Spam or virus in iPhone 4 - emails

Hi, I have received an e-mail message this morning. There are no information about sender or subject and the message was sent January 1, 1970. I can´t delete it and it it not possible to open the message. Can this be a kind of spam, virus or similar? I hope someone have a clue.

You're welcome.
Nothing is infected. Even if there were any viruses that affect or infect OS X, nothing can be installed on an iPhone from a received email except for a photo, which can be done manually only, and I haven't read any reports about a Windows virus being included with a JPEG file and a Windows virus cannot affect or infect OS X.

  • Server Alerts reports "Virus Detected in inbound email" for spam

I receive hundreds of email every day that a Virus was detected in inbound email.  When checking the contents of /Library/Server/Mail/Data/scanner/quarantine these messages are only spam message, not viruses.  Virus infected messages seem to get placed in /Library/Server/Mail/Data/scanner/virusmails
I am running on Mavericks Server 3.1.2 (1354517)
    serveradmin -v = Version 10.8 ($revision: 1.13 $ -- May 13 2014)
Does anyone know how to tune the Server Alerting to properly handle the files in /Library/Server/Mail/Data/scanner so that virusmails are reported as virus's but quarantine is not reported?
I have searched high and low, and cannot find where this is controlled.  With Mavericks, I no longer see Virus Alerts under the alerts management menu of Server.app
I checked amavisd configs, as well as many other files under /Library/Server for any references to "quarantine" text, to no avail.
I dumped all of serveradmin settings, and do not see anything that references quarantine except for the quarantine recipient addresses for spam and viruses.
Is anyone else experiencing this, or does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thanks in advance.

I received over 200 spam messages yesterday that got reported as viruses to me, and out of frustration, I discovered a work around.  I don't know if this is the result of a past update, or the steps I used trying to reset the server, but I performed the following and was able to suppress the email alerts.  At the time of my original posting, the Alerts section of the Server.app did not offer any option for disabling the alerts for virus..
    1) Launch Server.app
    2) Select Mail in left pane
    3) Turn off Virus filtering
    4) stop/start Mail server
    5) Turn on Virus filtering
    6) stop/start Mail server
    7) Turn off Spam filtering
    8) stop/start Mail server
    9) Turn on Spam filtering
    10) stop/start Mail server
    11) Select Alerts in left pane
    12) clear all active alert
    13) Under notifications tab, I now saw "Mail" as an option
13.1) Turn off the alerts for Mail
Now I don't get spammed with Virus alerts for spam messages.  This is not a fix for the configuration error in the alerting service, but it does stop the admin mailboxes from being flooded with virus alerts for all spam messages.  I cannot confirm if it was the enable/disable of the filtering that added the Mail entry under alert notifications or if it was an update, as I did not check the alerts notifications at the time.  I was frustrated, and desperate for a fix, so I did the first thing that came to mind.  But now my Mail system alerts can be enabled/disabled through server.app so I am happy.  Lets just hope for a classification fix in the Yosemite update coming this fall.

  • Spam or virus message

I bought a photosmart 6510.  When I try to send a photo from the phone to the printer to the printer's email address it comes back reading spam or virus.  Then I tried to send a photo from my photos on my iphone and I wrote in the subject area and sent it small version nothing came out except a line saying sent from my iphone.  I tried it from another iphone and it said spam or virus. Can you help

    HI tsp32,
One reason you are getting that message could be that your iphone and email have signatures. Make sure that neither of them have a  signature and try to send them again. Also you can make sure there are no forward or reply tags in the subject line. If you try that and still get that message it may be something to do with the photo file size or type so you might try another photo and see if that helps.
If I helped you at all it would be great if you clicked the blue kudos star!
If I solved your post please mark it as solved to help others.

  • Spam filtering solution for iPhone and a question.

I've read a lot of posts about spam filtering for the iPhone and have yet another solution and a question. I use SpamSieve and I am not affiliated with them in any way. The nice thing about SpamSieve is that if it is the first rule in your Mail.app rule set any mail that follows has already been filtered. All you need to do then is create another rule that redirects email to what ever mail account you choose. Since my ISP allows multiple accounts, I will simply create an iPhone@myISP account.
Now the question. Is it possible to write an applescript that will turn the redirect rule on or off so that I don't have to dig into the rules section of Mail to get this done?
    Thanks

  • SPAM filters for the IPhone

Are there any spam filters for the IPhone?

While there is a brief comment on what sounds like the solution elsewhere in this thread, I've set up a fantastic spam filter system. Here are the details:
    1) You'll need a second account with your ISP or workplace. "[email protected]"
    2) Mac Mail has a great series of rules, that with some work, can produce a very clean list of real mail, and a very short list of possible "wanted" mail. In my setting, I get more than 150 mail per day, only about 10 are real. We have three accounts, collectively I'll call them "[email protected]"
    3) In the rule settings, make the "last rule" to forward all messages (mail does not need you to specify which box) to "[email protected]"
    4) Set mail to check your accounts every several minutes, but to not remove mail from the server for a day or more.
This allows me to see each real e-mail ONCE on my desktop, as I need it on my laptop, and when I need it on my iPhone.
The important thing to remember, is to never send any mail from "[email protected]" else it will also start collecting spam on it's own. Conversely, never check the incoming mail from "[email protected]" on your iPhone for fear of inadvertently validating the address and attracting more spam.
    Hope that this helps.
    Adam
PS--You windoze folks may be out of luck. The Windoze mail clients often cannot recognize mail that they've already downloaded, or be as slick with setting up rules to handle the spam.

  • Virus detected in inbound email

We have just upgraded to OSX Server 3.0.3 and am now getting alerts saying "Virus detected in inbound email".
    Go to /Library/Server/Mail/Data/scanner/quarantine
When I go to the folder, I don't have permission to get into it even though I am logged into the server as the administrator?
I need to see if these are coming from customer or not.
Any ideas on how to inspect them much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Carl

I found this post on Google, sorry to dig up an old thread but I'd just like to say you can inspect them this way:
    sudo su
    cd /Library/Server/Mail/Data/scanner/quarantine
    ls
If the files are gz format like they are on my server you can:
    zless <bad file name here>.gz
Then use your up and down keys to see the HTML content or anything else. In my case it was actually a legitimate message being marked as spam, not a virus at all!

  • How do I stop the "virus has been detected" emails?

I am running OS X Server 10.8.2. The Mail Server frequently sends me "A virus has been detected" emails. I want to stop these emails entirely, because the emails are being screened out by my spam filter anyway.
I turned off mail virus filtering in the Server app, but that hasn't changed this; I still get the alert emails.
How do I stop my OS X Server from sending me these virus alert emails?

In the Server app go to the Delivery tab in the Alerts section. Under settings you can turn off the Virus detected alerts.

  • I transferred some photos to my iphone via email and they come up in camera roll as low resolution.  How do I fix this?

I transferred some photos to my iphone via email and they have very low resolution.  First I sent them from iPhoto with highest resolution, then I transferred them to my desktop in highest resolution and added them to an email, opened the email and saved to my Camera roll.  They all look like low resolution photos. This is the exact method I have used to transfer photos in the past with my 4S and never had a problem.  What am I doing wrong?  Is this a bad camera?  HELP please!  Thank you!

My husband has the same phone, we purchased them at the same time.  I sent him the same photos in the same email that I downloaded them from and on his phone they show up with the normal higher resolution.  Is it possible that there is something wrong with my iPhone or is there a setting that can be changed?  I'm still learning to use it.  All my other photos are of normal resolution.  Does this make any sense to anyone?
    Please help!

    Hello tcnolen1,
It sounds like you are trying to change the Apple ID logged into the iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone.  Use these steps:
    Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.

I have a MacBook Pro Retina with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. I recently tried to send a large file through the iCloud email drop. The email stayed in my outbox for a day and made my email app extremely slow. The email never sent, so I deleted the email from my outbox and restarted the program. Now, my email is no longer receiving any emails. The same email account on my iPhone receives emails, but my Mac email program will not receive emails. I've restarted the program and the Mac, but nothing has resolved the problem. Any suggestions???

POP does not support synchronization between the server and clients. You will need to use IMAP or Exchange Active Sync if your email provider supports it.
