Spaces Navigation Malfunction

I have Mac OS X 10.5.8, and I am trying to work with spaces. In both the Spaces and Keyboard Shortcuts system preferences windows I have set control-number and control-arrow for Spaces navigation, but the computer simply refuses to do anything beyond switch to the first space and then honk when I try any other key combination. How can I get the computer to recognize my key commands?

Open System Preferences/Expose & Spaces, select the Spaces tab. Check your keyboard shortcuts at the bottom of that window.
And in System Preferences/Keyboard, select the Keyboard Shortcuts tab. You can change keyboard shortcuts there.

Numbers 09 + Snow Leopard + Spaces = keyboard malfunction

A peculiar thing has started happening since I upgraded to snow leopard on my macbook pro. I'll open a .numbers document and it will open in spaces in the fourth space (lower right). If I think open a second document (also opens in the fourth space) and I move that document to any other space some times the spaces icon that appears when switching to a different space will remain for a while and my wireless keyboard will stop working. I can use the spaces command (apple + arrow keys) to switch spaces but that's it. All other key input does nothing until I lock the screen, logout or reboot. I've tried reconnecting my keyboard, verifying that signal gets to the receiver by turning capslock on and off (special lights on the reciever for this).
Dunno if it's a numbers, spaces or leopard issue but only appears to happen with numbers docs.

Even though it's happening only with Numbers documents, I think your chances of a useful answer are better in one of the OS X v10.6 forums. There.s no forum specific to spaces, so I'd suggest trying the Using OS X forum in the Snow Leopard section.

Support for 3Dconnexion Space Navigator

Photoshop has had support for these devices for several years now. Panning and zooming in Illustrator is a real pain. Even Adobe Reader supports these devices.

If you drag a supported file type onto the Acrobat 3D app (or use any other way to navigate to the file you want to convert to PDF) the "Acrobat 3D Conversion" dialog will be displayed. Check the "Add default views" box. This gives you all of the choices I think you may be looking for, including "Add from file".

Replacing Home Space with a specific Group Space.

We have a Webcenter Spaces 11.8 environment.
We are trying to completely bypass the home space and take the user to a specific space.
While this is possible to do it through the initial redirection based on application/enterprise role, some re-directions are causing the user to land in the home space.
Also, the user can get to the home space pages by typing in the url. We want to restrict the user from viewing the home space altogether and replace it completely with our group space.
Approach1 : Page Links -
We tried to bring in pages from the group space into the home space navigation model as page links. Even if the group space is public, we cannot link to its pages as we cannot see the pages in the page link popup. Only home space pages are shown. Is this expected? How do we bring in pages from a specific group space into the home page navigation?
Approach 2: Group Space Pages Query -
We can bring all the pages from the "Default Navigation Model" of the group space into the home space navigation model. However, the landing page upon login needs to be a visible page in the home space. How do we get the user redirected to a specific page in a group space and make that node as selected once the user logs in.

Multi-language navigation on portal

How can I create a multi-language navigation without a need to create same pages many times for different languages?

Hi guys,
I am facing a similar problem with a customer. They want to have the page titles in Group Space navigation in multi-language.
For example: Navigation in English: Home - Employees - Help. If language is changed to Spanish: Inicio - Empleados - Ayuda. These pages are created by final users inside a Group Space, so we would like to find a way to specify translations of the page title at creation.
I found Oracle guides where it is explained how to do page translations:

However, it implies WLST command executions and we need another way, because it is going to be performed by users, not administrators. Therefore using WLST commands is not a choice.

Spaces keyboard shortcuts won't work

i just got my new MBP, and i have noticed a little problem.
all of the F1-F12 keys were all given default functionality (i.e. F3 is Expose, F4 is Dashboard...).
well, when trying to set up the shortcuts for Spaces navigation, I have noticed that, no matter what F key I press, the default functionality is getting called and not the Spaces navigation.
I have even tried this with the command/control additions to the F keys, and have had no luck. i thought i read that this was a known issue with the most recent version of OS X.
has anyone else noticed this problem, and does anyone know of a solution?

apparently, i was looking in the wrong place. this was addressed in the os x forum.
using the command-arrow keys to switch between desktops will work fine with me, although i would like full functionality.
sorry for the repost. if anyone does know the real solution, please don't hesitate to let me know. it seems as though, while some people can get it to work, os x eventually forgets the keyboard shortcuts.
hope it gets fixed.

WC Spaces sidebar Sub-Menu, is it possible?

I have a question reguarding WC Spaces navigation.
I have seen that it´s possible to create new pages in the application, and each page will have a new tab in the top bar.
My question is, is it possible to alter the pages hierarchy to create a new level, and add a menu side bar on the left?

Does anyone have a 3D connection 3d mouse running on the parallels side for CAD software

I am trying to install a 3Dconnexion Space Navigator on the windows side. I am Parallels and Windows 7 Home Premium. The 3D Mounse works fine on the MAc side, but I have some CAD packages that will run windows only.

Very Frustration!!! As a teacher, I am forced to use ppt for my presentation so that I can markup the slides during a screen recording and post that on my website. All my products are Apple and it would be much easier, to say the least, if Apple would come up with a simple markup tool to use with keynote or at least adjust keynote so that I can use my Bamboo pad during a keynote presentation. Usually they are on the cutting edge of technology so it baffles the mind that they have not addressed this issue especially with the endless applications in education.

Will Cisco Unified Comms succeed against Lync?

When I first started my career in IT I specialized in Novell Netware which was a pretty good product and ruled the marketplace.
Microsoft released Windows NT which was vastly inferior to Netware 4.x but succeeded mainly because it looked like a desktop OS - no scary command line. Novell made some ill-advised decisions (WordPerfect) and now are just a footnote in history.
I am concerned that the same pattern will be repeated with Cisco UC and Microsoft Lync. Over the past year three of my customers have ditched Cisco in favour of Lync. This has not always been successful but seems to be a worrying trend. Has anyone else seen similar? - I first started working with Cisco (in the era of IOS 10.x) to get away from Microsoft. I need to make sure I have the required skills to keep me employed for the 20remaining years of my working life.

Here's the thing, James.
Since 2011, I've noticed the slide of "quality" by Cisco, from the (lack of) QC in IOS codes to the accuracy of documents published by Cisco. It's a worrying trend.
Last year, over at Cisco Live (Melbourne) 2014, one of the speakers told the audience that Cisco has shifted a lot of their developers to help improve Jabber. I was shocked when he said SHIFTED. Shifted from WHERE? Now I'm really scared.
And here's the thing, integrating Jabber to CUCM requires someone with PhD in Deep Space Navigation. As I've mentioned above, documentation is really bad. And then you start throwing systems integrator who knows nothing about the product, the complexity and end-users/company now quietly feel they've been ripped off. By the time they get the systems up and running (at all and if not fully), it's already outdated and needs heaps of patching, upgrade, etc. And by the way, due to the (technical) delays we (system integrators) forgot to get the system into maintenance contract so now client cannot download anything. Really bring bad news to Cisco.
Will UC beat Lync? Depends on who wins in a "race to the bottom". MS needs another cash-cow. If led right, they just might gain traction. Cisco has a few years of "lead" from the race. MS is still trying to replace/get over Steve Balmer's very destructive "stacking" policy.
Interesting, though.
By the way, our organization operates both. So far, we are observing more people going to Lync than Jabber.

Z68A-GD65-G3 boots slowly

I have this board in my computer, and I have found out, that if I have my 3D Connexion Space Navigator connected, then boot time is extremely slow.
Is there a fix for this?

The device may not be fully compatible, meaning that a BIOS upgrade may be required.
Does this slow response happen with a standard USB mouse ?

Bookmark Toolbar entries not showing up in blank space allocated for them under Navigation Toolbar.

Using Firefox 3.6.13 and 4.0b8. Both are not showing up my Bookmark Toolbar entries. The item does exist. I've used Firefox for years and that toolbar has always showed up. Confirmed that it still exists and was not inadvertently trashed by viewing item and listing when opting to Manage Bookmarks. The item is checked off for display in the menu drop-down (View-Toolbars-Bookmark Toolbar), the space where it would normally display my entries shows up directly under the Navigation Toolbar, but it is blank with no entries displayed.

In the View menu select Toolbars, and then Customize to open the customize toolbar dialog. With the customize toolbar dialog displayed, there should be an icon with the label "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" on the bookmarks toolbar. If it is not there, drag and drop the icon called Bookmarks from the customize toolbar dialog onto the bookmarks toolbar. There will be 2 icons called Bookmarks, the one you want will have an icon that looks like a sheet of paper (it does on Windows, I believe it is the same on the Mac).

How do I get rid of the white space between my header and my spry navigation bar?

I have been grappling with a problem for the past 2 days and cannot seem to work my way around it. I have been working on a page in dreamweaver cs4 that seems to have whitespace between the header and my spry menu bar ONLY in Firefox. Google Chrome and Safari show it correctly. How to remove the empty Top Navigation space on a main publishing page.

What I did so far was to use snippet into the page (using Script editor) to do the following:
a. Disable Top Navigation bar
b. Disable the Title
c. Remove the left nav bar
d. Remove the search box on top right

Extra space after top navigation & images not appearing

On this website www.actionmarketers.com/cch.html, I am unable
to view the images when the website is uploaded to the server, and
also an extra space appears after the navigation bar in Firefox
(not IE). Ideas?
