Spaces In Property Names

It is a known restriction that DIAdem, and DataFinder coerce spaces to underscores when searching for property names on TDMS files.  The Excel Add-in does something similar.
But the TDMS file structure and API apparently supports reading and writing properties with spaces in them.  So my question is why does DIAdem and DataFinder not support spaces in the name of properties?  This limitation must exist for a reason since if it were a simple fix it probably would have been taken care of years ago, so I'm not asking for this functionality to change just curious.

If 10 out of 10 experts in any field say something is bad, you should probably take their opinion seriously.

Hi Brad,
Resurrecting this - it's only a month old, but it's still mild thread necrophilia nonetheless - is there anything in the settings to disable this behaviour if indexing is not of interest to me?
I ask as I've stumbled onto this feature when trying to tweak a saved NaN value in a LV-generated TDMS before uploading it to an SQL database. On saving, I found the behaviour that Hooovahh describes, plus a few additional properties added. Next time I come across this, having been duly burned this first time out, I'll just do it via LV!

  • Handling property name with spaces in SQL query

    Hello,
    I have some JSON that looks like this:
        "SystemId": "112234",
        "Parameter": {
            "Total Hours": [
                    "timestamp": "2015-03-15T15:20:00Z",
                    "itemValue": "0"
                    "timestamp": "2015-03-15T15:15:00Z",
                    "itemValue": "296"
    ..and am having trouble with the space in the "Total Hours" property name.  When executing a SQL query, I have tried to reference it as ["Total Hours"], [Total Hours], and "Total Hours", but none of these works.  I
    have also reviewed the "Querying DocumentDB" and "DocumentDB SQL Query Language" documents, but am unclear on how to escape this space.  As this is valid JSON, I would expect to be able to handle it via DocumentDB SQL query, but am
    not certain what I am missing.
    Thanks for your help.
    Please remember to mark replies as answers if they help you.

    Given that the property with the name with the space contains an array, I attempted to query using:
     SELECT * FROM c WHERE c.Parameter.c["Total Hours"][0].timestamp = "2015-03-15T15:15:00Z" and a few other permutations, but no luck.  Did I misunderstand?

  • Troubleshooting "Invalid property name" during EPMA Dimension import

    I am trying to import a dimension via EPMA and receiving the error below. I have a couple of questions:
    How can that property exist in the first place if it's invalid?
    How can I find that property and where it's referenced?
    Thanks in advance!
    -Ben
    Invalid property name:  'CustomTopMemberAsset Class'.  Property names must start with a letter or underscore, and can contain only letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens.

    Well, that gets to the root of my issue.  I cannot find that property anywhere to change it, nor can I figure out how it got saved in the first place with a space in it.

  • Spaces in property values result in values bein enclosed in quotes (Linux)

    G'day,
    I couldn't find this mentioned in the bugs database (or anywhere else) so it might be a new bug.
    If a property value in a JNLP descriptor contains spaces then the resulting property value returned by System.getProperty() is enclosed in quotes, e.g.
    <property name="jnlp.blah" value="foo bar"/>
    results in System.getProperty("jnlp.blah") returning the value +{color:#ff0000}"{color}foo bar{color:#ff0000}"{color}+ instead of the expected foo bar (without quotes).
    In the Java console I see the following:
    jnlpx.vmargs = {color:#ff0000}"{color}-Xmx512m -Xms256m ... -Djnlp.blah={color:#ff0000}\"{color}foo bar{color:#ff0000}\"{color} ... {color:#ff0000}"{color}
    This only affects Linux (tested with JRE 6.0_20 on Ubuntu 10.04). The same JNLP launched with Java Web-Start on Windows (JREs 6.0_12 & 6.0_21 on Vista) produces the following:
    jnlpx.vmargs = -Xmx512m -Xms256m ... {color:#ff0000}"{color}-Djnlp.blah=foo bar{color:#ff0000}"{color} ...
    So, the problem stems from the way property values with spaces are handled by the Linux implementation of the JRE.
    Has anyone else come across this behaviour?
    Regards,
    Chris.

    G'day,
    AndrewThompson64 wrote:
    If there is one, the best thing to do is raise a bug report, but first you'll need a test case.
    Something with source, JNLP and build file provided. In fact, if you can produce that in a Zip archive available on the net, I can download it and run it both Win 7 & Ubuntu for a further test. Good call - narrowing down a test-case helped me pin down the problem.1. Download the test-case here.
    2. Unzip to /tmp:
    cd /tmp
    unzip JnlpPropertyWithSpacesBug.zip
    3. Test 1:
    javaws file:///tmp/JnlpPropertyWithSpacesBug/test.jnlp
    This should result in the message: System.getProperty("jnlp.my.property") returns null
    This is the correct result.
    4. Test 2:
    javaws /tmp/custom.jnlp
    On Linux, this should result in the message: +System.getProperty("jnlp.my.property") returns {color:#ff0000}"{color}should not be enclosed in double-quotes{color:#ff0000}"{color}+
    This result is incorrect (shouldn't have double quotes).
    Note that custom.jnlp is a customized version of JnlpPropertyWithSpacesBug/test.jnlp:
    1. attributes have been added to the java tag
    2. a property tag has been added for a secure property: sun.java2d.noddraw
    3. a property tag has been added for a jnlp property: jnlp.my.property
    All three are needed to produce the bug. It only occurs on when the Linux JRE is used (6.0_20; Ubuntu 10.04).
    This simulates the situation in which a custom JNLP descriptor is dynamically generated, e.g. to invoke the application with custom system properties.
    There will be extra chance of test results if you can provide a link directly to the JNLP file on the net. The test case would need to be small and sand-boxed, of course.Any suggestions as to where you can freely host Java Web-Start applications?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

  • How to get all property names and values of an bean instance at runtime?

    How can I get all property names and values of an bean instance at runtime?
    (The class of the bean instance is dynamic and I can not know before I write the code .)

    Look at Class. It has a way to get at all public methods and attributes.
    If you need to get to private attributes you can do what the Introspector does and expect the methods to follow the Bean pattern and pull the attributes out based upon that. Privates are all hidden from direct access but through the Bean Pattern they can be figured out.

  • Mplayer can't play files with spaces in their name

    After scratching my head and reinstalling codecs several times without luck, and old memory resurfaced of this occuring before and I managed to solve the problem.
    The thing is that if you doubleclick a file in Nautilus, and said files has spaces in its name, mplayer won't be able to play it, and gives a very cryptic error message, ie "cannot play file a%20b.avi" if the name of the file is "a b.avi".
    The trick is mentioned in this thread -- you edit /usr/share/applications/mplayer.desktop and change 'Exec=gmplayer %U' to 'Exec=gmplayer %F'.
    The bug has been around forever, and hasn't been fixed yet. Perhaps the mplayer devs don't want to fix it. In any case, I would propose that either we fix this in the mplayer Arch package, or that someone more knowledgeable than I get in touch with the devs about it.
    Just a suggestion, but I think it's kind of important. It's really confusing to new users.

    In my opinion, it it's not arch's job to fix bugs from upstream, no matter if it's mplayer or gnome's fault. Of course there are exceptions, eg if a bug in a critical package hardlocks the whole system, or adds a huge security risk.
    I would like to belive that the general arch user is smart enough to find one of the 30 threads about this bug (or the entry on the bugtracker) and fix it themselves. Personaly I would put this in the same category as packages that don't have a .desktop file at all from upstream.

    Use a lower case initial on a bean property name.
    Instead of:
    <jsp:getProperty name="courseBean" property="Name" />try:
    <jsp:getProperty name="courseBean" property="name" />The same will apply to other properties. Also, make sure you use the lower case initial on form field names. e.g. <input type="text" name ="name"> for use in <jsp:setProperty name="courseBean" property="*" />

  • Unknown variable or property name 'ReportFilePath'. Error accessing item 'Runstate.Root.Locals.ReportFilePath'. in TestStand

    Hi all.
    I was using Teststand 4.2 up to last week and upgraded to TS 2013. In 4.2 I was using the following to get the location of the teststand report:
    Runstate.Root.Locals.ReportFilePath
    but with TS 2013 this no longer works.. is the following error:

    I've tried the following now with no success:

    Shashidhar,
    Thanks for your help! With your tips, I finally got it to work. For anyone else trying to modify report names based on user input after the sequential process model sets the file name path I will re tell what I did:
    Edit the Ni_RerportGenerator.seq plugin found in C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\TestStand 2014\Components\Models\ModelPlugins\
    You go into this file and add the step higlighted in Blue at that same location. Please see the expression I typed in the expression box. Setting Parameters.ReportOptions.NewFileNameForEachUUTStatus to true forces re-evaluation of the report name at the end of the sequentialmodel.seq.
    Then you add a FileGlobal in the sequenatialmodel.seq. I called my FileGlobal ReportFileName
    Then I added an expression in my test sequence that modified the the new FileGlobal I created:
    Finally I updated the report options (Go to Cofigure>Report Options > Report File Pathname and under File/Directory Options select "Specify Report File Path by Expression" and I entered my expression. It appears that you can disregard the evaluated report file path error (box below) because your pathname won't be generated until run-time.
    This worked well for me hopefully it will for others.
    Thanks,
    Marco

  • IWeb and uploading jpegs with spaces in their names

    I have created a site with about 100 jpegs that I wish to load up to a server other than ".Mac". Some jpegs have spaces in their names, so "Fetch" will not upload them. I deleted the spaces from their names and loaded the jpegs back into the site and saved and published to a folder. However, the resulting "Site"folder shows the jpegs still have spaces in their names, even though I removed them from the name of the jpeg. IWeb must be getting the name from some internal tag or something. For example, I had a jpeg called "Billie Holiday.jpg" I changed the name to "BillieH.jpg", but when I publish the site to a folder, the jpeg still shows up as "Billie Holiday.jpg" and therefore I cant upload it using "Fetch". Where is iWeb getting the names of the jpegs from, and how do I remove the spaces? Or, does anybody know of an application that can upload files (ftp) with spaces in their names?
    Thanks,
    Mitch

    However, the resulting
    "Site"folder shows the jpegs still have spaces in
    their names, even though I removed them from the name
    of the jpeg.
    Very strange. You might try renaming the site with Inspector to something else than Site and republishing, to guarantee you have a totally new set of files.
    Or, does
    anybody know of an application that can upload files
    (ftp) with spaces in their names?
    It's not the ftp program. You can't have spaces in file names on most web servers, they won't accept the files.

  • Quicktime 10 "Save For Web", spaces in file names?

    Maybe I'm overlooking something here, but:
    When using Quicktime 10's "Save for Web" function, it exports movie source files that all have spaces in the filenames (i.e. "Movie - iPhone.m4v" etc)
    Now correct me if I'm wrong, but most web servers DO NOT like having spaces in the filenames, and every time I try to upload them to one of our web servers, I'm getting an error message that says it doesn't like the file.
    Simply removing the spaces from the filenames causes the Quicktime reference movie to stop working, as you might expect.
    Am I missing something here? How would someone possibly get this to work?

    Thanks for the reply - actually it was helpful, and was the final nail in the coffin for Yahoo Webhosting for us. We've been using it for years, and even though it ***** terribly (and I mean TERRIBLY, horribly, painfully), we've stuck with it just because it's been easier to use it than to not switch. But you're exactly right... I tried uploading files to Cachefly with spaces in the name, and bingo, works perfectly.
    Thanks.

  • Space appearing in name of just one font family member

    Hi, I have a problem with InDesign CS4 adding a space in the name of just one particular style of a font family.
    This is happening with a company's custom-produced corporate typeface. It has a Font Suitcase file (named "XY Com") and four corresponding Type-1 PostScript files (named "XYCom", "XYComBol", "XYComIta" and "XYComBolIta") for the Regular, Bold, Italic and BoldItalic styles.
    For the Regular version, InDesign CS4 lists the name as "XY Com", but for other styles it lists the family as "XYCom" (i.e. without a space in the name).
    So as well as the family is not getting grouped properly in the various menus, ID also gives an error message about the 'missing' font when opening files created in ID2.0 which use the correct (?) name.
    The problem just seems to be happening in ID CS4 (and IIRC in ID CS3, which I had installed briefly). In InDesign 2.0, the font family shows up correctly grouped, as likewise in Font Book, Linotype FontExplorer X, the standard OS X font selection dialog, etc.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Stewart.
    ID CS4 v6.0, OS X v10.5.5.

    Eric, thanks for the suggestions. I have tried deleting those files and clearing the font caches but the problem persists.
    I have noticed that a different font with a Suitcase/PostScript file combination does not have the problem - but this font is different in that it has a Suitcase file for each PostScript font file, rather than one Suitcase file for several PostScript font file.
    So, it looks like when there is a font family with a Suitcase file referencing multiple PostScript files, InDesign is using the long font name for one style (always the Normal/Regular style?) and the short font name for the others.
    I wonder whether this is just happening on my own system or whether it is a general problem. Does anybody want to check?
    Some example fonts that exhibit the problem are the Image Club Graphics fonts on the Adobe Action Pack Graphics CD that came with PageMaker a few years ago, if anybody has that lying around.
    Cheers,
    Stewhttp://www.adobeforums.com/Images/m/pstmsg.gifart.

  • No space between phonetic name and department

    Has anyone experienced a problem on iPhone running iOS7 when using contacts. I recently added information to one of my contacts: department, phonetic name, company, etc. When I was done, I pushed "Done" and it showed me info without space between phonetic name and department. Words were written together. How can I contact apple to tell them to fix that issue?

    Hi there
    I may be wrong in my understanding with this. My own understanding is that when you have expanding text, the space between the expanded text and the next text was removed. For example:
    Here is a sentence with expanding text to click on.
    And if the user clicked the expanding text, the expansion occurred, but removed the space between the expanded text and the next word. So it looked like this:
    Here is a sentence with expanding textexpanded text contentto click on.
    So my understanding was that the update would correct things so that they looked like this:
    Here is a sentence with expanding textexpanded text content to click on. (Note the space between "content" and "to".)
    What you seem to be describing is that the text looks like this when you expand it:
    Here is a sentence with expanding textexpanded text content to click on.
    But you would prefer it look like this instead:
