Spaces: create new window makes same Space slide in

I"m just starting to try to use Spaces, after seeing the clear benefit to it.
I have Space 1 set up with a couple of finder windows to make moving things around easy and in Space 2, I also want Finder windows, but when I hit CMD-N to create one, I'm sent back to Space 1 and a new window is created there!
Also, if I create a new folder on the desktop in Space 2, then open it, I am also taken back to Space 1 where that folder opens.
this tells me that I'm not going to get what I need, or that I just don't yet fully understand Spaces.. can somebody shine a light on this for me?
is it that Finder is either assigned only to that first Space, or to All?
My goal is to have Spaces where both Applications and Finder windows reside.
thank you!

I think you want the Finder assigned to all Spaces so new finder windows will open in the current Space you are in. To assign the Finder to all Spaces, it is not quite as straight forward as assigning other apps to all Spaces.
Do this to assign the Finder to all Spaces:
1. Go to the Spaces tab in System Preferences;
2. Click the plus ( + ) to add an app and select Other;
3. Navigate to the folder Macintosh HD» System» Library» Core Services» Finder.app
and click the Add button.
Back in the Spaces prefpane, select Every Space next to the Finder.app under the Space column.
If it doesn't work how you wanted, delete it from the Spaces assignment by clicking the minus ( - ) button.

  • How to make dock appear in all monitors, and keep new windows to same monit

    I've got an unusual setup: two screens at my desk, and another one in front of a recliner nearby so that it is not physically adjacent to the other two. This means that when the cursor moves off the side of two of the monitors and goes to the third one, I can't see it. I don't want to mirror all the displays because half the time I use the two adjacent ones from the desk, and sometimes I just want to use the one separate one. Can someone tell me if it's possible to
    1) make the same dock appear in all monitors? I want access to the dock no matter which monitor I'm looking at. Is there a utility or hack that will give me a dock in each screen?
    2) any way to have apps open and create new windows in whatever monitor I'm currently working? it's very annoying that sometimes I run a app and it throws up a window in the monitor I'm not looking at. Any way to keep it to the set of two or to the 3rd one, depending on which I'm using at the time?
    thank you!

    Hi Mike, Might have a look at the bottom of this page for Dock-It 2.6.1 for Mac OS X 10.5.x and earlier...

    As far as the other problems, I'd try Mirroring #1 & #3.

    why would you steal your music id password? ..nokia id / account is different from windows live id btw.
    maybe you already have a windows live account, thats why its showing the that problem. check settings > email+accounts > you should ideally have only one(1) 'microsoft account' in there. if you want to use another one, you might want to just 'change' the existing one with your new credentials.

    Startup disc is Macintosh HD. If your HD is getting near full capacity you'll need to offload some files to an external drive or drives.

    3.  Click on Page windows it will gives a screen where that window you want to place in that page.    Click on Edit option on menu bar Edit-->Create Element
    it will gives a list of windows which your created in a page   here you have to select which window you want to place.  Double click on that window it will adds on the page and give the bottom of the screen you can find  standard attributes block
    there you have to give the position of the window in a page.
    or
    Click on setting option on menu bar  settings-->form painter

    then you can see the layout.

  • My pinned tab for Firfox 4, for Window 7 keeps creating new windows. When it never used to. Why is it making another window when I already have a tab at the bottom?

    My pinned tab for Firefox 4, for Window 7 keeps creating new windows when I click it. When it never used to. Why is it making another window when I already have a tab at the bottom?

    Hmmm, mine stack up over the pinned icon as you would expect (Win7Pro x64). Is there anything special about the way you're starting up Firefox? Security sandbox? Using any command-line switches?

  • In the last several versions of Firefox Pop-up Site that should be blocked are creating new windows. Why?

    I have several computers. On each computer Firefox operates different. On the system I am writing these words. Every time I open a link Foxfire opens a new set of windows instead of a new tab. On my laptop Firefox opens a new tab when I want to open a new link. I think that this the way it should be. I have looked in the options to try and fix this but there is NO option to correct this. Both the computer are running the same version of Firefox. On the system I am writing this when new window pops up it creates two windows, one with a web page and one with tiles. I am running Windows 7 on all my systems not Windows 8. The laptop does not do this. If a unwanted page pops up; say a Web Cam site or Dating site that Pop-up Blocker use to block appears there is a race to close it because Firefox switches back to the page you were on before the new windows appeared. The Firefox on this system I am writing on also does not allow scrolling when something is being highlighted anymore.
    I use Firefox because it allows me the configure it to use Applications on my computer to open, view, and save material from the Internet unlike the other browser that are available. Can someone fix these bugs?

    It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
    Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is
    there for. Also,
    check the programs that are on your computer
    '''''Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.'''''
    Go thru the list and use a web search to check any that you don't
    know what they are.<BR><BR>

  • New window with same document

    I'm considering switching from Excel to Numbers, and looking at the functions I use the most.
    In Excel I often have 2 windows open with the same document (one with my income, and one with my expenses for instance). Are you able to open a new window of the same document in Numbers?

    I agree, but this thread was/is about opening multiple windows onto a single document. I contend that, where using multi-window viewing makes sense, so might a less monolithic arrangement of several tables, perhaps across a couple of sheets.
    There are at least two reasons for a large table in Numbers:
    (1) The table is designed with an Excel mindset (or imported from Excel) where there isn't this particular degree of freedom of many separate tables. When I see questions about multi-window or split screen viewing, often at the heart of the matter is Excel mindset. In Excel it is common to create separate "zones" within a larger spreadsheet. This practice can create spreadsheets covering vast numbers of cells. In Numbers, these zones would better occupy separate tables, and not just because of the visibility issue. Separate tables resize more naturally, a problem in Excel when resizing one zone disrupts another.
    (2) The table contains a lot of data of the same form (sharing the same headers). I think Numbers could use some work in handling this case. At minimum, while a table is active, the table headers and footers could be "pinned" to the window while scrolling as the column labels: A,B,C,.. and row labels 1,2,3,... are currently.

  • Spaces confusing safari windows (on multiple spaces using command-tab)

    Wondering if this is happening to anyone else.
    I love spaces but something is messed when using safari windows on multiple spaces. Say I have two safari windows open on two different spaces, after command-tabbing to another app when I try to command-tab back to safari it doesn't always go to my last safari window. That is to say that sometimes it goes to the other safari window, and sometimes it doesn't. It's super unpredictable.
    Give it a try, open two safari windows on two different spaces and the command tab to another app and then command tab back to safari - and repeat... you'll find that it will just randomly go to the other window, and then back etc.
    Can't think of anything more annoying in spaces... that's got to be a bug.
    Anyways, let me know if it's happening to you.
    Jay.

    same issue. i have multiple safari windows with multiple tabs on multiple spaces. let's say one space is a rails space; so it has some terminals, safaris, firefoxes, all perhaps with 2 or more tabs. command-tab does not necessarily go back to the window of the app i was just in. whether it's safari or firefox or whatever. this is horribly un-intuitive. come on apple. that's like your thing, right?

  • Create new window in script

    Hi SDN,
    Can I raise one dought related to my requirement? In script PO headings is now displaying in main window and related items displayed in B2 window, but user wants to display it in B2 window with creation of new window. So I need to create one new window in the existing window B2, is it possible? If yes please furnish details. Any changes will require in print program? Expecting the suggestions ASAP. More appreciate for your valuable suggestions and thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ravi.

    hi
    In the B2 window,
    use the following code and make it a meaningful code as per ur requirement:
    if u want to create a new window on different page, then use the
    /: NEW-PAGE pageno
    /: NEW-WINDOW newwindowname
    Here use the code for heading etc.
    I think no changes to the print program is required.
    regards,
    shamim.

  • Creating new user having same access as that of SYSTEM user in Express Edit

    Hi, is it possible in oracle to create a new user having same access as that of SYSTEM user?
    If yes what would be syntax?
    If not i would like to create a user having most of admin rights likes exporting and importing schemas and all.
    How it can be done?
    Any help would be appreciated.. :)
    I am using Express Edition 11g.

    same access as that of SYSTEM usergrant dba to <username>;
    Its not exactly system equivalent, sys does grant a few rights directly to system database user but its pretty darn close.
    exporting and importing schemasgrant datapump_exp_full_database to <username>;
    grant datapump_imp_full_database to <username>;

  • Triggering new window in same page

    Hi,
    can Any one tell me how to trigger a new window in the same page..... I mean how to display the data in news paper format
    ie; when the data is completed in 1st column it should continue in the 2nd column of the same page.........

    well,
    The businees requirement is .... the data should be displayed in newspaper format (column wise). ie; the windows are side by side in a page .... after finishing to print the data in 1st window it should continue in second(side) window of the same page rather than proceeding to a new page window.... I think this expalins my requirement...
