Are there any spam filters for the IPhone?

While there is a brief comment on what sounds like the solution elsewhere in this thread, I've set up a fantastic spam filter system. Here are the details:
1) You'll need a second account with your ISP or workplace. "[email protected]"
2) Mac Mail has a great series of rules, that with some work, can produce a very clean list of real mail, and a very short list of possible "wanted" mail. In my setting, I get more than 150 mail per day, only about 10 are real. We have three accounts, collectively I'll call them "[email protected]"
3) In the rule settings, make the "last rule" to forward all messages (mail does not need you to specify which box) to "[email protected]"
4) Set mail to check your accounts every several minutes, but to not remove mail from the server for a day or more.
This allows me to see each real e-mail ONCE on my desktop, as I need it on my laptop, and when I need it on my iPhone.
The important thing to remember, is to never send any mail from "[email protected]" else it will also start collecting spam on it's own. Conversely, never check the incoming mail from "[email protected]" on your iPhone for fear of inadvertently validating the address and attracting more spam.

PS--You windoze folks may be out of luck. The Windoze mail clients often cannot recognize mail that they've already downloaded, or be as slick with setting up rules to handle the spam.

How do i convert my imovie trailer for the iphone 4 to other file formats?

I'm due to make a comical presentation in 2 days, and i downloaded iMovie for the iphone 4, and would like to use the trailers created as part of the presentation.
I'm on windows xp, and have sent the file to itunes, gone into the file sharing part, added it, saved it, and even synched the flipping thing and yet it wont even play in itunes??? thats driving me mad as it is??
Not really bothered about that....My real main concern is wanting to play the movie file in an AVI/MOV/MP4 etc format, and have even downloaded various video conversion packages to try an convert and playback my results, but once again, and a few hours wasted, I find myself facing another brick wall.
Is it even possible to playback the imovie trailers created in a more generic video format for others to see??
I really do hope so!!!!
If not, then apple, i want my £2.99 (about $5.50) back, coz that would be as pointless as a paper ashtray.

Actually, scrap that one girls. Ive figured it out. For those who have a similar prob, just make sure you have quicktime installed. plug ur iphone into ur pc as normal, and choose the camera an scanner options that appears auto on ur window. select the trailer u wish after the usual wizard talk through and then "ok" or "apply" or whatever the button is called. select your destination folder, and walaa. its all done, and converted into .MOV format.
NOTE: When saving ur trailer on ur phone, and it asks what file size, chose the Medium one, or it takes ages to open.....unless ur comp is super fast, and not like my craptop.

I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered

Create a new Apple ID using a new valid e-mail address

Yes, Airport Express Base Station connected to your Mac by ethernet will work as a bridge. Or you can connect the AE directly to your router/modem by ethernet if it's a non-wi-fi router and it will act as a relay for that.

Can I use my Nationwide Messaging plan for the iPhone 4?

I currently have a plan called Nationwide Messaging (you get unlimited texting and data for $35 a month, and minutes are 40 cents each) which works well for me since I rarely use my phone to talk.
All the iPhone FAQ says is that you need a Nationwide plan, which I have, and a data package, which is already included in my plan. So will this work for the iPhone?

You'd have to upgrade to the smartphone version of that plan for $55/month since the $35 plan is for regular phones and it looks like they're are added requirements to be eligible for that one.

I think to get the best price towards an iPhone 6 you have to have the appraisal submitted and new phone ordered by tomorrow (9/30/14) You buy the new phone on contract price then they email you a Verizon gift card after they receive your phone and make the final decisions on how much to give you. All of the apps I have found on the App store either do not have the text to speech capability or if they have it they will only read a page at a time or simply read the text you paste into their window. I really do not understand what is so difficult about having this feature as Kindle provides it--though Amazon does not make the feature available on its iPhone 4 app.

thanks. yes i am aware of the VoiceOver feature but it is NOT the solution to my problem. as you said, it is a solution to a different set of issues. i want the text to speech ability because i there are books i need to read but do not have the time to sit down and read them and have become used to listening to them read to me either by a professional human reader or with the text to speech software on the Kindle.
I think Apple makes the best audio devices but i am really disappointed in this inexplainable shortcoming. if apple can give us siri they ought to be able to design a nice little button that i can push to turn on text to speech while i am in a document, book, magazine or webpage. clearly it is possible as apple has added the "reader" button in safari to have web pages dropped into the reader format.

All-in-one cleaning cloth & carrying pouch for the iPhone

As I was looking for an all-in-one solution to protect my iPhone in my pocket that could also double as a cleaning cloth, I came up with a low-cost solution. I purchased a cleaning cloth pouch used for sunglasses from Sunglass Hut.
While being able to fit my iPhone inside, I wasn't quite satisfied with the length, so I folded the bag over and stitched across. Now it feels as if the bag was made for the iPhone. Here's how...
*Items need:*
Cloth bag from Sunglass Hut for $6.99 (comes in different colors...I chose black)
Straight pins
Needle & black thread
Directions:
1. Turn the bag inside out
2. Fold the bottom of the bag 3/4" and pin down
3. Stitch across about 1/2" away from the folded end.
4. Turn the bag inside out again...voila!

I'm looking for a good and reliable Password Manager App for the iPhone with sync capabilities on macs. I've read several reviews on several different apps on iTunes, and either they don't work properly, or they're a rip off, or they just don't sync or all of the above. Any recommendations?

I'd like to see a wiki appendage for the iphone

This is an idle thought, but I was looking at the fabulous wiki for the works of Thomas Pynchon the other day -- http://pynchonwiki.com/ -- and thinking that it would be great to have a utility that lets your phone scan a line or two of the book and then connect to online annotations of that passage. This would allow you to retain the pleasures of reading a fixed-type paper book, but have all the flexibility of the online annotating community.
Something like a "see through" lens, where you can slide your phone (or tablet, whatever) over a portion of the page and "see through" the phone (via a camera lens or scanning surface) to the text underneath until you pass over the passage you are interested in (which you would capture and then send to the wiki for comment). I've tried OCR for the iphone with very poor results, so this kind of "anchoring" system for linking real paper text to wiki entries (etc.) would not be easy to build. But I could do a lot with it as a teacher, and as a reader.

I'm getting the error message "Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the iPhone <my iPhone> because the folder "Pictures" cannot be found." lately.
Normally, all I do with photos is move them from my iPhone to my computer's (Windows 7) hard drive. I do this by connecting the iPhone with the cable, a box pops up on the screen asking me what I want to do, and I choose "Import pictures and videos". I've previously selected the "delete photos from the device after move" option (or however it's worded...), simply because I don't want this device to fill up with photos.
Lately, it has been importing the photos fine, but it won't delete them from the iPhone. This used to work just fine, now it doesn't work and I don't know what changed, if anything. In iTunes, I get the error message I list at the beginning of this message.
How do I fix this?
