Spamming, Bots and morever

Hello everyone. So I yesterday one user messaged me(She was not in my friend list) I replied hi. Today she started-lol, soo i have an idea if ure up for a lil fun ?  I thought she meant LIL WAYNE, so I replied nope, adding - do you mean Lil wayne? But her reply was-
lol i thought she was out of her mind at first, but its pretty cool actually. we work online doing private webcam shows which sounded nuts at first trust me. but i freakin luv it!!!   That was the WORST ANSWER SHE COULD HAVE EVER ANSWERED!  I hesitated... Took some clues from her chat and I ended up with botting and spamming/scamming  program. She replied messages like she had written this for ages and did not read my messages at all. Then she said that she will "ready" and she is waiting  to me in her private room. But as far as I knew that SHE WAS BOT here is my reply- I am not sure if I am interested in keeping touch with computer programs(bots).... message me when you become an Ex machina and then we might have a chance talk.
If you guys don't know what Ex machina is watch the movie it is great. Shortly it is a documentary about self intelect of robots who have body, face and everything like human and can make conversations without hesitaion.
I was happy to be messaged by a girl but after I found out her true face I was bit dissapointed...  I have only one female friend But she is the best

i have a problem with a bot that keeps spamming me named v(random numbers) this happens all the time i try blocking and reporting the person but the next day they have already made a new acount with a new name. this is so anoying i block them then they make a new account so they can keep spamming. this has to be a bot and each one says "[6/4/2015 12:34:15 PM] *** NEW VIDEO MESSAGE RECEIVED! VIEW AT [edited for security] ***" plz help the blocking didnt seem to work because they kept making new acounts.

  • Spam Bots and Hyperlinks

    I'm putting in email address' in our MUG's newsletter. In Pages I can create some text such as Chief Geek and in the hyperlink input mailto:[email protected] (Not real email address") to make it a live link. When I export to PDF the links work great in Preview what I'm wondering is if Spam Bots can pick up on the email address' when I do it this way? Otherwise I will have to change our address' to something more like
    [email protected] and have them remove the NoSpam part.
    Our PDF's are posted online on our website.

    Yes, the spam bots can pick it up. They can pick it up even if it is not a hyperlink in the pdf unfortunately.

  • E Mail Forms and Spam Bots

    I have created a form and using a PHP script to forward the
    form results to an e mail account. How protected is this from
    harvesting the e mail address by spam bots? If this is not the best
    way to go, any suggestions on a better method. I'm familiar with
    captcha but would prefer not to have to use this.
    thnx
    Fred

    If the email address is ONLY mentioned in the PHP script,
    it's completely
    secure.

  • Need to find a SPAM bot on the network

    How can I use my PIX-515e firewall to locate the source of a SPAM bot on a network? The PIX is running v6.3.5.

    How about creating an access list on your Inside interface, for traffic flowing from your internal network out to the Internet. Permit your internal mail servers to talk on smtp (port 25) outbound, and deny all other hosts. Then just look for the hosts that get DENYs on port 25.
    You could/should also be looking at an IPS solution, either Cisco's or open source (eg. Snort.) I'd also suggest looking at BotHunter, which is a customized version of Snort thats tuned to -just- look for Bots.

  • Spam bots & e-mail links

    Hi,
    if I add an unprotected e-mail address to my pages, it's a real gift for spam bots.
    Is a "masked" address safer? I mean, +"My Name"+ with "[email protected]" added as invisible URL? Will this masked address be found by spam bots, too?
    And is the only solution to shredder the mail address to +"my.e.mail (at) me.com"+ ?

    I've done it by using the HTML font code to change the font and color. It's a hit or miss thing. This demo page shows a snippet that I've applied it to:
    The code is as follows as displayed here: 2 ways to encode an email address
    <xmp>
    <a id='contactMe'><font color="#0033FF" size="3" face="Georgia">Email Me</font></a>
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    Assemble Obfuscated email address and set div id='contactMe' href
    ObsArray = new Array();
    ObsArray.push('mai');
    ObsArray.push('lto');
    ObsArray.push(':');
    ObsArray.push('my'); // your break up email address starts here
    ObsArray.push('name');
    ObsArray.push('@');
    ObsArray.push('me');
    ObsArray.push('.');
    ObsArray.push('com'); // your break up email address ends here
    function setContactMe() {
    var ObfuscatedHref = '';
    for (ii=0; ii<ObsArray.length; ii++) {
    ObfuscatedHref += ObsArray[ii];
    document.getElementById('contactMe').href=ObfuscatedHref;
    chkEmail = setInterval('checkEmail()', 100);
    function checkEmail() {
    if (document.getElementById('contactMe') != null) {
    clearInterval(chkEmail);
    }}</script>
    </xmp>
    *(Ignore the <xmp></xmp> tags when using)*
    See the code around the Email Me at the top? That's how to change the font, size and color. You can apply that to the test in a snippet. It would look like this: Email Me

  • Spam-bot protection

    How well does the spam bot protection on the registration page work? Do you guys still get a significant number of "illegitimate users" signing up everyday? My forum gets about 20 per day and it's not that popular, and I'm tired of deleting them all.

    Actually, I can count the spammers we've had since I added that on one hand (though I might have to cheat and use binary). It works very well so long as whatever you do is unique to your site. So whether it's a question that in itself contains the answer, a math problem, or an option box with the default set to failure (bots will often pick the default for unknown fields, that's the logic here), or whatever, it doesnt even have to be all that clever, you can stop most of your spam.

  • Blocking spam bots

    Skype needs to do a better job with their spam servers and filter Internet traffic for the end users. Afterall, Skype is owned and operated by Microsoft. Least they can do is upgrade their security appliances and block known bot nets. Least with Skype for business has a lot more security controls and there's absolutly no chat bots trolling our employees. I'm getting tried of blocking these creative automated bots.

    How can I block a restricted or unknown number from calling me?
    Sorry, we do not offer this service at this time.

  • Spam Control and a Personal Security protector

    I still use my old dinasour, AOL, (don't ask me why), and the Desktop AOL is not compatible with Snow Leopard, so the AOL spam Controls won't work. I can do a workaround by going to the internet and getting into AOL Mail, and do it that way, BUT IT'S A PAIN!!
    Does anyone have a favorite, reliable application I can buy or download that would prevent spam from getting into my email?? I am also looking for a personal security application...
    Suggestions, please?
    Paty

    Hi Paty!
    I'm still using AOL For Mac OSX Version 10.3.7; available from here AOL Downloads For Mac.
    At the bottom of the All-in-One Software column there is a link to legacy software which will start the download immediately.
    It has an excellent Spam filter and maybe will still be compatible with Snow Leopard.

  • Finally using SPAM quarantine and want to know how many e-mails are being released

    We have two C660s and one M660 and we are finally using the SPAM quarantine functionality on the M660 and so far it has been awesome.   For my pilot group I have the spam thresholds set as low as recommended by the GUI at 50 (positive) and 25 (suspected)...   First off, if I change these numbers will I see noticiable differences in what is allowed through and what isn't?
    My real question is, is there an easy way to see what mail is being released by users from the SPAM quarantine?  Originally I had a content filter setup that was working..   but now it appears that when users are releasing e-mails from the quarantine it is skipping any type of content filtering..  From what I can tell, e-mails are still being routed from the M660 to one of the two C660s for delivery..  but in the mail logs I see information like:
    Wed Aug 15 09:34:32 2012 Info: ISQ: Delivering MID 1592784 to ISQ (skipping work queue)
    And in Message Tracking I see:
    15 Aug 2012 09:32:23 (GMT -05:00)
    Message 116381462 was released from Spam Quarantine, IP address 10.25.211.100.

    Appreciate any input/feedback...
    Jason

    Hello Jason,
    one thing about the trhesholds, the defaults are 50/90 for suspected and positive spam, and that usually works for most customers, in some cases if still spam gets trough we suggest to modify that to 40/80, but you should not get any lower, as this will just increase the number of false positives. In general, the antispam engine delivers a value way above or below the thresholds, means scores are always either below 10 (no spam) or above 90 (spam), very few are inbetween this range, so usually the default setting works.
    About the information of which user released a message, there is unfortunately no direct way to get this done. You might try this approach:
    1. mail_logs: Look for the MID of the message when its getting injected to the SMA, note that this is not the same MID as in message tracking.
    2. mail_logs: Look for the message getting released, and note the time stamp:
    6 Aug 2012 13:29:21 (GMT) Start Message 10054459 ICID 0 release from Spam Quarantine
    3. Do a
    CLI: grep timestamp euqgui_logs
    with the timestamp you retreived  from the mail logs (just use the Day, hour, and minute part), this should get you the log lines for the particular minute, check them for the name of the user who was accessing the GUI at that time.
    Hope that helps,
    Andreas

  • HT4061 I am receiving return e-mails saying undeliverable mail was sent using my e-mail addy as the "from" addy. It is spam mail and some has been sent to U.S. military. It is not coming directly from my e-mail/ i-cloud account. How do I stop it?

    I am receiving returne postmaster e-mails saying e-mails were not deliverable, and some say they were blocked as being spam mail because they were sent to U.S. military addresses. The e-mails are coming from an outside source and are not being sent directly from my e-mail, but whoever is doing it is putty my address in as the sender. How do I stop this?

    at this point the best you could do would be to delete your email account, or ignore the emails

  • My mom's iphone is sending spam imessages and emails?

    So my mother has a iPhone 4, running iOS 5.0.1 I believe. Our service provider is Bell Canada.
    This afternoon I recieved an odd **iMessage** from my mother on my Iphone 4S, containing a link. Knowing that this was strange, I immediately responded to the message via the app Kik Messenger asking her what she sent me. As I suspected, she said she didn't send me anything via iMessage. On a hunch I checked my email, where I found three obvious spam **E-mail** messages sent roughly the same time. After informing her, she found that all of her contacts on her iPhone with email addresses attached had recieved spam e-mails, and those that had iPhones had also recieved similar spam iMessages via email.
    Basically its like that old "I love you" spam email message that if you open it it goes through and sends itself to your whole contact list, only it is somehow able to send both e-mails and iMessages. No SMS that I'm aware of.
    I'm going to get her to restore her phone from a back-up... but this boggles my mind. I'm having her change her passwords for both her email address and Apple ID, though I doubt that will actually do anything (at least it will make her feel better about the whole thing)
    How is this possible? Does anybody understand the relationship between iMessage, your Apple ID and your email address? .

    My girlfriend's iPhone just did this today, something about joining Vox me!, which she or I know nothing about.

  • Safari keeps re-routing to spam sites and opening spam windows. How do I fix this?

    Hi,
    recently Safari started having issues.  When I open a new window it re-routes itself to a random spam site.  I doesn't matter what website I'm going to and it doesn't happen every time, just at random.  Also, when I am on a website and I go to click on a link (again, doesn't matter what website or link..example: on msn and clicking on a news story) a window to a spam site will pop up instead.
    Tonight this spam window started popping up, I opened a new tab and this is what loaded:
    Has anyone run into such a problem before or has any ideas of how to fix it?  I tried re-installing safari once already and that didn't help.  Thanks,
    -Kate

    Look in your System Preferences > Accounts > Log-in Items and uncheck anything you see there that you don't use. Reboot.
    Use Spotlight or EasyFind to search for traces of the MacDefender Trojan and move to your Trash, reboot and see if your machine works and then Empty Trash.
    Some people may be satisfied that this is enough, but I wouldn't take any chances if you gave the malware/installer your Admin password.
    The next step would be to backup your files manually to a external drive. (not TimeMachine)
    Hold c and boot off the OS X installer disk that came with your machine,
    Select Disk Utility from the menu, select your drive and Erase > Security Option Zero > Format HFS+ Journaled (all data will be erased!)
    Come back in a hour (it takes a bit to Zero a drive) and quit Disk Utility and install OS X fresh again. Install your programs from fresh sources.
    Return your files from backup.
    Yes, it's a lot of work. If you did your backup correctly all your files can be returned to the machine and after a few days of retweaking things, entering serial numbers, wifi passwords, etc., you will be back to normal.
    You'll know you got all traces of the malware off your machine.
    To prevent this from reoccurring:
    The MacDefender and it's varients use a Javascript flaw, so no Javascript running in your browser = no MacDefender
    Safari can turn off Javascript but a lot of sites use it and going to the Preferences is a pain.
    1: Use the Firefox web browser instead, it has a confirmation window before a download occurs.
    2: Use the Firefox add-on "NoScript" and use Firefox toolbar customization option to drag a Noscript button to the toolbar for easy turning on/off all scripts and plug-ins on websites you choose on a per site basis. NoScript also has a lot of other "web cop" protection features as well that malware uses.

    3: Optional: For click happy types (kids) also install the Public Fox add-on and set a password on the downloads.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/public-fox/
    4: Optional: Add the Firefox add-on called Ad Block Plus, subscribe to the "Easy list" (nearly automatic)

  • Mail spam filters and phishing

    Yesterday's UK Sunday Times gave an email address to which sufferers were advised to forward bank phishing emails - it is, presumably, a bank sponsored site which allows them to try and trace and/or stem this ever increasing tide of spam.
    Most of these bank phishing emails are caught by me ISP before I even get them, but several do make it into my spam folder or in-tray. If the latter, I mark them as spam manually.
    If I were to forward the emails that do reach me (after being manually marked or automatically filtered as spam) to the suggested address, would that affect the "learning" process of my Apple Mail spam filter?
    I can't think how it could and I'm keen to help the banks reduce this tiresome avalanche of rubbish (which seems to be increasing) but I don't want to confuse my filtering process.
    Thanks.

    Thanks, mhunter, most helpful.
    The article, for those interested, is about 2/3 the way down this page:
    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2097-2382411.html
    and is entitled "Website that deals with dodgy emails".
    The Bank Safe Online website is at
    http://www.banksafeonline.org.uk
    but, even though obviously UK orientated, it has some good generic advice which would be valid in other countries.
    The email address to which UK victims can forward bank scam/phishing eMails (after they have been identified as spam of course is [email protected]
