SpamAssassin's AWL database growing and growing

I know that this is a known problem, but maybe someone has found a solution in the meantime that did not came to my attention:
I'm using the auto whitelist feature of SpamAssassin. Unfortunately I'm forced to erase the entire database from time to time, since there seems to be no auto maintenance - it grows and grows (reaches quickly 20 MB+).
Is there a way to search the AWL list for e-mail addresses used only one or two times and remove exactly these ?

    I had something similar with 9i a long time ago. I was just using it locally, but it repeatedly kept trying to access the internet, but was blocked, so it kept retrying and writing to the alert log until it grew so big that it filled the hard drive. You might check your files and see exactly what is growing, check your alert log, then deal with the problem, by either disabling something or granting access or whatever is appropriate.

  • Current Open Cursors Count growing and growing

    Current Open Cursors Count appears to be a cumulative count and always growing since instance is started.
    Warning threshold of 1200 occurs quickly and regular warnings appears on OEM.
    (Oracle 10.1.0.4 on RHEL4AS Linux fresh install)
    The value reported on OEM correspond to:
    select name,value from v$sysstat where name like '%cursors current%';
    result: opened cursors current 194209
    Current open cursors are not
    select count(*) from v$open_cursor;
    which returns a more reasonable value: 293
    Any ideas about that ?
    Nicolas

    i have a tar opened on this .. its a bug with the database.
    After finding the query that OEM runs against the db, you
    will find that the stats the db is gathering at the database level are wrong .. they are cumulative. So until they patch the db, the metric in OEM is useless. Remove the warning/critical levels in the manage metric screen.
    NOTE: they dont use v$open_cursors .. that would be to easy :-)

  • Each Time Machine backup grows and grows. How do I stop this?

    Hi everyone. In basic terms, let's say that my external LaCie 3TB hard drive has 2TB of data. This 2TB includes my Time Machine backup. That means that I have 1TB of free space. My last backup was one week ago (I don't keep my external HD hooked up because of travel and I don't care for so many frequent backups). Right now I am backing up, and the backup is 30GB larger than last week. THERE IS NO WAY I MADE 30GB OF CHANGES IN THIS PAST WEEK! At the most, I probably made 1GB of changes. This situation has happened before, so it seems that with each backup (every time I reconnect my external HD for the sole purpose of backing up... Again, I don't leave my HD connected so I back up manually whenever I feel like it, instead of automatic), my data seems to have grown by dozens of GB. Dozens! I'm gonna run outta space soon if this keeps up.
    I've read a number of threads on this topic and checked out Pondini.org but my one question does not seem to be answered:
    How do I stop my backups from growing so big when I know for a fact I did not make big changes?
    This does not equate. If I made 1GB of changes (I'm guessing), then why does Time Machine back up an additional 29GB?
    I'm considering ditching Time Machine and backing up totally manually, like, dragging/copying/pasting files and folders from my laptop into my external HD. At least that way I can control and understand that 2TB of data means 2TB, not: "Surprise! 2.03TB... 2.5TB... 2.75TB and mysteriously growing!"
    Any help would be appreciated, please. Also, I don't know code and I can't do open-source stuff and I don't know jargon. I also don't do advanced stuff like Parallel (I don't know what that is). If you could please help a dummy like me with plain-speak, that would be beyond awesome. Thanks!

  • Mail.app and AB Memory Usage Growing and Growing

    I've noticed this over the past week, but I don't know what could have triggered it. Both Address Book's and Mail's memory usage are growing out of control. Since I can easily not run AB much, it's not a big deal, but Mail.app is my preferred email application and I need to run it all the time.
    When I start Mail.app, it's around 65M RSIZE, but if I leave it running for a few hours, it quickly balloons up to 2+GB in RSIZE. I'm sure it'd keep getting bigger if I didn't restart it.
    This is with one account (Exchange) on a 6,2 MacBook Pro. I'm not currently using any plugins for Mail.app.
    Any idea what might be causing these problems, how I can help diagnose it, and how I might be able to fix them?
    Thanks,
    Pete

    You need to delete the old background jobs by scheduling SAP_REORG_JOB, is part of the housekeeping jobs, these will trigger program RSBTCDEL.

  • Reverse database mirroring - and is this the right approach?

    Here is my scenario. I have 2 database servers, P and M, to serve our production website. P = Principal; M = Mirror.
    After some time my Principal crashes. No problem, I've got M, it's been synchronizing, and it has all latest data. So I repoint my production web server to hit the Mirror. Still, all is good.
    Now comes the part where I'm fuzzy, and I need to know if my understanding is correct...
    The Principal comes back online, but my website is still pointing at the Mirror. I want to repoint the site back to Principal. But P now has old data. Maybe it's been down 3 days and M has 100,000 new records that don't exist in P. When P came back online,
    did transaction logs begin shipping from M to P to get P back in sync? Would it do that if a Witness were in place? How does P get caught up with all latest data? Do I have to do a full backup and restore from M to P? Is there a way this can be set up to just
    gracefully (or even easy manual) get P updated and synced? Can the Principal/Mirror roles be easily swapped between the 2 servers? Does that happen automatically with a Witness in place?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    First, mirroring is being removed for "AlwaysOn" technology.  I would not recommend using it in SQL 2012.  However, if you are talking about prior versions, then...
    When the failover occurs, the old mirror, now primary, attempts to send updates back to the old principal, now mirror.  This is completely automatic and requires nothing manual to happen.
    However, if the now mirror is down for a long period of time, the transaction log on the principal will continue to grow and grow until it is able to deliver the transactions to the mirror.
    You can setup your website with a "Failover Partner=" in the connection string and the failover/failback will be completely invisible to your application.

  • AMM Shrink and grow question

    Hi,
    i've 11.2 Database.
    I know that using AMM, Oracle manages sga and pga together.
    But why shink and grow (sga pools) operation impact only shared and buffer and not also the pga?
    An example, I've 5Gb of AMM, looking AWR, Oracle set shared pool to about 1,9Gb, buffer to 1,1Gb (sga target around 3,3Gb) and the results to PGA.
    Looking Memory Dynamic Components in AWR, i see that shrink/grow operation uses only shared and buffer pool and not the PGA that is not used.
    Why this?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.What I understood from your question is that you dont see reallocation of PGA as you see in SGA resizable components.
    [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28310/memory003.htm] this  describes how the PGA is allocated.
    Unless there is pressure on oracle to release the memory from PGA to allocate to SGA or vice versa you will not see the change in memory allocation for PGA

  • Grow and Shrink the gallery's "mainImage"

    Grow and Shrink the gallery's "mainImage"
    I may pursue another option with the
    Class on trigger
    In this sample, a CSS class is set on the trigger to alert the user that something happens on the element. This is set as an option in the constructor.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var highlight_tooltip = new Spry.Widget.Tooltip('highlighttrigger', '#classonme', {hideDelay:500, hoverClass:"enlarge"})
    </script>
    We have the main image in the photo gallery at full size.
    This is the image placeholder called "main image".
    Currently it is looks like this:
    <img id="mainImage" alt="main image" src=""/>
    I assume we add a mark-up similar to the icon grow effects code.
    So I will take a stab it now;
    <div id="Photograph" spry:region="dsPhotograph" onclick="HandlePhotograhClick('{ds_RowID}');" onmouseover="GrowPhotograph(this.getElementsByTagName('img')[0], '{@thumbwidth}', '{@Photographheight}');" onmouseout="ShrinkPhotograph(this.getElementsByTagName('img')[0]);"> <img src="galleries/{dsGalleries::@base}{dsGallery::Photograph/@base}{@Photographpath}" alt="Photograph for {@Photographpath}" width="Not Sure" height="Not Sure" id="tn{ds_RowID}" style="left: 0px; right: 0px;" onmouseover="this.style.cursor='pointer'" /> </div>
          <p class="ClearAll"></p>
    //need to look at ClearAll
        </div>
    //Now Add stuff the gallery.js
    // Show the image of the current selected row inside the dsPhotos data set.
    function ShowCurrentImage()
         var curRow = dsPhotos.getCurrentRow();
         SetMainImage("galleries/" + dsGalleries.getCurrentRow()["@base"] + "images/" + curRow["@path"], curRow["@width"], curRow["@height"], "tn" + curRow["ds_RowID"]);
    //I Need a variable like;
    ["@bigPhoto"]
    //Now I need add a function
    function HandlePhotographClick(id)
         //StopSlideShow();
         //dsPhotos.setCurrentRow(id);
         //ShowCurrentImage();
            //call Photograph grow ???
    // Trigger the animation of the Photograh growing to it's next largest size.
    function GrowPhotograph(img, width, height)
         Spry.Utils.addClassName(img, "inFocus");
         img.style.zIndex = 150;
         var id = img.getAttribute("id");
            //ADD This to the function GrowThumbnail in Gallery.js

         //var tx = (gThumbWidth - twidth) / 2;
         //var ty = (gThumbHeight - theight) / 2;
         var pwidth = Math.floor(width * 1.75);
         var pheight = Math.floor(height * 1.75);
         var px = (pThumbWidth - pwidth) / 2;//need to check this may not need
         var py = (pThumbHeight - pheight) / 2;//need to check this
         SizeAndPosition(id, tx, ty, twidth, theight, function(b){gBehaviorsArray[id] = null;});

    function ShrinkPhotograph(img)
         Spry.Utils.addClassName(img, "inFocus");
         img.style.zIndex = 1;
         var id = img.getAttribute("id");
    //Need to look at this stuff below, any input from anybody would be good....
         SizeAndPosition(id, 0, 0, gThumbWidth, gThumbHeight, function(b){gBehaviorsArray[id] = null; Spry.Utils.removeClassName(img, "inFocus");});

  • Adobe Reader C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Reader\9.3\ARM folder very large - 15GB and growing

    Hi,
    I am looking into an issue on a Windows 2008 Server running Citrix XenApp.
    The folder: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Reader\9.3\ARM is currently 15GB and growing.
    There are sub folders for about 250 user names under this ARM folder - each of varying sizes up to 250MB each...
    There are also 78 folders with numerical names ranging from 579 to 32742 totalling 125MB.
    From Google it would appear ARM is something to do with Adobe Reader Manager and automatic updates or something...?
    But why does this server have sub folders for 250+ users and can I delete them as the server is running short on space???
    Many Thanks,
    Anthony.

    There have been quite a few updates after 9.3.0, but as far as I know ARM should not create those subfolders under each User name.
    If you (or Users on this system) do not attempt or do not intend to attempt to install those updates, you can safely delete this whole folder and disable ARM by setting bUpdater value to 0 in the policy registry for Adobe Reader 9 - please search this forum for detailed information on this registry.

  • Growing and shrinking text

    hi,
    does anyone know how to make text grow and shrink? i'm using oprea web browser, and when i place my mouse over some buttons text appears and then moving it off the button the text shrink, it does not appear and disappear, but actually grows out and shrinks in from a point. does anyone know how to do this?
    Thank you.

    hi,
    thank you for the response, i know about the listener, question was really regarding how to resize text so that it resizes smoothly, looks like it's growing and shrinking not just one second it's size 10 and then size 1, i want to make it flow from 10 to 1 for example, like opera browser, should i use a thread or is there a better way?
    Thank you.

  • Database Growth and Grooming Errors

    About 3 weeks ago our Service Manager database began to grow about 1GB per day. We've
    been in production for about 3 years and the database size is 140 GB and now
    it's rapidly increasing. There have been no recent changes to the environment,
    however, we are receiving errors related the grooming failing.<o:p></o:p>
    Event ID 10880<o:p></o:p>
    Service Manager CMDB Grooming failed.<o:p></o:p>
    Grooming Type: StagedChangeLog<o:p></o:p>
    The following error was encountered:<o:p></o:p>
    Timeout
    expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the
    server is not responding.<o:p></o:p>
    Event ID 3224<o:p></o:p>
    LfxGroom.Start failed. Exception type:<o:p></o:p>
    DatabaseLayerException<o:p></o:p>
    Exception message:Command
    type:StoredProcedure<o:p></o:p>
    Command:[LFXSTG].Groom<o:p></o:p>
    Connection state:Closed<o:p></o:p>
    Event ID 10870<o:p></o:p>
    Mom failed
    executing SQL Job p_PartitioningAndGrooming. Details: Timeout expired. The timeout
    period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not
    responding..<o:p></o:p>
    I also noticed that the Transform.Common data warehouse job is in a failed state. When
    I attempt to view the properties the console crashes. Any thought on what may be
    causing the issue? Perhaps I need to manually initiate the grooming process?<o:p></o:p>
    Thanks,
    James<o:p></o:p>

    Hi,
    There are situations where Grooming for some or all WorkItem types may fail because of the fact that there are just too many entries to delete and the job takes more than 30 minutes (Workflow TimeOut) to complete. This may happen in some situations
    but the most common one is where the default grooming settings for the different WorkItems was changed and set too high for the environment to handle.
    In these situations you might need to manually run the Grooming Workflow (SQL Stored Procedure) for all or some WorkItems types.

    You may want to shrink SM_LOG.

    Please remember to backup your data before changing anything about the database.

  • Get DataBase Size and Compare it

    Hello Folks
    I'm trying to get SQL 2008 R2 database size and compare it with this code:
    $DBSize = Invoke-SQLCmd -Query "sp_databases" -Username "user" -Password "pwd" `
    -ServerInstance "localhost" | where-object {$_.database_name -eq "ABC"} | select database_size
    If(($DBSize | Out-String) -ge "5242880"){
    # Some action #
    But that don't return nothing... Some help !?

    Hi,
    I have no way to test this, but try adding -ExpandProperty to select.
    Also, I suggest getting rid of Out-String and using numbers instead.
    EDIT: Also, you may need to use a loop to check each returned size if the query is returning more than one database size.
