Spam in email

When I use my Macbook Air and receive new mail I keep getting spam from one sender.  I delete it, put it in trash, empty trash and still them keep coming.  How do I make it stop?

Apple Mail does identify 'junk' ... which I then have to delete.  But there are about as many that are obvious 'junk' that Apple Mail does not identify.  I mark those as 'junk' and delete them.  AM I INCREASING Apple Mail's ability to recognize junk when I do that?
And is the 'junk' designation the same as "Apple Mail's spam catcher" referred to by Barry, above?
Could you point me to some of the more obvious sources of spam?  This increase is significant and only in the last couple of weeks.  I'm guessing I entered my e-mail address on some list that I should not have ... and now one spammer is sharing my address with others.  Likely?

  • Need Help With Spam Proof Email Form

I am making a new web site using iWeb, .Mac, personal domain and forwarding from my commercial host. I want to make an email contact form that spammers cannot hijack and use to deluge use with spam. I have another web site that was created with Dreamweaver that contains a javascript form that I think that I can modify and use as an html snippet in iWeb.
Will this work in iWeb (sending a form response to non-.mac email address? The form I am using relies on two small text documents that are stored in the templates folder of my site. The following code refers to the one line of text in the confige document.
    <input type=hidden name="config" value="templates/confige.txt">
    <input type=hidden name="success_url" value="http://myothersite.com">
    <input type=hidden name="email" value="[email protected]">
    Text of confige: mail_template=templates/emailTemplate.txt
The confige document refers to the following text which are the field names and order.
    Name: <first>
    Store Name: <store>
    Location: <city>
    E-mail: <custemail>
    Platform: <platform>
    Comments:<storeDescription>
How do I deal with the text documents that are stored in a separate folder in my Dreamweaver site, and can I eliminate these documents and use just the html form in iWeb?

  • How to change bounce message for spam tagged email?

    Hello,
I'm checking outgoing email messages for spam. I will send bounce to email sender (user from my domain) if message is tagged as positive or suspected spam. ok, I can set it, but how can I change text in bounce message?
default bounce if mail is tagged as spam is:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
    Subject: FW: something
    Sent: 7/12/2009 8:33 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
[email protected] on 7/12/2009 8:35 PM
The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator.
    <smtp.domain.com #5.0.0 smtp; 5.x.0 - Message bounced by administrator (delivery attempts: 0)>
^^ but there is no information for the sender that message is not possible deliver, because is tagged as spam.
Is it possible to change this default message?
    (AsyncOS: v6.5.2-101)

You are correct that it doesn't appear that the Positive Spam or Suspect Spam setting doesn't appear to give you any leeway on using a different bounce profile/message to whomever you bounce it back to.
You may want to consider this workaround.
    1. In the Action, change it to "Deliver"
    2. In the Advanced section of both the Positive and Suspect spam, there is a section labeled "Add Custom Header". Add a custom header like the following:
    X-Internal-Spam-Message: true
    3. Then, since this message will still go through the outgoing content filters, you can create an outgoing content filter that looks for the "X-Internal-Spam-Message" header. If that header exist, then the outgoing content filter will match. For the action, you may need to use the "notify()" action and notify the original sender that it could not get delivered since it was detected to be spam. There is an option to attach the original message. The reason you need to use the notify() instead of the bounce() is because bounce doesn't currently have the option to specify which bounce profile to use.
You can only specify a different bounce profile in the "Mail Policies > Destination Controls".
Let me know if you have any question.

  • Does spam drain email filter slow down or have any issues with mozilla thunderbird ?

i installed spam drain on my iphone as an app, it really removed the amount of spam getting through to my Thunderbird account on my iphone.
the level of spam on my pc Thunderbird account can be filtered but not on iphone as far as i know?
since i installed teh app on my i phone it works great and reduces all the spam , but my emails on pc sometimes hangs and goes really slow resulting in a restart?
is ther any know conflicts between installing the spam drain on my iphone to filter my thunderbird email account and resulting in it slowing up or freezing when working on it on my pc?

''... my Thunderbird account on my iphone.''
There is no such thing like a 'Thunderbird account'. Mozilla isn't an email provider.

No. What is your anti-virus software on the PC?

  • Anti spam for email on web pages

I am in the process of building a text only version of my site which will display sensibly on a Blackberry. One problem I have encountered is that I use Syronex anti-spam protection on the email addresses in the pages. This does not appear to work on my Blackberry. Anyone know of an antispam system that will work?
    Thanks in advance
     LewisC

HELP!  I just "upgraded" from a Palm Treo to a Balackberry Curve and my browser will not show the anti-spam images when I try to post on Craigslist.
What is the problem, and how can it be fixed?
If I can't post on Craigslist, then the Blackberry is not much use to me.
Same as it ever was . . .

  • Why is webmaker spamming my email with the same thing over and over again?

I made a webmaker account, then changed it so I wouldnt get emails. Then I closed the account because I didnt like it and now webmaker is spamming me. Within 30 minutes I got well over 100 of the same email. I told them to stop, they didnt. Fix it because I hate having people on my blocked list.

Ok I unblocked the address that I was getting them from this morning and I haven't gotten any since. I do have another question though. Do you know when mozilla is going to fix the flash player problem? I upgraded flash player to the one that adobe recommends for firefox and it still doesnt work.

  • How do i report Spam BT emails to BT?

Have had two email from BT ( i know they are not from BT) asking for login details etc (not sending anything back to these idiots)
Looks like they have come from BT addys (maybe someones account is hacked already)
Think BT should know about these spam mails so who or where should i send them?

Just regarding your last post, I have copied an email received from BT during April.
As you can see there are some changes to their email conditions occurring in June
Important changes to your BT email terms
    Hello,
We're changing the terms and conditions for accessing the email that comes with your BT Broadband - BT Yahoo! Mail.
From 17 June this year, you'll need to log in to your email account at least once every 150 days. If you don't, we'll presume you don't use your email account anymore and we'll close it.
Read our new terms and conditions.
How to keep your BT email
Make sure you use your email at least once every 150 days by logging on at bt.yahoo.com or using your computer email software (like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird). If you don't, we'll close the account and delete everything that goes with it - including your emails, contacts, calendar and notes.
But if we close your account, you can still use the email address to log in to BT Wi-fi or other BT services. You just won't be able to use it for email.
    If you use Flickr
This change won't affect the email address you're using to log on to Flickr just yet (that's the photo sharing site that you access with your BT Yahoo! email address). We'll contact you again later this year to let you know when the changes will affect you.
Make it easier for us to get in touch with you
The next time you log in to bt.com, make sure the email address you used for My BT is one you check regularly. If it isn't, change it to one you do.
    Change your contact details now.
    Need some help?
To find out more about these changes, go to bt.com/help/emailterms.
    Thanks for choosing BT.

  • Spam & Hoax Emails

Received a very authentic looking e-mail allegedly from Sky complete with Sky coluored  logos and registered address from the Sky Yahoo Email Team stating that as I havn't signed into my account for 5 months my account will be suspended in line with the Sky Yahoo Mail terms and conditions.    Once suspended you won,t get any e-mails in your in-box.   After a further 30 days we will de-activate your e-mail, calendar, chat and address book and you will not be able to recover this information.   If your automatically forwarding your incoming e-mails from your Sky Yahoo Email account to another please let us know by clicking here and we'll stop sending you these e-mails. I was suspicious as I access my Yahoo Account at least twice weekly and the e-mail was sent to an old virgin e-mail address that I never use. Phoned Sky and was advised this was most likely a phishing scam don't click on the link and delete the e-mail. Hope this helps others in receipt of this spam Hope this helps others similiarly contacted

Yes, but the trouble is, the scammers know this and time their campaigns to exploit it.It's a nightmare! My advice,  is to never click on any such email links directly but use your browser instead, to access your account the way you normally would -  via the official site.(That way you've still shown the account is active by actually logging in directly)Then look under your account settings for the appropriate option - if there even is one.Don't copy/paste links from emails to 'save time' either! No decent service should force you to risk  clicking  email links,  by not giving any alternative  method.

  • Hotmail/iphone automatically adding "+spam" to email addresses

    Hi,
I'm having issues sending email on my iPhone 3G. OS version 4.2.1
Recently, every email I send (I'm using a hotmail account) is automatically getting "+spam" entered into the email address so it bounces back as the email address is invalid. eg: [email protected] is going out as [email protected]
I have no problems receiving email.
Does anyone have any idea how to stop this? is it iphone software, hotmail or carrier issues? cheers

Some email providers support something called “plus” addressing. Gmail is one of them.
Essentially, “plus” addressing lets you create aliases by appending additional characters to the account name part of your email address. To do this, precede it by a plus sign . For example, if your gmail address is [email protected] you can create the following alias:
    [email protected]
This is quite helpful if you wnat to filter email ffrom diferent senders
I don't think that hotmail supports this but you may want to check your email settings on your iphone that the address doesn't include the +spam in it.

  • Mail app downloading spam / junk email from Yahoo

I use yahoo as my email service, and I also download mail from yahoo to the Mail app onmy ipad3.  I have noticed that the app is also downloading spam or junk email rather than email that is only in the inbox.
Can someone tell me how to only download mail from the inbox?
    Thanks,
    Ben

The iPad mail app has no filters for spam and junk mail. You have to set those filters on the server in your Yahoo mail account.

  • Why increased spam in email?

First of all, apologies for posting this here but I didn't find the 'Apple Mail' section that I seem to remember used to be previously available in Support.  (right?)
I've had a significant increase in spam in the last couple of weeks.  From a couple a day to now approaching ten-fifteen a day. Might there be some action I have taken that would open me to more spam?  I can't think of anything unusual I've done.
I googled this topic and didn't find any straightforward answers.  Is Spam Cop recommended?
