Spam e-mails from my BT Address

Someone has sent out a Spam e-mails from my btopenworld e-mail address asking for money.
One of these e-mails bounced back to me. This has the full details of its route.
Who should I send it to so it can be traced and the person who sent this stopped ?

There are loads of threads on this forum about this, there is nothing you can do about it, once someone has your e-mail address.

  • OSX Lion Mail Server Junk Mail Filter blocks incoming mail from any Yahoo address

I have yet to be able to use OSX Lion Mail Server's Junk Mail Filter.  I have several contacts who use (free) Yahoo Mail addresses.  Whenever I turn on Junk Mail Filter, even at the Most Cautious setting, any incoming mail from Yahoo.com addresses do not make it into my inbox.  I was told last year by an Apple Enterprise Tech Support contact that "..we're still having problems with that Junk Mail Filter, sorry, just leave it off for now.."  WTH  In the meantime, the good news is I'm not missing any incoming e-mails; but, I'm having to sort through and delete a few hundred spam messages each day.
    Suggestions?  Thanks in advance

I agree with the points made by Strontium90. If you have any PCs then Apple's mail/contacts/calendar software is a poor choice. Kerio Connect as a mail/contacts/calendar server would not only support Macs but would also do a good job supporting PCs running Outlook.
If you are going to become a pure Apple site, then you could use just the Apple software and this would be cheaper than using Kerio. For 30 users this might be a suitable solution, however even in a pure Apple environment many people prefer Kerio. For example I find Kerio much more pleasent when dealing with email addresses across multiple domains, email aliases, email group addresses, and so on. Kerio also has built-in email archiving, that is keeping a record of all emails. Kerio also provides a web-browser client for accessing email, calendar and contacts. It is worth noting that as standard Mountain Lion Server no longer includes a webmail feature. While I personally find the Kerio webclient rather ugly it does work.
There are some annoyances I have with Kerio, firstly they have always charged a 'maintenance' fee for their software. This provided access to software updates, and in the past also provided access to Kerio technical support. Unfortunately they now only let you make two (2) support cases per year for that cost, and you now have to pay extra for any more cases. Also while they added support for EWS (Exchange Web Service) to allow using Outlook 2011 for Mac as a supported email client, they did a poor job of this so that it does not work properly with any other EWS compatible client. This means it will not work in EWS mode with Apple Mail, nor with Outlook for Windows. While there are other ways to connect these other clients, this seems a foolish move and there have been plenty of requests to fix this.
Apple's Mail client uses EWS to connect to a 'real' MS Exhange server.

  • I want to change my apple id primary e-mail from a .msn address to a .gmail address. The problem is that currently my .gmail address is my cover address and I cannot figure out how to remove and replace my gmail recovery address.

I want to change my apple id primary e-mail from a .msn address to a .gmail address. The problem is that currently my .gmail address is my recovery address; I cannot figure out how to remove and replace my gmail recovery address with a new e-mail address.  I want to do this because I no longer use my .msn address.

You should be able to change your rescue address by going to My Apple ID, signing in to manage your ID, then selecting the the Password and Security section, and answering the two security questions.  If you have trouble with this, contact the Apple account security team for your country to verify your identity and ask for assistance: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security.  If your country isn't listed, contact iTunes store support by filling out this form: https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • IPhone 3G iOS4: Sending mails from an external address

    Hi!
Did anyone know if it is possible to send mails from an external address with the iPhone using MobileMe?
This was for me the most important feature Apple introduced with the last MobileMe update and it is working fine online and with Mail.app. But it seems not to work with the iPhone.
You can choose from your aliases when you write a mail but not the external address.
Is it not working with older iPhones or is it not working in general? In general would be a major drawback!
    Regards, Stefan

You need to go to mail settings, open any account, then tap on SMTP. The gmail outgoing server is probably still in the server list, so delete it.
Also, you need to reboot after any email account changes. Hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears.

  • Mail from one email address won't download

Emails from one particular email address won't download into Mail for my [email protected] account. Email from everyone else comes in fine. I can see his mail in webmail and on my iPhone, but not in Mail. It comes through to my yahoo address but not my main address. Here are the headers from one of his emails, hopefully someone will have an idea how to fix this.
    Thanks!!

    Paula,
I sent two different photos. The same photo has been placed in both boxes.
    Ray

It's not the images that aren't downloading, it's the entire email. His email just doesn't show up in Mail, like it was never sent at all.
I access [email protected] through Mail app.
Not sure about winmail.dat... and not sure what program he uses to send mail.
Some of his mail gets through, some doesn't. Doesn't seem to be any reason. It's not always emails with attachments that don't get through. Sometimes it's just a plain text email that doesn't get through.
    Thanks,
    Paula

  • Unable to receive mail from a particular address (love is at stake!)

Okay, so for weeks my new girlfriend and I have been steadily swapping mail without problem. Then, on Sunday 5 Aug at 10pm EDT or so, mail from her personal account ([email protected]) to me ([email protected]) starts bouncing back to her as undeliverable. I don't receive any of them. She is able to mail others, however, without problem and can also mail me at my workplace (not a good solution). The mailer daemon keeps telling her that it continues to try to send it but after xx.xx hours has been unsuccessful. She can receive mine fine.
She has asked comcast support for help. Their best theory after examining the history is that icloud has blacklisted her address, perhaps for spam or a perceived threat as interpreted by the icloud security system. This is admittedly their best guess. She did attempt to send me an email listing several links to bike tours. I never rec'd it and it appears that it was the earliest case of mail rejection.
First, can someone advise me on how to contact icloud about this issue? Secondly, does this stand to reason to those of you who understand these systems?
    Thanks for your guidance.

Okay sorry for delay. Here is a header of a message that had been blocked and it has now apparently been released as i just recieved it a bit ago. I'm imagining that's the result of a 48 hour waiting period. Hope this helps. Thanks again.

  • "spam" e-mails from my website?  Is this possible?

I published my first iweb website a few months ago for my Kennel's puppies, then e-mailed numerous friends and acqaintences of mine telling them about me website, giving them my web address, asking them to pass it on to any interested puppy buyers. I did NOT use the announce website after publishing, but instead just wrote an e-mail using my personal addresses in my yahoo mail account. Recently I received a complaint from a woman that I had sent my initial e-mail to saying she's been getting several "spam" type e-mails from my website. I can't imagine how this could be true. Does i-web even have the ability to automatically send out e-mails? How would it even get her address since I did not link my .mac mail to my yahoo mail? Is it possible that her teenage daughter, who also got the initial e-mail, went to my site and was able to request something be sent to her mother (she really wants a puppy)? I asked a few other people I had initially e-mailed and none of them received anything. This woman was quite annoyed, so I'd like to get to the bottom of this. Can someone please answer this? I can't seem to find any information about something like this anywhere.

If you want it to maybe happen some of the time, if people use the right browser and software and system, you can use JavaScript.
If you want it to happen reliably, you need server software to add the stamp before the file is served, integrated into your web site's CGI/ASP/PHP or whatever. Probably not an option with shared hosting.

  • I have 2 e-mail accounts on my Ipad, one personal and one business, how do I navigate to send e-mails from the correct address?

I have 2 e-mail acccounts on my Ipad, one personal, one business, how do I send from the correct
address? At this point it does not give me an option.

You can set a default email address here:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > underthe Mail section - Default Account.
Any email you start will use this account by default but you can change this manuall by tapping the email address in the From field. That whill bring up a dial to select the email address you want to send from.

  • Phantom Blank Spam blocking Mail from retrieving new mail in Apple Mail

Over the past few days my wife and I have both had difficulties downloading pop-3 mail from our accounts (from a UK based ISP, UKonline) onto our separate computers (Powerbook G4 and MacBook). I have no idea yet whether this is affecting other ISPs or other Mac or PC platforms or mail clients, but it is definitely affecting both of our Mail apps running under 10.4.7.
The problem seems to revolve around blank email messages being received into our respective accounts by at our ISPs mail server.
These blank messages, presumably some form of spam have no sender, no recipient, no date, no source code, no body text and no subject.
These 'phantom' blank emails appear to be the root of the problem as once they are manually removed from our server-side inbox (either through Apple Mail's 'Get Info' / 'Remove from Server' function, or via our ISPs webmail facility), the email starts picking up mail automatically again–immediately, without any other intervention other than clicking 'Get Mail'. Until they are removed, Apple Mail will NOT collect any more mail, automatically or manually through 'Get Mail'.
I have contacted my ISP and to date had no firm response from them. One of their operatives suggest I contact Apple as his Windows PC email still works and retrieves mail when these blank phantom messages reach his server-side inbox waiting to be collected.
The fact that these messages have no date means that under Mail's 'Get Info' / 'Remove from Server' facility, they always appear at the top with the CURRENT date and time when sorted by date. In this way, they are easy to spot. Also, if sorted by size, they also appear at the top because they are 0k in size. They appear to act as a blockage to receiving new mail until they are cleared.
I'd be grateful to hear if anyone else is having this problem or has found a solution to it, or indeed whether this is an ISP problem.
    With thanks
    Jamie

    Hello Jamie.
These 'phantom' blank emails appear to be the root of the problem
as once they are manually removed from our server-side inbox
(either through Apple Mail's 'Get Info' / 'Remove from Server' function,
or via our ISPs webmail facility), the email starts picking up mail
automatically again–immediately, without any other intervention
other than clicking 'Get Mail'. Until they are removed, Apple Mail
will NOT collect any more mail, automatically or manually through
    'Get Mail'.
What is your setting for removing messages from the server when downloaded by the Mail.app?
If set to right away, does this have any effect?
One of their operatives suggest I contact Apple as his Windows
PC email still works and retrieves mail when these blank
phantom messages reach his server-side inbox waiting to be collected.
Of course - especially if this operative is using Microsoft's Outlook or OE which usually don't have problems downloading anything including viruses, adware and spyware.
I'm not sure why these "Ghost" spam messages cause this problem with the Mail.app but these are obviously sent by a spammer to cause problems.
How about your ISP doing something about blocking all messages at the incoming mail server that are completely blank such as these so they don't arrive in any of their customer's Inbox mailbox at the server since these messages are intended to cause problems and are completely blank anyway? No different from any other type of spam or as messages are scanned for viruses at the server. Although Apple needs to look into this, your ISP is not completely off the hook or has no responsibility IMO.

  • Receiving wrong e-mail from a wrong address

Hey everyone is being a while I posted something or contribute something glad to be back. Just wonder if anyone out there having the same problem as I'm facing.
I'm a .Mac suscriber so I have a .Mac mail account. Dud!!!
The problem is lately I'm receiving quite a whole lot of junk mail (normally Mail or .Mac is quite good with junk); but, lately I pay close attention to all the junk that I had received over a week period and realize that I am getting mail that is not address to me.
    Explanation:
For example my e-mail address is [email protected] (this is a fake e-mail if somebody have this address I apologize).
Therefore, I'm also receiving e-mail that addresses to [email protected]
The address is not the same but very similar. I just wonder if someone out there having the same dilemma. Because I'm just about to sumit to .Mac personel about this problem.
    Thanks for the info.

If you're seeing similiar address on spam, it's likely that your email address is one of possibly many others included in the Bcc: or otherwise addressed to you and other recipients.
It's quite easy for a bulk mailer to send a message out to various names, bob_jones, bob_johnson, etc. The sender doesn't really care if the addresses are wrong or if there is no one with that account because the return address is usually spoofed.. They won't see any Message Undeliverable messages.
Bottom line, just another way for spammers to earn their living. Ignore it, and do what you can to protect your email address.

  • Sending mail from alternate email address

So i set up a dummy Yahoo mail acct that my corporate email is forwarded to. I changed the settings on yahoo to display my corporate email address as when sending mail (so when i log into yahoo mail and compose an email to John Doe, when he opens it it says it came from my corporate email address). I then added that dummy yahoo mail acct to my iphone. However, when i send mail from it on my iphone, it does not display my corporate email address to the reciepeint, it displays the actual yahoo address. how can i make the iphone send the mail the same way i send it when actually logged into yahoo on the computer? i want reciepeints to see the mail they reieve as if it came from my corporate email address. Help is GREATLY appreciated!

On your computer, this is done via webmail access with Yahoo using a browser, or with an email client such as Outlook or Outlook Express/Windows Mail on a PC, or with the Mail.app on a Mac?
If this is not done with an email client, this is why you are able to do this on your computer and not with the iPhone's Mail app, which is an email client. This is something Yahoo prevents, not Apple or the iPhone. Yahoo has an authenticated SMTP server which doesn't allow for using the SMTP server to send email with another account, or sending an email with a Yahoo account with a different email address other than the Yahoo email address to be shown as the sending email address. This is what spammers do.

  • Not receiving mails from certain email addresses

I am sending & receiving the majority or my mails without any problems but there are a few email address from which I am being sent mails that I am not receiving. They are not being notified that I am not receiving the mails either.
Could they be blocked on Mobile me? How can I unblock these addresses and retrieve the mail?
    Thanks,

Yep, that's very typcial of mail from lists...
In Outlook open the message, click on File/Properties, and you'll see a box labled "Internet Headers".  I usually copy that out and paste it to Notepad to make it easier to read...
You'll find that there are different addresses in the vairous headers.
This is NORMAL for some types of list mail.

  • How can I block spam text messages from an email address?

Twice per week I am getting spam texts in the middle of the night from a random email address, in reference to a free Target gift card. The problem is, the sender's email address is different every time. Any ideas how to make it stop??

    tikibar1 wrote:
Forward the texts to SPAM and follow the directions in the reply text that you receive from Verizon.
Or log into your on-line MyVerizon account, click on the blue More Actions under I Want To, under Safety and Security, click on the blue Block Internet Spam.  Enter the e-mail addresses, or go to the bottom and check block all.  Click the red Apply.
That was one of the first things I did when starting my current account with Verizon Wireless. I blocked all premium messages and messages from the Internet. Those blocks are still in place to this day.

  • PORT_ACCESS Configuration to accecpt inbound mail from 1 IP address

I have a inbound mail proxy that relays imbound mail to my final destination iMS5.2 mail server, for this reason I want to block all un-autheticated inbound connections to my iMS5.2 server except for the IP address of the mail proxy(s).
It seems the way to do this is through edits to the PORT_ACCESS mapping table.
    My default looks like so
    PORT_ACCESS
      *|*|*|*|* $C$|INTERNAL_IP;$3|$Y$E
      *  $YEXTERNALWhat I think will do as I require would look like this.
We do not allow users of our sub-net to send outbound mail in an unauthenticated manner, so I think these rules will not affect authenticated users.
    PORT_ACCESS
      *|*|*|*|* $C$|INTERNAL_IP;$3|$Y$E
      TCP|*|25|212.115.144.233|*   $Y
      TCP|*|25|*|*              $N500$ Not$ Inbound$ MX.
! *  $YEXTERNAL Since the last rule of the origional enabled all inbound connections, the dropping of the line with the additional 2 filtering linnes should do what I want.
Thou I'm not quite sure about the meaning of the $YEXTERNAL key word line, this seems to accept from all "*" sources (accept as designated by the "$Y"), as to the meaning of the terminating "EXTERNAL" Keyword, I'm not sure of the meaning.
    -Lee

I would set up a test box, and test. The documentation for port access is somewhat foggy to me, too . . .

I am so cross.  My husband and I have used Blackberries for years and never had this problem before.  Last month, both our phones were stolen, so we replaced them with Curve 9360s.  He and I share a Yahoo e-mail account address.  However, on these new devices, we are not allowed to both use the address.  I can register the address onto my phone but as soon as I do so with his, the service vanishes from mine and vice versa. I have tried using the same Blackberry ID for both; I have tried setting up different IDs on each phone.  Doesn't work.  It's having the same e-address that is the sticking point.  I'm really really hacked off about this as we both rely on our phones for on-the-go e-mailing and it would seem we have just wasted £200 on phones that provide a lesser service than the old models we were using before.

That certainly doesn't sound right. I've used the same email account on two different BlackBerrys.
You said you tried it, but two different BBIDs on the different devices should do it.
