Spacing after paragraphs

Is there a way to control spacing after paragraphs in Pages for the iPad?
In MS Word, I can specify in points or inches how much space there will be after each paragraph. When I import a DOC file into iPad pages, that formatting is supported. But I can't see how to get that kind of formatting in Pages itself.

I've hunted round and it's just not here and worse than that, the templates not even have paragraph spacing built in. As a graphic designer, nothing irritates me more than people submitting copy with added paragraph returns to space them out. It is beyond tedious and needs to be fixed soon
Be glad that you don't deal with my wife. Instead of tabs, she uses multiple spaces!

  • Spacing after paragraph?

I'd like to use spacing after paragraphs which would stay
fixed to an even number of lines (typically: one or two
    lines).
    Is this possible? How?
I'd also like that this spacing would keep its value
(number of lines) when I change the font size.
    Is this possible? How?

Daniel, I think the solution may be rather
old-fashioned. Pretend the Mac is a typewriter and at
the end of a paragraph hit Return twice. I can think
of no other way to make Pages treat line spaces as
you want it to. Such is progress.
Old-fashioned perhaps... but the right answer. I didn't even
think it may be that silly. You correctly understood
my question: I wanted to be able to define a style
where the spacing after (or before) would always be of
"one full line" whichever may be the font in use.
And most importantly I never wanted to have to change the
spacing to a specific number of points everytime I decide
to change the font used in a given style.

  • Things are so hard to find in the new pages! Like where is the place where I can adjust the line spacing AFTER a paragraph? Grrr.

Things are so hard to find in the new pages. Does anyone know where to find the "adjust line spacing after paragraph" control?

Oh I just solved my own question! Drop down pops when you click the arrow attached to spacing.Just in case anyone else has the same question.

  • In Pages 5.1 how do I change the default spacing after a paragraph? I used to be able to do this with the inspector. I no longer see the option.

In pages 5.1 I was wondering how to change the line spacing after a paragraph.

This is from the online Pages Help . You have the option to the Help in your Pages Help menu
    Adjust line spacing
You can adjust the spacing between lines in a paragraph, and change the amount of space before or after a paragraph.
Click in the paragraph whose spacing you want to change, or select one or more paragraphs.
In the Text pane of the Format inspector, click Style.
Click the disclosure triangle next to Spacing, then choose an option from the pop-up menu:
Lines: Choose when the distance between ascenders (parts of letters that extend to the top of the line) and descenders (parts of letters that extend below the line) should stay the same. The space between lines is proportional to the font size.
At least: Choose when the distance between lines should remain fixed (but not to overlap if the text gets large). The distance from one line to the next will never be less than the value you set, but it may be larger for larger fonts to prevent overlapping text lines.
Exactly: The distance between the baselines.
Between: The value you set increases the space between the lines, instead of increasing the height of the lines. By contrast, double-spacing doubles the height of each line.
Click the arrows next to the spacing field to set the amount of space for the option you chose.
To adjust the amount of space before and after the selected paragraph, click the arrows for Before Paragraph and After Paragraph

  • How do I change the paragraph spacing before and after paragraphs in Pages for iOS

Being experienced in writing technical documents, I would like to know if there is any way I can setup paragraph styles with a specific spacing before and/or after paragraphs in Pages for iOS. You can do this in the normal Pages for Mac OS. Setting line spacing in Pages for iOS is not a very accurate way of formatting a document so that it looks good on a page.

    Hello James
I have realised this, but this is a long winded way of doing things and inconvenient if you want to create a new document using an iPad. To me paragraph spacing is one of the essentials when creating documents. It makes a document more readable and look more professional. For Apple to miss this out of iOS Pages is a huge error. Pages should be similar across all platforms where you can use Pages which will greatly overall compatibility, especially if you are exporting to other formats.

  • New Pages is double spacing after enter again- can't find the area in inspector that allows you to change paragraph format...help?

New Pages is double spacing after enter again- can't find the area in inspector that allows you to change paragraph format...help?

The "new" Pages is missing just about everything.
Your best best is to go back to the old Pages (mavericks puts in in your applications folder in IWorks.
Apple told me that based on input from users they will add back some missing features back but I suspect that will take a long time if ever.
They (Apple) say they created a new Pages to make it work seamlessly on various devices.
But in doing so they've dumbed down the programs to where they're nearly useless.
Any new users who don't know what "old" Pages could do will probably be satisfied.
But those of us who use this program to do real publishing should send feed back to Apple.
Apple has decided that we are "heavy" users and not representative of the majority of their customers.
That's why I suspect that putting back the features in Pages will not be top priority.
But just in case they really do read the feedback send them your opinions and feature requirements and just maybe if enough people squawk they'll at least put the old Pages back in the App Store (it's gone now).
One possibility crossed my mind. If the new OS Yosemite can mirror devices, perhaps we'll be able to mirror the old pages on to our IOS devices than you could have the full capability of Pages and the connivence of an IPad or IPhone.
    Wouldn't that be awesome?
At least in the presentation, it looked like it could work, we'll see.

  • Add spacing (leading) after paragraph

Is it possible to add spacing after a paragraph in a caption? (I'm using Captivate 5.)
Note: I don't mean "line spacing." I see that Captivate 5 has a "line spacing" feature, and it works fine for regular paragraphs.
However, when I have a list of numbered or bulleted items, I need to add space after each paragraph mark, for example, I would like extra space at the points that I've marked with a red arrow:
I must admit, that Captivate 5 is new to me (recently upgraded from Captivate 3), so if anyone has any tips or solutions, I'd appreciate hearing them.
    Thanks!

    Sushma.
The original poster (Janatwork) has indicated he/she is already aware of the line-spacing option in Cp.  What he/she wants is paragraph spacing.  This is different and can't be done so far in Cp by adjusting settings.
The only way to accomplish it (after a fashion) is to add an extra carriage return after a paragraph, and then change the font size of that dummy paragraph to try and achieve a suitable gap.
Unfortunately this does not work too well for bullet points in Cp5 because there doesn't appear to be a way to add a 'soft-break' after a bullet point.  In most other text editors you can do this via holding down the SHIFT key while hitting ENTER, But in Cp5 this still creates another bullet.
So we need some better text editing and formatting options to achieve paragraph spacing.

  • Where does one set space after paragraph in the new Pages 5.0? It used to be under text in the Inspector in the previous version, but I just can't find it in this new version.

Where does one set space after paragraph in the new Pages 5.0? It used to be under text in the Inspector in the previous version, but I just can't find it in this new version. Paragraphs seem to only be dealt with in styles, and the Formatting window for text doesn't seem to have the space after paragraph contrtol that the older Inspector had. What am I missing?

Sorry I did this without looking:
    Side panel >Text > Style > Spacing > Turn the triangle > Before Paragraph/After Paragraph/
This is the trouble with the Peeky Boo Contextual Interface that so many wiser heads than mine love to love.

  • How to space after paragraph in pages

If I could do one thing with Pages on the iPad, I would be completely happy with it:  controlling the spacing after a paragraph.
This formatting feature is in the regular Pages and the cloud version.  Why leave it out of the iPad version?
Or is it there and just very difficult to find?

You are more likely to get an answer if you post in the iWork for iOS forum at
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/app_store/iwork_for_ios

  • TextField and CSS: How to control spacing between paragraphs

I'm using an external CSS to format a textField that has some
HTML text in it, let's say something similar to this:
    myTextField.htmlText = "<p>paragraph
    one</p><p>paragraph two</p>";
How can I control the spacing between paragraphs when there
is no support for margin-top or margin-bottom? I don't want to add
empty <p> or <br /> elements to my text since they
don't allow exact control and insert too much space. Is there any
    good solution?
    Thanks

I think rob day's suggestion has merits too. Either way I
don't see any other way but inserting an extra element that adjusts
    the spacing somehow.
Yes, it sucks that the majority of styling declarations are
not supported but, on the other hand, it is not such a big deal to
insert an element especially with the powerful XML tools in AS3.
You can create a function that will preprocess all XML "page"
nodes and insert an extra <p> tag after each <p> tag
    (see attached code)
I did not check if code works - it is just a concept.
The same approach can be taken with rob's suggestion but
inside the <p> element that comes with the XML.

  • Getting blank space after paragraph in RTF template

    Hi there,
Thanks so much for all your help for your help.
I am running into one issue in RTF template, wanted to share with you to get any input on this. I have paragraph and Idid put in table at the top and there is xml tag that gives names after that paragraph. but I get blank spaces after paragraph and it shows names from that xml tag.

Can anyone help me or point me to get it resolved that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Varma for your prompt response and your time on this. I am still trying to get any other options to get this done as that is the requirement and with that blank page looks not fully satisfied for users and am trying any other ways to do implement this..
That's the reason I thought of putting this post again to get more inputs that may have.

  • How do I remove space after paragraph?

Does Robohelp have the "Remove Space after paragraph" button for reducing the space between lines, like the one in Word?

In HTML the space after is controlled by the style in your CSS file. You need to edit the style in the Style Editor.

  • Space after paragraph not appearing in browsers.

    Question from a newbie.
I'm using Dreamweaver (latest version) to create a rather long daily newsletter. Lots of paragraphs. I'm finding that many times, after a paragraph, I'll see a space before the next pargraph but then when I save the final page and open it in a browser the space between the paragraphs is gone.
This doesn't happen with every paragraph. I can go back and 'fix' this by backing up the second paragraph into the previous, then hitting Enter twice.
What I want: If I see a single line space between two paragraphs in Design mode I want it to appear that way in my browser. (I use both Firefox and Chrome.)
    Thank you!

Thanks in advance for your help.
FYI - I'm creating a rather long HTML newsletter for clients each day. It's mostly paragraph after paragraph. Very simple.
In the problem described above I noticed that when in Dreamweaver I always see a line between paragraphs. This is what I want to see. But a few times in each document, when I open it in a browser the line has gone away.
When the line has vanished (in my browser) is see this code between paragraphs:
    <br></p><p>
When the paragraphs show up as they should in the browser this is the code between them:
    </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>
    OR
    </p><p><br>

  • Spacing after full stop

    Hi
My printer is complaining that my justified text makes it look like there is no space after a full stop. In some cases, it does appear this way.
Is there any way to set a minimum or uniform amount of space after each full stop, within justified text? I have searching this forum + google but did not find an answer.
    Many thanks..

    Thanks for the reply Jacob,
The font is Myriad Pro, and the the app is InDesign cs3.
Actually before reading your reply I decided to you what you suggested, I went through and just added a space where there appeared to be none. This took a few minutes but the result looks fine.
I hadn't considered that it might be a problem with the font - I was surprised that InDesign wouldn't have a control in place to make sure there was proper spacing after a full stop, in justified text, but it makes sense that it could be an anomaly with the Myriad Pro font.
    Cheers

  • Pages: Space after paragraphs

I am unable to find a way to create space before or after paragraphs. The original Pages inspector facility was just brilliant, better than Word, so why tinker with it? Hard to understand this. The new Pages interface is not easy to follow, but I guess I will get used to it. Could anybody please tell me how I can create space before and after paragraph in a document.
    Please help,
    Pat

I had the same problem and looked forever without luck. Fortunately, my little brother found the answer!
