Spaces: howto disable Switch by dragging

Hi folks,
this is driving me nuts: using spaces, I can drag a window the a screen border, wait a while and Spaces switches to another space. However, using an application where I need to do other drag operations (Logic Pro in my case), causes spaces to switch when I drag something within the application and reach the screen border.
This behavior is absolutely annoying. I regularly need to grab a Region in the time line, drag far left or right to cause Logic to start scrolling. Now, Spaces will switch and I´m off my application.
So my question is: Is there a hack or option to disable the Spaces "Screen Border move" feature?

You can set the delay to something high which effectively stops it.defaults write com.apple.dock workspaces-edge-delay 15
killall DockThe delay setting is in seconds. You have to restart the Dock after changing it, which is what the killall command does.
I tried various things like 0 and -1 to stop it, but that didn't work. I set it to 15 seconds and waited and never had it switch.

    HOWTO disable C#/MVC/CSHTML auto-formatting with VS2013.
    Please help,
    I have VS2013 with Update 2.
Attempts to disable automatic formatting is not working, even in safe mode.
If I get the following unacceptable auto-formatting when editing inside a CSHTML file (.cshtml) on the server-side C# code:
    1)  double d = MyFun("1", "2", "3");    ==> double d = MyFun("1","2","3");   <== Spaces after commas removed.
    2) if (d == 4)    ==> if(d == 4)    <== Space after "if" removed.
==> { }     <== Brackets added on the following line.
I have tried removing them in the C# editor option in VS2013/Safe-Mode, and they won't go away.
How can I get this behavior to stop?
I have gotten a ".cs" module to behave properly, but not ".cshtml".

    Hi J-S-B,
What have you done to disable automatic formatting? Some options below?
Please share what have you done to prevent this issue.

  • Disable Switch To Tab Function when clicking a link

When i click some links particularly in gmail, for instance if i get an email from youtube about a video being uploaded and i click said video, firefox opens this link in a new tab but the problem is that it automaticly switches to that tab which i hate. this happens with other links that want to open in a new tab to.
Switch to tab no more or switch to tab blacklist does not work. i did have a fix for it within the about:config page but i recently refreshed firefox and it removed the function. preferably i dont want to use an extension to solve this

You can remove the checkmark on "Open Tabs" in the location bar settings.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest:<br />[] Open tabs
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Privacy+panel
Note that you can hold down the Alt or Shift key while an entry in the drop down list is highlighted to disable "Switch to tab" and see the URL of all entries instead.
    * Alt + Enter opens the highlighted URL in a new tab.
    * Shift + Enter opens the highlighted URL in the current tab.
    * Cursor Right copies the highlighted URL to the location bar in case you want to edit it.

  • "always on top" in fullscreen mode; disable switching away

    Hi,
I am trying to write a mode for emacs that will keep out as many distractions as possible.  When activated, I can't switch away from the file I'm working on.
Unfortunately, I can *easily* switch away from my fullscreen Emacs to my webbrowser or email program, and Gnome notifications appear on my screen on top of the Emacs window.
Is there a way for me to push a fullscreen Emacs window (what Emacs users call a frame) to the top of the windowing stack and DISABLE SWITCHING AWAY FROM IT, while also stopping other windows from poppint above it in the stack?  I'm using Gnome right now, so something gnome-specific would be great, as would any generic solution for X.  There is an "always on top" option for windows in gnome (I am using the default window manager, whatever it is now -- metacity?  compiz? I don't even know anymore!), but it is disabled for fullscreen windows.  that makes sense, normally, but I would like to suspend some of the computer's functionality when I'm writing.
Also:  perhaps this deserves its own thread, but it would be nice if notification windows didn't overlay themselves on top of the window that I make this way.
    Thank you!
    Matt

    Hi,
You say you're using gnome so the default window manager for that would be mutter. The gnome notifications can be turned off from
    gnome-control-center
I don't know if that's an acceptable solution for you. As for disabling switching to other windows, I've had look in
    dconf-editor
org --> gnome --> desktop --> wm --> preferences but I don't think I can much that's relevant there. Would disabling raise-on-click deliver the desired behaviour? Otherwise, you could try seeing whether there is an extension at https://extensions.gnome.org/.
Hope you find what you're looking for

  • [Solved] How to disable switching workspaces in XFCE when scrolling?

As the title says, I want to disable switching workspaces when scrolling with the mouse on the desktop. I disabled the workspace switcher setting "Change workspaces using the mousewheel" but that doesn't change anything. Any ideas?

  • AI CC 2014 Scrubby Zoom. . .any way to disable / switch back to the old drag a rectangle and zoom into it method?  Thanks

I really would like to know if there is a switch similar to the one in PS that I can toggle to revert it back to the way AICC 2013 and earlier versions handled the zoom.  Thanks a ton

Yes, I found it. As you said, It's part of the Windows Version of AICC 2014 with GPU acceleration. . .if it's bugging anyone else, the switch can be found under PREFERENCES> EXPERIMENTAL FEATURE> ENABLE ANIMATED ZOOM.  Just uncheck that and everything goes back to normal.
Thanks to Monika for pointing me in the right direction.

  • Why can't I open a new tab for the same website? Want to disable 'switch to tab'.

I used to be able to open multiple tabs for the same website on Firefox 3.xx. I could download files from one tab and work from another. How can I disable the 'switch to tab' function?

You can disable it by using the Switch to Tab no more add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/switch-to-tab-no-more

  • Spaces won't switch spaces more than 1 time

Since I switched to Leopard, when switching between spaces, I can move in any direction one time using the hotkeys (I have it set to move with Apple Key + Arrow Key). With 10.5 I could move around all I wanted while holding down the Apple Key and pressing any arrow key. Now I can only do that on the first press of the arrow, and then it won't move until I let go of the Apple Key and press the combo again, making it so I can only switch between one space at a time (unless I'm going to the left, for some reason it allows me to move in that direction all I want). Given the fact that I've never had this problem before until I just installed Snow Leopard, I would have to conclude it was caused by Snow Leopard. Any suggestions?

I guess I didn't think when it happened, because this should've been the first thing I tried, which was to change the hotkeys, and then change them back. It works just fine now. I dunno why it messed up in the first place, but the fix was basically common sense. Thanks for telling me that yours worked with all different combos, because it's what knocked my brain into realizing that I should have tried that. :-D

  • How to disable Switch Profile and Auxilliary Metadata set on UCM checkin screen?

We are using webcenter content 11.1.1.6 with Record Management component installed on top of it
While trying to checkin a new document from a normal checkin screen or from Manage attachments screen two options come at the top 'Switch Profile and Auxilliary Metadata set'
How can these options be disabled?

    Hi,
The xExternalDataSet is already an empty string on the check in page
When i append &IsJava=1, the variables have these values
    xExternalDataSet=
    xExternalDataSet:isInfoOnly=1
    xExternalDataSet:isSetDefault=1
Isn't there a config variable for this, as I see this component has come as part of record management but no option to disable when I configure record management
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

  • Spaces and Application Switcher

My current workflow includes heavy usage of Expose, Spaces, and iOS's Application Switcher. I've installed a number of "helpful" apps in the last couple of days, and the behavior of the application switcher has strangely (and very frustratingly) changed. Now, whenever I command-tab to switch to another application, the application becomes active (evidenced by the application toolbar showing at the top of the screen), but the computer will no longer switch to the Space that has the active window for that application. The same behavior is exhibited when I click on an application icon on the dock - one click will make the application active, but a second click is required to actually switch to the Space with the active application window.
I suspected that my recent installation of Keyboard Maestro was the culprit (since it apparently uses its own "Program Switcher" tool that has similar functionality), but I've uninstalled KM and the same problems still persist. I just need to figure out how to restore the original functionality of the application switcher, where it plays nicely with Spaces.
    Thanks!

Turns out the solution is a simple little checkbox in the Expose & Spaces preference pane (under system preferences). Under the Spaces tab, there is a little checkbox at the very bottom that says "When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for the application." Silly that that little inconspicuous checkbox caused me so much grief over the last month... But there it is.
Do I get credit for answering my own question?

  • Disable snapping while dragging

i just want to know how to disable the snap while dragging the clips in the time line so i can match the exact lip sync of my video into my music.. in snapping its hard to match it.. Thank you..

AE will quantize to discrete frames and how precisely it does depends on your framerate settings for the comp and the footage interpretation. It's simply inherent in how video works - you couldn't go inbetween two frames, since no data exists there and was never recorded in teh first place. If you are having difficulties, adjust your settings. The only otehr way eould be to use time-remapping/ timewarping, but still, it will never be 100% sample exact. It's just impossible.

  • Howto disable the firewall in AEBS Airport Extreme Base Station

Is there any way to do that?
Motivation: I don't want to reroute ports to a DHCP address which changes constantly. Plus: Editing the port reroute list is a pain!
I have no problems with my Asus WL500gP but this thing just doesn't get printing right while all the other funktions work flawlessly.
AEBS plus: Canon ip3000 works perfect over WLAN
AEBS minus: All services relying on ports being redirected are blocked
I have a firewall in my mac which I can switch on and allow services to whatever I want, for the Airport Extreme Base Station, this simply does not work. If I donwload a new Ubuntu torrent with the Asus it's yipiiee, with the AEBS it's 0KB/s. Great.

The only way to disable the "firewall" is to configure the AEBS to act as a bridge. In that mode it is not providing local IP addresses for local machines.
Motivation: I don't want to reroute ports to a DHCP address which changes constantly. Plus: Editing the port reroute list is a pain!
You can configure the AEBS to use DHCP. You can give one of your computers a static IP address outside the range used by the AEBS's DHCP server. Then you can configure the AEBS to recognize that computer as default host (thing DMZ) or you can forward selected ports only to that computer. Once configured you won't need to change anything since that computer is at a static IP address.
