Spaces missing between words

Hello everyone,
All spaces are missing between words in my text area !!
I have already quitted illustrator and stop the PC but nothing change ...
Characters size and space are 100%.
I don't understand why it is no longer working
Many thanks for your help

Is this words or letters?
What is your kerning set too?
Is this happening on all new documents created?
Have you checked the Justification flyout from your paragraph pallet?
should look something like the above??

  • Spaces disappear in Word Documents being swapped between Mac and PC

Anyone know about the mysterious disappearances of spaces in Word?
Two days ago, I was working on a Word doc with a PC word user, swapping the 150 page document (w/figs, TOC, etc) back and forth several times. Spaces kept disappearing - sometimes between a period and the next word, sometimes between words. It took us a while to figure out something weird was happening. I will research it more tomorrow, but it seemed to only occur when we transferred the doc from one machine to the other.
We were working dated and the latest versions of Office for both PC and Mac.
    Any ideas?

I resolved this myself. The problem turned out to be a file path name error.

  • Find space between word with different endings and digit

    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to find spaces between word and digit.
I am limited to use only word 'WORD' (either capital or small caps) with different endings like -ing -s -y and more (using \S+).
I wrote something like (?i)(?<=WORD\S+)\s(?=\d+) but this does not seem to work due to some limitation of lookahead I belive?
    Any suggestions?
    Peter

    Hmmh?
Your Grep do not find your first example: WORD 0,2 (WORD without any ending)
And you don't need the second ()
And please do not use \S
    Use this instead:
    (\<WORD\l*)\s(?=\d)
    (l is the little L)
    Have fun

  • Sapscript - Repited spaces between words

    Hi friends.
I'm working on a ZMEDRUCK sapscript and when printing a line item, the item text (field EKPO-TXZ01) is being printed with spaces between words.
    E.g.:
Original value in EKPO-TXZ01: material test.
Printed: material      ...(two or more spaces)...       test.
This also happened with other text variable, but stopped happen when I formated with <K> text </>.
But in this case, its not working. I'm using standard IT Paragraph format.
What to do to take out the repited spaces ?

    Hi Atul.
I have already tested (C) statement in this variable and performs too.
There are more texts with same problem. Literal words have same problem too in address in the header.
I've already tryied copting standards paragraphs too, but without sucess.
A friend concultant said to me to make a test with a new paragraph with LEFT alignment only and LEFT alignment to all tabulators. I'll try that once and give feedback here.
    Any other idea ?
    thanks.

  • Office 2010 spaces between words not consistent

    Hello all,
I recently switched from Office 2003 to Office 2010. Since the switch I notice that the spaces between words are not consistent in length.
I selected the spaces individually and even in the selection you see differences in the size of the spaces.
This example is from a PPT using Ariel, 18 font size.
    Things I've tried so far:
I've tried disabling kerning, but that makes the font look really bad. I also tried adjusting the character spacing and while this does solve the issue on an individual basis, I don't have the time to go over every space in a document or presentation to fix
    this issue.
The text is aligned left and I've verified that there is only one space between the words.
I tried the same document on 2 different pc's. One of Windows 7, the other on Windows 8.1. Both have this issue with Office 2010. 2 Different computers using Office 2013 do not have this spacing issue.
Does anyone know if this is a known issue with Office 2010? Is there a fix?
    Thanks in advance,
    Zjef

    Hi Zjef,
Generally, in Word, spaces should be consistent for all texts, unless you have your paragraph set to "Justify" which means to stretch out the text to fill the entire space within the margin.
So please first check if you have this option selected for your text.
Also, have you ever tried to print it out and check if it's the same as on the screen? Sometime word will adjust the space to improve document readability, which vary by screen sizes, video cards, etc.

  • How can i write with double spaces between words ?

    hello everyone,
i need to write in pages with double spaces between words not between lines ..
how can i do it and make it default ?
for now, just write and click space bar twice ..!!!

Do you really need to do this? It is so ugly and illegible.
You can use a monospace font or use the auto-complete in Menu > Pages > Preferences to auto-substitute 2 spaces for each one.

  • Why is illustrator CS6 omitting the spaces between words?

Out of the blue, my type tool has been acting funny in Illustrator CS6. Generally my text boxes or bounding boxes are outlined in blue. However, now they are black. I'm not sure what instigated the change. Now I am typing in illustrator and it won't show any spaces between words. Everythinglookslikethis. In the character pannel, the kerning is set to auto and tracking is set to 0. Does anyone know what is going on? What are these black text boxes of death?

Creating a new layer changes its selection color. Look in the Layer's panel and double click the layer to change its color.

Not sure but, try changing the font.
You can also try the word spacing options in Justification from the flyout menu of the Paragraph panel

  • When I copy/paste a paragraph from a PDF doc, it pastes with no spaces between words. How can I fix this? I've searched everywhere for the solution but didn't find anyone had this issue.

When I copy/paste a paragraph from a PDF doc (onto Facebook status bar, for example) it pastes with no spaces between words.  I.e: "The manhadajugofcoolwaterand offeredmeadrink." How can I fix this? I've searched everywhere for the solution but didn't find anyone had this issue. I'm new to Apple so any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I can't speak about this occurring with FaceBook since I don't use FaceBook, but I see the same type of thing when I copy and pasted from websites. It doesn't always happen and I cannot find any particular set of circumstances under which it occurs or does not occur.
I am merely responding to let you know that it happens to me as well and I have seen no way to correct it. I'm not so sure that there is a way to correct in in that it may have something to do with how the original text is formatted in the PDF or on the website and how it eventually "fits" into the text field or the area in which it is pasted.

  • IDCS5/MAC - GREP Style to uppercase a letter after a dash between words

    G'day there.
I'm trying to create a GREP style to uppercase a letter after a dash between words, more specifically where one word starts with a capital and the one after a dash does not e.g. Lorem-ipsum = Lorem-Ipsum
The full story is that there is a standing indesign file used over and over again which data-merges surnames which are in a massive database. The data arrives in uppercase and our mail barcoding software allows us to Title Case certain fields, but the Title Case behaviour has the following results:
    * McLeod = Mcleod
    * D'Agostino = D'agostino
    * Smith-Bunting = Smith-bunting
i've been able to solve the McLeod = Mcleod problem with the following GREP style:
    (?<=Mc)\l
and then apply a character style which is nothing more than All Caps.
similarly, i've been able to solve the D'Agostino = D'agostino problem:
    (?<=\u')\l
and once again apply the All Caps style to the affected letter. This also solves the O'leary problem to O'Leary.
However, when I try these GREPs to grab the Smith-bunting style issues:
    (?<=\u\l+?-)\l     or   (?<=\u\l{2,}-)\l
the search won't work, nor will it work with regular Find/Change GREP replace... yet the expression \u\l+?-\l will find the block that i'm after.
    I could use the search
    (?<=\l-)\l
and this will find Smith-bunting = Smith-Bunting... but will also find co-operate = co-Operate (will find two words joined with a dash but  starts with a lower case letter).
This is fine if the para style is applied to the  line in the address block containing the client's name, but if the name is referred to in a block of text, then that block of text has to have the para style with the GREP style applied, and any dashes between words in that para behave the same way as the name.
yes, it is possible to go into excel and use the =PROPER(affected cell) and fix the Smith-Bunting fields, but i'm trying to create a solution which will work solely in InDesign so that other operators in the office (who aren't familiar with excel) can simply open the standing file and dump in the txt database generated by the mail barcoding software.
there are other names that the mail barcoding's title-case fouls up i.e.
    * MacLeod = Macleod
    * van der Graaf = Van Der Graaf
    * van Diemen = Van Diemen
but a GREP to make Macleod become MacLeod may foul up Mack, Mackie or Macy to become MacK, MacKie or MacY.
I also know that a GREP for the van der or van won't work as the style will only force letters to become All Caps, not uppercase to lower...
    Ultimately...
does anyone know a way to GREP style (not a find/change GREP) a fix for Xxxxx-xxxxx = Xxxxx-Xxxxx?
    Colly
    Colecandoo.

I agree with Haakenlid on his Dirty-Workaround view -- I feel data should be entered the way it oguht to, not altered by some magic GREP styling -- but then again I can also sympathize with your POV re: a fire-and-forget solution even your dumbest operator can't miss.
    Oh the rigors of life.
If you are totally, absolutely certain you want to do this by GREP, use this:
    (a) Set a To Capitals character style to the string
    \b\u\l+\-\l
-- this will magically transform "Hon. Lt. Sir John Forsythe Blunt-object" into "BLUNT-Object".
    (b) Then override ( ! ) the first half again with another character style that removes the To Capitals attribute ( ! ):
    \b\u\l+-(?=\l)
Notice how this expression is exactly the same as the above one, except for the very last code -- the next lowercase must also be caught, but now using a lookahead so its formatting won't be affected.
This removes the All Caps override from the first halve, changing it from "BLUNT-Object" back to "Blunt-Object".
Lots of side effects, I'm sure. Perhaps it is safer to teach your operators to run a single script.

  • Syncing styles between Word and RH HTML 7

Question about syncing styles between Word and RH HTML 7.The
printed Word format has Hdr/Ftr, TOC, Title Page stuff.
I understood that, when importing a Word .docx, RH creates
books for Heading 1s and Topic headings are Heading 2. That is why
both Word and RH templates use the same paragraph style names
(though the format in Word/print differs from that in RH/online).
I imported my Word file into a new RH HTML 7 project. The TOC
has the expected books/topics/subtopics. I imported the .css and
the .htt from the RH 5 template project. I selected all 160 topics
in the Topic List pod and applied the corporate .htt template
(Topic Properties > General) AND (to be certain), the corporate
.css stylesheet (Topic Properties . Appearance).
This project doesn't have the same characteristics as the
base/master from RH 5 that uses those same format files. I even
imported the same skin. I get the banner, but not the styles.
All the topic headings in the RH 7 project (were transformed
to) are Heading 1 styles, even though they were Heading 2s in Word.
(this breaks with my tribal knowledge of how RH imports
Books/Topics from a Word doc). The heading colors (navy blue, royal
blue, etc.) have taken on their own definitions--dunno where from,
    tho.
Since I'm OCD about creating and using one style for each
type of paragraph (procedurehead, syntax, procnum, procnonum, note,
bullist) in Word or in RH, Peter Grainger's suggestion to "clean
up" styles before importing shouldn't apply.
RH instructions omit any detail about what to specifiy in the
Conversion Options and Split On Style. I took a couple of swipes at
the SOS--OK, split on Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3. So I get
Books for Heading 1, separate topics for Heading 2 and Heading 3,
but the "topic titles" have become Heading 1 in name but not in
format. In fact, the format doesn't match anything I've specified
in Word or RH. I thought by "attaching" the .htt and the .css to
each topic (select all topics, , I'd have the look and feel I
specified in my corporate RH(5) template. The banner imported, the
navigation pane and icons imported. What happened to the styles?
Here's the missing link that someone may need to explain
(explicitly in Help somewhere). When I open the .htt template
(sample topic) that I imported from RH 5, the topic title shows as
Document > Heading 2 > in the Design view. The HTML view
    labels this paragraph as h2:
    <!doctype HTML public "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0
    Frameset//EN">

    <h2>NameOfPackage: NameOfMethod</h2>

    Hi Jim,
Don't know how useful my question is now, given that you posted over a year ago.
Do your RH X5 Word source docs use styles?  If so, take a look here, and I detail how I have been able to import from RH X5 for Word to RH 7 HTML.  (I'm currently still working on a leftover issue with Keywords and Subkeywords.)
One thing I have done which probably helped:  while applying new standards to our documentation, we have removed almost all images (screen shots, etc.), and have only retained those images which don't have a text equivalent.  The drastically reduced the import file size of my Word source docs.  All my images were referenced via TrueCode, but upon importing to RH 7 HTML, there was so much less to be processed by RH 7 HTML, that the import went much more easily and quickly.
    I hope this helps,
    Marjorie

  • Hi-In Script Editor how can we maintan gap between words in one line

    Hi,
Can any body help on how to maintain gap between words in same line?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
is it a Hard-coded text or a variable text.
If its a constant & Hard coded text then u can directly maintain by using space bar.
if its a variable text just define a paragraph format with Tab positions as per ur requirement of space..
    Hope it helps!!

  • Extra spacing between words in a line when an icon is inserted

Why do i see extra spacing between words in a line when an icon is inserted. Can someone please help me fix this issue as this is affecting readability?

Third option is to reference the image and show it below the paragraph.
The size of the image is in your control and if it needs more space than the text, it is going to take it.

  • Pages deletes spaces prior to words when backspacing.

Why does Pages on my iOS delete the space before a word when I backspace the word? Can I turn this off?
To clarify, if I deleted the word "blue" from "the sky is blue," it would, without a keystroke, also delete the space between "is" and "blue." That means I have to retype the space to keep going. This asinine "feature" (BUG!) is making it almost impossible for me to use Pages on my iPad, and I'm not about to relearn how to type just to accommodate it.
**I have iOS 7, Pages from 2012, an iPad 3 with retina display.

I am having the same problem.  It is not hen I select a word, it is when I just use the backspace key.
Ex.  If I am typing "I like dogs." And instead I accidentally typed "I like cats."  I realize the mistake and I press backspace once, it erases to "s" next backspace erases the "t" next backspace erase the "a" next backspace erases BOTH the "c" and the space.
This was NOT a feature before.  I use my iPad and apple bluetooth keyboard a lot to write.  This is causing me tremendous productivity issues.  I don't know what update did it -- but I just finished cursing my way through my first paper of this semester -- and I didn't have the problem last semester.
This is happening in all the iwork programs - numbers, pages, keynote.
    I'm beyond frustrated.
