Spam and Virus Blocker EOL

Can anyone confirm that come December 31, 2015 the SPAM and VIRUS Blocker will become a brick with no more updates and no ability to to filter SPAM and Viruses?
Very troubling if true.  Money spent on a hardware platform just to have it go EOL a couple of years later.

Which model appliance do you have?  If you have a "Blocker" which is the small business platform - EOL is listed actually 12/2011.
If you have a C-series, or larger... EOL information for hardware is based here:

EOL information for AsyncOS revisions specific is based here:

  • Relay mail through Cisco Spam and Virus Blocker Appliance

I originally tried to add the ip in the relay mail through in the server admin. This didn't work and talked to apple support, did an enterprise capture after they were able to replicate the problem on their machine, and the engineer suggested adding the following line to the /etc/postfix/main.cf file:
    relayhost = 192.168.0.000.
I did that and tested sending an email to an outside address but no relay. Does anyone have any other ideas?

    relayhost = 192.168.0.000.
I find it extremely unlikely that IP address is valid for your network (or any network, for that matter).
I don't know if you've masked it trying to hide the real address (there's no point since it's a private network address anyway), but just in case that is what you've set, you will need to change that to the actual IP address of the mail appliance.
I did that and tested sending an email to an outside address but no relay.
What do you mean by 'no relay'. Do you mean that the mail server delivered the mail without relaying it through the appliance? Or that the mail didn't get delivered at all?
What do the log files have to say about it?

    FIXED!
I reverted back to 3.6.23 and all works fine. From everything I can tell; number of problems submitted, breadth of issues, no access to versions 4, 5, 6 (rapid version turnover with no support), and now beta being released for 8, it seems FF is having the user base do all it's alpha/beta testing without consent. Being in product marketing myself, I probably would have lost a significant percentage of my customer base by now. When FF begins to support a new mainstream release, then I'll be interested again.

  • Cisco Spam & Virus Blocker

    Hello
How is the license handled on the Spam & Virus Blocker? Our customer has approx. 120 Lotus Notes Mailboxes. But he only use 30 Mailboxes for external Mailing, the other Mailboxes are only used for calendar and internal mailing.
Can I take a Box for 50 users or will this not work? How will the Spam & Virus Blocker handle the license?
    Thanks and regards
    Luke

  • Spam & Virus Blocker / Exchange 2007

I have been running the Spam & Virus blocker for a month and love it. I'm in the middle of an email server migration (Ex2003 to Ex2007). I wanted the blocker to start forwarding (SMTP route) to my Ex2007 box instead of my Ex2003 box. The blocker continues to tell me that my Ex2007 box is down (Monitor - Delivery Status) and no mail gets delivered. If I bypass the blocker, mail gets delivered to Ex2007 just fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Problem solved, it was an ID10T error. I was asking the blocker to SMTP route to my domain controller and not the Exchange 2007 box. Once I realized my mistake, I put the correct server name into SMTP route, and it works perfect.

  • Anti-spam and anti-virus suggestions

I would like to ask and get some feedback about the free anti-spam and anti-virus tools which integrate with the Java Messaging System from Sun. I would also like to express my concern with SpamAssassin since I suspect it uses too much system resources. But, anyway, if it blocks the spam with a higher percentage compared to other solution(s), then I would forget about how much resource it requires as long as it is in reasonable amounts.
    Please send me your comments,
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Following on from what Jay said, SpamAssassin can indeed use a lot of resources if badly managed. This includes using large numbers of rulesets especially if they add very little to the overall score, and simpler things such as not using a local DNS cache. SpamAssassin if tuned well and if your system has a reasonable amount of RAM (2GB or more) can work just fine.
For example I ran x86 dual-CPU systems (less powerful then say an x4200) which were able to comfortably Spam (SpamAssassin) and Virus (Sophos Anti-virus) process 100-150K emails/day.
At the end of the day you get what you pay for. I tried out the Sophos Anti-Spam/Virus solution (Puremessage which has its own messaging server channel from memory) and found it to be very competent & slightly more efficient then SpamAssassin. In this case the cost was the limiting factor.
    Regards,
    Shane.

  • I'm using Mail 7.3 but can't find a "Block Sender" option, as exists in Outlook, as a way to block spam and unsolicited advertising. thanks.

I'm using Mail 7.3 but can't find a "Block Senders" option - as exists in Outlook - as a way to prevent repeated spam and advertising landing in my Inbox. Anyone have a solution for this? I've had a look at the Message Rules option but that doesn't seem to offer a fix. Thanks

You should be able to manage the problem with Rules, if you are happy to just delete the emails without you ever seeing them.
In Mail>Preferences>Rules, create a new rule with these options:
Description: Give a name to the Rule, such as Delete or Block Sender
On the line started 'If' choose 'Any' from the drop down menu and on the next line select 'From' and 'Contains', and then input the email address of the unwanted sender
Under 'Perform the following actions' choose 'Delete'.
As other senders you want to block send you unwanted emails you can add them to the rule by clicking the '+' sign against the line you added the email, if you have an email from that sender on screen when you edit the rule - they should appear there automatically.

  • Spam and Blind Carbon Copy  Bcc:

Apparently one of the ways spam is sent and bypasses filter rules is to put fake email addresses in the Cc: header and your real email address in the Bcc: header. I set the rules filter to only accept an email when the To: header or Cc: header has my real email address listed. Apparently, the Mail filter actually reads the Bcc: header as if it is the Cc: header since spam emails addressed to nonsense addresses keep getting through.
Is there a way around this problem. Can apple adjust the Mail filtering system, or do I have to block the Cc: header as well to actually prevent Bcc: addresses from being delivered to me?

I may have a much simpler rule to deal with Spam and Junk mail that you want to try:
If (any) Sender is not in my address book
Move Message to Junk Mail (a folder created on my Mac)
    Stop evaluating rules.
Since these mailers are certainly not in your address book, you only have to give it a quick glance to see if any of these messages could be from somebody you know, and not yet in your address book. Then I delete them all, without looking at them.
Of course this requires you to keep all your known contacts in the address book. It works great for me, just wanted to share this with you.

  • Mail server rejected message: spam or virus detected (#5.3.0)

    Hi everybody,
for the first time ever I got this funny message:
mail server rejected message: spam or virus detected (#5.3.0)
This happens now with e-mails containing a pdf which I a) have already sent before and b) created on the mac. Checked with another pdf just for testing - same effect. Any other documents work fine - just those pdfs don't work anymore.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bettina

    Bettina,
There is the possibility of the MS Office and Word being infected (but not the Mac overall) with what are called micro-viri, and are cross-platform. Many AV filters will catch those. I am providing a link where some of us discussed this MS Office infection:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2782109&#2782109
Let us know what you find? See also:
    http://outlandishjosh.com/wp/index.php?p=861
which you will see in that topic linked above.
I have not confirmed the path you chose to create the PDF will transmit this virus, but this must be checked out, and is probably the source of the message you are getting.

  • Spam or virus message

I bought a photosmart 6510.  When I try to send a photo from the phone to the printer to the printer's email address it comes back reading spam or virus.  Then I tried to send a photo from my photos on my iphone and I wrote in the subject area and sent it small version nothing came out except a line saying sent from my iphone.  I tried it from another iphone and it said spam or virus. Can you help

    HI tsp32,
One reason you are getting that message could be that your iphone and email have signatures. Make sure that neither of them have a  signature and try to send them again. Also you can make sure there are no forward or reply tags in the subject line. If you try that and still get that message it may be something to do with the photo file size or type so you might try another photo and see if that helps.
If I helped you at all it would be great if you clicked the blue kudos star!
If I solved your post please mark it as solved to help others.

  • No more anti-spam filter or block list updates?

Our Exchange Server 2007 (Enterprise) was receiving these updates rather frequently until February 2nd. There was a connection error but then nothing. I just looked in the Microsoft update catalog and the server
is has the latest updates (compared against the Exchange console).
What gives? Did support stop? Or, when will the spam and block list updates resume? Our spam has increased dramatically since that date... I've been searching a lot but everything I find only talks about having
that service enabled, which it is.
    TIA
Here are the latest versions I have installed:
Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise Block List Updates v3.3.14529.029    (2/2/2015)
Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise Anti-spam Filter Updates v3.3.14528.472    (1/29/2015)

Thank you for trying to help and offering that reply. I did try that originally. I've disabled and re-enabled both through the command line and through the management console. Everything shows that the updates
are off/on (as I make the change), indicating all the commands are working as they should.
Unfortunately, it seems there just aren't any updates. It doesn't make any sense. When I go to the link below, I don't see anything there beyond February
1st. And, I have all the updates through then (on the block/spam side) and I can receive manually and automatically all the updates for SBS 2008 in general since. It's just this one product feature not working/updating...
Is anybody getting updates for Exchange 2007 Enterprise?
Here's the link that's not showing any updates since February 1st, 2015:

  • I was on facebook and accidentally blocked the icons for my notifications, messages and friend requests. How do I unblock it?

received a notification that looked like spam and I was trying to block that notification and ended up blocking the images.

    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_do_not_load
You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
    * Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
    * Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
    * Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    * Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
    * Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
    * If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • In game pop ups and viruses

iPad mini version 8.0.2 (pending update to 8.1.2)
I was was playing a game (puzzlecraft) when what looked like a legit notice popped up during gameplay. However it popped up just as I touched the screen so it was answered before I could read it or know what I was pressing. As there was recently issues with some apps (from external app sources) and virus or something so I was curious if an iPad that wasn't jailbroken and only has store bought apps could be hacked or get viruses.
Most other answers that I've looked at say no but that was before the issues came up towards the end of 2014. I am assuming that as I haven't downloaded anything not from apple I would be pretty safe but was also curious if Safari was as safe? Can a virus be transferred from the Internet (websites not email) to an ipad (or iPhone/iPod) that can monitor apps like banking and such?
I have looked for answers but they are either old, not answering what I'm after (focus on jail broken or emails) or too full of tech words that I don't understand. any answers would be appreciated.

There are, however, some very aggressive ads out there. Ones that hijack your device and send it to the app store or ones that hijack safari and open the app store.
That's most likely what you're experiencing.
Ways to get rid of it include getting the paid version of the game which should have no ads. Using an ad blocking app to keep them from showing up, in Safari clearing out your history and not visiting the site anymore.
