchpad synaptics driver... I thought little of this. It just hit me aobut a week ago why the spacebar hand tool shortcut wasn't working. I have a Acer laptop, 64Bit, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, and running Windows 8.1.
So, the that the spacebar is not working IS because the driver that is installed for your touchpad or trakpad is disabling some features for use of the spacebar and your finger movemnet on the trackpad at the same time. Sadly, there is no way to fix this problem YET. But, if you use a mouse or a graphics tablet you will be able to get this feature back!
I hope you understand the problem now. The only way to ix this is by notifying Synaptics about this issue and the next updated driver will have this issue fixed!

Form button does not work when a program is moved from Windows 8.2 to Windows 7

Hi,
I have a few Excel programs which use the ODBC to get data from Access and which have macros which writes data to an external program, MYOB.
When the macros tries to write the data to MYOB it fails if I am not running the program in administrator mode.   It seems that Windows 8.2 has a different level of security than Windows 7 and must be run in administrator mode for the ODBC to work.
I have had issues after running the program in administrator mode (testing) if I simply do a save (in administrator mode) and then send it to the customer.   The issue is that it just will not work on the customer's site.   I have gotten
around this in the past by saving any changes, going back out of excel, loading the program again (not in administrator mode) and saving it - before sending it to the customer.   This worked until now.
For some unknown reason, the last time I sent a program to the customer and carried out the above process, the program stopped working. Originally I thought that the macro just wouldn't work on windows 7, but eventually found that it is the form button
that will no longer work when the program is moved from 8.2 to 7.
Does anyone know why there is an incompatibility between 8.2 and Windows 7 and what I should be doing to ensure that my programs work in my customers environment(windows7)?
In the meanwhile, I have changed the form button to an activex button and the program works fine in both environments.

there is some OP report after Windows update Dec 2014 macro stop responding ( I cant confirm if this is also related to your issue) its because security update for Office maybe conflict with the active-x that you are installed
try to
Close Excel
Start Windows Explorer.
Select your system drive (usually C:)
Use the Search box to search for *.exd
Delete all the files it finds.
Start Excel again
Open that file and save it, and try open at Windows 7

I've moved my Aperture library to another computer, and masters are referencing an old path name. How can I update these references? Reloctating masters does not work in this case :(

I've moved my Aperture library from one computer to another using Finder.
I merged the library with one which was already on the computer.
Now, the photos I imported have reference to the old path name on my old computer.
How can I update these references as "Relocate Masters" does not work in this case?

Just one suggestion to be able to reconnect all at once:
Create a smart album containing the images with missing masters:
File -> New -> Smart Album, and add a rule: File Status is "Missing" (or File Status is "offline")
Then select the images in this album and go to the File menu:
and select: File -> Locate referenced File
If you are lucky, Aperture will reconnect all at once, if you point the first image version to its counterpart.
