Spamming video to husband's mail account

Hi there. My husband took a video of our son with my 3GS and sent it to his work email address.
It went through under my yahoo account and he got it. However, it keeps sending the video every couple of hours, sometimes two video emails at a time. I have tried deleting the video and the email is still being sent but only once in awhile.
Any clues on how to stop this from happening? There are no emails waiting to be sent. I don't have the exact size of the video as I have deleted it but it shows as about 2MB in my husbands mailbox.

This has been reported before with Yahoo's SMTP server.
Try deleting and recreating your Yahoo account with the iPhone's Mail client.

  • Spam being sent from my Mail account...

I am receiving e-mails in my Mail account saying that certain messages can not be sent and the message gives the reason but they are being sent by other names, not my own, using my e-mail address. I went and changed my password in icloud.com but the very next day, the same thing happened. How can I get this to stop. Messages being sent from my e-mail account by others that are not me?

Yes, I read in another post that if it was actually sent from my account, I would see the e-mails in my Sent folder which I do not and that someone just forged where the e-mails were sent from and there is nothing that can be done about that except to bacically ignore them. There are not too many of them anyways.
    Thank you for your answer.

  • My husband has an iPad and I just got one for me.  We both have the same e-mail address.  The message I get when I try to set my new one up is that the Apple ID is already in use.  How do I set up with our shared e-mail account

My husband has an iPad and I just got one for me.  We both have the same e-mail address.  The message I get when I try to initiate setup is that the Apple ID is already in use.  Any ideas on how to complete the setup of the new iPad since we both share the e-mail account?

If you selected open a new Apple ID account, go back a step and enter use existing Apple ID.
You will have to set up a separate iCloud account or your iPads will mirror each other.

  • I updated my iPhone and lost all photos, videos and e-mail accounts. How do I get them back?

I updated my iPhone yesterday (simply to get rid of the reminder that was bugging me).  The last time I updated the phone everything went fine, my settings, ringtones, messages photos etc all backed up perfectly.  This time around all my photos are gone, my videos have disappeared, ringtones are back at factory settings and my e-mail accounts are all gone.  I've also lost all my messages which is a real bummer because there were contact details in some of them.  I've tried restoring the phone from iTunes and going back to a previous backup but no joy.  Can anyone help?
Failing that can anyone tell how best to complain to Apple??? (Would anyone give a "s h one t" anyway!)  Aaaaggghhhh!

Pictures were never in iTunes.  iTunes is not a photo management program.  It is merely a tool that allows syncing of a specified folder to an iDevice.  Was the folder that was being synced copied from the old computer to the new computer?

Another weird thing is that some of my Apps 'changed' in the upgrade and now don't work (e.g. Group Text App reverted to the 'free' Ad bearing version whereas I previously had the 'paid' No-Ad version installed).
That leads me to believe they were not in the Apps folder in iTunes... maybe they were never transfered to the computer.  These can be downloaded again via iTunes or directly on the device.

As I said in my initial post the thing that really bugs me is the loss of my SMS texts.  I don't see any way of backing those up on iTunes and when I previously upgraded the iPhone software they, along with all my settings, transferred over seamlessly.
SMS/MMS/iMessage is included in the backup of the device done via iTunes.  Restoring of that backup will put all the content back.  This should also restore the email account setup

  • We use the Apple mail server to get e-mails from our gmail and comcast mail accounts. Recently we have been getting spam that claims to be sent to a gmail address, but when I check that address directly, there is no such e-mail. ???

We use the Apple mail server to get e-mails from our gmail and comcast mail accounts. Recently we have been getting spam that claims to be sent to a gmail address, but when I check that address directly, there is no such e-mail, either in the inbox or in the spam folder. Is it possible to bypass the gmail account and send directly to the Apple mail server, spoofing the gmail address?

Maybe some info here for you about spoofing. (and much additional info)

  • My e-mail account is sending out spam mails; how can i delete the virus?

My e.mail account is sending out spam mails; I have got a spam virus probably during download of my e.mails over the i phone. How can i detect and delete the virus?

You do not have a virus on your Mac or iPhone.
An AOL account is accessed as an IMAP account with the Mail app or email client on your Mac, and with the iPhone's Mail app. The sent spam messages being available in the account's Sent mailbox means your AOL account has been compromised.

  • Did someone send spam through my iinet mail account via my Mini Mac?

I am very annoyed with iinet. They locked me out of my email account with no warning or explanation. All my important mail comes via that account and has done for 6 years. Imagine all the places that need to use my address to contact me - dozens and dozens.
I rang them and they claimed my email account and computer have been 'compromised'. I have a Mini Mac, 10.5.8 and a 2011 Macbook Pro. I use the Mail programme and my messages are deleted from the server immediately.
Is this even possible that my Mac has got a trojan? They have not sent me an iota of proof that spam was sent from my email account or my computer. But they claim their tech department traced the spam mail to my IP address. I just can't believe this.
Their solution is to make me change my password. As I believe the spammers are only spoofing - adding my email address to the 'sent' field - not hacking - I won't do it on principle. This is what iinet wrote. Please advise me how to respond because I am not changing my password if they are just being silly.
I understand that this is frustrating and a bit hard to understand. The processes involved with tracing issues like this are not easy and we have to stop all possible spam or compromises working its way through our network so no damage can be done.
Below is a basic outline of what happens:
    1.            Operations Centre (OpCen) discovers spam or a compromise.
    2.            OpCen trace the IP back to a username.
    3.            The customer’s account is locked and active internet session terminated.
    4.            OpCen create a PTS task outline the issue.
    5.            CC contact the customer and confirm all threats have been removed.
    6.            CC create an ETS work request (WR) advising the steps taken to prevent future incidents.
    7.            The WR is reviewed and the customer’s account is unlocked by OpCen.
For whatever reason our OpCen team have traced your IP to your username and have followed our usual procedures to stop this from affecting our network.

Internet Service Providers needs to be forewarned, users frequently get spoofed about spam.  Shutting down their account due to suspected spam only weakens their reputation as an Internet Service Provider.
Spoofing can make legitimate e-mails look like spam simply by editing the reply-to address on your e-mail.
Sadly, spam e-mailers harvest legitimate e-mails by infecting various Windows machines and servers and grabbing addresses off their addressbooks.    People who mass e-mail you for legitimate purposes may actually be the harbingers of this problem because someone on their mass e-mail list may have the spam virus.  The way you can prevent it is:
    1. Never publish your genuine e-mail on any website that doesn't securely hide it.  That includes Apple Support Communities postings.  You can edit your Apple Support Community preferences to hide your actual e-mail address in the profile (which I see you've done!).
    2. When the recipient of a mass e-mail from a friend, tell them to only use BCC in their future mass e-mails.
    3. If sending mass e-mail yourself, do it only from an account you can afford to be bombarded by spam, or be spoofed.
    4. Encourage the use of mailing lists that don't publish a person's e-mail, including social sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn.
    5. Inform internet service providers that by setting up blacklists, they end up unintentionally making a file whih if compromised on an insecure machine, can backfire, and only create more spam.  Any internet provider blacklisting you is doing just that.

  • Don't want mail account to sync with online email account

I just got a new mac mini and will soon quit using my imac that I bought around 2006 10.6.8.
    I am setting up Mail.
Can I get it to work the way my old mail did.
    The problem
In the past my gmail would download to mail and if I deleted an email on my computer in Mail, it would delete.  I have 1172 old emails online on my gmail account and I want to keep them there.  Now when I deleted the messages that downloaded on my computer mail program, they reappear.  It seems as if it is syncing with what is online.
My husband's yahoo account downloads to Mail.  Before I only got what was in his inbox.  Sometimes people send me mail to his address, this way I have can check this on my computer.  When I set up his yahoo account in Mail, all of his folders and emails downloaded.  No big deal, I could delete the emails and they still remain on his online yahoo account.  The problem is that it downloaded all of his folders and mail won't let me delete the folders.
It's nice to have the new mini mac but I have to figure out what is different, especially on programs that I use a lot.
backed up my documents, music and photos and more on an external hardrive.  I would like to transfer folders and the emails they contain from the old mac.  Does anyone know how I find them?  I basically put all the files in home folder on the external drive.  I didn't know if I would find them under Library or what.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had it set as imap and did not realize it.  it was Pop that I wanted.  Now it is pop and I am getting what I want.  Thanks.

  • How do I stop Thunderbird from creating additional folders when I add a new mail account?

I've been using Thunderbird for about 8 years now, migrating the configuration from version to version. Currently I have two accounts it picks up email from. I want to add a third account but everytime I do this, it creates a bunch of new folders with the name of the account in my folder tree. This is undesirable, mainly because it looks terrible and it's also dodging the default filtering I have set up globally for received messages.
How do I create a new mail account without it making new folders and just using the local folders like the other accounts already do?
I do not use Thunderbird's internal spam filtering, I use popfile and use message filters to sort the emails by headers Popfile adds to my messages. I do not understand why it won't let me make a new account like the other accounts without making a special folder for the new account. Please help?

Item 1. Global inbox only works with POP mail accounts.
Tools menu > account settings >server Settings > advanced and select use global inbox to turn it on. Note the folder will disappear, so move the mail you want from them before you change the settings.
Item 2. IMAP accounts must have their own folders. The View menu > folder > unified view was designed to overcome that as much as possible,

  • How do I foward an e-mail account?

I have a current yahoo e-mail address and just created a new e-mail address with GoDaddy. I have already set up to forward the new e-mails to be forwarded to my current yahoo e-mail address through my GoDaddy Website account. How do I now go through Yahoo Mail to make this private so when I reply to the receivers of e-mails they do not see my current yahoo e-mail account?

I edited your post to remove your email address to try to save you spam.
This is a Firefox support forum, not a yahoo or godaddy support forum, so I can't really help you. If you are going to reply to emails from your yahoo account though, the receiver will see your yahoo email address.

  • How do I set up my Mail account on my network?

This problem has been driving me nuts for weeks now!
Let me fill you in on what is going on.
I had set up the free 60 day Mac Mail account with the following address:
This account expired and I did nothing for several months because I had a hotmail address. Then I decided to create a website and found that a .Mac account subscription was the best course of action.
Upon creating this account I ran into trouble because I tried to use the address I had created before and kept getting an error message saying that account already existed (Although I had no access to it to make any changes, I don't know why). So finally I said the heck with it and just created a new account with the new address:
Now every time I click on a "contact us" link on a web page, which opens my Mail Application, I get the error message again saying:
    Enter Password for Account
The SMTP server "smtp.mac.com" rejected the password for the
    user
Please re-enter your password, or cancel.
I know that my password is correct, so why won't it recognize it? I know that it has something to do with the settings but I am so unfamiliar with the lingo related to email (POP,SMTP,SSL, Server Port,.......All Greek to me!).
I did notice that there were several accounts within the Mail>Preferences. So what I did was delete all of them so that I could start fresh when I get a response. Thanks in advance. I hope that I was able to give enough info. I just figured that since I paid a hundred bucks for this .Mac account I should at least use all of the features!

Who is your internet service provider used for connecting to the internet?
Will you also be accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your internet service provider with the Mail.app?
Upon creating this account I ran into trouble because I tried to
use the address I had created before and kept getting an error
message saying that account already existed (Although I had no
access to it to make any changes, I don't know why). So finally I
said the heck with it and just created a new account with the
    new address:
You no longer had access to your .Mac trial account because you let the account expire several months ago without purchasing the .Mac account before the expiration date. This is common practice with many ISPs and email account providers. Once an email account/address is set up, if you let the account expire or cancel it, you usually can't use the same address if you decide sometime later to renew.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below for the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If this doesn't resolve it, there is another option.
FYI - you shouldn't provide your email address out in the open in a public forum such as this since spammers can easily "harvest" your email address this way causing being bombarded by spam.
Would you like your email address removed from your post? If so, I can request this with a moderator.

  • My e-mail account is completely empty

If I use Entourage there are 300 messages to my email.mac.com. On the other hand my email.mac.com folders are empty. How can this be? I want to use my .mac mail and my OS mail and both are empty and seem to trash mail as soon as it comes in without putting it in the trash folder. The trash folder should have lots of deleted mail messages. I've been using this for a year and a half and all of a sudden............
    Thanks

  • We have 2 iphones and 1 computer. Somehow during the sync my phone now is connected to my husband's itunes account - not mine.  How do we undo it?!?!?

After syncing, my phone still has all of my apps, contacts, email accounts, etc., but it seems to only recognize my husband's itunes account.  When I try to buy an app, it has his account and asks for his password.  Also, anything I have in the cloud is actually in his account.  When I look at the cloud under settings it has his itunes account, but no way to change it.  Help!!! I just want to know how to make it recognize my itunes account again. Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

"Can both be synced to the same computer"
Yes. My wife and I do this. You can sync as many as you like to one computer. Each is a different device and can be set up to sync whatever you like.
"Also, is there a way that she can sync her iPhone at our home computer for her contacts, music, videos, etc. on our iMac and then sync it at her office for just the calendar items?"
Yes. Disable automatic syncing on both computers - to avoid an accidental sync. Then set the work computer to sync calendar and not to sync anything else ( done via the taps in itunes). Do the same at home, only select to sync everything but calendar.

  • How can I change my iCloud my e-mail-account

How can I change my iCloud my e-mail-account?

Once you have created an iCloud account and chosen an @icloud.com address to go with it you can't change the address (short of creating an entirely new account).
However, all is not lost. You can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account, move it to another account, or reactivate it if you delete it.
