Spanish Keyboards for Bolivian Orphans

I am setting up a very basic computer lab for a Bolivian orphanage. I have a $1000 grant, I will cover the rest of the costs. I am looking at buying two Lenovo G550 2958A4U laptops (Newegg: http://tinyurl.com/ygoks92). My goal is to provide systems to help expose very poor 11-15 year old children to technology. I hope to make their interaction with these systems as fun and friendly as possible. My greatest worry is the US keyboards that come on these systems. I see 3 (reasonably normal) options:
1. Replace keyboards manually with Latin American keyboards
2. Buy USB wireless Latin American keyboards to supplement these systems.
3. Require them to use keyboard shortcuts to type some Spanish characters.
I have two questions:
1. Where can I find Latin American keyboards for Lenovo G550 2958A4U laptops and how much do they cost?
2. Do you have any better ideas?
Optional background information-
The amount of physical material that I can move to the orphanage is very limited. It follows that laptops are preferable to desktops. I plan on installing Ubuntu 9.10 with the Latin American language pack. I will be the only IT person and I will only have remote access to the systems.
Thank you very much for your time and help,
Daniel

if you buy laptop from ( spanish ) lenovo, spanish keyboard option is available but i'm not sure you can find any model you like to buy.
shop.lenovo.com : spanish
if you can find keyboard module it costs about 40-120$.
so, i suggest you to call support line for this issue.

  • Spanish keyboard for D8X43UA

Hello! I would like to know what is the part number for a spanish layout keyboard, for a Pavilion D8X43US#ABA. Thanks.

  • Change to spanish keyboard. Possible?

I'm thinking about getting one of those refurbished Macbooks. They seem like a really good deal. Howevre, I was wondering if there's any way to change the keyboard from English to Spanish?
Some months ago my wife took her iBook to a genius bar. SHe needed her keyboard replaced because it was decoloured. Will I be able to do the same? Just take it into a store and have them order a spanish keyboard for my macbook? if so, does anyone know how much that would cost?
Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can help me with this. If I don't have to pay a premium price because of the keyboard alone, I will be a VERY happy man!

Might be useful to know that I just bought a MacBook in Bangkok and they took off the English/Thai keys and put on just English ones! They just prise them off and click the new ones on. They did it in about an hour. So far, none of them fell off!
No apparent damage to the key surrounds either. If Apple make Spanish keys, then it should be a matter of someone helpful putting them on for you...

  • Switching English keyboard for a Spanish one

I am thinking about getting a "new" refurbished 13 inch Macbook Pro. It comes with the English Keyboard but because I write a lot in Spanish for my job I was wondering if there's any way to bring it to the store to have the keyboard replaced (is that covered in the warranty?) to that language.
Is that possible at all or do I have to custom order a Spanish keyboard layout from the website?
    Thank you!

Contact the store. As far as warranty is concerned I doubt that swapping the keyboard is covered under warranty. If you mean that when the keyboard is swapped out will the machine be covered under warranty then contact the store but I don't see why not.

  • PS Elements 6 for Mac - Spanish keyboard shortcuts

A colleague uses a Spanish (SORT) keyboard on his Mac and cannot work out how to expand and contract the brush in PS ELements 6 (normally "[" and "]" on a US/UK keyboard, but a complete mystery on a Spanish one).
Is there a resource which shows exactly where PSE keyboard shortcuts are on various international keyboards?
    PSE6 - Mac - Spanish keyboard.

Thanks, Barbara. I couldn't find it in your book (which I treasure), but I will pass that on to my amigo. He'll have to chop to the English keyboard for when he wants to work in PSE. I think that should be easy enough. Thanks again, Geoff

  • Bug? Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence and spanish keyboard

    Hello everybody,
because of a customer request I checked Jabber Video with spanish keyboard configured (traditional sort) an figured out, that with this configuration the Jabber Client (tested with 4.2, 4.6 and 4.8.8) doesn't accept the pound key when it is pressed on the keyboard. In Word for example the pound key works as expected. At the moment I told the customer to use the "onboard" keyboard in the Jabber Video client, but I think it is a bug (don't know if it's a bug in Jabber Video or Windows 7). Has anyone experienced the same? Maybe this will be fixed in future?
    Regards, Daniel

You can have both "free" and "enterprise" versions installed on a Mac.
If you already have "enterprise" version installed on a PC, and you install the "free" version, the registry settings will be changed and server setting locked to
    https://sjc1-movi-pr-bootproxy-vip.ciscojabbervideo.com/endpoint/configuration
when you install the "free" version, so ,no, you can't have both versions installed on the same PC.
You can change the registry settings so it's not locked to the Cisco server, but then you might as well just have the "enterprise" version installed and just edit the internal server settings to use the above URL if you want to make it behave as the "free" version.
There's no difference, clientwise, between the two, the server settings determines which server it will register with, and provisioning settings will change accordingly.

  • How do I switch through the English and Spanish keyboards on my ipod touch while I am typing instead of stopping and going into settings?

I went into settings and added the Spanish keyboard on to my ipod touch. But here's the thing. If I have the keyboard in English, while I am typing I can't use any Spanish because it wants to correct all my words and turn them into English words, and this happens vice versa when typing in Spanish and it makes corrections in English. When I type I am constantly switching back and forth between Spanish and English. Is there any way to change the keyboard language while I am at the typing screen? For example on my Samsung Galaxy 4g, all I have to do when I want to switch languages is swipe my finger on the space bar key from left to right. That way I don't have to stop writing, go into the phone settings and find the language and switch it, slowing me down considerably because I would have to stop every few minutes.  Is there no way to do something like this on my ipod touch??

Use the Globe key.  Hold it down and you will get a list, or just hit it to switch.
The Globe key should appear if you have more than one keyboard chosen in settings.

  • German keyboard for my new MBair that I want to order in the US

    Hi,
I am travelling in a couple of weeks to the US and wanted to order upfront online a new MBair.
Does someone knows if I can order online a german keyboard so that by picking up the notebook (in a store) it will already assembled?
The western spanish keyboard is slightly different from the german and would be therefore just a 2nd choice option.
thanks much for any kind of (positive) feedback

  • Characters typing as Spanish keyboard

    This is quite baffling...
I just installed CS6, and trying to type &, instead shows /, etc. Then I figured it was typing as a Spanish keyboard setting, although all my pc settings (control panel, etc.) are English.
    Any ideas? Thanks for looking.

If the keyboard is in the middle of the screen tap the tiny keyboard then slide your finger up to dock. If the screen isn't scrolling try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own.

  • Tilde equivalent in spanish keyboard?

Hi everyone, i working with perspective grid and i know that for dragging your artwork 90º from the active plane you need to press de tilde key while dragging. Now my spanish keyboard doesn´t have such a key, so: may i change the shortcut for this task anywhere into the customize keyboard shortcuts menu?.
By the way in order to actually write the tilde character i can press "alt+ñ" in my spanish keyboard but this doesn´nt work while dragging in perspective mode...

Anyway i find good idea mapping the sortcut to a tablet (or maybe vía
an application such a QuickSilver or similar). I'll try it Next time i
need to use the tilde key hardly in a project that requires isometric
    drawing.

  • Sending a text using the Spanish Keyboard

When I send a message to some one in Spanish using the Spanish keyboard, they cannot read it because it shows as a bunch of squares and symbols. They are using an Envy touch to see my messages. Can some one help me? Is anyone having the same problem? Thank you!

  • Shortcut in Spanish Keyboard

Hi all, does anyone know how to increase/decrease size of adjustment brush in a Spanish keyboard?
I know the short cut is ] / [ but in a Spanish keyboard to write down does symbols you have to press alt++ and alt+` and that doesn't work as increase/decrease brush size in LR2.
I forgot to say i use MacOS X

why this keyboard shortcut is not customizable
Good question – and an old one for users with non-english keyboards.
I think there was a thread in the old Feature Request Forum, but you may want to check
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/products/photoshop_family_photoshop
if there is a current one that you could add your support to or start a new one.
Instead of an Action a Script should also work, but as I use a non-english keyboard, too, I can’t record the ScriptListener-code and performing the task via the Document Object Model might take noticably longer with documents that have very many layers.

  • @ from Spanish keyboard

Can anyone suggest how to fill in the email address on BT contact forms from a Spanish keyboard ?
@ is normally achieved by Ctrl-Alt-2 but on BT contact forms this produces a message asking you not to cut and paste - making the form entirely useless.

  • MacBook keyboard settings to Spanish keyboard

I have been trying to use my Spanish keyboard but for some odd reason I am not able to use the Spanish keyboard on my new MacBook, tried all different settings!. (bought in Mexico, therefore pre-installed with Spanish keyboard).

Go to system preferences. Then hit International. Select "Input Menu" at the top. Then make sure spanish is selected in the menu.
