SPAD define pseudo printer to start ABAP code

Hello,
is it possible to define a pseudo printer which starts abap code ?
During the ABAP code we want to do different things with the spool. Maybe convert to another format PDF/RTF, save to a destination,.....
Or do you know an enhancement that we can use. My idea is to define a printer called SCRIPT. In the enhancement we check if this printer is used. If so we call a function module with our special code. At this time the spool request should already be written so we can use it for the different conversions.
Thanks
Arnfried

Hi,
Yes, it is possible to convert the SPOOL to PDF and we have it in our environment. The spool gets converted to PDF and get stored in physical location of server and we allowed the read only access to our functional folks.
However, I am not sure whether they are using Pseudo Code.
Please check below links
Convert spool to pdf and send in email sometimes attachment duplicated.
Convert spool to PDF and save it to the local drive
Thanks,

Are you using reports or scripts/smart forms? You can use the parameter for no_dialog = space(use the relevant parameter).

• Is it possible to define a fnc module inside my ABAP code.

If yes then please let me know how?
The main program of the function "xyz" does not begin
with "FUNCTION-POOL". The above error is always thrown, if i try to
define a function in my abap code.
Currently I presume it is not possible to define FM here.
Can anyone tell me What function pools are? and the difference between function groups and function pools
Points will be rewarded.

Hi Vinod,
          I think the program the you are creating is a REPORT program. And you want to create a Function module for which as I told you need to create a Function Group. A Function Group is also a program similar to a REPORT program. So you cannot create a FUNCTION GROUP inside a REPORT program. What you need to do is goto SE80, there in the dropdown select Function Group and give a name to it and then using forward navigation you can create Function Group, Once you created the Function group you can create function module using Se37 or in SE80 itself. Then in your report program using CALL FUNCTION to call this function module you created.

• ABAP Code in Start Routine for restricing the data records from ODS1 - ODS2

Hi
I need small ABAP Code in Start Routine Of Update rules Of ODS . Im in BW 3.5 .
I have records like below in first layer ODS and i want to restrict some records while going to second layer ODS ..
ODS1 :-
DocNO   EventType    Date
123         001             08/08/2008
123         003             08/08/2008
123         011              09/08/2008
I want one record in ODS2 for this document number whose EventType = 001 only and date of third record ... like below
Doc NO     EventType      From Date          Todate
123              001               08/08/2008         09/08/2008
So how can i get like this record in the ODS2 which will get data from ODS1 . So i need to write the code in the start routine of the ODS2 .
So please give the me the code for start routine ....
Regards
Suresh

Its difficult in BW 3.5 to include this logic in START_ROUTINE as you cannot add the extra to_date field to the DATA_PACKAGE table.
You need to create a new global internal table with the same structure of DATA_PACKAGE with additional field to_date. then use the logic to fill in the global internal table
define a internal table new_data_package with the required structure like (docno, eventtype, fromdate todate)
data: l_w_datapkg_001 type data_package,
data: l_w_newdatapkg type new_data_package,
data: l_w_datapkg_011 type data_package
LOOP AT DATA_PACKAGE INTO l_w_datapkg_001 WHERE event_type = '001'.
l_w_newdatapkg-docno = l_w_datapkg_001-docno.
l_w_newdatapkg-event_type = l_w_datapkg_001-event_type.
l_w_newdatapkg-fromdate = l_w_datapkg_001-date.
MOVE CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF l_w_datapkg_001 INTO l_w_newdatapkg.
READ TABLE data_package INTO l_w_datapkg_011
WITH KEY docno = l_w_datapkg_001-docno
                     event_type = '011'.
l_w_newdatapkg-to_date = l_w_datapkg_011-date.
APPEND l_w_newdatapkg TO new_data_package
ENDLOOP.
Now the new datapackage contains the ODS2 data that u needed

      Two things -One is the performance and the other ... there is no Append  within the loop.
      Try moving the select statement ousdie the loop to improve performance and move the modify statement into the loop ... change modify to append. Code below.

• Execute ABAP code in Start Routine only once

I have ABAP code in a start routine that I only want to execute once. Is there a way to tell this is first execution of the start routine?
Also can I find out these value in the start routine ABAP:
1. How many data packets there are?
2. What data packet I am processing?
Regards,
Mike...

Hi,
I've just setup a little test:
TRules, Start Routine Global Decl:
DATA: GVI TYPE I, GVN(5) TYPE N.
Start Routine:
IF GVI IS INITIAL.
GVI = 1.
ELSE.
ADD 1 TO GVI.
ENDIF.
MOVE GVI TO GVN.
This is basically counting the times the start routine is executed and populating the var GVN; I am posting GVN in a char ZTESTGV in the target cube. I am posting as well the datapakID in my cube.
I have loaded two requests (each 4 packets)
the first one first to PSA and then from the PSA to the target: this is Serially using one single process. Here's the result in the cube:
Request________________________________DATAPAKID_____ZTESTGV
REQU_8B5ASGQNYYNIV1OJN68HFH1SR____________1____________1
REQU_8B5ASGQNYYNIV1OJN68HFH1SR____________2____________2
REQU_8B5ASGQNYYNIV1OJN68HFH1SR____________3____________3
REQU_8B5ASGQNYYNIV1OJN68HFH1SR____________4____________4
In this case the global variable is persistent accross packets.
the second request is loaded in paralell: this is, multiple processes are executed at the time. Here's the result in the cube:
Request________________________________DATAPAKID_____ZTESTGV
REQU_14QVH21BSVH44FAJW94BD7N2H____________1____________1
REQU_14QVH21BSVH44FAJW94BD7N2H____________2____________1
REQU_14QVH21BSVH44FAJW94BD7N2H____________3____________1
REQU_14QVH21BSVH44FAJW94BD7N2H____________4____________1
In this case the global variable is always1 !!
This is logic since several a process cannot access the internal memory used by another one...
Conclusion; the global variable will work only if the load is serial...
hope this helps...
Olivier.

• Convert ABAP code in start routine/update rule to transform. start routine

Dear BW ABAPers,
I have created a custom purchasing info cube (YCP_PURC1) based on 0CP_PURC1 standard cube. I would like to convert this new data flow to BI7 (from 3.x), and convert the standard update rule to transformation. I would need to rewrite the below start routine from the standard update rule to a start routine ABAP code in the newly created  transformation / start routine. My ABAP knowledge is limited. Will you please help?
*this is the start routine from the update rule. As a side note, the data source is 2LIS_02_SCL.
LOOP AT SOURCE_PACKAGE.
        IF (     SOURCE_PACKAGE-cppvlc  EQ 0
             AND SOURCE_PACKAGE-cppvoc  EQ 0
             AND SOURCE_PACKAGE-cpquaou EQ 0 ).
          DELETE SOURCE_PACKAGE.
          CONTINUE.
        ENDIF.
no_scl is initial ( e.g. for good receipts, billing)
value has to be set depending on storno
        IF SOURCE_PACKAGE-no_scl IS INITIAL.
          IF SOURCE_PACKAGE-storno = 'X'.
            SOURCE_PACKAGE-no_scl = -1.
          ELSE.
            SOURCE_PACKAGE-no_scl = 1.
          ENDIF.
          MODIFY SOURCE_PACKAGE.
        ENDIF.
      ENDLOOP.
if abort is not equal zero, the update process will be canceled
      ABORT = 0.
Many thanks and look forward to your kind feedback.
Kind regards,
Csaba

Dear All, Durgesh,
thanks to you all for your valuable input. Mainly the ABAP part was more interesting for me.
Durgesh, thanks for your input, it was useful. I just had to change the info objects to data source fields and add the lines before the loop:
DATA: I_PACKAGE TYPE TYT_SC_1.
        FIELD-SYMBOLS <i_package> TYPE tys_sc_1.
        I_PACKAGE[] = SOURCE_PACKAGE[].
        LOOP AT SOURCE_PACKAGE assigning <i_package>.
          IF ( <i_package>-BWGEO EQ 0
          AND <i_package>-BWGEOO EQ 0
          AND <i_package>-BWMNG EQ 0 ).
            DELETE SOURCE_PACKAGE index sy-tabix.
            CONTINUE.
          ENDIF.
no_scl is initial ( e.g. for good receipts, billing)
value has to be set depending on storno
          IF <i_package>-NOSCL IS INITIAL.
            IF <i_package>-ROCANCEL = 'X'.
              <i_package>-NOSCL = -1.
            ELSE.
              <i_package>-NOSCL = 1.
            ENDIF.
          ENDIF.
        ENDLOOP.
Points have been assigned accordingly.
Thanks,

• Starting SAP transaction in between ABAP code

Hi,
How can I start a particular transaction in between ABAP code if certain condition is true.
Regards,
Tushar.

If a program has a transaction code, there are two ways of starting it from another program.
If you do not want to return to the calling program at the end of the new transaction, use the statement:
LEAVE TO TRANSACTION <tcod> [AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN].
This statement ends the calling program and starts transaction <tcod>. This deletes the call stack (internal sessions) of all previous programs. At the end of the transaction, the system returns to the area menu from which the original program in the call stack was started.
If, on the other hand, you do not want to return to the calling program at the end of the new transaction, use the statement:
CALL TRANSACTION <tcod> [AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN] [USING <itab>].
This statement saves the data of the calling program, and starts transaction <tcod>. At the end of the transaction, the system returns to the statement following the call in the calling report. If the LEAVE statement occurs within the called transaction, the transaction ends and control returns to the program in which the call occurred.
You can use a variable to specify the transaction <tcod>. This allows you to call transactions statically as well as dynamically.
The addition AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN allows you to prevent the initial screen of the new transaction from being displayed. The first screen to be displayed is then the specified Next screen in the screen attributes of the initial screen. If the first screen calls itself as the next screen, you cannot skip it.
Furthermore, the AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN option works only if all mandatory fields on the initial screen of the new transaction are filled completely and correctly with input values from SPA/GPA parameters.
The USING ITAB addition in the CALL TRANSACTION statement allows you to pass an internal table <itab> to the new transaction. <itab> has the form of a batch input table. For further information about batch input tables, refer to Importing Data With Batch Input.

• Append Duplicate entries in Start Routine through ABAP code

Hi Experts,
I need to write an ABAP code in the start routine for the following conditions.
For every record in fiscal period (FISCPER) which has non u2013quarter months eg if Jan/Feb ie (001.2007 or 002.2007) I need to create an additional duplicate record which keeps all the other values same but negates the key figures and replaces the month by a quarter ending month
Eg: if my records are
FISCPER   COMP_CODE    GLACCT       BALANCE
001.2007     1000                     6789090       70
002.2007      1000                    6789090       80
I need to create/append duplicate entries by negating the Balance value and replacing the Fiscper with 003.2007
FISCPER COMP_CODE   GLACCT   BALANCE
003.2007    1000                6789090    -70
003.2007    1000                6789090    - 80
Hence the entire structure should now look like:
001.2007       1000        6789090         70
002.2007       1000        6789090         80
003.2007       1000        6789090        -70
003.2007       1000        6789090       - 80
Similarly, I need to append duplicate entries for all non quarter ending months and replacing the Fiscper with the quarter ending month and also negate the Key figure value.
Hence, similarly,
001.2007        1000            6789090             70
002.2007        1000            6789090             80
003.2007        1000            6789090             -70
003.2007        1000            6789090            - 80
004.2007        1000            6789090              30
005.2007        1000            6789090              90
006.2007        1000            6789090             -30
006.2007        1000            6789090             -90
I am very new to ABAP, can someone please provide the ABAP start routine code for this..

Hello friends,
I am writing start rotine code between ODS and InfoCube.I need your help determining the right logic.
Requirement is as follows.
1. Create one database table to store GL account ranges.
2. This table will have multiple ranges of GL account.
3. Write a code such a way that only GL acc. range in this table is included and
        all the other records containing GL acc. outside this range should be deleted.
Here is the logic which I have developed.

SAP is a robust system, which gives many facilities in the form of Function Modules (FMs) for connecting to external systems or for use within the system. With a clever use of these FMs we can achieve a lot of things through ABAP code.
This article focuses on ways to send E-mails and SAP Mails using ABAP code.
Firstly SAP Mail
A SAP mail is a mail internal to the SAP system. It is a very good forum to exchange information with other users. Using a SAP mail in ABAP code facilitates exchange of automatic messages at various stages of the business process. It is easy to use and saves many hassles involved in using workflows for exchanging messages.
The ABAP code to send a sap mail is built around the FM SO_OBJECT_SEND which has the following pattern.
call function 'SO_OBJECT_SEND'
exporting
EXTERN_ADDRESS = ' '
FOLDER_ID = ' '
FORWARDER = ' '
OBJECT_FL_CHANGE = ' '
OBJECT_HD_CHANGE = ' '
OBJECT_ID = ' '
OBJECT_TYPE = ' '
OUTBOX_FLAG = ' '
OWNER = ' '
STORE_FLAG = ' '
DELETE_FLAG = ' '
SENDER = ' '
CHECK_ALREADY_SENT = ' '

Once all the parameters and table interfaces are properly filled, call the function module to send the SAP mail to the recipient inbox.
Care should be taken to report the status of execution of the function module to the user using one of the exceptions defined (refer function module pattern above)
Though SAP mail is a very robust method of interacting with users within SAP system, it is always good to receive email in Microsoft inbox. This also works like an additional notification to users in case they do not check SAP mail regularly. The next article covers sending E-mails using ABAP.
Sending Email to a non-SAP system:
Though SAP mail is a very robust method of interacting with users within SAP system, it is always good to receive email in Microsoft inbox. This also works like an additional notification to users in case they do not check SAP mail regularly.
Sending an email to the Microsoft Inbox is a way of interacting with a non SAP system through ABAP code and hence is very interesting. A fair knowledge of UNIX shell scripting is assumed here.
The ABAP code to send an email to Microsoft inbox revolves around following UNIX script
Echo "From:" "<"$1">" > <unix file path name>
Echo "To:" "<"$2">" >> <unix file path name>
Echo "Subject:" "<"$3">" >> <unix file path name>
Cat $4 >> <unix file path name>
Uuencode $5 $6 >> <unix file path name>
Cat <unix file path name> | /usr/sbin/sendmail –f $fraddr $toaddr
(Note : the commands in the above script can be case sensitive. Check the actual case on the unix installation in question)
Let us understand the various parts of the above script.
$1 = Sender email address
$2 = Recipient email address
$3 = Subject of the email
$4 = Path of unix server file having email body
Form email body as an internal table in ABAP program, download it to a unix server file
$5 = Path of unix server file to be sent as email attachment
$6 = Name to be given to the attachment (like test1.doc, test1.xls). The corresponding Microsoft icon
will be shown in the email for the type of file attached ( Word document, excel document etc)
The script builds a temporary file and pipes the file to the sendmail command to achieve the mission.
This script can be invoked from SAP to send the mail to the intended recipient. Store this small script on the unix server. (Assume script name is sndmail )
To do this we should define a link in the SAP system between a customized command and this unix script.
The FM to define a customized command in SAP system has the following pattern.
call function 'SXPG_CALL_SYSTEM'
exporting
commandname =
PARAMETERS = ' '
importing
status =
tables
exec_protocol =
exceptions
no_permission = 1
command_not_found = 2
parameters_too_long = 3
security_risk = 4
wrong_check_call_interface = 5
program_start_error = 6
program_termination_error = 7
x_error = 8
parameter_expected = 9
too_many_parameters = 10
illegal_command = 11
others = 12.
In the next article we will understand the main parameters and table interfaces of the FM.
Import Parameters Name and Description     Field name     Field function
Commandname Name of unix shell script or command to be executed by SAP           Name of unix shell script to be invoked
Parameters           The parameters to be sent to unix shell script ($1, $2 etc). Send parameters as a concatenated string separated by space and length not exceeding 128 characters For eg in UNIX environment the above shell script would be executed as Sndmail [email protected] [email protected] Trial /home/test.doc testmail.We will be simulating this command using the FM from SAP system
Table Parameters Name and Description     Field Name     Field function
Exec_protocol (structure) Table to get messages from unix server after shell script is executed     Length     Length of the message from external program i.e unix
         Message     Log message from external program i.e unix
Export Parameters Name and Description     Field name     Field function
Status Contains the status of execution of external program            Scheduling status of external program i.e unix
Once the above FM is invoked with the necessary parameters the unix program sendmail will send a mail to the inbox of the recipient in Microsoft.
The restriction on the parameter string length of 128 characters can be removed to make way for very long email addresses and subjects. Build the parameters into an internal table and download it as a file on the unix server. Instead of passing each parameter individually, pass the unix server path of this file as the parameter to the unix shell script (sndmail mentioned above). Modify the shell script to read every line of this parameter file as variables to be used in the shell script.
In the next article we will see an example of the ABAP code you can use to send SAP Mails.

• How to write ABAP code behind, the OLAP navigation functions

Hi SDN Community,
We have created an artificial hierarchy within BEx, using order structure elements, or characteristic key figures as SAP calls them.
Now, the only feature that dosent seem to be present within the OLAP, is to expand all hiearchy nodes.
It allows you to expand one hierarchy node, but not all the structure element nodes.
I have tried command sequencing by specifying the technical id's of the the structure elements found via RSRT2, but this dosen't work.
I have seen that when the nodes are expanded, that there is indeed standard SAP ABAP code executing back in the datawarehouse.
Hence, do you know
- Where to make ABAP enhancements for OLAP functionality
- How to execute this ABAP (will it be by using Web API and javascript enhancements)
- Is this possible, or has it been done by anyone?
Thank you.
Simon

Hi Thomas,
I have been working with a brilliant ABAP'er, and together we
implemented a solution in the START method, that makes use of the
following methods and expands all the hierarchy nodes at start.
And this class can be omitted in the Print all view we have formulated
as only a collapsed view has been specified there.
thank you.

I found this all in that class interface CL_RSR_REQUEST
for N_R_REQUEST
for N_R_DATA_SET
Initial Value: Set Drilldown State of a Hierarchy
Description: 'SET_DRILL_STATE'
this looks like the method that gets executed. what do you think?

• Sequence of ABAP code and events.

Hello,
      Please tell me the proper sequence of writing ABAP code.
(Event execution sequence and code writing sequence.)
- which event should follow which event?
- which code should be written where?
- Sequence of Includes (e.g. TOP, PBO, PAI, Subroutine,etc.)
Regards,
Sharayu.

Sequence of Includes:
TOp Include  (All data declarations/Selection screen declared here)
Form Include ( All subroutines are placed inside it)
For a Screen
PBO
PAI
Load of program:When the program is executed
INITIALIZATION: Fill the default values into the fields or we can assign values to the fields in this event. It triggers first.
AT SELECTION-SCREEN: It is commonly used for validations like ON-REQUEST ( for search help) , OUTPUT ( modify screens ).
TOP-OF-PAGE: Header of the report or any data to print on top of the page in list.
END-OF-PAGE: Footer details like page no: / total no: of pages.
START-OF-SELECTION: For processing ur code selects, loops, FM'S and all.
END-OF-SELECTION: Output formating. It is not required to write normally but in some special conditions like to print after the START-OF-SELECTION event.

• Abap Code to populate source system id

Hi , so kind of All of you,
please help me, i have written the code in one to one mapping in transformation routine in BI 7,0 right click on zzsourcsys and go tp rule details. No syntax errors in the code but when i load there is no value populating to zzsourcsys . i have defined zzsourcsys as 12 char. can u suggest where it is going wrong, i checked in tools assignment of sourcesystem id is there in my system.

GS_MIN_INFO structure RSSM_S_MINFO contains information on the request being processed.
<i>G_S_MINFO. This passes technical information about the data load request,
such as requesting user, request date and time, update mode, the handling of
duplicate records, error handling flags, parallel processing flags, and what data

If tou want to use start-routine for optimization reasons and fill an empty field in transfer structure, the structure G_S_MINFO is available too.
USING G_S_MINFO TYPE RSSM_S_MINFO
CHANGING DATAPAK type TAB_TRANSTRU

And stay in FORM between limits :
$$ begin of routine
$$ end of routine
Update RESULT in first case, and field(s) of DATAPAK in second case.
RESULT = G_S_MINFO-LOGSYS.
or
