Spam Detector settings.

I am also having the same problem with the Spam Detector settings. I keep trying to set it "On" for a sub account and when I save, I get a message that says "Unable to Save".

  • Spam detector doesn't work?

I move unwanted e's to spam detector but they keep coming through

clicking spam does not make it so that the email stops coming.  All it does is it sends a notification to the auto spam software, and then after a collection of complaints it gets added
or the initial scan reveals obvious trigger words is found then it gets added.
To stop those emails from flat out coming you have to utilize your filters and your blocked senders lists manually.

What does SPAM DETECTOR tool do?
Your ability to communicate with family or friends can be hindered by unsolicited email or "spam". If you have your SPAM Detector ON, it will sift and catch unsolicited emails sent to your email account and either present them in the SPAM Detector folder or delete them. (Note: You can adjust your SPAM Detector settings in the Settings/Email Settings tab within Message Center.)
Furthermore, if there are emails you deem as SPAM, you can “Mark as SPAM” by selecting the email from your email inbox list view and select SPAM icon from top menu bar. It will put the email in your SPAM Detector folder and send an email to the VZ Abuse team and third party vendor to evaluate. If it is deemed SPAM, SPAM Detector definitions/rules will be updated.
Please note that marking email as SPAM does not add the email to the Blocked Senders list. Furthermore, SPAMMERs rarely use the same email address more than once to send SPAM.
additionally here are some helpful hints about best practices for email in general.
You should start reporting the spam with a spam button in the webmail client
Forward spam emails that were not caught to [email protected]
Set your e-mail filter. An e-mail filter and spam blocking software are absolutely critical. Set these security measures to update automatically to ensure that you are protected from the latest threats.
NEVER reply to spam. Replying to spam, even to "unsubscribe," could set you up for more spam.
Protect your e-mail address and instant message ID. If you must post this information online, set up two identities, one for real use and one for online activities.
Be wary of e-mail attachments. Change the settings on your e-mail program so that images and attachments are not opened automatically. Only open attachments from users known to you.
Watch out for phishing scams. Don't click on links in e-mails or instant messages unless the sender is known to you. Instead, open a separate web browser and visit the site directly.
Create smart and strong passwords. Use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.
Never enter your personal information in a pop-up window. You may not be able to tell when a scammer has hijacked a seemingly legitimate site.
Don't fill out online surveys, or register for contests or fan clubs. These may be fronts for spammers trying to collect your e-mail address

  • Verizon Outgoing Spam Detector is Seriously Flawed

Several times in the past few months I've tried to respond to emails to me with simple, one or two line comments. This has been done from Outlook. In each case Verizon bounced my email as being spam. Absolute nonsense. I sent the email as per their Spam Detector instructions, but they did nothing, as a second sending of the same email reply was blocked. What is going on if a residential customer cannot even send a simple email reply? Of course, there is no one to talk to, as they don't seem to care.

As stated in the Spam FAQ page, you will not get any response when sending the message to [email protected] for review. You attach the message that you are unable to send, and they review it. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the filter will either be updated to allow the content that was previously blocked, or it will be determined to be a legitimate block and no changes will be made.
Some troubleshooting steps you can try:
If you have a signature, try removing one line at a time from it and attempting to send the message again. Some signatures look like "ads" to the filters, apparently.
If you are using a pop3 client (Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.) try sending your message from the verizon.net website. If this resolves the issue, then it is something that your client is adding to the message that is causing it to be blocked.
If the Subject line of your message has a whole bunch of "Fwd: Fwd: Re: Fwd:" try removing some of them.
Remove any links/URLs from the email one at a time to isolate if one of them is causing the block.
Some people have suggested sending the message to [email protected] for investigation. This may work for you as well.

  • Does spam detector actually do anything?

For years now I have been sending spam e-mails to my spam detector, but I keep getting the same spam over, and over, and over again.  As far as I can see, the only e-mails that go to my spam detector are the ones that I manually send there.  Does the Verizon e-mail spam detector actually function in identifying spam and interdicting it?  If so, what do I need to do to get it to work?

  • How does the Spam Detector work?

I am trying to find out the purpose of the Spam Detector to decreate the amount of junk I get.  I have activated the product and spent a good bit of time dumping unwanted mail to Spam.  Yet, even after a week, I am still getting Spam from the same sources I have previously marked as Spam.
Is the Spam Detector useful for anything?  If so, what is the key to making it a functional tool to keep my inbox clean?

I was just selecting them and pressing the SPAM button.  So essentially that just moves the mail to the Spam Detector folder.
When I select Spam Detector, I only have 2 options, 1 to turn the detector on or off and the other whether I want to save spam in the Spam Detector folder.  There are no spam filters that I see

  • Spam detector has some REAL ISSUES

I am at a total loss as to why Verizon can deliver me an email from an outside entity without any issue but when I then subsequently need to forward that email, with no modifications or additions, to my wife the outgoing mail server rejects it as spam.
I actually wonder what they base this decision on as the email in question is a reminder from my bank to us me that it is time to make a payment on our home equity line of credit.  I then wonder how many other important, to me, documents the so called spam detector is deleting on the inbound side and not bothering to notify me of
Forwarding the so called spam to '[email protected]' as Verizon suggests has no effect as it still is rejecting 4 hours later..
Is there anything I can include in my forwarded message that will indicate to the so called spam detector that the single message I am sending to a single adressee is NOT spam.

send it from outlook to www.isnotspam.com (they have an email on their site) and they analyze and tell you what is setting off red flags.   then you can adjust.  there is usually something extra that outlook is sending that is causing the redflag.  maybe a sig file or something similiar.    let us know what the results are

  • How to send emails that VZ spam detector incorrectly determines to be spam

Having had some issues having outgoing emails forwarded from my inbox being rejected as SPAM and also seeing many, many complaints about the same issue from others here with no sign of any solution forthcoming from Verizon support I did some investigation and playing around and discovered that if you open web mail and then copy and and paste the email portion of the offending email from your inbox to a new email created in web mail you can then send it to the desired recipients.
Apparently emails created in Verizon web mail do not get processed by the same flawed spam filter that is being used for emails being sent from third party applications.
Is this a design flaw or is it deliberately done so that people can work around the flawed spam detector that is being used?  If the latter could Verizon possibly document the work around rather than having people waste hours of time sending usless emails to [email protected]

  • SPAM DETECTOR NOT WORKING

For several days, I have been forwardIng 7 to 10 SPAM messages to the "SPAM NOT WORKING" email address.
I have also called a technical group at Verizon to ask what the problem is with the spam detector not working now after many years of it being okay.  The rep told me to disable and re-enable it.  I have done that 4 times....still is not catching spam mail.
Can someone give me another idea of how to stop being bombarded daily with SPAM mail that the detector isn't catching.

My email never detects spam either. I have marked many emails as spam, but I still get the same emails in my inbox over and over.

  • Disable/alter nano6 sleep settings and/or motion detector settings?

    I'll try to be brief.
I just received my nano 6 which replaces my, evidently worn out, nano 4. I use my nano specifically in my car. My nano 4 worked great in the car and generally was always "online" or usable whenever I started the car.
The new nano 6 doesn't have the same connectivity to the car as the 4, i.e. every morning I have to open the trunk to "enable/turn on" the ipod in order to use it. In the course of a day, 50% of the time I need to open the trunk to power it back up.
My belief is that my  problem w/the nano 6 is either/both:
    1. Either the sleep timeout settings have changed between (not surprisingly) between the 4 and 6 models.
    2. Maybe the motion detector/sleep feature in the  6 is hanging things up.
Either way can I can somehow alter the settings in the 6 (iTerm?) or should I just return the 6 and track down a nano 4 or 5 as a replacement.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Smartform mail format(PDF) dropped by spam detector

    Hi,
When we are firing mails from t-code CRMD_ORDER in CRM,in scenarios like sales order creation, etc.,mail is triggered as a PDF attachment to the partner's email ID .
But at present this PDF attachment is treated as SPAM by spam scan software and it's dropped by the mail server.
After some diagnosis , we found that any mail which has an attachment and no content in the body of the mail, is treated as spam and being dropped.
All the mails are generated through customized action profile.
Now we need to add some content to the body of the mail to overcome this problem.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Deb

    Hello Luiz,
actually there are only a few steps to do:
Just call transaction SCOT and doubleclick your SMTP node. Click on the "set"-Button behind the supported address type "internet". Choose "PDF" as output format for SAPforms.
By the way. You can also generate a PDF-File from a Spool with report RSTXPDFT4.
I hope this will help you.
    Bye
    Frank

  • Spam Filter Settings or Service/Software?

Anybody know of a good source/url or methodology for addressing spam?
I have a gmail account that is getting slammed, an older website address that is getting inundated and I have a new blog email address that is picking up a lot of traffic.
Do I address this on the ISP/Gmail end or can I tackle it all in Mail? Is there a good Application/Service for this?
    Thanks.

    Hi Thomas.
In the case of my internet service provider (my web site email) i set this with their interface. i think with gmail there was a way to get in and also set these.
i have not yet gone the route where everyone has to manually add their name to a subscription database because at one point I used such a service and they set it up circularly so that mail was being forwarded to a non-existent account (which means that I did not get it). that said I may go this route again simply to get rid of all the extraneous stuff that still gets through...

  • Can't turn on Spam Filter

I have been trying to turn on the spam filter in my webmail (including "Save spam in the Spam Detector folder") but keep getting a message "Unable to update Spam Detector Settings."  Is this a known problem that Verizon is working on?

    Just did the following.
    In Email:  Settings>>Email Settings>>Spam Detector
    Screen shows following:
Spam Detector is currently activated  ON
    Spam Detector:  On
Spam Filtering:   Save Spam in the Spam Detector Folder
My Browser is Google Chrome Ver 41.0.2272.89 m
As a test I moved several emails from the Inbox  by clicking on SPAM tab...They went into Spam Detector Folder

  • Verizon spam filter not working---how can I stop the massive influx of SPAM?

For more than 5 months I have tolerated the massive influx of Spam from my emial account.  I check my spam filter settings, my outlook junk mail settings, and even resorted to deleting spam one by one.  There has to be some solution to stopping this push of junk mail from the server to my inbox.
    Any ideas and suggestions?

  • Mark As Spam is Useless

I continously mark email as SPAM thinking that would send a clue to the IT folks at Verizon that certain emails are SPAM.
Alas!  Silly me!  I have read this forum and found out that I have to actually forward the SPAM emails to a separate email address so that Verison can update their filters.
Now let me see...EarthLink & GMail do not stuff my inbox with SPAM, but Verison does....ummm.  Maybe Verizon should purchase the same SPAM filters used by those 2 vendors and stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

We have some updated information about the spam dectector tool, from our email product manager:

  • Can't stop the email spam

Anyone know how to stop junk email from coming into Apple mail?  On my Windows computer, spam doesn't come through on Outlook. Verizon email settings show spam detector is on and emails are deleted. But that doesn't solve the problem on my iPad and iPhone, I can't stop the constant stream of spam email. Any ideas?

The Yahoo mail app remembers spam when it comes up again if you mark it with the Yahoo Mail app.
If you use Gmail or Yahoo mail app, they each have an icon to label emails as spam.   Yahoo uses a shield icon.
if you use the stock app, tap the file folder and send to junk.   In settings app, under mail, make sure it is set to "send spam to JUNK"
