Spam sms

blocking "unknown numbers" one by one is no longer enough 'coz i keep getting spam sms from "new" numbers.   is there an app that puts spam sms in a separate inbox just like email. you do not want to "blocK" them coz you may get sms from your friends who are not yet in contacts, so you still want to check that spam  inbox, afterwards you can just "clean" all at once just like in email.   i know ios does not support this feature yet, but is there an app like on android ?
ios needs to have this feature in next version.

I also received this message: "Ihre Nummer gewinnt heute! Gehen Sie auf http://www.apfel.ch.gewinner.us und geben Sie den Code: 5138 ein, um Ihr kostenloses Produkt zu erhalten!" The number sending this was a USnumber: +1 (832) 955 4979.
Maybe someone can help find out down who sends this and how they got my number!
Thanks

  • How to block spam sms in iPhone for India? Any solution?

I get far more annoyed with text message spam than I do with email spam. My iPhone (unlocked) dings every time I receive a text message, and I check it as soon as I can. I really, really resent the intrusion when it’s spam. And of course there’s the cost. I don’t pay per text message, but when I am in international roaming I do. I searched every nook and cranny on the iPhone to find a way to block the spam, to no avail. Suggestions in different web forum like contacting the service provider (in my case its Vodafone India) did not help. My friends using other mobile service companies like Airtel says the situation is the same. So no point changing service provider. There is one application iBlacklist which I purchased but was a waste of 2 dollars as it does not work in India (see the complaints of the cheated customers in the app store). Is there any iphone application which will allow me to block the spams while still able to receive sms from friends and relatives. I know that my issue is not a new one but honestly, I have tried out everything and have not found an effective solution that works in Indian setting. Many thanks for your suggestions.

I am lucky lucky because up to now I have had very few Spam SMS'.
I give out my cell phone number as little as possible.
The following article may give you some tips about prventing spam SMS:

  • Spam SMS on my iphone

I've been recently receiving a spam SMS which reads: "Please keep this message. Sender: IMEI:[IMEI number]"
It's already a bother as I receive a total of 40+ SMS since yesterday. Need help here please? Thanks!

Contact your carrier about these. Spam in some countries are illegal.

  • Spamming Sms, Laggy Phone, IOS 5.0.1??

    So, down to the point;
I updated my Iphone software a little over two weeks ago i would say, since updating the Phone, my Sms alert does nothing but spam. It must ring out over 5 times in some cases, with my phone causing Lag.
I first noticed the issue when i was at college, my phone started doing it multiple times, then 3-4 times, until it is now doing it around 5-6 times.
    Here's my problem
I'm so fed up, of having to read through the discussions, with so many of these issues to hear absolutely nothing back from Apple - this is totally unjustified considering how many people have this problem
The fact that, whenever i take up the time to update the software to apperently 'benefit' myself, i always come away with some sort of issue, which in most cases does not get sorted.
The fact that, one day it spammed so much my phone lagged everytime, and in fact froze for a significant amount of time that i felt turning it off would do the world of good; Tell me, if my phone breaks because of that, will you fix it?
    Options
    One of two things:
You can either: Turn your phone off and on, as soon as you notice the issue
    OR..
You can go to settings > notifications > messages > Turn off "View in lock Screen.
Both Options are inconveniant for sure; So Apple, instead of me doing the research into how to solve the issue, can you please just sort it out.
On a higher note. I love this phone, and everything else about it. (and i only have the 3gS !!!)

You're not talking to Apple here. This is a user-to-user forum. The reason that you don't see reponses from Apple is because Apple doesn't participate here. If you want Apple Technical Support, you need to contact them directly.
You have a couple of options. You can attempt, with the help of other users here, to troubleshoot your phone. Or, you can take it to an Apple Store and have the folks at the Genius Bar see if they can help you out.
It's unclear from your post exactly what is happening. In one place, you appear to be saying that you are getting text spam. If you are getting unwanted texts, you need to contact your carrier about blocking options. If the proplem is something else, you need to give more details. Have you tried resetting your phone by pressing and holding the Home and power keys until the silver apple appears?

  • My Skype account used to send spam SMS, I was char...

Over the past week, while I was on holiday and off the internet, my Skype account was subject to unauthorised access. The unauthorised user enabled auto-recharge, and used the account to send ~ 600 SMS messages. My Paypal account, and so my credit card, was charged three times.
I used Live Chat tech support, but the scripted nature of the chat felt terrible. I felt like I had to demonstrate that the pattern of use of the account was suspicious when it was obviously spam, with dozens of SMS sent in the same minute. The representative wouldn't, or wasn't allowed to, answer questions like "Is this a known problem with Skype?", and wouldn't/couldn't tell me when the SMS were sent... although the menu options he suggested for viewing the detail of my account history didn't exist in Skype on my Mac. I was also told I wouldn't qualify for a refund for the unauthorised payments because my account had been subject to unauthorised access more than once (although he wouldn't/couldn't give me dates).
He copied & pasted (or typed at 1800wpm) a set of generic security tips, which I follow already, and when asking security questions to reactivate my account, asked several times for details about my credit card - which I don't think I've ever attached directly to my Skype account.
I hated the experience, I don't feel I got answers to any of the questions I asked about Skype security, and I've lost a lot of confidence in Skype as a result.
So apart from anything else I want to know why account features like SMS sending or recharge can't be disabled when it looks like accounts are being used for spam? How about email confirmation of actions like enabling auto-refresh? If the amount spent on my account goes from £4 in 12 months to £34.50 in 6 days, why is that not flagged somehow?
Look after yourselves people, because it feels like maybe Skype won't be looking out for you!

    Hi there,
I just got the same issue, seems there is a heavy security problem with our Skype accounts. In two days time, 185 sms were sent using my account, fyi, here are some of them:

I sent a complaint to Skype today, I guess there's little hope on a refund... changed my password and stopped to automatic recharge, we'll see what happens in the following days.

  • Re: Spam SMS??

I'm getting repeated "spam" type SMS messages on my phone.  How do I stop it?  My regular e-mail is through Road Runner and my phone account is through Verizon.
I can block through e-mail but not phone messages???
    Anyone?

Hi jsoak and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
There is an option to block SMS but it would block all incoming texts.
If you are receiving SMS that you feel is spam, you should contact your wireless service provider.
Thank you and have a great day!

Hi there "T"... we had the same problem with our Smasung Galaxy note at one stage. • Unwanted SMS without number (without using iMessage)

    hi all!
A few months back, I began receiving spams (unwanted sms) on my phone, from websites and stuff, and I found out that they were coming through iMessage and that there was nothing to do about it.
But it's been a few weeks now that I have been receiving sms that are not iMessages without a number (coming from an adult website that I had never heard of, honestly).
In France you can report spam SMS but you have to give the number that texted you. In that case I can't even find it because it's only the name of the website (B*naughty not to mention) that appears, as if I had that number in my contacts, which I don't.
So my problem si that I would like to report that spam but I am unable to find out the phone number they are texting me from.

Again, SMS messages are a carrier feature. They have nothing to do with iMessages nor Apple. As as deggie said it is quite possible and common for a spammer to hide their phone number.
This is again something you will need to try to work out with your carrier. No one here can help with this nor can Apple.
    Regards.

  • Can I block a spam text on the 4s

I am getting many Spam texts from 6250. Is there anyway to block a number?

If in the US, sending Spam SMS's is illegal. If on AT&T, forward the Spam SMS to 7726, you'll receive a reply asking for the number the Spam came from. I'm sure the other carriers in the US have a similar function.

  • Receiving Spam Text Msgs

Every once in a while I would get one SMS message from an unknown number which was spam.  Today, for the last 4-5 hrs, I've been receiving numerous spam SMS msgs from 2 area codes in the Atlanta, GA area that are 3 different mobile numbers, and some of which are from the same repeating mobile number.  Is there a way to block any spam text messages?  I've just been deleting them, but didn't know if you can filter or block SMS msgs like you can with emails.  I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 through AT&T.  Thanks!

Main menu go to Options, Security Options, Firewall.  You can block the numbers there

  • Has anyone else received this recently?

It is obviously a scam but I literally was just trying to unlock my iPhone and this popped up on the screen. I am concerned that my iPhone's security might have somehow been compromised for the scam to access my entire screen rather than just coming in a text message like usual?

It's a spam SMS Flash message.
    Just ignore it.

  • Received weird text message

I just received a text message from the number 1-(200)-100-003, and it contained the following:
Does anyone know what this is? Should I delete it and move on? Was this intended to be a legitimate text, from a legitimate sender, or just spam?

Report unwanted ("spam") SMS and MMS type messages to your cellular provider. Contact your carrier for additional details.
Look in the Messages conversation thread to determine if a message was sent via iMessage. Messages sent via iMessage are labeled as "iMessage" above the message in the text field. SMS and MMS type messages read "Text Message" instead.

  • I received this awesome scammer text MSG:  Congrats! Your Mobile number just won US$900,000 in the ongoing Apple Inc. Mobile Promo. For more info and claims

Is there people I should report this to? The phone number was 00353862051168.
    <Email Edited by Host>

Report to your carrier. In the US, it is illegal to send spam SMS's & the carriers(in the US) will block the sender.

  • Is there a way to bar text messages from certain phone numbers?

I keep getting junk text messages and would like the ability to treate text messages from certain numbers as junk. I think this is an increasing issue and it would be great if messages could bar the SMS or move them to a junk folder like email. It would also be useful if this could be linked to iCloud and the barred list shared amoungst users.
Does any know if this functionality exists already?

The only way SMS's can be blocked is through your carrier, there is no other way. So, contact your carrier to see if they offer SMS blocking.
Note: In the US, SPAM SMS's are illegal.
