Spaces in searches

When I am searching for an image that has a space in the name like "1234.2.CR2" in the case of the way Apple now handles duplicate file names I don't get a result for just "1234.2.CR2", I get all images with either "1234" or "2.CR2". This seems like a bug or at least something that needs addressing with another option in the Contains drop down like Exactly. RIght now I am having a hard time trying to find these images so I can rename them to non-spaced file names and it's taking forever.

Instead of Contains, use Contains All -- this will match filenames that contain all of the space-separated "words" in the search box.
It does seem like a big design oversight that there is no way to match strings exactly (especially with keywords). In the feedback forum, there are a couple of topics discussing this.

I have been playing around with user information lately as well and user information is not completely stored within a Spaces but through Oracle Identity Store. It will depend on you specific environment configuration but youcould query against your LDAP.

I have Mac 10.6 and Firefox 3.6.3, how do I stretch the SEARCH space in Toolbar?

My Toolbar has a huge space for URLs, but a very tiny space for search items, question etc. It is very frustrating to use and I can't seem to find an easy way to adjust the space. My aging eyes like Safari better, but my brain prefers Firefox. Is there a solution?

Is it possible to search for strings containing spaces and special characters?

In our RoboHelp project, there are figures with text labels such as Figure 1, Figure 3-2, etc.
When I search for "Figure 3" I get all pages containing "Figure" and "3", even if I surround it in quotes. Similarly, searching for "3-2" treats the '-' character as a space and searches for all pages containing '3' or '2'.
Is there a way to search for strings containing spaces and special characters?

In that case I think the answer is no if you are using the standard search engine. However I believe that Zoom Search does allow this type of searching. Check out this link for further information.

Adding Saved Searches task flow to a Page Template

I am trying to add the Spaces "Saved Searches" task flow to my custom page template. I have tried a few different approaches and none seem to be working.
First, I tried simply dragging and dropping the task flow from JDeveloper's Resource Palette into my template. JDeveloper created added the following to my template source code:

After uploading the changes to Spaces, there seemed to be no change to the rendered template.
Second, I tried to simply add the task flow to a page in my test space via composer. However, as soon as I click the "Add" button next to the Saved Searches task flow, the page goes blank (white screen of death) and the following message shows up in the spaces error logs:
javax.servlet.ServletException: com.sun.el.parser.ParseException: Encountered "\'" at line 1, column 65.
Finally, I looked at how the out of the box templates implement the saved searches functionality. It appears that the saved searches use a custom folder in the Default Navigation Model. I looked at the source in the Default Navigation Model and found the following node:

Can someone please tell me if I am on the right track with any of these three approaches? Or where to look to diagnose the issues I am running into?

UPDATE: I updated the "activation" property in the page def for the allsavedsearches task flow to be "deferred". Now I am getting an ADF popup menu with two menu items: "My Searches" and "Other Members" but clicking on the items does not trigger anything...
Any thoughts? What additional information would be helpful for analyzing this issue?

Well this is what I am going to solve this
data:begin of STRING OCCURS 1 ,
S1 TYPE STRING,
END OF STRING.
loop at itab.
concatenate itab-f1 itab-f2 into string-s1 seperated by '|'.
append string.
end of itab.
then I can transfer this string to Application server.

How do I get address bar to go directly to the site addressed and not search

I use the address bar to go directly to sites. Yahoo interprets my input as a search request and delivers the same mess of options that a search bar would provide. I want the address bar to only connect to the site for which I type in the address. If the address I type in cannot be found, all I want is a notification of that fact.

Let's start by turning off address bar search.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''keyw''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''keyword.enabled''' preference to switch it from true to false.
Then test again with a nonsense URL. Do you get the expected error?
If instead you get search results for that or for any one word (space-less) search, then those results are a feature provided by your DNS service provider, which often is your ISP. Check the results page for any way they might offer to discontinue the service and just get plain error messages.

Yesterday an extra Google Search Box was placed in the body of one of my home pages. Cannot get rid of it.

I use Firefox as my reading browser and sometime ago stumbled upon a method to make the most visited sites readily available by having photos of their sites as a supplemental home page. Yesterday a large Google Search box was added at the top of that page that I neither want nor need. I search from the address bar. Always have. I've done everything recommended to reset the home page and nothing seems to work. How do I get rid of that space hogging search field (it reduced the size of the 9 site photos that formerly occupied that page;I just click on the page to open a site). I captured a screen shot, but it seems to be awfully large. Can I get rid of it? It just showed up yesterday.

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and choose Add-ons.
#Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the ''Extensions'' button on the left side of the window.
#You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
#To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the Remove button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
#Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the ''Restart now'' link in the message.

No Update OS 10.3.1 possible Q5 where I should take the space?

After I read now a lot of post for the problems of the update, Im still not able to make it. I deleted all!!! my apps, what was not blocked by the system but its still telling me, that it need 781 MB more space! I have no data there, no pictures, no videos, I deleted really all or transfer to the mediacard. And now after its still not possible. Im really going crazy for this!
there shoud be a solution, cant be that I´m the only one with this problem.
I tried per wireless, and via blackberry link. via Web its not possible for the mac... what can I do?
the system is taking 1,96GB
apps (what I cant delete!) 575
my data 177 MB
and free: 3,21GB
even I would be able to delete all the apps and my data, it would not be enough space!

Word order in searches matters?

I am fairly new to FCS ... but have a simple question.
I have some assets named "Ukraine Gypsy-1" and "Ukraine Gypsy-2" (no quotation marks in the actual names). I do a very simple search, typing in the words ukraine and gypsy (no quotation marks, no 'and', just the two words). I do a "contains" search. Depending on the order that I enter these two words (separated by a space), the search either works or does not, as follows:
If I type:
ukraine gypsy
the assets are found.
If I type:
gypsy ukraine
the assets are NOT found.
I didn't think order of words entered should matter, as long as you don't use quotation marks. What am I missing here?

Thanks, I will try that. Yes, that does work. It's confusing, as "contains" implies that the words, if contained anywhere in the metadata, will result in positive search results. The manual says to do multiple search words, one just enters them separated by space. But your explanation helped me make better sense of it than I could via just the manual!
Manual says "contains" finds more results, and "match word" is faster. In my experience, "contains" found less results, and "match word" was slower! When I did "contains", I got less (no) results; when I did "match word" I got more results - backwards from what the "more" and "faster" implied.

Theme 7: space.gif missing

Just saw tons of errors in my Apache log for
File does not exist: /opt/oracle/product/10.1.0/Apache/Apache/images/themes/theme_7/space.gif
Searching for space in the images directory gives me

Hi Vinay,
We have search help and list box as 2 different options.
At a time we can make a field a list box or a search help.List box is restricted and we can pick values from the defined list whereas in search help we can allow more entries and then validate the value entered later.
Implementing a listbox or search help in infotype is same as that of implementing it in a modulepool .
for search help..we can create a custom search help or check for existing search help in se11
then in the screen on infotype field..assign the search help direcly at the screen painter level..
double click on the field in screen painter -> change mode and then in the space for "search help" enter the search helps name
for list box..in the screen painter ,make sure the field is selected as list box..then in PAI of screen we do a
(Process on value-request..field fieldname module module name)..check syntax and other details...
Using function module vrm_set_value fill the field and populate it as required
