Spam safelist for distribution list

I have a user that wants to create a safelist for email that regularly goes to a distribution list. The user will get a notice that the email has been caught in the spam filter, can releast the email but is not able to set a safelist for the address.
Is there a way to grant access to create a safelist for email that is sent to a distribution list?

Users can only add an email sender's address to their own Safelist. There are no available permissions for users' Safelist/Blocklist settings. As such, you would not be able to grant them access to anything that is not already availalble.
If any users find that valid messages from distribution lists are being tagged as spam, it would be a good idea to open a ticket with Cisco IronPort Customer Support. They can then work with the IronPort Anti-Spam team, to correct any rules causing false positives.

Delete authorization for distribution list

Hi,
In our system all the distribution lists suddenly deleted and it was in the shared trash folder.
so we retrived from the folder.
To restrict the delete authorization of users for distribution lists in the object S_OC_ROLE field OFFADMI ' Administrator' has been changed to ' '. But they were not able to create the the distribution list in the shared folder. they are able to create only in their private folder.
Is there any way to restrict the delete authorization alone.

Please try to add this authorisation object manually F_BKPF_BUK- Authorisation object for company code.
In the filed BUKRS you can maintain the company code as you required for the users.

How to create a rule for distribution list

I have users in a distribution list that all require a specific rule to be created for them. I have been able to create a a rule to distribute in Exchange management shell which works properly but I have found out that the rule will not be visible to the
end user in the Outlook 2007 client. I was wondering if there is a solution to distribute a rule to these users without the need tot visit each of their computers while they are signed in (24-hour business but I.T. only works day shift). Any solution would
be appreciated.

From your description, I would like to clarify that the rule you create in EMS is the transport rule. Users can't see the transport rules on Outlook side. They can see the Outlook rules on Outlook side. Your understanding will be appreciated.

I have found that we can set the following flags to get an confirmatrion.

DELIVER = 'X'.
using cl_send_request_bcs=>create_recipient_from_soos1
This can done for an single user (recipient)
But how is it possible to set this flags to a distibution list?

In outlook try these settings :
1.From the Oulook Tools menu, select Options (if you don't see the Options menu item, you may ahve to expand the menu window with that little double arrow that points downward).
2. In the next screen for Options, click on the Email Options button
3.In the next screen Email Options, click on the Tracking Options button.
4. In the Tracking Options screen, you have a checkmark for Delivery receipt. Click this and all your emails you send out will give you an alert when your email server delivers them.
Moreover check in SOST, the traffic signal should be green indicating the mail was send successfully to outlook.

Address Book Distribution List Settings Don't Stick

Is there a bug in Address Book for distribution lists? When I attempt to edit an address book distribution by changing the default email, the setting does not stick. I can select a bold any address for a contact with multiple addresses, but then when I go back in and look at the distribution list, it goes back to the previous email and not the one I selected.

I was having a very similar problem. For some individuals, I could change the preferred e-mail address in edit distribution list, but not for others. After some messing around, I discovered that the only people whose settings didn't stick were those whose first e-mail listed in the Edit Distribution List sheet was a facebook.com e-mail. If they had a Facebook e-mail that wasn't first in the list, I could change them.
The order of e-mail addresses in the Edit Distribution list and the individual cards wasn't the same. e.g. I couldn't reset my husband's e-mail address because in Edit Distribution, his facebook.com address was listed first. But it was listed last on his actual card.
I fixed things by going to System Preferences, Mail Contacts & Calendars, locating my Facebook account in the list, and unchecking "contacts." The facebook.com addresses disappeared in contacts, and the changes I made in Edit Distribution list stuck.

Distribution list, duplicate alias

I accidently deleted AD object for distribution list.
When I create distribution list from
"Chage group Settings" page and set "Create an e-mail distribution group for this group?" to yes, I get "The Directory Management Service reported the following error: Duplicate alias." I tried to delete distribution list from Central Administration -> Operations -> Approve/reject distribution groups, no luck either.
I tried stsadm refreshdms and got:
Error in application.
Any advice?

Please check if you have any groups listed under Central Administration > Operations > Approve/reject distribution groups when you select "Delete Requests" view. If yes, please delete them.
I tried this before I posted my question. I tested this and found two things:
1. A group doesn't get deleted if AD doesn't exactly match the data. Here is the situation. When I tried a distribution group called "IT group", unfortunately "IT group" contact email distribution existed. Of course, SharePoint gave me an error; somehow "IT group" appeared on Directory Management Service Approval List.
2. Even I delete a group and the group disappears, I get the same error. One group for this post, I created one and accidentally deleted AD side.
Do you have OU created for these contacts and distribution groups in AD (Active Directory)? if yes, please delete this group from OU and see if that helps.
No OU has been created for this group.
Also check OU for any contacts ( created for email enabled lists/libraries or for any other purpose) with the same name(alias), which you are assigning to a distribution group. This seems to be the strongest possibility of the error message you are receiving.
So far; no luck. Couldn't find any group with the same name in AD.
If I create and delete a group, it works perfectly on all sides. Still looking for a solution.

Which phones have Distribution list capability?

I need to purchase a phone for a youth group charity I work with to allow me to contact lists of people.
Can anyone tell me which phones which are available now in the UK as new have this feature. I dont want to purchase a second hand one just in case it breaks. I want to get a new phone.
As we're a charity - cost is a factor so I need to know which lower spec models carry this feature.

The best phone for distribution lists or contact groups appears to be the Nokia 6300. I have one and it definitely does 20 lists and I was told it goes to 40 lists. It is not in the technical manual. It is an excellent phone.
Nokia 3120 (7 lists of 20 contacts each); Nokia 1101, 2100 (6 distribution lists each).
I was told the expensive N and E series handle lists, but in the shop they looked to be capped at 10 distribution list. Need to check this.
In Asia the low cost models: 1265, 1325, 2505 are all said to have good distribution list capability, but they are not available in EC or USA.
I wish Nokia would publish this info in their technical specs - I spent days researching this. I run a football league and need to contact lots of teams.

How can I set a specific email notification for an email sent to a distribution list I am a member of?

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 7. For my job I need to be able to have my phone to get notificaitons from work. I need to be able to have a notification for emails sents to distribution lists that I am a part of. Basically I need to be able to set the notification based on the Sent To: field and not the From: field. Anyone have any ideas?

Create the group. Drag in the folks you want to include in the group. Right click on the group and choose "Edit Distribution List" and a window will pop up showing which addresses are selected in bold, and those that are not selected in plain text. Just click on the emails you want to use and it switches the selected address.

Best practice for Active Directory User Templates regarding Distribution Lists

I am looking to implement Active Directory User templates for each department in the company to make the process of creating user accounts for new employees easier. Currently when a user is created a current user's Active directory account is copied, but
this has led to problems with new employees being added to groups which they should not be a part of.
I have attempted to implement this in the past but ran into an issue regarding Distribution Lists. I would like to set up template users with all group memberships that are needed for the department, including distribution lists. Previously I set this up
but received complaints from users who would send e-mail to distribution lists the template accounts were members of.
When sending an e-mail to the distribution list with a member template user, users received an error because the template account does not have an e-mail address.
What is the best practice regarding template user accounts as it pertains to distribution lists? It seems like I will have to create a mailbox for each template user but I can't help but feel there is a better way to avoid this problem. If a mailbox is created
for each template user, it will prevent the error messages users were receiving, but messages will simply build up in these mailboxes. I could set a rule for each one that deletes messages, but again I feel like there is a better way which I haven't thought
of.
Has anyone come up with a better method of doing this?

You can just add arbitrary email (not a mailbox) to all your templates and it should solve the problem with errors when sending emails to distribution lists.
If you want to further simplify your user creation process you can have a look at Adaxes (consider it's a third-party app). If you want to use templates, it gives you a slightly better way to do that (http://www.adaxes.com/tutorials_WebInterfaceCustomization_AllowUsingTemplatesForUserCreation.htm)
and it also can automatically perform tasks such as mailbox creation for newly created users (http://www.adaxes.com/tutorials_AutomatingDailyTasks_AutomateExchangeMailboxesCreationForNewUsers.htm).
Alternatively you can abandon templates at all and use customizable condition-based rules to automatically perform all the needed tasks on user creation such as OU allocation, group membership assignment, mailbox creation, home folder creation, etc. based on
the factors you predefine for them.

Would like to see your help in some powershell scripting. I am still a newbie in scripting for Exchange 2010 (Office 365). I am tasked to write a script that will count how many members in a list of distribution list. I have manage to come up with most of
the task, but I am not able to get the count. The error says Object not found. Below is my simple script. Hope someone can help me to see where are my mistakes in the script. This is how my script works,
1. Generates a TXT file for the list of DLs
2. Get reads the TXT file and generates the user counts for each DL in the TXT file.
3. Output the results into a CSV file.
