Spam Data Entry In iCal (Calendar

Hello.
Anybody else received a suspicious calendar in Calendar similar to this.
£5,000,000.00 WILL Funds
I have WILLED £5,000,000.00 to you as my next of kin. If you really want to know why i have WILLED this money to you kindly reply back to my private email: [email protected] for more details.
I've checked the email account linked to this calendar & no email is linked to it.
It seems spamming calendar is the new thing!

I've done this and it doesn't work. I filed a new report about this, so far ignored by Apple:

  • Changing the default data location for iCal calendars

Is there any way to tell iCal to pull its calendar data from a different location other than ~/library/calendars ? I realize that this would probably require some app hacking, but if anyone knows how it would allow me to create an incredibly easy and efficient sync solution that I'd be happy to share. This also goes for apps like Address Book, Mail, etc. All I need to do is tell iCal to look for its "Calendars" folder in, for example, ~/Desktop/Calendars

OK. Move ~/Library/Calendars to your new Drop Box. This will ('cos it is a separate volume) leave a copy in ~/Library, so delete the Calendars folder there.
In terminal you will need a command something like
    ln -s /Volumes/Drop\ Box/Calendars/ Library/Calendars
    A couple of notes:
the first argument after the -s is the "source" - the folder that is being linked to; the next is the linking file or directory
terminal provides some auto-completion, so type as far as the -s /Vo then press tab and it will fill in as far as the next /, then type Dr and tab again and it should complete the first arg (make sure there is a trailing /) then type the space and Li and tab and then you will have to type in Calendars yourself 'cos terminal can't guess what you want
the last Calendars don't get a trailing /
If it has worked and you use Finder to look at ~/Library/Calendars you should see (apparently) the normal set of calendar files in it. Make sure your Drop Box is read and write accessible by both users.

  • Deleting Past Dates from an iCal calendar

I have just imported the date book from my palm (10 years worth). It was a little tricky at first (I had to create a new palm user and then export that file-- not my main file.) But it did import into iCal as an "other" calendar.
Here is my question. Because I have over 10 years worth of data its makes viewing slow!
Is there a way to delete previous years of data? I would like more than 30 days which appears to be an option in prefs.
Does anyone have any creative suggestions?

    THANKS!

  • Multiple entries from iCal calendar being displayed, why?

My Trainingpeaks account is synced with calendar using iCal. Recently multiple entries fro the same vent are being displayed. How do I stop this?

Probably because of iCloud since I assume you started it up on both Macbook and a mobile device.

  • View Date Entry Added to Calendar

Using Oracle Calendar 6.0. I'd like to see when a co-worker put an agenda item on their calendar - the day and time the entry was made by them. Is this a possibility? I don't have access rights, but I just want to see when the entry was added to their calendar. Thanks.

It will be mm/dd/yyyy format by default. To change ths format, u must create a dictionary variable of type date and assign the format as required(eg: dd/MM/yyyy) in Representation tab. Then make the context variable type as this dictionary type.
Date navigator is used to display the Calendar in the form to select the dates.  It can display more than one month and it will always be displayed in form.

  • I lost my MacBook calendar when I performed the action required by 5 May although I have all information on my iPhone and iPad. How do I restore the data on my iCal calendar?

I have performed all the relevant actions required before 5 May to conform with Apple instructions. I have lost my calendar on my MacBook although all is still OK on my iPhone and iPad. I have tried various ways to restore the data including going to MobileMe but I have been unsuccessful. I have tried to merge the information from my iPhone but this did not work either. My Contacts and mail are all OK. Coincidentally I am also unable to access my external hard drive which is working in itself (it is warm and whirrs when activated) but my back ups are failing. Any ideas out there?

  • Iphoto only imports some ical dates when making a calendar

I am using Iphoto 11, on snow leopard, attempting to create a calendar populated with dates from ical.  some dates show up, but many don't.  there doesn't appear to be a pattern in terms of which dates appear and which don't.  I have seens some posts that suggest dates with multiple events won't work, but this isn't the pattern i have seen.  i have some dates with mulitple events that are imported and some that aren't.  it also does seem to hit a date and stop, the missing dates are all throughout the year.
Anyone encounter anything like this before?  Any work arounds?
Gosh I hate buggy software. #$&!@2

through additional experimentation, here is what i learned.
when i created the calendar, i told iphoto i wanted to display american holidays and a calendar from ical.
If i unselect the show holidays options, my dates import correctly.  with holiday selected i get some dates from ical, but only to the extent they don't over lap with holidays.
once i noticed this pattern, i went back and forth and sure enough if you have an event from ical on say chirtmas day, it won't be imported into your calendar.
I didn't seem to matter which order the events were added to the calendar ... holidays first or ical calendar dates first.
Finally, i created an ical calendar with the holidays i wanted displayed, then in iphoto told it not to include holidays, but to display both ical calendars.  That had the same issue.  on date where you have events on both calendars, only one set of dates will appear in iphoto.
so to conclude building a calendar in iphoto you can not include dates from mulitple ical calendars without conflict.
i stopped short of merging calendars in ical, but i guess that's next.
Not to be too critical here, but that sounds like bug someone at apple might be able to fix.
Perhaps some of the developers you have building weekly updates to itunes and put them to work cleaning up this kind of mess.
Hope this helps others with the same problem.
    regards.

  • HT4967 Is there a way to import data to an iCloud calendar if you don't have a Mac?

What options exist for moving data INTO an iCloud calendar?  The only options I can find for importing data involve using iCal calendars on the Mac.
I have an iPhone and an iPad and would like to manage my calendars via iCloud.  I have event data (most sports team schedules and the like for my kids) which I would like to "load" rather than typing in.  In the past, I always used CSV files (most of the data is distributed in Excel), ICS files, etc. and imported into Outlook.  Please don't tell me to sync with Outlook as I am trying to eliminate Outlook out of the equation.
I just don't see any way to get data into an iCloud calendar other than typing it in or sync'ing with another calendar program.  Am I missing something?

Typing it in or Synchronizing are the only ways, but if you don't want to use Outlook (a stance I agree with) try eMClient. It's free for one user and 2 machines, Vista and Win7 are supported.

  • Through my iCal calendar I decided to share my entries with my husband and I thought I was doing everything that was prompted of me to do but not only can I not find "us" or the URL address in the internet but I no longer have ANY CALENDAR ENTRIES!grrrrr

If there is anybody out there who can help me find my iCal entries from this week forward I would soooo appreciate it!  I decided to "share" calendars with my husband and in doing so I have lost my appointments and can't find the URL or http:// blah, blah anywhere.  I looked through my Time Capsule and of course nothing is there (it shows what exists now in the calendar which is nothing), I looked in iCloud and I don't know how to retrieve my stuff.  Thank you in advance for your help.  I really don't like these things because I am not very good at them.  What I would think is simple every time becomes a huge mess and wasted life.

As iCloud does not have your calendars we have two options:
Contact Apple ASAP and ask them to see if they have a backup copy of your calendar data which they can restore from the server to iCloud.  It's not Apple's responsibility to maintain backups of your data but most servers have a backup of some type.  The challenge is that those backups probably get refreshed fairly quickly so you need to contact them fast so they can put a request in to whoever manages the iCloud servers (it might not be possible but its worth asking).  http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
Something you can do right now:If you have a Time Capsule that suggests you are running Time Machine which backs up your entire computer (else why have a Time Capsule).
Make an iCal backup of what you still have:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
Go to Calendars > Go Offline
Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    Quit all open applications
    Click anywhere on your desktop
Go to the "Go" menu at the top of the screen and hold down the "option / alt" key on your keyboard.
Click on the "library" option in the menu.
While in the Library go to the Time Machine menu at the top right corner of your computer screen (Little clock face with an arrow going around it in a circle) and click "Enter Time Machine".
In Time Machine click on the the time line running down the right hand side of the screen to choose a date / time when you are 100% confident that iCal had the events you are looking for.
Once you've gone to the date you want, highlight the "Calendars" folder in the Library window.
Click the button that says "restore" in the bottom right.
Once the restore is complete, open iCal and see if your events are there.
If the events are there, Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to your desktop.
If the events are not there, go back into Time Machine and try an earlier date.
Once the calendars are restored to iCal and you've exported a copy out, go to Calendars > Go online
If the events vanish you can re-import them from the copies you exported to the desktop.

  • Calendar from Now-Up-To-Date sync wtih iCal and iPhone

I've been struggling to sync my current Now Up To Date calendar with my iphone and I think I have a solution for at least a one-way sync. Here's a copy of my post from another forum. I hope it helps others....
Does anyone else have a better solution?
I've been using my Treo as a go-between for Now Up To Date and iCal with software from The Missing Sync. This seems to work as a one-way sync from NUD to my iCal. I sent an email to them asking for help and here's their reply:
    Description of problem:
Hi. I've been trying to use your software to get my data from Now Up To Date (NUD) to iCal so that I can have it on my iPhone. I know you don't support the iPhone, but maybe you can see if my approach is valid at all. I have a profile in The Missing Sync that only uses the NUD conduit. It is able to get any changes to my Treo 700p just fine. Then I made another profile that only uses the Mark/Space Tasks and Events conduits to get that data from the Treo to iCal. Somehow it worked a few times, but not any more. Is my idea a good one? Should I keep trying or give it up?
    Steps to Reproduce:
    Here's my steps.
    1) Profile named NUD Treo. Has active only the NUD conduit, set to synchronize. I run the sync from the Treo and all changes I made in NUD are transfered to the Treo just fine.
    2) I change to the profile named Treo iCal. I have slected the two condiuts, Mark/Space Events and Mark/Space Tasks. I have it set to synchronize all categories. When I run the sync from the Treo, it works for a bit, but none of the changes show up in iCal. Even though the items show in the Treo's calendar, they don't transfer to iCal.
A couple of times when I did the transfer I saw a comment "pushing from handheld".... and on those syncs the data showed up. But it doesn't always say that and the data doesn't transfer on thos syncs.
The reply from The Missing Sync's Support:
    Hello,
    Yes, that procedure should work.
First, update to 5.1.2 if you haven't done so yet. http://www.markspace.com/ftp/missingsyncpalmos5.1.2.dmg
Then follow these directions to have the Palm overwrite the Mac's Address Book and iCal.

  • Is there a way to copy an ical calendar and then re enter it in ical at a later date?

is there a way to copy an ical calendar and then re enter it in ical at a later date?  i am trying to copy my workout calendar and move it forward but i want to keep the one from june july and august of this year.  I guess techinically it is a recurring calendar but all the exercises recur at different intervals

If you want to share albums on dropbox or similar web services, set the album in your custom order and use the export command to a temporary folder on your computer. To keep the sort order, use the option to rename with a common starting text string plus an order number. Since you'll upload those files to Internet, also use the resizing feature to export in a reasonable size, not too big for uploading/downloading, and not too small if you want your relatives to able to print and not only to view.
So, you'll get a folder ready to upload and share via Dropbox or another Web service.

  • I just upgraded to the new mobile me calendar and now all my calendar entries on iCal have been erased. As I type this the calendar entries are still on the mobile me and iphone calendars. How do I restore the calendar entries to iCal?

I just upgraded to the new mobile me calendar and now all my calendar entries on iCal have been erased. As I type this the calendar entries are still on the mobile me and iphone calendars. How do I restore the calendar entries to iCal?

Please always post your System details when you have a query. The upgrade to the new MobileMe calendar produces different results, and different problems, with different versions of OSX.
Snow Leopard: during the upgrade process your iCal calendars should be moved to MobileMe (this can take some time and you have to wait for it to happen). Once done, your iCal reads the calendars from MobileMe so any changes made in either place will be visible immediately. If this has not happened then this Apple Tech Note provides instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3397
Leopard: when the upgrade is completed iCal on Leopard will not be able to see the MobileMe calendars until an additional process is carried out, detailed in this Apple Tech Note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4330
Tiger: iCal on Tiger cannot read the MobileMe calendars, period. The only workaround is to upgrade to Leopard, or Snow Leopard if possible (Intel Mac required).

  • HT1692 I use an iPhone 5, and want to sync my phone calendar and contacts with Outlook 7 calendar and contacts; twpo problems--I now get dozens of new calendars every time, and my calendar will not syncd at all.; meaning that date entries on Outlook do no

I use an iPhone 5, and want to sync my phone calendar and contacts with Outlook 7 calendar and contacts; two problems--I now get dozens of new calendars every time, and my outlook calendar will not sync at all.; meaning that date entries on Outlook do not come across ot iPhone.

It is unusual for the calendar to sync and not the contacts in Outlook. I've worked with Outlook for years. You didn't answer what computer OS you are using. If it is Windows, have you tried to reset the sync history in iTunes? Do that by opening iTunes, go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and click on reset sync history. If you have done this and it doesn't help, then we can try and run scanpst.exe on your Outlook file and see if there are any errors. Search your computer for that file, however it normally resides in one of the Microsoft Office folders in the folder Program files. After that, you can see if it will sync.

  • Is it possible to enter events into a specific iCal calendar, then print a list of those events with the name and date on a single sheet?

Is it possible to enter events into a specific iCal calendar, then print a list of those events with the name and date on a single sheet?  I don't need the calendar grid.  I just want a list of events on a particular calendar, and their dates.  Is that possible?

    Not easily. Two possibilities:
    1) If all the events have some common feature (eg you have included "XXX" in all the summaries), search for that feature then select and copy the found items at the bottom of the window. You can then paste them into TextEdit or a spreadsheet for printing
    2) You could write an Applescript to locate the events and write them into a text file for printing.
The first one will probably give you what you want.

  • Blue TODAY banner on monthly iCal calendar doesn't indicate current date

Why doesn't the blue TODAY banner on monthly iCal calendar on iPad indicate current day?  (I.e., today is Wednesday Feb 8 but the blue TODAY banner is still on Tues Feb 7) .  I'm syncing to my other devices with iCloud. This problem only happens on the iPad.

Duh... My contrast settings were messed up and I couldn't see that today's date was highlighted.
