SPAM to my unused iCloud email.

I've started receiving SPAM to my iCloud email despite this address never being used. Before this week I've only ever received emails from Apple/iTunes. I'm certain that I haven't given away my address and its not one that could be assumed to be in use. So have Apple had a security breach?

Hi Julian,
I disagree as this spam also came to an alias of my mac.com email address and this is a pretty unusual and weired combination of characters combined with underscore and such. I also disagree for the reasons that my wife has received spam the same day and her last name is nothing you would guess or come across running a nice randomizer.
There is something going on which is beyond brute force guessing and I'd like to know, what!
I agree with Russellmilne
thanks

  • I received a spam message from my iCloud email to my hotmail account - what gives?

So I have my Hotmail email and iCloud (@me.com) account on my iPhone. Suddenly today, I received an email from my @me.com account - to my Hotmail account - this is very odd as I rarely-to-never use my iCloud email account. So I have a feeling either A. it was a genuine security breach or B. it's some weird hoax.
Yes, I know many people spam with names that look similar etc - but I've checked the message headers - and they appear like a legitimate message. Also, I replied to the message - and received it in my @me.com account. I'm not some n00b who calls the help desk - but was wondering if anyone else had this issue today...
I've included the message header below - *note that I've replaced my real email address with 'main_user'

email on icloud is very very slow.  It takes over one minute of "loading" before I can see the mail in my inbox AND everytime I go to a new folder it "loads" for 20-30 seconds.  Basically icloud email is unusable. Is there a setting I need to check? or some fix to this?

I know absolutely nothing about your PC, without such information it is hard to make a suggestion.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.

  • Unsolicited explicit spam email to an iCloud email address

I've been getting explicit spam email to my iCloud email address from a site in the USA for over a month. And no I haven't signed up for something and am not admitting it............and I'm in Australia so any "benefits" of the site are a long way away.
I've tried contacting the sender but because I've never used the iCloud account (my email is a me.com account) it's being rejected.
How can I delete the iCloud side of my without affecting the me.com email address ?
I believe that the iCloud user name may well exist with someone else in the USA because I've been told that is possible - anyone else know this ?
Any advice welcome...it's ceased being funny.

If it's always from the same sender, set up an email rule on icloud.com to send email from the sender to the trash.  This explains how to set up an email rule: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a3f8a.

  • HT4759 I'm getting a lot of spam in my icloud account and would like to change my icloud email address, how can I do this?

After having a mac.com email for nearly 10 years I fell for a scam email and now am getting spammed daily in my email account.  I use this email account for everything and would like to either block the spam emails - although that's hard since they change their email address daily - or just get a new icloud email address.  I've researched this and have not found this easy.  Any suggestions on how to change my icloud email account? Keep in mind all my devices are connected through this email including iTunes.  Any help is appreciated - thanks!

To get a new iCloud address you would have to create a new iCloud account and migrate your iCloud data to the new account.  If you want to do this, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, and when prompted about what to do with the iCloud data choose Keep on [My iDevice].  Then set up a new iCloud account with a new ID, turn you iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted choose Merge to upload your data to the new account.  When you turn Mail to On you will get a new @icloud email address (@mac and @me addresses are no longer available).  Once your data is in the new account, you can just delete the old account from your other devices without saving the data on the device, then sign into the new one and the migrated data in the new account will be synced back to them.
If you need to, you can change your iTunes ID to this new email address.  This guide explains how to change an Apple ID name, but you can follow this and edit the primary email address instead to change it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40.

  • Getting a ton of spam on my iCloud email account. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Probably about 7emails a day at this point!

Me too. Started yesterday, maybe the day before. I get lots of spam to my gmail account but its filtered well, and I've been intensely careful about who I give my icloud email address to - if I think it might result in spam I use my gmail one.
Can I cloud mail filter at the server level?? My iphone/ipad doesn't seem to filter at all and I don't use a desktop computer anymore.

  • My iCloud email is being spammed every day now.

I'm posting this merely to gather other users' experiences with iCloud mail recently.  I used to brag zealously that Apple's .Mac/MobileMe/iCloud mail was fantastic because I rarely received Junk Mail and when I did, it was forwarded to [email protected] to rarely return.  As of less than a month ago, my email address has been oblitereated with spam daily. It started with 5-10 a day and is now 1 every few minutes throughout the day. I'm doing the recommended "Mark As Junk" and "Forward As Attachment" to [email protected], but there's been no mercy.
What has been your experience with your iCloud email service recently?

I've been bombarded by SPAM to mail the past month ... it has gotten worse the last few weeks. I am using trial software called SPAMsieve --- which costs $30, but I can't imagine why Mail/icloud cannot handle the SPAM without me having to purchase a plug-in. The SPAM coming through is so obviously spam ... it is not even close to being questionable as being otherwise.

  • HT4899 I have NEVER used my icloud email address and am now getting spam mail to services I have NEVER signed up to.  Should I conclude from this that Apple have sold my details on?

I have NEVER used my icloud email address and am now getting spam mail to services I have NEVER signed up to.  Should I conclude from this that Apple have sold my details on?
To tell me to mark it as spam is just not good enough.  I do not want this rubbish cluttering my inbox.

Nobody want to receive spam, but it's a fact of life. Apple is certainly not selling your address on to spammers, and it's possible that the spammer has been guessing at possible addresses and has hit on yours.
A good third-party program for dealing with spam is SpamSieve - after a training period it's very good at identifying spam and shunting it to a Spam folder where you can check it and delete at your leisure. It works with iCloud.

  • My icloud and Apple ID aren't the same email address. My phone wont let me change my icloud email. I don't know the password to my icloud account, and every time I try to email myself the password, it doesn't go through.

My icloud and Apple ID aren't the same email address. My phone wont let me change my icloud email. I don't know the password to my icloud account, and every time I try to email myself the password, it doesn't go through.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your Apple ID and iCloud email address don't need to be the same, you can't change an iCloud email address.
Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.

  • How do I change icloud email when my apple ID has been updated to new email? Because of the update on apple ID, when I try to delete icloud account I have to put in the password, and it says username or password is invalid (because no longer apple ID).

How do I change icloud email when my apple ID has been updated to new email? When I try to delete icloud account (in settings-icloud-delete account) I have to put in the password for the apple ID of my old email address, which is no longer my apple ID, and it says username or password is invalid (I'm guessing because that is no longer my apple ID).

You will wait for the rest of your life. You need to fix it; no one else will. To turn off "Find my iPhone" and its associated Activation Lock you need the Apple ID and password that were used to turn it on. If you know the Apple ID you can contact Apple Account Security and have them reset the password (after you prove you are the rightful owner of that Apple ID). see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.
If you don't know the Apple ID the phone is permanently unusable.

  • Can I have more than one iCloud email address and if so how do I create it

I have multiple businesses and would like to create a second iCloud email.  Is that possible and if so will it sync to my previous one or can I sync it on the Iphone?  Thank you

You can add up to three 'email aliases' to your present account - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account, move it to another account, or reactivate it if you delete it.
    More information on aliases here:
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a490a
Alternatively you can create a new Apple ID and use it to open a new iCloud account which you can sign into in System Preferences (or Settings)>Mail, Contacts and Calendars. This secondary account can sync data between its own online account and your Mac, though it cannot use PhotoStream. Data entered in one account won't appear in the other online, though both appear in alongside each other on your Macs or devices.

  • How can I delete my iCloud email accounts?

How can I delete my iCloud email accounts? I no longer own any apple devices and find that the email is at best unreliable. Also, I am having to deal with a good portion of daily tasteless spam content at the original @me.com address. As I no longer have any apple devices I wouldn't mind having the whole iCloud account deleted. I have already erased all of my information from the icloud.com site.

Then that is all you can do.
You currently can not delete an iCloud account.

  • How to convert a new Apple ID into a iCloud email alias?

    Howdy,
Just a few weeks ago, I created a second MobleMe accout for my daugher via my MobleMe family plan. The reason was that her orignal MobleMe email ([email protected]) address seemed a bit childish to her and she wanted a new "more professional" sounding address. At first I tried to create an email alias, but discovered that new alias creation had been stopped due to the looming iCloud launch, so I used one of my unused family plan accounts to create "[email protected]." Took some fooling around to get mail on her macbook to send & receive from both... but it worked and I was once again, the family IT hero!
Okay, now that iCloud has launched, and we are converting over to iCloud I wondered what to do about my daughters two email addresses. I looked around for information about just converting both xxxx & yyyy to iCloud, so my daughter could receive both emails from the same iMac mail account... but I can find nothing about that option on the inter tubes so I figured that option was unsupported.
Next I wondered if email aliases had come back, and they have! Cool, just convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]... but alias, you can't delete an Apple ID and I assume that I won't be able to create [email protected] as an alias as it is it's one Apple ID (otherwise, there would be a really big security hole in iCloud email ;).
What to do? Well, I can think of the following options, in order of what would be most user friendly to my daughter:
    1. Convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]. This would be nice because I could simplify my daughters email set up (just one account, not two). Trouble is, I don't know how to do this and/or it just can't be done.
    2. Create a new alias for [email protected]; [email protected]. Kind of junky as "yyyy" is pretty obvious (if you knew what it was), and [email protected] is already "out there."
    3. Create two accounts on my daughters macbook; one for [email protected] and the other for [email protected]. This ***** because she'd have to logout/login to check mail on both accounts.
So... their must be a simpler way, right Apple? If so, please advise!
