Spam email (gmail) disappeared as I clicked on it

So first off, I know, don't click on spam.
I'm using Acompli on my iPhone 6. I saw a spam message (gmail account) and I click on it to then move it to the spam folder. Only when I clicked on it, it simply disappeared. It's not in spam, it's not in my All Mail tab, it just vanished.
Anyone have any thoughts? Did it launch some flaky trojan? Should I wipe my phone?
Thanks!

I agree with Nik that this question is best answered by Acompli, but it is possible that the app had not yet finished syncing your emails. Those emails flagged as possible spam are typically moved automatically to trash or spam folders and in some cases, if they contain an identified virus, are deleted by the email provider. It could be that email fell into that third category, had not yet been reflected in your app, and was simply coincidence that it was moved or deleted as you were tapping it.
Just a thought.

  • Hovering over spam emails has disappeared, Why?

Until recently (in Firefox 3.6.8) I was able to hover over Email and Spam emails to see whose address extension actually sent it to me. This was important because of so many fraudulent emails everyday in my Inbox!
Now I don't see that function and would appreciate knowing why you discontinued it. It is still available in IE, should I switch back to them?

  • Email attachments disappearing / not loading

Many of my co-workers are experiencing this issue (along with me) that email attachments disappear after you click on the 'download full attachment' button in the email.  This happens on iphone as well as ipads.  Once the attachment disappears, you can't ever get it to show up again in the email on the device.   How do we fix this?

Check the image exceptions: Tools > Options > Content: Load Images: Exceptions - See [[Options window - Content panel]]
A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (''Site Identification'' icon) on the left side of the location bar and click the "More Information" button.
This will open the Security tab of the ''Page Info'' window (also accessible via Tools > Page Info).
Go to the ''Media'' tab of that Page Info window.
Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow.
If an image is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box ''Block Images from...'' then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • How to I undo what was done after clicking on a link from a spammed email?

    Hello...
I am usually Never one to click on any suspicious emails, let alone links within the emails, but I recieved an email from my Uncle that looked slightly suspicious, but I let myself click on the link within it. It turned out to be a spammed email with a BS link from "msnbc" reharding jobs. What happened when I clicked that spammed link, and what can I do to undo what was done? I am terrified that I unintentionally installed something on my Mac Air through clicking on this link. What do I need to do to erase what was do, and how to I find out what was done? Thank you very much for your help. I greatly appreciate any advice.

Without knowing what webpage the link opened and what you did after you opened it, it is impossible to be 100% certain of anything that may have resulted from that. An email itself cannot install anything. If the webpage did not result in any unusual activity, and you did not deliberately install or supply any personal information then you have no cause for concern.
"Unusual activity" would include symptoms such as a webpage you cannot close or navigate away from, and that would be a mere nuisance that is easily solved. If Safari or the browser you used is behaving normally then rest easy.
Most of these spam emails do nothing but bombard you with ads or attempt to install a browser "toolbar" that does the same. Malicious emails include phishing scams and most of them are laughable (but they are getting better). Others carry Windows malware that cannot affect your Mac.
To edit your profile click on your name at the top of this page (where it says Welcome, saratee14), scroll down to the heading My Products, click edit, and on the page that follows select your version of OS X from the dropdown menu. The only reason I questioned this was to confirm you have been updating OS X.

  • Click on mail-mail opens and all emails there disappear

I know that there are emails on my iphone 4.
I click on mail, mail opens and all emails there disappear.

Is the account an Exchange account, a MobileMe account, or a Yahoo account that was created on the iPhone with the Yahoo account preset? If not, the account does not support Push access for received messages. Fetch only - automatically or manually.
If an account that supports Push access for received messages, who is the email account provider for the account? More than likely the problem lies there.
If the account does not support Push access for received messages - Fetch only, automatically or manually, try deleting and recreating the account on your iPhone.

  • Pasted image into gmail disappears when using Safari

Pasted image into gmail disappears when using Safari
I recently upgraded to Mavericks (after having a lot of seemingly unrelated trouble with my Macbook Pro (early 2011))
Since then, when I create a new message in gmail, and paste in a screen shot (captured with command-control-shift-4), the image shows up nicely.  But after I hit send, the image disappears.  It doesn't show up to the recipient, and when I look at my sent mail, it doesn't show up there either.  There's nothing, no icon showing where the image should be, just empty space in the message.  This seems to happen in Safari, but seems to works fine when creating the message in Chrome.  (please, restrain yourself from telling me "Duh.  Use Chrome." I know it's tempting, but my computer has some issues and Chrome doesn't always work.)  If I create the same sort of message in Chrome, and then go to Safari gmail, I can see the image just fine.  So it appears to be something about keeping the image attached to the content of the message while sending (vs. a viewing problem).
I know when Mavericks was installed, I had to install something in Safari for Adobe docs to show up again.  Is there something I need to install so that images will stay attached to the content of gmail messages again?
    Thanks

After you click Download (the attachment) from your Safari menu bar click Window / Downloads.
Right or control click the file in the Downloads window then click: Show in Finder
I'm not sure if you can designate another folder for downloading web based attachments to, however, instead of accessing your Gmail
account using Safari, you can set up the Gmail account from the Mail app on your hard drive. Mail preferences allow you to choose the
folder you want to use for downloaded files.
    To add an account:
Choose File > Add Account or click the Add button in the Accounts pane of Mail preferences.
Enter information about the user.Mail searches for the information it needs to finish setting up your account. If it can’t find the information, continue to the next step.
Enter information about the incoming and outgoing mail servers, review the account summary, and then click Create. For information about options, click the Help button (looks like a question mark). If you don’t want the account to be active immediately, deselect the “Take account online” checkbox. You can take the account online later.
If you aren’t sure about the information to enter, contact your email service provider before you begin. When you talk with your provider, you can use the Mail settings “cheat sheet” available using the link below to record settings you might need to set up an account. If you’re switching from another application to Mail, use the cheat sheet to record information for each account you want to switch.

  • My Yahoo emails keep disappearing on my iMac.

My Yahoo emails keep disappearing on my iMac. I see them one second then POOF! there gone. Sometimes I'll see the number count of unread emails but no emails are displayed (See below). I see them on iPhone and iPad no with no problems. I do use Spamarrest as a go between to help filter out spam that YAHOO SPAM FILTERS IS SUPPOSED TO DO,  but I dont think thats the problem since my iPhone & iPad are working fine. I think it is with the iMac but not sure what else to do. I have deleted the account and created a new one, sycronized, took it offline and then back again only to see that the problem is there again. The emails will randomly show up but as soon as I click away and then back again "POOF" they are gone or slipped on their invisability cloak.  This is totally weird.

Have the same problem. Have seen quite a few of my yahoo mails disappear & not reappear. Am unable to see them even in my yahoomail inbox or in the sent mail folders. Am worried if my mail account is hacked. Further, there are sounds that I keep hearing every now & then which seems like someone in the background is snooping in & checking items on my Mac.

  • Junk and Trash mailboxes from Gmail disappeared on Mac Mail--any ideas?

Junk and Trash mailboxes from Gmail disappeared on Mac Mail--any ideas?
Under Mailboxes in Mac Mail, I used to see Inbox (along with sub-Inboxes for each account, all of which are still there), VIPs (still there), Sent (still there), Drafts, Junk and Trash, all of which are missing, without me making ANY changes anywhere, either on Mac Mail or Gmail.
Any ideas ... or other people experiencing same issue?  (Happened in my wife's account and I just assumed the kids deleted something, but then I went to my account where the kids never are and I found the same issue.)

Do you mean that they are not listed under Gmail's header at the bottom of the Mailbox List or that they don't exist in the Unified Mailboxes at the top?
If they are not in the unified mailboxes, check down under Gmail and vice versa. If they are at the bottom under Gmail, select each separately and go to the Use Mailbox for command in the Mailbox menu. Set each one to what they are supposed to be, ie Trash, Junk, Sent, Drafts.
If they don't appear anywhere, log into Google's email website, go to Settings, click on the Labels tab and make sure those mailboxes are set to show in IMAP.
Finally, if they are IMAP accounts, just delete the accounts from Mail then re-add them. If you have a lot of email, it will take a while to synchronize, but it should recover those foldrs. If you are using POP, I'm not exactly sure how to save the old email, but I would assume Google is already doing that for you.

  • Gmail disappeared - Setup now reads Update Failed

    Hello
    Smartphone: BB Bold 9900
    OS: 7.1
A week ago my gmail disappeared from my BB home page. I go to the Setup wizard and try to setup a new account, but it only displays the user name and password fields. I enter the correct data for both, and get an UPDATE FAILED message.
I'vre tried everything from disabling the 2 step verification on google to the /integrate and /UnlockCaptcha through the browser. Nothing works. Cant even configure another account (example hotmail) The only thing that works is setting an email on blackberry servers.
    can anyone help???

    2.    In the Setup homescreen, navigate and click on the Email Accounts icon.
    3.    In the Email Accounts selection screen, select Internet Mail Account.

    5.    On the main screen, click Menu button and select Service Books, then click on Send Service Books to send Service Books to BlackBerry smartphone."
The only Internet mail account i have is the serviceprovider.blackberry, since my gmail disappeared. Still I manage to SEND SERVICE BOOKS, but assume those are for the bb account.
If I remember correctly, it does not matter...when you send Service Books, it sends them all (not just for email, btw...SBs are necessary for all BB proprietary services, of which email is only one). The key part is the SB deletion, so that it doesn't "not try" to send if they are already there...deleting the SBs ensures that new SBs will be sent no matter what.

I insert the user and pass, and get UPDATE FAILED.
Is there something you do between "Add email" and "insert my gmail credentials"? Normally, you would have been presented with a screen for selecting Personal/Internet email versus Enterprise. So, I will assume you went through that screen as well (please understand that I'm not trying to be picky...it's just that I can't see you nor your device, and need clarity of understanding to be sure I don't guide you in a wrong direction).
When the process I've given you fails, another way to try is via your BB Browser, going to www.blackberry.com/integrate and trying to integrate the email account that way. Another still is figuring out if your carrier has a BIS interface on the web, and accessing that via PC/browser, and attempting to integrate the account. And, as already stated, the last resort is to contact your mobile service provider for formal support...it is possible that something about your account (from them) is messed up, and they need to do something to clear it, but only they have access to their systems on which to do so.
Good luck and let us know!

  • IPhone deletes new emails as soon as I click on them

Lately when I've been receiving new emails, as soon as I click on them the iPhone immediately deleted it and opens a prior email instead. The new email that it just deleted is not in my junk or trash folders and when I log into my email account in my computer it is nowhere to be foun as well. Also, when I do a search in my email for certain emails, the email I'm looking for will show up for a brief second and then disappear. Seperate issue but allllmost as irritating as the fact that some of my emails are deleted for no reason!

hello dariaa, unfortunately this sounds like a problem with adware/malware that is active on your system. please perform all these steps:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    # finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

  • I recently changed from a Mac Pro to an iMac. A large chunk of emails have disappeared. Time Machine is no help. Any ideas as to how I can get them back?

I recently changed from a Mac Pro to an iMac. Despite using Migration Assistant, a large chunk of my recent emails and nearly all of my wife's emails have disappeared in transit. Strangely, emails from my distant past are still there. Time Machine is no help; the messages may be on my backup disc but they're behind an invisible  icon. Any ideas as to how I can get them back?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • I opened a spam email how do i know if it has caused a problem

I opened a spam email and before i could delete it it went.  Also,
when i had a financial page open on the internet, it looked like asomeone was trying to read it with a magnifying glass??

I would consider your SIN stolen. See this page:  http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/lost/lost.shtml . One thing mentioned is that you should have your credit record flagged as at risk for fraudulent activity - do that tomorrow.
Not knowing exactly what happened, I would bring up another web browser, and see if you get the same reaction on the bank web site. If you use Safari, you might choose one of these three (not listed in any particular order):
    chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome
    firefox: http://www.firefox.com
    opera: http://www.opera.com
If you don't get the same large circle whipping around, then assume that your other browser is compromised, and don't use it. Any of the web browsers above can bring bookmarks over, but don't bring cookies or anything else over. If in doubt, don't bring anything from the previous web browser.
If you get the same odd behavior on the web site, please post back.
Also, go into system preferences, click security, then the firewall tab, and ensure the firewall is on. Then click advanced, and make sure that stealth mode is checked.

Having upgraded to 10.8 some emails are disappearing before I can read them.
They are present for about a second, display as notified, but are not going to junk or Trash.
The problem doesn't affect all emails and seems to be restricted to some senders.

What ype of account is this (IMAP / POP)?
Perhaps it's setup on another system (computer, mobile, etc.) and downloading there, while removing from the server. You may also have email rules moving it automatically or marking as SPAM.
Changing your password may seem drastic but will ensure your current setup is the only one with access to downloading/archival of the email, and you can then eliminate other possibilities as mentioned above.
