Spanned Drives in Server 2008 R2
verify all your databases come online afterwards
Ok, so here is the situation. I have a virtual DB server that utilizes many drives, however the Sys DB drive accidentally got spanned across another drive, these two drives reside on different datastores on the SAN. I'm thinking that the only way to fix this is to back up the data on the Sys DB Drive, bring down the server, remove the drive completely, and add another drive of appropriate size that isn't spanned. Is this sounding right? Are there any considerations, since this is a SQL server, that maybe I haven't thought of? Attached is a screen shot.
Thanks,
JR

Officejet 8500 a910 driver for server 2008
I was checking out drivers for the Officejet 8500 A910 a few weeks ago and there was a driver for Server 2008 and not Server 2003. That was ok because we were migrating to server 2008 R2. Tried to download driver today and now there is not driver for server period.
Hi,
Below are the drivers for Win Server 2008.

Renaming the C:\ drive in server 2008 R2
I have problem which I don't believe there is a resolution, but I'll ask anyway
Here is the backstory, we have a citrix environment where a certain application needs to write a file to the users' C:\ drive in order to work. In our old presentation server 4.5 farm this was no problem. When we would build the server we would rename the
C:\ drive to the N:\ drive on the server 2003 servers (using drive remap utility). When the users' session was started there would only be one C:\ visible to the app so it would correctly write to the users' C:\ drive. Now we are moving to xenapp 6.5 which
runs on server 2008 R2, and from what I have found online renaming the C:\ drive to a different drive letter (using Drive Remap64 utility) is not recommended/supported. So the app will not launch as it tries to write to the C:\ drive of the server and
is denied. So my question is now, after the server has been built is there any way to rename the C:\ drive to another drive letter? or any way to open up permissions on the root of C;\ so that the "everyone" group has modify access?have you tried diskpart?

No HCK test for ndis filter driver in server 2008 R2
I am running HCK 2.1 to test my ndis filter driver.
1. The testing client is running server 2008 R2.
2. The driver is built for win7 x64 with vs 2012.
However, there is no test avaiable in the HCK console. Even I choose "Add Features" in "devices and printers" or "software devices", I still can not find the proper tests. But
if I build the driver for win8 x64 and run the tests in server 2012, the "ndis 6.5 logo test" shows up.
Now I do need a signature for win7 and 2008 R2.
Does anyone know how to add "ndis logo test" for win7 in HCK 2.1?anyone can help?

Windows Server 2008 R2 & Officejet Pro K8600 Printer - WHICH DRIVER ?!
What driver do I use for Windows Server 2008 R2 and HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer?
I'm trying to find the correct driver for Server 2008 R2 for an HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer. This is a large format (tabloid or 11 x 17) inkjet printer. Either I haven't found the correct driver, or I haven't properly discovered the correct combination of settings to use to fix the problem I'm having. The problem is that every time I try to print a document that is 11 x 17, it ends up being printed as if the paper size is 8.5 x 11.
I've seen many people have similar problems where everything worked fine when they were using XP, but when they "upgraded" to Windows 7, they can't print 11 x 17 any more. What driver do I use for Windows Server 2008 R2 and HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer?

RAID Virtual Volumes Server 2008 R2 (Dell H200)
Hi all,
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I am deploying a Dell R410 server with a Dell PERC H200 Controller with 4 X 300GB SAS Drives in two RAID1 arrays. I have loaded Server 2008 R2 onto the first volume. Unfortunately when I open Disc Manager the second volume is not displayed at all. However in
"Dell's Open Manage Server Administrator" both Virtual disks are displayed, also while posting after the controller has initialized both arrays show up. I attempted to remove the disks in the functional array and booting with the Installation media, to my
dismay the second volume could not be detected by the Windows setup which leads me to believe it is Hardware related.
I have contacted dell support today and according to them it is OS related, unfortunately the channel I purchased the server through did not have stock of the Dell OEM Server Standard 2008 R2, thus I was forced to acquire the package via a DSP channel and as
such I am not entitled to Dell Support on the Software (won’t make that mistake again...). However the representative I spoke too did make the effort to consult the Software support team and they informed him that this is a known issue and referred me
to the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457110.aspx
Now I am either thick and can’t read or these support guys have it wrong. This article is about basic usage of Disk manager however it has no information on a virtual volume not showing up in Disc Manager... So I can only conclude that they believe I
am an idiot and cannot use Disk Manager to initialize the disk, even though I made it clear that there is no volume to initialize in the first place.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am going out of town for a day or two and will only be able to check back on Monday, so if any feedback is required from me I will reply ASAP.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards
Thick sculled Disk Manager user.I had this problem to the point and I have resolved it. The Dell support rep stated that the PERC H200 drive was designed for "Dell" proprietary drives only and that they have released a firmware version in May or June of 2011 that resolves this:
Component Version Previous Version
Package 07.02.42.00 07.01.33.00
MPT Firmware 02.15.04.00 02.15.63.00
SASBIOS 7.11.01.00 7.01.09.00
SASFLASH 7.00.00.00 2.00.00.01
UEFI BSD 7.00.01.00 2.00.01.09
NVDATA version 17 00.0A.00.15
Make sure the firmware version is the updated version.
Also, there is an updated driver for Server 2008 R2 that is different than the driver for Server 2008 x64 or x32. Make sure that it is the following version:
FILE NAME: R294479
Device Driver for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
Version 2.0.35.10
There are README's included that give full instructions for Windows Installation.
With these two components, your drives will be recognized by Server 2008 R2. I hope this helps you or anyone else with this problem.

Virtual Devices and windows server 2008 R2
We are running windows server 2008 R2 - we have a virtual environment using Ncomputing devices - VSPACE hypervisor. We have an HP Photo smart printer 8050 which has card reader ports. The Photo smart printer is connected via usb to the thin client
device. Server recognizes the device but we get an error across all virtual units hard disk missing, we get this four times which is the number of card reader ports on the HP printer.
Under device manager we see :
Portable Devices
WPD File System Volume Driver with a yellow exclamation point
This device cannot start Code 10
Location = UMBus Enumerator - Portable Devices WPD FileSystem Volume Driver
Looks like server 2008 is not seeing the card-readers properly hence the WPD error.
I am having trouble finding anything on HP's site as far as a specific driver for server 2008
any help is appreciated, it is driving everyone crazy, one more note, users not on the Thin Client environment are not receiving the messages. (standard pc connected users)Hi fpca18042,
>>We are running windows server 2008 R2 - we have a virtual environment using Ncomputing devices - VSPACE hypervisor.
>>We have an HP Photo smart printer 8050 which has card reader ports. The Photo smart printer is connected via usb to the thin client device.

It seems that it is not a windows server issue .
As far as I know , VMs can not access hardware directly in hyper-v .
If "Ncomputing devices-VSPACE hypervisor" is a hypervisor ,I would suggest you to contact "Ncomputing devices-VSPACE hypervisor" for further assistance .

Hard drive not recognized during windows server 2008 setup
hard drive not recognized during windows server 2008 setup
Hi,
Whether the hard disk is recognized in BIOS?
Connect it to another computer to see if it could be recognzied incase the cause is the disk itself. Also please check if it is really a RAID instead of a single hard disk - a single disk should be recognized directly while RAID cannot be recognized until
a suitable driver is installed.

ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Guide me What I do?Did you add a System DSN or a User DSN? If you added a User DSN from your own login, the asp.net application will not be able to use it unless its application Pool in IIS is configured to run under the same credentials that you used for creating
the DSN. It's better if you add a System DSN.
Also, be careful to ensure that you are using a 64 bit DSN, unless you configure the application to run in 32 bits. If the 64 bit application attempts to use the 32 bit driver you get the same error message "Data source name not found and no default
driver specified". See this KB article:

Windows Server 2008 R2 only detect USB storage drives if I restart the system
Hi, I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 with an weird behaviour. I cannot connect any USB drive (not USB external hard disk neither pendrives). Windows device manager detects the device as
Mass Storage Device, but with a yellow exclamation sign. The exact error code is:
The device cannot start.
However, if I restart the machine keeping the USB disk plugged, the hard disk (or pendrive) is correctly detected and usable.
I've tried:
Update mass storage driver.
Review HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbstor "Start"
and is 3 (I think is right)
I've tried with different usb hard disks that are working in other PCs.
I've tried with large (>1TB) disks and small (8GB) pendrives.
I've tried all available USB ports, front and back, with same behaviour.
Always I get a yellow exclamation (Device cannot start) and if I restart the computer the device is working perfectly.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance
Edit: Here is the log of connecting a Kingstone USB 8GB pendrive

Now I've just tried to delete (uninstall) absolutly all devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller
(host controllers, root hubs, etc) into Device Manager, and then I've click on
Scan for hardware changes to force reinstall of all USB drivers. After that I've connected my USB external hard disk and has been correctly recognized and its working. However I don't know if when I'll restar the server and connect a new one usb device
it will continue working or not. I'll try later, because this is a production server.
I've tried for drivers into HP site to update or reinstall, but there isn't any driver for motherboard or USB controller. It's an HP ML350 G6. -
Is there a restriction to install ODBO driver on Windows Server 2008 64bits
For SAP BusinessObjects Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) version 7.5 Microsoft it is possible to connect with Xcelsius using an ODBO provider installed on the BPC server. In the installation Guide for BPC it is specified the need to add following key to the registry:
http://HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\MDA\ODBO
"SupportedProviders"="BPCMDX.4"
When installing on a Windows Enterprise Server 2003 64 bits I can find the registry three path to http://HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\MDA\ODBO . On a Windows Enterprise Server 2008 64 bits I cannot see the key path.
I copy below the paragraph regarding ODBO driver from BPC 7.5 Installation Guide:
Prerequisites
The following software is installed:
n SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP02 (see Downloading and Installing the Central Management System
page 15).
n Microsoft Visual C+ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update+
on the Planning and Consolidation Web server and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise
XI 3.1 SP02 server for Voyager or a Universe. You can download the installer from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID
=766a6af7-ec73-40ff-b072-9112bab119c2 and choose vcredist_x86.exe.
Procedure
1. Download the Planning and Consolidation ODBO provider from the SAP Download area by
selecting Downloads Installations & Upgrades on the SAP Service Marketplace.
2. Navigate to <drive>:\odbo and run the client.exe file.
3. Add the Planning and Consolidation ODBO provider to the Data Driver by entering this registry
setting:
http://HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\MDA\ODBO
"SupportedProviders"="BPCMDX.4"I found the answer, Xcelsius 2008 SP3 is not supported on Windows Server 2008.
Before trying to use more products please check the supported platforms for all products. For example you can see in Xcelsius documentation that SAP Business Objects Xcelsius 2008 SP3 is not supported on Windows Server 2008. This means that, even if BPC 7.5M supports Windows Server 2008, it is not possible to use both BPC 7.5M and Xcelsius 2008 SP3 on a Windows Server 2008. -
HP Laserjet CP2025 Windows Server 2008 R2 Universal Printer Driver problem
Is there support for Windows Server 2008 R2 for the CP2025n printer, I've been trying to get it to work with a standard TCP port with the universal driver but no luck.
Any ideas?I have Windows 2003 servers with the Universal PCL6 driver v5,4. It printed slower then the previous version. I manually changed the Device Settings, mainly the Monochrome / Color option. This seemed to make the print process faster.

Driver for Deskjet 1220c (Windows 7 x64 and Windows Server 2008 R2)
Hi,
I've got a Deskjet 1220c and have recently upgraded two machines; one to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and the other to Windows Server 2008 R2. Any idea where I can get printer drivers?
I'd like to try the Vista x64 drivers, though these were included on the Vista CD from MS, and not available as a separate download from HP (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00868762).
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks,
MtHi
I had this trobule too. Below is the instructions to install driver. Disconnect your printer. In printers select add printer. Then click windows update (need internet) allow them to update and then select 1220c printer to install leaving as standard old port. Once installed go into printer properites and update to USB port.
Bingo it works!
Refer to the below link for full instructions.

Good luck
