Spambots and Contact Forms

I see a lot of AS3 contact forms. They don't seem to have protection from spambots - is this not as much of an issue within flash as it is in standard html pages?

No, it's not as much an issue because in an HTML page, the bot can look for the form element, and from there they can see the url where the form submits, etc... That is all contained inside the swf in Flash, making it much more difficult.

New Domain Names and Contact Form Issue

Hello all,
I'm working for a client who is using one of the newer domain name extensions. It reads like this: www.COMPANYNAME.farm
The .farm is a new extension.
On my contact form I use the e-mail address [email protected]
The e-mails are never sent through. You can submit a form, it says it sends successfully, but the e-mail is never received.
Any ideas if adobe muse has troubles with the new 'non-standard' domain extensions?
Any other solutions?

Sounds like you are hosting on GoDaddy? If so, there are plenty of threads on here with the same problem.
Generally what you need to do is create a dummy hotmail address and list it first. [email protected], [email protected] and that will likely fix your problem. Kind of a crazy work around but that is a GoDaddy issue (if in fact you are hosting with GoDaddy).

Menus and Contact Forms

if you're using as2, flashkit.com has quite a few beginning
tutorial so it probably has dropdown menu tutorial that would work
for you.
if you're using as3, you'll just have to use google.
flashgods.org has a faq section that shows how to use a
contact or email form with flash for both as2 and as3.

CMS and contact form

Hello,
does anybody know about a CMS Software, which is affordable and fits to iWeb?
I need to integrate a news sheet in the website, maintenace should be done easy ba any authorized computer.
i am also looking for a contact form to be integrated, enabling visitor to fill adress field and send an eMail request. If there is a ready solution = fine. If not, how can i put it together by myself?

If you want a Newsletter, why not just use Pages if you have it? You can create something nice looking that is totally compatible with iWeb.
As far as the contact and feedback form goes go to http://www.wufoo.com or http://www.freedback.com. Freedback is good if you want something simple, but for something more stylish try out Wufoo. You can have whatever you want on the form and also choose your colours too. Then all you do is copy and paste the code into the web widget/html snippet at the bottom of iWeb and you have your form. Info is then e-mailed to you but is also stored on a database at Wufoo. You also have the option of re-directing people to Thank you page at your site.
Alternatively, you can hand code a feedback form for yourself straight into the html snippet and if you are using MobileMe you can e-mail the contents to yourself or if using a commercial server, set up formmail for your server and then use this option. I did that with my site and it works okay for me. After completing the form you are returned to a Thank You page for your formmail showing what you have entered and has been e-mailed.
If you don't know any html though, this is a little complex and you need to have some idea of what you are doing, so if you don't, then I would stick with Wufoo.

Inv_currency_code issue in projects customers and contacts form?

I am creating the projects using create project API (PA_PROJECT_PUB.CREATE_PROJECT) from 11i to R12.The data coming from 11i has the project currency code(INV_CURRENCY_CODE).I am passing this data to the API using record type (customer_tbl_type),but i cannot see the value in front end but the currency code is populating from the template instead of taking from the staging table.The base table is PA_PROJECT_CUSTOMERS and the field is INV_CURRENCY_CODE.
Navigation : (Projects-->Customers and contacts->code-->).
Eg:
The staging table has the currency field as 'USD' .The project which is created taking the value as "CAD' which is defaulting from the template from which the project created,but in my scenario this field should take the value from the staging table,i am passing the value from the staging table but its defaulting the value from the template?
Can anyone please let me know is there any setup issue or issue with the API or do i need to use update_Project api?

Check if XLACORE.plx and XLATACCT.plx library files are present in the environment you are working on.
Also check if the FND_INDICATOR_COLORS value is set to 'Y' , if not please do it.

AS2 contact form and php - works fine but only sends half of the text in the comments field ???

hi all - i have an AS2 contact form using php to send the info to my email address - it all works fine except this ..... rather than having an empty comments box in the flash movie i had added a whole bunch of feedback questions that the user can comment yes/no to in the comments box (my feedback questions were added into the input text box in cs3 so are there when the user opens the contact page .. i have set the maximum characters to 10000 so no worries that its that that is stopping it all coming through in the email ..... basically when i go to my form online and send it i get it through as an email but with only three quarters of the feedback text in it ...... i have tried a zillion ways a round this, tried other contact forms and php and always end up with the same problem ... any ideas any one ?

I, and my clients, want a VERY simple contact form hosting option...

There's no need for us to have data collected and analyzed. No need for yet another hosting service to store data we'll NEVER use.
I've already got a hosting service for my site. My clients already have hosting for their sites. None of us are willing to spend another
dime to have a second hosting system for anything. Don't care. Don't want it. LOVE the Muse forms and the ease with which I can
modify them to look the way I want them to, but that all adds up to jack squat if they don't work.
All we're looking for is a simple contact form that allows users to fill in a couple of form fields, add a little message and hit send.
My clients want to have at the most, about 5 different email addresses set up so they can keep the information organized a bit on their end.
They may get at most about 300-500 emails a month at a peak time of the year.
That's not too much to ask is it?
I mean, if I use the "Upload to FTP host" feature in Muse, what's so hard about adding a bit of code that uses that server space to pass along
a few messages to a mailbox?
Can't we just set up a BASIC contact form that is just creating an email and sending it to an email address with a preformatted message based
upon the form fields we add to the widget? Something like this:

For $15 dollars a month that I'm paying to use Muse, there oughta be something like that in the form widget panel! Dang!
Really have a bad taste in my mouth with this whole attempt to channel people into Business Catalyst... That might be great
for some of your customers, but odds are, not really... The majority of Muse users are likely to be designers that want to have
a bit more control over their clients image/brand, and want to have less painful ways of keeping up with the advancements in
webdesign/development without having to learn new code crap every few months!
So let's not be too greedy and accidentally paint some of your customers into a corner and try to get them to pay you more
money for services they don't need, and probably don't want.

use in designing websites, hate the idea of Business Catalyst. "Feels like a ball and chain, but worse because I have to pay for it."

Simple Muse Form Widget. Get on it! It would be VERY nice of you to do so!

I do agree and have posted a few times on this. It would be nice not to be tied down with another hosting subscription. It would be better if instead of having to pay for BC hosting with different plan pricing they could have different pricing for Muse with different feature options. I would pay more for Muse to use the form feature freely on any server I choose because like you said the form widget is great for making really custom forms, but that ease of use should come at a cost because it is so sought after.
I am getting sick of people wanting everything for free just because it is there and they want it so badly but think they shouldn't have to pay for it because it is not in their budget.
Muse should have different tiers with different feature options and not force BC on users. BC is a great solution for people without hosting or users that are not familiar with setting up their own servers but for the ones that do have their own servers and are comfortable with using them feel tied down.

Is it possible to create a contact form via Flash cs5.5 and package out app for desktop?

I need to create a desktop app for windows. Im using Flash cs5.5 and I wanted to know of an easy to way to create a simple contact form that would work once installed on a desktop/

If you want a contact form you can either use StageWebView or HTMLLoader to show an HTML page in your web server with a contact form.
Or you can create the form with Flash textfields and then send the whole thing with a POST request to a PHP script in the server, for example.

I use a widget contact form on my site. It appears and works in IE but does neither in FF 5. I can send the code if that'll help. Thanks. BTW - love Firefox.

Yes if you backed up your iPhone with iTunes to your Mac. You can restore your phone to the last backup:
Or with a iPhone backup viewer/restorer application like iPhone Backup Viewer or Mac iPhone Data Recovery. But the phone has to have been backed up with iTunes to the Mac.
Other possible applications can be found at MacUpdate.com by searching for iPhone recovery or iPhone backup, etc.
Change your Apple ID password so you wife can't log into your iCloud again and do the same thing.

hi everybody, im new to the site and relatively new to dreamweaver.
i have used a template for my website and edited all the relative information to tailor it to my business.
As i am not familiar with the contact forms i am struggling to find out how to make the form send the information to my email address as i have not got a clue if the contact form is coded correctly,
i would much appreciate any assistence given by any of you, as i am desperately in need of your expertice
i have copied what is in the code for the form, i was wondering if anybody could tell me if this code can be used or not

HTML forms don't do anything. You need a form-to-email processing script -- preferably one which conceals your e-mail address from harvesters and has built-in spam prevention.
Contact your web host and ask them if they have a script you can use. Hosts often provide scripts on their servers which you can activate through your Admin Panel or by directly referencing the script in your form's action attribute.
     <form action="path-to-form-on-server/form-to-email-script.php">
If your host doesn't provide scripts, ask them which server-side languages you can use (php, asp, asp.net, perl, coldfusion, etc...) so you can find a suitable script to use.

How to activate fields "Start Reason" and "End Reason" in "Contact" form?

Hello all,
We recently migrated HRMS from version 11.5.7 to *12.1.3*. In the previous version users filled the fields Start Reason and End Reason in the Contact form (PERWSDPC), section Contact Relationship.
In our 12.1.3 version these fields are read-only and I can not figure out how to activate them.
PS: I have populated the list of values that should be used in the above fields, using the form Life Event Reasons (Total Compensation: General Definitions: Additional Setup: Life Event Reasons) and setting the Type field value with Personal, but I don't know how activate the fields in Contact form.
Any suggestions?

Where are you publishing your site to? If MMe, then MobileMe does not support php and you don't need php to create a contact form - just good old html.
If you are uploading to a server/host such as GoDaddy, then you can use the FormMail option too, but you still need to write your own html code - others will not do it for you.
I would suggest that you visit this site - http://www.w3schools.com. This site tells you about how to write html code for most things, including contact and feedback forms. Look at this and then write your own code from this.
If you can't manage to do it, then I would suggest that you need to use something like http://www.wufoo.com or GoogleDocs - Google Docs is a good alternative.
Also, do a search of this forum for contact or contact and feedback forms where you will find lots of questions on this and where you will then find code examples that have been linked to.
If you try it yourself, you will learn more quickly rather than asking others to do it for you.
