SPAM/SAINT support packs.
Hello,
I am updating SPAM?SAINT from 700/0023 to 700/0030. I have found the Support Pack version in Service Market place and when I did click Download it does not show up in my Download manager.
Is it because all these can only be downloaded from Solution Manager?
How do I go find the Spam/Saint Update in Solution Manager? I could not find it. Like we have the additional components in service market place, do we also have some kind of a tab in SOlman ?
Thanks
Druva
Druva,
>When I open the .sim file for Maintenance Optimizer in step 5 it says" enter the Maintenance ERP >system Date and then press enter". What does it actually mean.
Sorry but when I have approved SP downloads with SOLMAN, I had no .sim file to deal with.
So, I don't have an answer....
I just put my SPs in my download basket, then I go in SOLMAN in solution_manager transaction where I choose whatever solution we have (there is no control, I can approve CRM SPs with an BI solution...). Then When I use Download manager, I see all the approved SPs.

Hi
I am importing a group of Support Packs into our DEV environment to bring the landscape uptodate, we are running NW04 on Windows 2003 64 bit & SQL Server 2000, I've updated to the latest SPAM and Kernel before the Support Packs.
When importing in SPAM I have used the calculate queue method, all looks ok, when I perform the import, in the phase TEST IMPORT i get the following error for Support Pack SP 12 for EA-FINSERV 5.00 :
<b>
Function MAP2I_BAPICMS_STR_MOV_INS_CRT (CMS_BUSISB104_MAPPI does not fit into the existing function group ((CMS_BUSISB10)</b>
The only option I am given is to repeat the phase, I've repeated this a few times and get the same error on TEST IMPORT. I'm new to NW04 640 BASIS, but I know from running 4.6X system that you can re-run phases and quite often they work correctly 2nd time round, is it worth changing SPAM to not stop on test import errors ? as I know objects required can be in earlier support packs (i'm applying supports pack EA-FINSERV 5.00 08 to 11 as part of the queue before 12 which is giving me the error.
I've checked on OSS and cannot find any notes on this error/support pack.
Thanks.nope, not tried with ignore test errors yet, wanted to check opinions here to see if thats the next step to try, or if there's anything else I could try ?

Support Package Manager: SPAM/SAINT Update
Hi,
I downloaded the SPAM/SAINT Update and executed it with SAPCAR in the directory of the Application Server Folder. The original file KD74053.sar (6767 kb) is still in the folder, but a new file 'signature.smf' (5 kb) appeared.
What is that one for?
Next, I think that I should be able to take a next step with transaction SPAM (Support Package --> Load Packages --> From Application Server), but it's 'blanked out' and not accessible.
What are the next steps and how do I really get the SPAM/SAINT update working, so I can proceed to my actual goal, the Support Package Update.
Thanks!Hi,
To reset DDIC password you could go with
SQL> select bname from usr02 where mandt='000' and bname='SAP*'
If the user SAP* exists then delete the user with below command
SQL> delete from usr02 where mandt='000' and bname='SAP*'
Run the below command to verify whether user deletion was successful.
SQL> select bname from usr02 where mandt='000' and bname='SAP*'
SQL> commit;
After that login to client 000 with SAP* and password as pass
reset the password for user DDIC with SAP* user.

How to get particular support package from service market place .
EX:SAPKB70011
If you want to download the patch SAPKB70011:
Service Market Please --> Downloads --> SAP Support Packages --> Search for Support Package and Patches.
At the search field, enter SAPKB7001* it will give you all the support package from SAPKB70010 to SAPKB70019 if available.
You can add the required patch to your download manager.
Thanks & Regards,

Difference b/w support pack ,plugin nd path level nd how to recognise them
Hello Experts,
I have one question?
How to recognize Wt is Support package, wt is add on or Plug in ,and wt is patch level , what is the difference between them all and how to trace them and where from to apply them .
Requestd to revert at earliest,my email id is [email protected] .
Regards,
SomyaHi Somya,
Support packs are the corrects to the SAP objects , we have to apply through SPAM where as SAINT will be used to install plugins and Add-ons. where are the patch level never play in your SAP.. it play between your operating system and SAP system.. that means the binary level fix.
I just tried to differentiate all the three things.
Please award points if i answered your question.
kind regards

EHP5: What are prerequisites relative to ERP/EHP, & NW support packs
We understand that ERP EHP5 is going into Ramp Up in December, 2010. To add EHP5 to our environment, what are the minimum support pack levels for ERP (we are currently under EHP4 support pack 4, moving to 7), as well as any other support pack level dependencies for NetWeaver? (In other words, what are the "jumping off points" from previous support pack levels?)
Any estimate of General Availability for EHP5?Hello,
Based ón the current support pack level EHP5 stack will be generated with pre requisites .
You have to maintain the data in solution manager.
EHP Installer will take care rest of the things like notes tobe implemented , SAINT/SPAM versions.

I've made the search and found a lot of info.
Some kernel updates (I386 on my case), and my first question is: "How do I update this? Is it safe to be the first thing to be done?" Is it only copy to the Run directory (usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\run)?
Also a component BC-FES-IGS has some updates, but I don't know what is this and how to update. (it says: Installation for SAP IGS integrated in SAP Kernel igsexe_16-10003071.sar)
All the rest (SAPK* files), seems to be normal patches that is possible to use spam to update them. Correct?
How to use SPAM/SAINT? What is used in one time, and on others? Do they do the same?

Edited by: Pedro Taveira on Aug 17, 2010 5:20 PMHi Pedro,
Some kernel updates (I386 on my case), and my first question is: "How do I update this? Is it safe to be the first thing to be done?" Is it only copy to the Run directory (usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\run)?
As SolMan is a dual stack machine, you can use JSPM to update the kernel. Another way is to extract the Kernel SAR files into the exe\run directory. It is a best practice to update the kernel before the support packages. Take a backup of the existing exe directories before you update the kernel and also pay good attention while downloading the kernel. you need to take care while choosing the correct version of the kernel (either 32 bit or 64 bit and ITANIUM or XEON). If you choose the wrong kernel, then ur SAP system will not come up.
Also a component BC-FES-IGS has some updates, but I don't know what is this and how to update. (it says: Installation for SAP IGS integrated in SAP Kernel igsexe_16-10003071.sar)
Extract the IGS SAR also along with teh kernel files.
All the rest (SAPK* files), seems to be normal patches that is possible to use spam to update them. Correct?
Yes!!! You may have to update the latest SPAM/SAINT (SAPKD700*) before updating the SP's.
How to use SPAM/SAINT? What is used in one time, and on others? Do they do the same?
Support Packs can be updated using SPAM and the add-on upgrades has to be done using SAINT.

Can we update spam/saint to level 40 without use of solution manager?
Specify the SAP release.
You must use solution manager to download SPAM / SAINT update.
Because you need to approve the download request from MOPZ.
What are the requirements needed to download the spam/saint update?
The basic requirement would be to import latest SPAM/SAINT package before you update your Support pack levels for ABAP system.

4.7 x 2.00 Support Pack Question
Hello,
I am attempting to apply upgrade from PI_BASIS 2004_1_620 to PI_BASIS 2005_1_620 on an R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x 2.00 System.
Using the SAINT tool, I am bringing in the SAPKINBB7A OCS package. I have tried the following queues:
SAPKINBB7A by itself
SAPKINBB7A with follow-up patches SAPKIPYJ51 to 3
SAPKINBB7A with follow-up patches SAPKIPYJ51 to 7
Each time, I get an IMPORT_PROPER failure:
Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER
Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE
Return code: 0012
Error message: OCS Package ALL, tp step "N", return code 0012
The error has the symptom of notes 794802 and 751864. However, the 751864 code is already present in the system before I begin.
If anyone has seen this particular set of circumstances, I would appreciate the input.
Regards,
JohnHello,
My SPAM/SAINT is updated to the latest level (patch 20). My Kernel is patched up to level 129.
I tried the Extras >> Ignore generation errors. However, this simply returned the message, "No generation errors found".
After further review of the logs, etc. I came across note 903242 which described the problem perfectly. After applying the suggested solution, the support packs proceeded to the next step.
Thank you for your help.

NW70 EHP1 Update Problem w/SPAM/SAINT
Hello,
We have followed the guide for NW 7.0 EHP to update our system from NW 7.0 SPS18. The kernel update appears to be successful, and system -> status tells us that we are on the 701 kernel.
However, we are having trouble in SPAM/SAINT. We've downloaded the latest 701/34 kernel and attempted to update spam, but once the update completes and we restart spam, it is still at 700/34 (not 701/34).
Furthermore, we are able to load the 701 support packs from EPS/in, however, they never appear in SPAM or SAINT, and therefore they cannot be added to a queue and applied to the system. SAINT complains that the components are "701" and basically are not appropriate to install in a "700" system.
Obviously we are missing something here in the update process. What does it take to get SAINT/SPAM to recognize the 701 support packs? We've read through many docs and notes and have had no success.
Thank you. Thanks for your help so far.

SPAM / SAINT for EHPI-SPS5
Experts,
I am trying to go for EHPI- SPS4 to EHPI-SPS5. For ABAP, I would be using SPAM for importing ABAP support packs. I could see new SPAM/SAINT for 700/701/710/711 versions.. Which version would be appropriate for this situation?
Thanks,
RajHi Raj,
If your system is on EHP1 SP4 and SPAM version 35/36 then you can upgrade it to EHP1 SP5.
Thanks
