Spark in CS4? possible at all?

well, after hours of working around TLF, and after I finally managed to have a reasonable understanding of the whole thing, I found out that I have to use Spark for what I'm trying to do!
I checked the documentations and noticed that all the features like single line of text field or password text or maxChar and some other settings are actually available in spark and not with the textFlow I was trying to build
anyway, I was happy that I found spark and it seemed very interesting but when I tried to do some examples on how I can use that in my CS4... wow, I didn't find even one example to help me understand how I can initialize the spark!!!
all samples are in flex and mxml version... and my whole project is in flash and note flex. does this mean that I can't use Spark in my flash project?!
maybe we can use those features in my TextFlow also? features like maxChar, password text and that stuff...
Sorry if I'm asking too much questions... I'm just trying to learn as fast as possible. Thanks.

I think it may be possible if you build the Flex component as a SWC that links into your Flash project. I haven't actually tried this, though.

I have an ATI X1550 graphics card based on the chipset in the topic subject... I wish my PC wasn't half-height, so I could go get a real graphics card.... but I have what I have for now, and I guess I should settle for it.

I don't have that card in my computer right now and probably won't for a while (unless someone can say "do XYZ, I have like exactly that card and it worked"), since despite only being 64MB my integrated graphics from Intel pwn the X1550 (which has 256MB, sigh) to bits in terms of hardware acceleration. Despite my Intel graphics (Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)) not even having direct rendering (libGL error: dlopen /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so: undefined symbol: _glapi_tls_Context)).

If you're talking about streaming video and the video stalls on you, you just have to wait until the video loads enough in the cache before you start playing it or it will continue to stall on you. If you do not have a very fast Internet download speed, there's not a whole lot you can do about it other than to let the video finish loading before you start the playback.

Another interpretation would be to get the buyer first buying without very explict information the Standard version and then making him over days of trial and questions in a forum where people have also similar problems: Aha!! it is not included. I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.

Yes I'd like to know how to crop an AVI clip" I googled the question and got a lot of photoshop answers instead. What I wanted to do is, using an original clip get 2 short portions of it. that is of two different people jumping out of a plane and have them both spinning inversely 360 degree to the length of a song. I did it but was annoyed with the black edges on either side of the clips, especially interfering with the spinning of each clips (BTW I did export these two short clips after fitting them to the frame in a new sequence but the result is still the same, I hoped the new avi would not have the black edges, but it did not work!) I even would have preferred my two clips to be square for better visual balance but was unable to do this either. This may be a kind of picture in picture or in this case two pics in one. Thank you in advance for any tips

In the Effects Panel (not the Effects Control Panel), there is a little query box. Just type "crop," and it would have popped up - just do not forget to clear that query box, of you will not see your other Effects.
As for a Google search, I would have done advanced, with the string "Adobe Premiere Pro" and then the word "crop" and "effect" above.
THIS is the second hit, with about the same, but for CS3, that I got. Cropping is more commonly used in still Image editing, such as with PS, so most hits on "crop" will probably throws 1000's of PS references. By putting in that string, where all words are kept together and in order, we eliminated nearly all of those.

Photoshop CS, CS3, CS4, Flash 8, all crash on Macbook Pro 10.5.6

Over time, I forget exactly when, Photoshop and Flash applications crash when attempting to start them. Photoshop CS would yield errors that referenced 'CarbonLib' in the error message. Macromedia Flash 8 simply crashes on startup, no further info.
So I thought perhaps I should try a newer version of Photoshop, so I downloaded the CS3 trial... also crashes.
So then CS4 came out... installed the trial... it actually loads (during the splash screen anyway) but once you get to the 'layout' page, it shows the tools, panels etc but if you hover over any of them you get the magical "beach ball" for eternity. It never actually crashes until your patience runs out and you 'Force Quit' the application.
Just updated from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 same deal...
Tried running the apps on a brand new user account... same deal.
I have the 'Crash Report'... doesn't mean much to me... how do you make a diagnosis from these messages anyway?

Just a mall possibility, and it is ony a maybe.
The com.adobe.photohop.plist which is in your user's preferences will be share by all versions of Photoshop you have installed. It is possible that is corrupted.
The other thought of course is a font data base or a font.
Of course it might be time to update the software as Buko is sort of suggesting and you might also try an archival clean install.

Flash and quicktime export not possible at all!

as there was no result on my prev post, here again:
i use keynote'08 4.02 on imac with 2gb and osx 10.5.2.
i created a presentation with 15 slides and over all 16,5 minutes.
each slide has a mp3 sound file attached (the speakers voice recorded externally).
now i am facing following problems on *export to flash* (export is around 18mb):
1) synchronization of voice and effects is different than inside keynote - i fixed this by changing times and export/test cycles, as long until i run sync in swf (please make it sync - this is terrible).
2) starting with slide 13 some objects do not appear - in further slides many objects do not appear. the sound and time is ok, but not much to see. if i split the presentation into 2 parts, the export works fine, all objects appear in all slides, but i found no way to combine those 2 swf files....
3) in one slide i found out that the order of appearing/disappearing objects confuses the swf export, so that many objects afterwards are not at all shown.... i played around long and splitted the slide in 2 slides and with some workarounds i got it show all objects.
4) it would be great if at least some transitions and most effects would be supported and times of effects would be the same inside keynote and in exported swf.
*exporting to quicktime*:
1) first i had one large mp3 for the whole presentation and added it as soundtrack and synced it inside keynote. exporting this to quicktime made it run async. but at least export was possible for the full presentation.
2) i splitted the mp3 for each slide and added each mp3 to each corresponding slide. this way i made it possible to export to swf (see above). but quicktime export now has no sound and slide shows up nearly endless.... qt export is impossible.
what can i do?
at least it would help me if i can export ONE swf file.
best would be if it has same sync inside keynote and in swf - but i can live for now with swf export optimized sync that doesnt work inside keynote. but it should be fixed at least in the future....

I'm currently having a similar problem, where the Flash exported by Keynote seems to randomly miss some objects on the page that appear after a click or a delay. In fact, in one case, I had embedded a EPS file in the slide, and some parts of the embedded file were exported to Flash but not others. I'm using Keynote 3.0.2, so I'm sorry to hear that Keynote '08 still has this bug which makes Flash export pretty awful to deal with.

Embedding a screen in a docking container - Is it possible at all??

I am working on a screen design similar to SE80, where I will be required to display a tree structure in screen say '0100' to the left of the screen and upon node_double_click event, I should be able to bring up another screen '0200' on to the right side with out navigating away from the screen 0100.
I have a custom control in my initial screen 0100, covering the full area, and I am instantiating the docking container object in the node_double_click handler method of the tree control. I have passed sy-repid and dynpro number '0200' but to no avail.
The following is the code sample.
      IF docking_right IS INITIAL.
        CREATE OBJECT docking_right
          EXPORTING
            repid     = g_repid
            dynnr     = '0200'
            side      = cl_gui_docking_container=>dock_at_right

I was specifically interested in exploring the option (if any) of combining conventional controls and the new GUI controls because I am trying to get to a scenario where I should be able create conventional controls like list boxes and buttons dynamically based on user actions. .
For GUI controls you always need some container which is a "bridge" b/w control created in program and the screen. For standard dialogs you don't need such container. You just place them on the screen. Therefore you can combine these techniques by simply placing a container (which you already have and will use for tree control). The rest of the screen area can be used by standard controls (listoboxes, i/o fields etc). This way standard controls would be statically set, whereas container would store GUI control assinged dynamically in program.
If, on the other hand, you want both controls and GUI controls be dynamically determined, just keep you container (for GUI control) and create a subscreen area where you dynamically swap different screens. These screen must be set as subscreens and must have statically defined layout, thus only determination of the screen to be displayed is dynamic here.
Anyhow, there is no way to dynamically set standard controls on the screen. You could, however in turn switch them on/off in PBO (based on certain conditions) but this would require placing all the possible controls and just hiding/showing them. No replacment is then possible, so image empty gaps which this approach would produce.
Ironically the constructor of docking container supports repid and dynpro for no apparent utility.
As I said, container is used only to place some GUI control in it and then send this entire package (container+ GUI control) to appropriate place on the screen. That's why in container's constructor there is both repid and dynpro. These only determine where this container should be attached.

I just downloaded itunes and all my music is there but the files won't fit onto my computer so now i can't play the 12000 songs i have n my library y isn't this possible if all the songs are on the cloud ?this is ridiculous ...

i got a new laptop because my old one won't turn on anymore .i can only sync my account to 5 computers so how do i unsync the account from my old laptop if i can't use my old laptop ?and i have over 12000 songs that i now have to individually drag and drop onto my computer that doesn't hold that much space because none of my songs will play because there is no file on computer to back it up .all of my songs are saved in the cloud y isn't that enough to make my songs play ?so now i have a list of songs that won't play on my itunes that won't let me use my account because it's the 6th computer on my account .it's kindda pointless .

Tigon's already got you covered here. But I'll chime in with some English localisation advice.
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

CS4 Really slow all of a sudden!

I am really struggling to work at any reasonable speed with InDesign CS4. It has been fine ever since I got it, but all of a sudden it is crawling along and it is driving me mad. I have tried using fast display, but not good.
I am running a Mac with OSX 10.5.6, Dual 2.66 Intel, and 11 gig of RAM.
Any ideas as to why InDesign is running slow? Everything else seems to be running fine.

Thanks for the suggestions, they sort of have an affect, but, it all starts going pear shaped after about an hour or so.
I have switched off the preflight, colours panel and the auto correct for spelling which seem to make it last that bit longer before it starts to drag its heels, but I am finding that I am basically having to quit a couple of times a day, and also having to restart more often than I like.
To be honest, I am finding it to be a little unstable, is anybody else? The same with photoshop too...

.AVI File won't play in CS4, Gspot says all Codecs are properly installed

I'm trying to edit a video in adobe premier pro from an Olympus XZ-1 (.avi file/mpjeg) but it doesn't play at all.
I tried to find if there where any codecs missing with Gspot, but it says all codecs are in place.
What else can be the problem and how can I solve it?

Welcome to the forum.
Yes, there is a clearcut answer, with three possible variations.
First, the Nikon should have their version of the MJPEG CODEC on a utility disc. That CODEC might install via the camera's driver, might be a separate install from the disc, or might install as part of a utility (say an editing program) on that disc. Not sure exactly where it will be located, but I feel confident that Nikon will have provided it. That will be the best, as different camera mfgrs. tweak common CODEC's. Even if you do not plan on using an included utility, you might need to install it, just to get the Nikon MJPEG CODEC. I did that for a Canon, and a Panasonic, and got their specific CODEC's, for their AV files.
The two variations would be either the Morgan, or MainConcept MJPEG CODEC, which will be a download and install. The weakness of these CODEC's is that they are more general, and might not reflect a Nikon tweak. That is why I mentioned Nikon's version first. It WILL be as good as it gets.
Good luck, and wish that I knew exactly where the Nikon MJPEG CODEC was located, or what process installed it, but if you find it added, after an installation, I would appreciate if you would update the thread, so that others will then know what to install, to get that CODEC.

CS4: File - Close All generates prompts.

When I go to File -> Close All I always have to answer this prompt on every single document: "save changes to document before closing?" Rather annoying when all I want it to close ALL of my 23 documents that I have open, and I don't wanna exit PS. When I searched this all I found was "Photoshop also give you the option to Apply to All so that you can save them all (or not) without further prompts." But in what version? I don't see this in CS4, have I overlooked something here?

If your on windows the script(s) should go in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Presets\Scripts (32 bit cs4 on a 64 bit system)
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Presets\Scripts (cs4 on a 32 bit system or 64 bit cs4 on a 64 bit system)
on a mac os /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Scripts
Then the script(s) should show on the File>Scripts menu

I got your advise, I download the openG (i had problems, and downloading directly and install one to one).
Ok, i got but i have one problem, which i can't solve. I entry the promt to search and put the directory to save, later i push 'Do it' and it search the files, show the paths and number, then save in the folder and finally show the window , all ok!.
The problem is with the target path, when i want use the browse, it doesnt run properly. I want select one carpet, and it demands one file, i dont understand why??, i changed the options browse but it didnt work. Also i would like when i put one path if folder doesnt exist, directly create it and save the files, if exist copy it.
