Spam Email from me

People in my outlook address book are receiving spam e-mail from me. How do I stop this?

Are you using a free e-mail account with Microsoft Outlook, such as Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo! Mail?
If you are using Microsoft Outlook on a PC, I would recommend scanning your computer for viruses, followed by changing the password for your e-mail account. It's possible that someone may have gained access to your e-mail account or the password to your e-mail account, possibly through a phishing attack.
If you are using Microsoft Outlook on a Mac, I would simply recommend changing your password. There are no viruses on the Mac which can send out mail to your entire address book.
Hope that helps, let us know if the situation improves after performing these tasks. Have a great day.

  • Spam email from my Address Book

Every day I get spam emails from names that are in my address book. I notice this because the names that pop up are not always common, often unique names of folks I have worked with recently.
It's as if someone hijacked or monitors my email. This occurs on more on my non.mac email address.
    Possible? Thanks!

Do you publish a weblog or any other online forum where you might reveal your email address and those of your acquaintances?

  • Reporting spam emails from Apple

    Hi
I have been receiving spam emails from someone who would like me to believe they are from Apple. Clearly not as they're full of spelling mistakes, plus they have ended up in my Spam folder.
I would like to inform Apple but am struggling to find relevant contact details.
Any suggestions who I should contact / how to deal with this?
    Thanks, Tanya

  • I am receiving spam emails from my own email address and need to put a stop to it asap please.

Hi as per above, for the last week I have been receiving spam emails from my own email address. Can anyone help me please to put a stop to this and also perhaps explain how it happened? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

'''but not sure what you mean when you say I must not store it on my computer?'''
I was just thinking that if someone or some software agent is accessing your computer then they also have access to saved passwords if for instance it is webmail and the password is stored on Firefox, or if you store logins and passwords in any other utility.
'''I have asked my service provider again for help - waiting to hear from them. I don't store passwords in any other utility that I know of? Are passwords stored automatically somewhere on computers?'''
An obvious thing to do is also make sure you log out of email and do not leave yourself logged in or use the remember me option.
'''Yes, thank you, I always log out and never use the remember me option'''
'''Thank you for your input. I did report this to my service provider and they assured me that no one is accessing my account?
I wonder what they meant by that
possibly that the account has been accessed only from your computer and the same IP Address has been shown
Maybe just that the mail used your login and password.
'''I have asked them to verify the above - thank you. :)'''
What are the emails ? do they make sense, are they also sent to others ? and of course is it likely anyone else is using your computer and sending these emails.
'''The emails make some sort of sense but not much. As far as I know I am the only one receiving them but just to be safe I deleted my Address Book. No one else has access to my computer - I am the only one who uses it. :(('''
it is probably worth contacting them again, give a couple of examples of the emails you are referring to and tell them that you yourself did not type those emails. Ask if they can explain how this may have happened.
'''Done and awaiting their response. :) Thank you'''
As a general security measure it is also good practice
to use a limited user account for day to day work not an admin account
    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/windows_security_whynot_admin.mspx
to set passwords up to login to your computer
'''what is a limited user account? Also, I am now busy adding a password to my computer and making all files private through User Accounts. Would that help do you think?'''
    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/usercpl_create_password.mspx
(IIRC at one time by default XP setup an Administration account with a nul default password, an F8 reboot would get you in by just using the return key when the password prompt showed ) P.S. as mentioned method 3 in this article http://www.slideshare.net/passexpert/six-methods-to-crack-windows-admin-password-remove-unknown-windows-admin-password. Rather a serious security hole.
'''"oooh, sorry, the above paragraph is way past my limited knowledge? Will read the article again and get back to you. Thank you so much for your help so far. :)'''

  • Spam email from Skype?

I am a long-time Skype user. Yesterday I started receiving email from what appears to be Skype from its [email protected] address. The email is fishy for several reasons: It is a welcome email addressed to Skype user "abdullah434771" but that is not my Skype username. The email is a welcome email despite the fact that I have been on Skype for ages. The email is in German (titled "Sagen Sie Hallo zur wundervollen Welt von Skype") but I do not speak German and have never listed it in any preferences. Lastly, it is coming to a legitmate gmail address of mine that is not the main email address linked to my Skype account. I have recevied this message twice now.
I am posting this here because there is clearly something wrong, even though the message visually appears to be a genuine Skype email. I do not want to keep hitting spam in my gmail settings as I did the first time as I do not want my gmail to start treating emails from Skype as spam. Has someone erroneously put my email as their own? What should I do?
    Cheers,
    Reza

Any person can create a Skype account and register any email address (valid or not) in it.  I think this is one weakness of the Skype registration system.  Moreover, you may need to report this to Skype Support and request to unlink that unknown account from your email address.

  • SPAM/EMAIL from own account

I have been receiving email from my own account (i.e. sending account is the same as the receiving
account). A Verizon DSL tech suggested I change my password; which I've done and I'm still getting email from my
self. This worked about as good as the word wrap on this forum. Anyone having the same problem????

I get the same thing on my DSL account. They are spoofing are own account name so it looks like we are sending e-mail to ourselves. I woundn't worry to much about it.

  • Spam email from faux Apple

Sorry, this is in the wrong section but I found none that made sense for my issue.
I've been recieving emails from apple... well actually they are apparently coming from my own email address (gmail account). But they are "from" apple explaining that someone is trying to purchase World War Z from Switzerland, in french. It provides links to change my password and askes for credit card information... blah blah blah, obviously fake. Because it's coming from my address I have no clue how to deal with it? I do send myself emails once in a while from work to home or wtv so I'd rather not block my own email... Anyways, any ideas of what I can do to provent this from happening? I've had 5 of them since the 24th of December.
    Thanks,
    Notes...
I see the emails in the mail.app as well as on gmail.com
They show up in my sent folder in both mail and on gmail

  • Keep getting spam email from Apple

So far 7 times I get an email about my iCloud is almost full. There is no unsubscribe option at the bottom of the message.

    Hey RavensGate,
I can understand the constant emails can be frustrating. If you think that your storage is getting full, take a look at the first article to help curb that back. If all looks good and you are not even close to being full, check where the email came from to actually see if it came from Apple. To inspect that, look to the second article for assistance.

  • Accidentally opened spam email from Dropbox

I accidently opened an email link to Dropbox.com that was apparently spam.  Have I compromised my iPad 2 (iOS 8.1,0.1)?  If so, what do I do?

Did you provide/input  any passwords?  If so, change those passwords immediately.  Otherwise, you should be fine.  Delete the email & empty the trash.
Also open Settings->Safari->Clear History & Website Data.

  • Is there a spam email from Whats App?

Anyone having a problem with their email/phone/passwords?

There are no reports on the WhatsApp site regarding any issues. If this was widespread news would be popping up on twitter and other social sites. What is your specific issue?

  • More Spam emails being sent from My Account again?

Despite changing my password and security several times from a clean PC, delteing all emails from my BT account regularly including sent items and spam folders and trash folders.
At least a dozen or more friends and collages are still getting regular spam emails from my account.   I do not store any contacts in the webbased interface and don't even use the account these days so I "presume" that there is nothing I can do my end to stop theses emails being sent out from "somebody else".
    Any suggestions welcome.
    DomB
(One of many reasons I left BT).

Your account was probably hacked sometime back along with many others and your contact list will have been harvested by spammers. The list is now available to the spammers to use at any time they wish.
When they send spam to your contacts they are not sending them from your email account but rather they have spoofed your email address to make it appear it is from your account so that it fools your contacts into opening the spam.
What you need to do is create a new email address, use one of your sub-accounts and then tell all your contacts that your "old" email address has been compromised and that they should treat any emails from it as spam and  delete them without opening them.
Once you have done that, if you still have a BT account, you can then change your "New" email address to become your BTID and primary email account by logging into your MyBT and going to My Profie and changing the contact email address and username to your "new" email address.
See link about spoofed emails addresses.

  • HT4899 stopping spam emails to my contacts

can anyone attest: by using an iCloud email account, that it STOPs spam email from being sent to your contacts?
    ils

Please explain in more detail what you want to know. The mere possession and use of an iCloud email account has no effect on what sort of email third parties might send to people who conicidentally happen to be in your contacts.

  • Block spam emails

How do I block spam emails from getting into my received emails?

The iPad itself cannot do it.  It must be done at the server, i.e. by your email provider.

  • I have been into my yahoo email on my iphone 4 and in spam inbox i received email from company posing as "Nacha"

I have just recently been into my yahoo on my iphone 4 and in my spam inbox there was a email from a company posing as "Nacha".It stated a transaction i recently had done has been cancelled. There was a link to click on.I do receive alot of spam emails some that i reconise and i am nieve and think spam emails like this wont come to me and i do alot of transactions online.I did click on the link! It took me to a blank white page on in top left hand corner did say the page cannot be found and there was no info asking me to put in any details i automatically deleted the email,I am now worried that because i have clicked on the link could my iphone now be compromised and if i even go onto my ebay app for example and put in my passwords could all my passwords and personal data now be leaked?? Im really worried as i do want to use my iphone for online transactions but dont know wether im safe now! I have rung my mobile provided and they said that its more than likely everything will be ok as i did click on the link but entered no details and it was a blank page but i have read on google that there can be fake blank pages and that scams can secretly collect data just by a click of a link!!!
    could anybody help really worried

I wouldn't worry.  Assuming you haven't hacked the phone you cannot have installed any viruses or spyware just by clicking a link in an email.  Sounds like the page you accessed could not be read on the phone anyway, or it was just a dead link.
