Spacing in Forms

I'm having trouble laying out the form in the way I would like. Is there a way to change the form to allow different spacing between elements? Also, is there a way to disable 'left allign' on text elements from affecting the whole page? It is playing havoc on my layout. Thanks!

You can not adjust the spacing between elements that much. You can add empty formatted text element to add more spacing but in general you can't reduce the spacing.
You can use resize the field horizontally by dragging the right edge of the field
or resize the field box the same way
As for you other question please refer to this post : http://forums.adobe.com/message/5901492

  • Line spacing in acrobat pro X

forms, made one in Pro X, to be used by someone in Reader
where can I find line spacing capabilities - (form is then enabled to use in Reader) looked all over for hours to find answer and nothing*
set font at Helv 9 point and the line spacing looks as if it is 4 point - very squashed and nor readable at all
    how can I fix this????

    hi there
In did try that, thanks for pointing out the Ctrl E, but prob still showing as same
tried diff line spacing allowed , diff pont size fonts, diff hard returns, no returns, was always using Helv and finally then tried to set as Times, but when saved and attached to an email, the Times was a sans serif font, and not Helv. hmm, I was hopeful because your solution sounded so logical, but to no avail.'
At one point, I thought maybe Forms is meant to only works with 1 line blocks, but I did see another pdf, where although it didn't accept hard hard returns - it ignores them, but they have the line spacing. The only diff is that in their form, somehow one can access the "sign" part of menu on side where it has 3 options  - Tools / Sign / Comment and when one goes to "sign" in their form - it is accessible and a drop down menu comes up with the option of "add text" is available.
In my forms, "sign" isn't available in the 3 options, actually I have 4 (Tools / Sign / Comment / Extended) options that appear at the upper right show up?  The menu comes with none of the options available but there is a small yellow box that comes up:       The security settings on this document prevent adding text and  / or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader . To sign this document, you need to print it out ? I can't understand this  thank you

  • Font size, spacing in editable PDF document (application form)

I am trying to fill out an application form that has already been created by a university. The form's instructions indicate that applicants must fill in the fields using Times New Roman 12 point font with 1.5 spacing. However, nowhere in Adobe Reader do I see any option for changing the parameters of the text that I can type into the fields. Is this even possible?
Here is the link to the document in question, if that helps:

    Thanks!

With Adobe Acrobat you can change the font in the text fields.

  • How to adjust letter (or character) spacing on PDF Form?

I am using Acrobat X Pro.  On my fillable form, I would like to set the spacing between letters.  As an example, if you go to the IRS.gov site and download the 1040EZ PDF form, you can see that the spacing between the digits of the social security number entry has been widened.  How did they do that?  I could not find it when I right clicked and selected properties.
    Thank you.

Thanks for your response.  I don't really need the comb feature if you define comb "as a field where each letter has a specific visible box that it fits into."
I am designing a form with a phone number and SSN. I am overlaying small vertical lines in the field to separate the digit groupings.  I just need to get it consistent and it would be nice to use a font that has a little more spacing between the letters (or a kerning adjustment).
Another forum said: "Try loading the form in LiveCycle Designer, which comes with Acrobat. If it's an XFA form (vs an AcroForms form), then you'll be able to edit the kerning in Designer."
Do I have any other alternatives besides purchasing 3rd party comb software?

  • Adobe forms: How to reduce the spacing dynamically between two variables

    Hi All,
I have a requirement where at the header I am printing the address and below that other contact detials of vendor. I have used standard address element of adobe forms and printing it on the form using a variable.
When my addres contains 3 lines only in that case other contact details which are below address varible should dynamically move up.

How can reduce the above spacing bet two variable. Please help me in getting the solution for this issue.
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi
You can concatenate the 2 variable and display it on that field.
    data.Page1.<field>.rawValue = Concat(data.Page1.<field1>.rawValue , "\u000a" , data.Page1.<field2>.rawValue)

  • Adobe Form, Line Spacing of Paragraphs

    Dear colleagues.
I have an Adobe Form (created by transaction SFP in
an ERP 6.0 system, using Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.1).
This form contains a simple table to display some text in the form.
The table has just one column for strings (type Text field, field
format Plain Text only, value type Read Only).
It works fine. However I would like to reduce the spacing of the text
    lines in the table.
Would you please tell me how this can be done?
(I tried the following, but it was NOT successful: I opened palette
"Paragraph". Under "Spacing", the value of "Above:" and "Below:" was
already 0pt. So I changed the option of "Line Spacing:" from "Single"
to "Exactly" and assigned to "At:" a smaller value, e.g. 5pt.
Then I tested my modified form, and I was very surprised: The
spacing of the text lines did not change, but the width of the text
lines was reduced! All letters were truncated: The above and below
part of the letters disappear suddenly.)
Would you please give me some hint?
    Best regards,
    Holger

    Hello Holger,
could you please clarify that you have a table with one column and in each row you have some multi line text and you would like to reduce the distance between the lines or you have one line per row and wish to reduce the distance between the text in each row?
    --- Row 1 -----
    text line 1
    <space>
    text line 2
    --- Row 2 -----
    text line 1
    <space>
    text line 2
    OR
    --- Row 1 -----
    text line 1
    <space>
    --- Row 2 -----
    <space>
    text line 2

  • CS4: Form spacing conflict between Firefox & IE

I just created my first form in Dreamweaver CS4. And while I expected the form to be challenging, it came together right away. But once again I guess it's my very limited understanding of CSS and the box model that's causing me spacing issues between Firefox and MSIE.
In the form below, in MSIE there is extra space above the first form field label (Your Name) and also below the final line of copy on the page ("touch with you shortly).
I put the form in its own div (contactForm) nested inside the mainContent div. And I zeroed out the padding and margins for that contactForm div. But still, the spacing is off. If anyone has any ideas - this is probably obvious to non-newbies - I'd sure appreciate the input.
    http://firinglinedesign.com/pds/contact.htm
    Many thanks,
    Scott

Guess I was on the right track zeroing out the margins in the div - a trick you taught me! But
I didn't realize I needed a rule for the form. Needless to say, that did the trick. Many, many thanks!

  • How to resample unequally spaced data in Array form?

I have an array of unequally spaced time data and corresponding signal data taken at these times.
I would like to resample the signal data to be equally spaced in time (constant dt).
How do I introduce the time data into the signal, then resample?
I have tried the "Align and Resample" express vi using constant dt resample and reference signal resample, both with my time signal as the reference and with a constantly spaced array as the reference (none worked).
I have tried to create a waveform using the data, but it seems waveform type assumes constant dt.  There is a waveform to XY Pairs vi, but not one for going the other way.
I have tried to build a 2D array and convert to DDT, but it seems DDT assumes 2D array as multiple channels.
How can I resample unequally spaced data?  I'm sure there is a simple answer that I am missing.
I am attaching a simple vi to illustrate my point.
    Thank you.

    Hi Sarci1,
thank you for the reply! I have already tried the Align and Resample Express VI, tweaked it and everything but it doesnt seem to carry out the functionality I really need.
Wiring a true value to the Resample Waveforms (single shot).vi input seems to help getting rid of the trailing zeros at the end of the array, although it did make the final resampled array smaller in size too, so now I have the same problem again (I wanted the resampled array to be of fixed length, but now its smaller by a couple of elements). However, this method might work, if I simply chop off those zeros, plus I reduce the size of the other array with which I want to compare the interpoalted one (even if this means losing a tiny bit of information this might be the only working option I seem to have right now, to properly interpolate an array to a cahnging size). Unfortunately I still have some other issues with my task; to summarize my problem I describe it in a different way now:
the orginal task is to compare to 'graphical signals', two spirals; one is a template, a perfect spiral genereted previously by a different program, the other is a hand-drwan figure
(these are different in size: the template is a fixed-size array, but
the hand-drawn array is completely random sized). To make matter worse,
the problem is that this hand-drawn array of X,Y points is that they are
not sampled equally in time. I have a timestamp for each, but they are
not equally spaced. My goal is to somehow make it possible to compare
these two signals first coordinate-wise, then in a polar system and
    eventuially in the frequency domain.
My approach right now is to somehow interpolate the timestamp vector
first, and then resample/interpolate the X and Y vectors of the
hand-drawn figure to the same size as the previously interpolated time
vector. this way I could get an equally spaced time/X/Y set of vectors
of a certain length. Then I should interpolate the template signal to
the size of the previously interpolated set of vectors of the hand-drawn
figure so I could compare the two signal at the same positions in time
    and frequency.
Unfortuanetly I've still haven't solved the first part, where I want
to create the equally spaced time/X/Y vectors, so if anyone has any
    suggestions please share it here!
Thank you again for your continuous help!

  • Is there a way to edit a cell?  I need to put some spacing between the check boxes...  I already have the whole form done 60 plus text cells, except 5 check box cells.  Is there a way to edit existing text?

    Hi,
I am new to the forum, because I usually don't run into stupid format issues.  I create most of my forms in word or excel then import them into PDF.  I need help with figuring out if I can edit some text without having to redo the entire document.  5 cells are off... really be steamed if I have to do it all over.

Acrobat can make limited edits to the text on a page, but the control you have is limited and may not be sufficient for what you need to do. To access the text editing tool in Acrobat 11, select: Tools > Content Editing > Edit Text & Images
and then click where you want to edit the text, and see what happens when you attempt to make the changes you want.

  • Adobe form Spacing issue

    Hi ,
    i m working on adobe forms .
i have develop a adobe form but i m facing some issue regarding horizontal alignment of space.
its look like thi in edit mode  :
    data : {dat}                                        signature:
    place : {plc}                                       name: {name}
    institute : {ins}                                   designation: {desig}
but when i go for print preview :
    data : 19.08.2014                                     signature:
    place : pune                                     name: Udit
institute : VIT                                                              designation: *** manager
    please reply .
    regards,
    Abhay

    Dear Abhay,
I guess this alignment issue is due to the Text object.
Text object works good for static text but for dynamic text Text field object is better one.
Use Text field object to display the dynamic text instead of Text object.

  • Too much spacing on PDF version of form

When I try to distribute as a PDF, there is nearly a whole page of space between my header and the form fields. In the web version, it looks fine though. What is going on? It looks fine in the preview as well. Very frustrating.

To see what the PDF will look like in FormsCentral you need to switch to the Page View
Look under the View menu at the top or use the button in the bottom right corner to switch between the Web View and the Page View.
I think what could be happening is
    1) you have a page break on the Page View that you don't need (removing/adding page break in one view doesn't affect the other view) so go ahead and remove the page break you don't need
    2) you have a element that is too big and can't be split up therefore it is moved to the next page
When you switch to Page View you might see explicit page break (that you can remove) and implicit page break (you can't remove them and the depend on how much content you have on your form).
Let me know if switching to the page view helped you to fix your issue.

  • Permanently save line spacing in a multi-line text field

Me: Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro, Windows Vista
(I think the people who will be using the form have Reader 7 on Windows)
I work in a doctors' clinic, and we use phone message sheets to document conversations between the patients/us/nurses/doctors, and I scanned the form and made it into a fillable PDF for our secretaries to fill out more quickly. The "message" area has pre-printed lines on it, and the multi-line text field I placed there needs to match up to the lines. I used the Rich Text Formatting options to set it to "Exactly 24 Points," but I can't get it to KEEP the formatting permanently. The only way I could get it to save the formatting in that field was to put a space in it and then save it, and then give that to the 2 phone secretaries. It works perfectly the first time, but instead of just closing/re-opening the file to start a new message, one of the secretaries highlights everything in the "message" field and deletes it... which deletes the line spacing formatting. I've told her
    b numerous
times to leave that starting space in the field, but she "forgets" so all of her messages look messed up. So is there a way to force that line spacing
    b PERMANENTLY
???? Here's a shrunken screenshot of the field -- I wish I could just erase the lines altogether so the spacing wouldn't matter, but the secretaries type/print the message out, then the nurses/docs write on the page with pen so the lines have to stay. http://img187.imageshack.us/my.php?image=notepreviewph8.jpg
    Thanks!

You can set the font size of the text. Then play with the underlines in the original document to match the needs of the font that is used. Print to a new PDF and then use replace pages to put the new page into the form without changing the form fields. I was able to do this with a word processing document by adding underlining in the document with 12 pt and setting the font to 12 pt in the text field. You can play with the font, the border of the field, and the underlining in the original document to get the desired result. Is this optimal, probably not. However it does the job.

  • How to draw vertical lines in SMART FORMS

    Hi Guys,
Can anyone please let me know how to draw vertical and horizontal lines in smart forms, i have to do this in the secondary window.
    thanks,
    Ramesh

    Hi Ramesh,
In the window output options you have option of check box to get lines.
Then you need to give the spacing for vertical and horizontal.
Another option is putting a template on window and getting the boxes, but it is quite little bit complex.
Put the cursor on the WINDOW in which the lines you want.
    Right click on it>create>complex section.
In that select the TEMPLATE radio button.
    Goto TAB TEMPLATE.
Name: give some name of line.
    From: From coloumn.
    To: To coloumn
Height: specify the height of the line.
    Next give the coloumn widths.
Like this you can draw the vertical and horzontal lines.
If the above option doesnot workout then u can try the below option also
any how you can draw vertical and horizontal lines using Template and Table.
for Template First define the Line and divide that into coloumns and goto select patterns and select the required pattern to get the vertical and horizontal lines.
For table, you have to divide the total width of the table into required no.of columns and assign the select pattern to get the vertical and horizontal lines.
if this helps, reward with points.
    Regards,
    Naveen
