SPAM filter setting for CRES secure e-mail

I am using Ironport strictly as an outgoing e-mail encryption engine. We use a different incoming spam filter (Barracuda). I would like to be able to go to the CRES site and send an encrypted message to our internal domain so users can establish their CRES credentials. However, the anti-spoofing rules on the Barracuda block the incoming mail because the domain it was from is our internal domain. I have whitelisted the mx-res.cisco.com address, 216.206.186.134, but I am still receiving block messages like below (I removed the actual e-mail address):
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: Test 1
Sent: 10/15/2009 7:36 AM
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
(removed) on 10/15/2009 7:36 AM
The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator.
mx1.res.cisco.com #5.0.0 smtp; 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'Blocked\x00\x006' (delivery attempts: 0)
First of all, are there other IP addresses I should be whitelisting for Cisco RES outbound e-mail mail servers? What else do I need to do? I don't want to turn of the anti-spoofing, due to the spam we would receive.

With the recent CRES upgrade IP address range used for mail delivery has changed. Please refer the below posting.

  • SPAM Filter Issues for Email

I don't understand how I can continue to get 20+ SPAM emails a day that the filter does not catch.  I even login and tag them as SPAM per the instructions.  I even forward the emails to "report SPAM" email alias, yet they keep on coming...same ones, over and over.  I actually forwarded my verizon email to a live.com email address for about a week and it caught EVERY SPAM email that verizon didn't.  Can ANYONE give me some advice on how to fix this issue?  I want to keep my email address @ Verizon but I'm close to bailing on it....thanks in advance for any help!

there is no reason to drop the VZ email address. I recently changed to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and it does a good job of spam filtering with the verizon account.. Best part it is free & often updated. It is very easy to setup and has many more useful features than verizon's mail. Good luck

  • Need help with Exchange 2010 Spam filter setting

    Hello,
In Exchange 2010 there is built-in anti spam setting as well as Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server. But this doesn't give privileges to the end user who could access it using any web URL where they could set whitelist/blacklist etc.
Is there any product in Forefront which we can use for such purpose ?
Also in Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server if Content Filtering is enable then it reject all emails which have html tag, even if sender have html base signature. This is really confusing any solution for this problem too ?
    thanks

    Hello,
In my case, I have mostly seen FPE reject messages as spam when there is  alink to say "click here to access <bank web site> and the underlying link is actually to an IP address or to another site that does not match what the link claims to be.
We have also seen FPE reject messages with an image that is a clickable link.

  • Horrible, irresponsible default setting for Thunderbird re: deleting mail from POP server

Yesterday I downloaded and booted an ISO of Linux Mint 16 because I was curious about the current state of Linux and whether it would make sense to finally switch from Windows. The OS booted and ran without any major issues and seemed generally well-polished.
Then I ran Thunderbird and did a quick setup of my POP3 e-mail account (provided by GoDaddy) using the default configuration, which I assumed would be appropriately configured for someone who wanted to give Thunderbird a test-run. I waited a few minutes while Thunderbird downloaded all the e-mail messages from GoDaddy's server and then I spent some time poking around with the program. Seemed fine.
Unfortunately, I did not realize until after rebooting my system into Windows that Thunderbird was configured by default to delete all my e-mail messages from the server upon download, and I was shocked to find that I could no longer access my old messages via my Android phone. That's several months worth of important e-mails that Thunderbird unceremoniously wiped from my mail server without so much as a warning.
This is a horribly irresponsible way to configure Thunderbird's default settings and I'm sure I'm not the only person who has gotten burned in this manner. Needless to say it has soured me not just on Thunderbird but on Linux in general as a desktop OS. As an attorney I frequently need to review previously-read e-mail messages in my account and your mail client's default settings have caused me a major inconvenience. I strongly suggest that you alter Thunderbird's default configuration to leave downloaded messages on the server in order to avoid upsetting users in the future.

Thank you for your suggestions, but I had booted Mint directly from the DVD and had not installed it. I was simply testing it out. Thunderbird was remarkably easy to configure - I just gave it my e-mail address, name, and password and it figured out the rest. But nowhere did it indicate that it would remove downloaded messages from my mail server by default, hence my shock and dismay.
I sincerely hope that somebody within Mozilla will acknowledge that this is a problem and change the default settings.

  • How do i find out the answers i set for security questions?

I cannot remember the answers i set for my security questions. Just need to know how i can find them out??

The only way to recover from this is to reset your password using iForgot:
    https://iforgot.apple.com/
It will send a temporary password to the email account associated with your Apple ID. Make sure it is an account that you can still access.
The email is sent immediately. If you do not receive it immediately, check your spam folder or email service's Trash.

  • SPAM filter problems

All of a sudden, I'm getting tons of SPAM. It is coming on both my ISP mail account and my .mac account. I have set my preferences to filter all mail where the sender is not in my address book. I receive it anyway.
What's even more frustrating is that some mail where the sender IS in my address book (my daughter!) is being marked as SPAM by my filters. Huh?
I have tried checking the "trust my ISP" box and then I wasn't receiving about half my mail so I have now unchecked that box.
    Any ideas?

Sounds like you have become the victim of what is called a dictionary attack by a spammer or spammers who use an automated program that guesses at email addresses with a particular domain.
The default junk mail rules under the Advanced tab are set up as follows:
If ALL of the following conditions are met:
Sender is not in my Address Book
Sender is not in my Previous Recipients
Message is not addresses to my Full Name
(and if) Message is Junk Mail - determined by the junk mail filter's "learned" settings by you marking a message as junk or not junk,
    Move message to mailbox Junk.
Even if you have filter all mail where the sender is not in your Address Book, the message must still go thru the filter which does not mean the message will be automatically marked as junk.
Since your daughter's email address should be exempt from any junk mail filtering, something is wrong so I suggest doing the following first.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail and disable Junk Mail filtering.
Quit and re-launch the Mail.app and re-enable Junk Mail filtering.
IMO, I wouldn't adjust, add to or remove any of the default Junk Mail rules via the Advanced selection and allow the filter to do its thing. If disabling and re-enabling the Junk Mail filter does not resolve the problem, I suggest using the Reset feature which will reset the Junk Mail "learned" settings and you can keep Junk Mail set to automatic when doing so.
Regarding having problems with "Trust junk mail headers set by my ISP" selected, this indicates the spam filter at your ISP's incoming mail server is marking these received messages as spam which is called a false positive since the messages are valid.
I've never experienced any problems having this selected but if a valid message is marked as junk when received because of this, marking the message as Not Junk and moving it from the account's Junk Mailbox to the account's Inbox mailbox should prevent this from occurring again but it make take several "Not Junk" processes to "train" the filter.

  • Spam engine to help Spamassasin in SL Mail Server

    Hello folks,
I'd like to know if you can recommend a good spam engine/app to help spamassasin that's built-in Snow Leopard Mail Server.
What do you network admins use against spam? Do you rely only on Spamassasin?
    Thanks,
    Andrei D.

SpamAssassin/amavisd works fine and can block spam effectively. It will however need some under the hood tuning as the Server Admin settings for it are very limited.
For a description of the available parameters, see here:
    http://www200.pair.com/mecham/spam/amavisd-settings.html
It is also important to improve on the Postfix configuration as it makes sense to block as much spam as possible before it even hits the spam filter. For a how-to see here:
    http://osx.topicdesk.com/content/view/38/62/
    (works for 10.6 as well).

    Alex

  • The email I used for my security questions I no longer use so I can't change my security questions . What do I do now ?

the email I had set for my security question help I no longer use and I do not remember my security questions .

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

I had this same issue, except I have Symantec mail security not Forefront. It wound up being a line in the adult content filter. For whatever reason, they included "If you received this email" as one of the literal strings. This is probably part
of almost every corporate confidentiality clause I have ever seen!! go figure......
Thanks for the event log hint- since I have the adult content set to delete, I had no good tracking mechanism in Exhange or SMSME. I set email notifications for the future on these.

I had this same problem, but I have ESET Mail Security Server. in some one case the problem y solved if I attach the "user@domain" in the "white

  • Is there a Spam filter for Mail? In iOS 5?

I haven't seen this question posted for a couple of years, so I'm curious if iOS 4 has addressed my concern. Can Mail for iPod Touch 4th Generation be set up with some sort of spam filter? I have very good filters associated with my various email accounts at their servers (Gmail, GoDaddy, Earthlink) but all of these accounts pass the spam through to my iPod.
Will this be fixed in iOS 5?
And also ... why do some messages not offer the "Trash Can" icon, but only the multiple button option to "Move to>Trash"?
    Thanks

No. iOS5 isn't out yet. We don't know what's in it. But likely there isn't.

  • Can I set up a spam filter for my iPad like I have on my Mac?

Can I set up a spam filter for my iPad like I have on my Mac?

The Mac OS X Mail application has a "Junk" function that works locally, on the Mac, and just puts emails from previously designated "junk" addresses into a separete folder, so you don't have to wade thru all that spam in your Inbox. It's a very elegant and simple, local solution, that I dearly miss on iOS.
I did submit a request for it at Apple Feedback page.

  • Need help setting up the Spam Filter in Mail

    Hi,
I tried so many times to set up my Spam filter in Mac OS Mail, without any success so far. Basically, I have 2 email accounts in Mail, one of them should only let mails through which have "Webmessage from" in their title. So I added the following rule in the Options (translated from German): 'Subject doesn't contain Webmessage from'. Additionally I also added 'Email is Advertisement' and I used 'fulfilling one of the following rules'. What this does, it it filters EVERYTHING and throws it into the junk. I also tried with other rules, as for example 'Sender is in previous receiver' and 'Email is not adressed to my full name', ... Mail just filter everything, everytime or nothing at all.
    Can somebody please help me?

When you set up a mail filter, you can have multiple conditions before an action is taken. So, for example, if you want a rule to apply to one email address, set up the first condition where the 'to' is equal to the email address you want filtered. Click the plus sign next to it, and add the 'subject doesn't contain Webmessge from' condition. Above the 2 conditions, check 'all' of the following conditions. Then under perform the following actions, add two rules, one mark as read, and two move to junk or trash or wherever. That way, since it's marked as read, you never see it in any unread mail counts.

  • Is there a limit to number of conditions I can set in Mail's spam filter?

There seems to be a limit to the amount of conditions I can set in Mail's spam filter. ie there's no scroll bar down the side - the list just goes as long as my computer monitor's length will allow, and that's it.
Is that right - or is there a way to set more than about 28 conditions (in my case).

    Tim,
yes, you can add more conditions (I don't know whether this is a limit or not) using AppleScript - the problem with the approach is that you will have somewhat of a hard time editing the rule in Mail after that as the buttons at the bottom of the window will no longer be accessible...
Look at the following AppleScript as an example on how to add a new condition to a rule called "Junk Rule"
Click to open this script in your Script Editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:500px">tell application "Mail"
    tell rule "Junk Rule"
set theNewCondition to make new rule condition at end of rule conditions
    tell theNewCondition
set rule type to subject header
    set expression to "viagra"
set qualifier to does contain value
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell</pre>

  • The Best Spam Filter for Mail

Here is the best smap filter for mail:
    http://c-command.com/spamsieve/
I don't know why Apple don't buy that company and include the spam filter on mail, that would be great because spam is getting worst every day, and people than don't buy this type of spam filters need to delete a lot of spam mails every day.

The Junk Mail filter included with the Mail.app has always worked very well for me, and IMO, a good deal of the responsibility for filtering spam in the first place and where it arrives initially, lies with the email account provider for an email account - with adequate filtering performed at the incoming mail server.
This and taking some precautions with an email address shouldn't require having to purchase a spam filter from a 3rd party for the email client used to access an account.
