Spam friend requests

Several times a week I get friend requests from obviously spam accounts all with a similar canned message, something along the lines of "I saw you and thought you'd be interesting to talk to! ;D"
I always block and report, but it doesn't seem to matter. I have every possible privacy setting turned on. At the bottom it says "Skype values your privacy" but I don't believe it. I don't know how so many people are getting my Skype name, because I don't have it posted anywhere. The only thing I can think of is that I'm somehow searchable, and I can't find any option to disable that. Until I stop getting spam, I'm canceling my premium subscription, because it's getting that bad.

  • Massive friend requests

    Hello!
I am getting a massive friend requests. They look like bots, since they ask me if I am male. I got like 7 friend requests in the last 30 minutes. Is there any way for me to block the friend requests or what's any other solution?
    Thanks!

I already have some, accepted before I knew that I would be flowed up by their posts. Now, thinking about removing... too bad.
    Please, see here : https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2549440
    Nicolas.
Likewise, I just thought it was a way of saying "I'm in with this crowd" sort of thing.  Didn't realize it was going to start spamming me with emails from every little comment made by those people.  Fortunately I just went to my preferences and switched off all the emails.

  • Jive Friend Requests

I occasionaly receive some friend requests in my Task list. So far I have been ignoring such requests because I'm not fully aware of the consequences.
    According to the Jive documentation:
You can add people as friends or connections when you want to keep up with what they're working on. When you create friends or connections (either by following them or adding them as friends), Jive will show you the things they've been doing — posting to discussions or their blog, creating documents, and so on. You can also send messages to your friends.
I don't mind if people want to send me messages, but I don't need or want any of the rest.
The previous forum, before the upgrade, allowed me to publish my email address in the user profile. This is no longer possible and the email address profile field is only visible to myself. I would prefer that people contact me by email rather than dealing with the Jive friendship overhead. I can manage my own privacy and deal with possible spam myself.
So can the profile field showing the email address please set to be configurable? Thanks.

The other things you refer to just show in the Dashboard, so it's only if you're really bothered about looking at what all your "friends" are doing that you'll see their stuff in there, just as they can see what you've been doing on their Dashboard.  If you're concerned that you'll get loads of "Communications" coming through for every post etc. your friends make then relax, that's not the case.  Communications only pop up for the threads/discussions you're following, which it typically those ones you've taken part in.  From my experience "friending" someone doesn't cause any massive overhead, it just generates things on the Dashboard.  As for friends being able to send messages... I'm not sure that's been implemented... I've certainly not come across it.
The "friend requests" that annoy me are the ones from unnamed newbies with no posts against them... which I'm guessing are spam bots or the like and I just ignore those; or the ones from newbies who don't even frequent the same forums I do, and I've never even heard of them... they tend to get ignored or rejected.  I've only friended regulards who I'm familiar with.
As for the optional showing of our email, I thought that was an option in our profiles.  If not, I agree it should be, for those that want to use it (I certainly won't).

  • What in the hell are all these friend requests?

So about a week ago, I was getting friend requests from FirstName LastName, and was just deleting them. Now, ONLY LAST NIGHT, I have had 16 more requests. What the hell is this and apart from manually deleting ONE INDIVIDUAL REQUEST AT A TIME for the rest of my life, how do I stop it?
    Cheers,
    Marc

  • Gamecenter says I have a friend request but I don't

Hello - Gamecenter in my iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.3 shows a badge indicating that I have a pending request.  When I load Gamecenter, it also says 1 pending friend request.  However, when I load the "friends" section, there are no pending requests.  This is only happening on my iPhone, even though the same account is on my iPad and MacBook.  None of the other devices have this issue - only the iPhone.
Any suggestions on what could be wrong / how to fix would be appreciated!

Sorry for this long thing, but hopefully it helps.
Have you tried closing the application from the multitasking, then restarting your phone? This could solve the problem. Sometimes our apps just get exhausted and need to restart in the same way our phones need to.
Have you tried logging out and logging back into game center? This can reset game centers information, which should reset friends as well. This can be found in settings>game center
Have you verified your apple ID? Since you're on here I'd guess thats a yes but just in case you haven't go here: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
Is your iOS up to date? sometimes servers get upgraded with the updates so older iOS versions might not be compatible in silly small ways (like Game Center not displaying friends).
The other issue could be related to an error my own phone was having. Basically I couldn't add friends (whether I was sending the request or receiving it) or play multiplayer on game center. In that case the issue is in the iPhone/iPad/iPod software itself, which is something we'd all expect (at least I would) when a company creates a new operating from scratch. In this case what's happening is your game center is responding to the iOS restrictions found in your settings menu (even though restrictions are disabled).
    To fix this problem
    go to settings>general>restrictions
Enable restrictions and choose a password you'll remember in 45 seconds
Scroll to the bottom where you see the section labeled "Game Center"
Now flip the switch on both Multiplayer Games and Adding Friends so both switches are green.
Scroll back to the top and disable restrictions
So let me know if you try any of that and let me know if any of it works.

  • Game Center friend request problems

I've tried to add my friend through Game Center and I sent the friend request fine via email, but when I asked her if she got the request, she said that she did and that on her friends list it said that I was added to her list and that she could see the scores on my games and everything. When she removed me, she sent me a request and I never got one. Anyone else have this problem?

  • HT4211 How to accept friend request in game center?

I am trying to add a friend in game center. I can see the request but when I hit the request the screen goes to my friend list and there is no request present. Alternatively when I try to find him I get the message "Friend request failed. Unable to send friend request". I know he does not have any problem adding friends and this is the first time I have seen this message. Funny thing is it happened right after I did the update to iOS7.1.
Notifications are allowed for game center on my phone, parental settings are off, and I have allowed people to request to be my friend in settings.
    Any suggestions??

Nvm I figured it out. Very stupid! Recently changed my password and game center will still run eventhough you didn't change the password for game center as well. Simply restarted my iPhone and everything is fine. Just wish there would have been some sort of notification when I first accessed game center after changing my Apple ID password.
    Anyway no worries all good...

  • Spam contact requests

I have had a Skype account for several years, I have never had so may spam contact requests as in recent months. I have the highest privacy settings and always report and block spam. It still comes through - often with the same photos and message requests. What is being done to stop this? What is the point of blocking, if nothing is done to trace and prevent it from happening again?

    Hello,
Did anybody get a fix for this im getting 2-3 requests every day, surely if you set allow msgs from contacts only this should stop them.. I understand that if skype blocks contact requests nobody can get in touch, but I would be much happier if this option was available in the privacy settings. This seems to be a problem that is just ignored by Skype but seems to be irritating the users. If anybody has a fix, I would like to know it...

  • How do you accept a friend request in the new Game Center with iOS 7.0.4?

How do you accept a friend request in the new Game Center?

I have a red "1" showing I have a request, how do I accept it? I have my list of friends, I scroll down and see the list of recommendations (which doesn't tell me they are playing my game), but I don't see where to accept the request sent to me.

  • Getting random friend requests on BBM

  • Fake Facebook Friend Requests only to my phone

I am getting fake friend requests from an impersonator of one of my friends. She reported it to Facebook, but since it is only coming to my phone and not to Facebook on my computer, it made me wonder if there is an increase of scammers out there trying to get into smart phones using this trick.  Just thought I should make others aware that this is happening and do not friend someone if you know they are already your friend.  Check your computer.  Tell the friend, only they can report it to Facebook and try to get rid of the rogue duplicat profile.

Same issue here with my bold 9900 (software version below). I keep receiving fake friendship requests bi-weekly+
Is there anybody in the forum experiencing the same issue?
    Thank you,
    Marco

  • Block friend requests - no new requests required

I am sick and tired of having to block 6 -12 friend requests a day from random "Generals" in Afghanistan, or other obvious crooks. I don't need any new friend requests, because all the people I would want to contact are already my friends. Can we have a privacy button that allows us to block all new friend requests, please. This would mean that if we made a new friend that we wanted to add, we could temporarily turn the button on again, and then resume our blocked status. I have family who turn their skype off all the time because they don't want these rubbish requests. This means that I can't contact them without first spending money on my cellphone (overseas text) to ask them to turn skype on.  This is surely not the intention of skype, which is meant to be, and mostly is, a great way to keep in touch.

No one wants to be your friend?
It would help a lot if you said what app you're talkng about.

  • Facebook friend requests

I am unable to delete all friend requests on facebook. Can you please help?

Yes this is a known issue and yet to be corrected.  It also applies to Linkedin connection requests.  The only way to currently delete these is to log out of Facebook which will delete the account from the hub and then log back into facebook or recreate the hub account.  Same thing with Linkedin, remove the hub account and readd it.   Hopefully they will soon address these issues.
