Sparsebundle ( error 109)

Hi All. I just bought a new Time Capsule 2tb.
I did my first backup over the network to backup my Mac Pro.
I am getting the following error:
Time Machine could not complete the backup.
"The backup disk image "volumes/Data/My Computer.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error 109).
Any ideas?

You might be able to repair the sparse bundle. See #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
While you're there, check out #C10; if any of your names don't follow those conventions, it might be the cause, or contribute to the cause, of the problem.

  • Can't backup- getting error 109

The first time time capsule was backing up my machine it got interrupted and now will not backup. It stalls out after making the backup disk available and gives this error:
The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/computerdrivename.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error 109).
    Anyone familiar with that error?

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
You need to know that, although many folks do it (including me), Time Machine backups via Airport Extremes doesn't always work and is +*not officially supported+* by Apple: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/15139.html
You may be able to get it to work by using some of the same things that often work on Time Capsules:
Change your Computer and LocalHost names (via System Preferences > Sharing); and your Airport Extreme and Network names (via Airport Utility). Keep them relatively short, and use only letters and numbers -- avoid punctuation, spaces, and special characters.
Do a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum.
Try the things in #D2 of the Troubleshooting Tip.

  • Time Machine backups suddenly failing with error 109 (console errors inc.)

I've been using Time Machine over my Airport Extreme Base Station for months without a single error, and all of the sudden it fails constantly with the error:
*The backup disk image “/Volumes/TARDIS-1/Derek’s iMac_001f5bf60eb1.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error 109).*
I've tried selecting the drive again since it's mounted fine. It's mounted as TARDIS, not TARDIS-1, which I thought was a clue to the problem until I went to the Console to see all of the errors:

I've seen others say that Time Machine quit working after updating to Snow Leopard, but i've been running it since launch and the problems only appeared yesterday. Ideas?

I'm not sure why you call it a "phantom" drive, because I was quite intentionally connected to that network drive. In any case, I did as you recommended, in case that was the issue (though over the months I've often been connected to the network drive). Sadly, no dice.

During the step "Making backup disk available..." in the Time Machine preference pane, looking in Volumes, I have:
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root 1 Sep 10 19:48 Macintosh HD -> /
    drwx------ 13 root 398 Mar 10 2009 TARDIS
    drwxr-xr-x 1 derek 12288 Mar 5 2009 Untitled
So it's properly connecting to TARDIS, it would seem, as root.

  • What means Error 109?

    Hello!
The Time Machine could not complete the backup because the iMac.sparsebundle could not be accessed (error 109).
What can I do to complete the backup?

    see this user tip.

  • Time Machine error 109

Three Macbooks have and are continuing to backup to the Time Capsule via Time Machine. I recently added an iMac and since trying the very first backup I get the following error message:
Time Machine could complete the backup.
The backup disk image "/Volumes/Data/Jeff Seglem's iMac.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error 109).
Any ideas on how to get a successful backup working for the iMac?

Is it only the iMac that's getting this message?
If so, try a "full reset" of Time Machine on the iMac, per #A4 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
When you go to select the TC as the destination, you may have to mount the sparse bundle first, by double-clicking it in the Finder.
If that doesn't help, try a +*Repair Disk+* on it, via #A5 in the Troubleshooting Tip.

  • Time Capsule "Error 109"

Whether it's a coincidence or not, backups have not worked since upgrading to Snow Leopard. The Menu Bar icon spins non-stop, and every once in a while a message pops up that says "backup disc image '/volumes/timecapsule/*****_0016cbad58bc.sparsebundle' could not be accessed (error 109)" (***** represents the computer name). I can connect to the Time Capsule no problem, access and modify files that I have on it, the internet works fine, I can connect to other computers on the network, but no backups occur. Any solutions?

You have to run fsck_hfs on an attached, but not mounted, drive.
This worked for me and a few other people I know. If the drive corruption isn't to serious, then this should fix it.

  • Error 109 With Time Machine

So I have a FantomDrives 1TB Hard Drive plugged into my airport extreme router through the USB port and me and my family have been using it for backing up our software, with mine going on one partition and my father and mother on the other. This has been working fine for us for a while now but as soon as we updated to Snow Leopard all of our backups stopped being accessible, ie, none of the .sparsebundles could be mounted. Ironically, we only installed Snow Leopard on two of the computers, but the third computer, an older PowerPC, cannot access its backup for the same reason. Any ideas?

I have the same setup with a WD 1TB MyBook and have gotten the same error 109 ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard. I thought I simply had a corrupt mount point so I deleted my backup file and started from scratch. The initial backup went just fine but all subsequent backups failed.
Click here to download the +Time Machine Buddy+ widget. It shows the messages from your logs for one TM backup run at a time, in a small window. There should be a clue; if in doubt, copy and post the messages from that failed backup here.
A few folks have had trouble with the Buddy on Snow; if you do, and are familiar with Console, use it and filter for the backupd process; if not, post back for instructions.

  • Cannot delete file from error 109

I tried to open a document and got an error 109.  the error message keeps flashing and even though I click CLOSE, it won't close.  This keeps me from closing or deleting the document or doing anything else on my MAC

    Hi isabelsingh,
It sounds like that particular PDF may be damaged. Do you get the error with other PDFs? What version of Acrobat or Reader are you using? And, are you on Mac OS or Windows?
If you'd like, you can try sending me the file, and I'll see if I can open/Save As on my end. Let me know, and I'll send you a private message with my email address so you can send the file along.
    Best,

  • Error while executing SSIS package - Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11. A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)

    Hi,
We are getting the following error when running our SSIS packages on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1:
Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11.   A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)
SQL Server Data Tools and SQL Server Database Engine reside on the same server.
    We tried the following:
    Disabling TCP Chimney Offload
    Installed Windows Server 2008 SP1
Splitting our SSIS code into multiple steps so it is not all one large continuous operation
The error occurs during a BulkDataLoad task.
Other options we are investigating with the engineering team (out-sourced, so delayed responses):
Firewall configurations (everything is local, so this should not make a difference)
    Disabling the anti-virus scanner
Are there other things we can try?
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi HenryKwan,
Based on the current information, the issue can be caused by many reasons. Please refer to the following tips:
Install the latest hotfix based on your SQL Server version. Ps: there is no SQL Server 2012 R2 version.
Change the MaxConcurrentExecutables property from -1 to another one based on the MAXDOP. For example, 8.
Set "RetainSameConnection" Property to FALSE on the all the connection managers.
    Reference:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/774370/ssis-packages-abort-with-unexpected-termination-message
If the issue is still existed, as Jakub suggested, please provide us more information about this issue.

  • Error 109

Hello, I have recently purchased my registered version of CS6 Extended which is expected to be in the mail in a few days. However, i felt it would be a good idea to try to install the trial version so when it came i can just enter the code. It keeps giving me error 109 at the beginning of the download (The step after download assistant) And I have followed the steps on the solution pages a multitude of times. Just to put it out there also, I have bought a liscened version of PS Elements 8 yesterday also and it would install but not open with also the "Elements 8.0 has stopped working..." notice coming up. I would like to know how to get my products installed, I'm running Windows Vista OS here is a link to the screen shot of my system properties http://i50.tinypic.com/2ymgj9e.png
I have currently uninstalled all things relating to adobe (except flash) In prep for more suggestions. I would appreciate help.

If you have already completed solution 1 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Solutio n_1.  Then please try intiating a direct download by following the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369.
Also you maybe receiving the error 109 due to the location chosen to download the install files too.  Please try choosing the default location of your User folder.

  • Error 109 Problem when trying to download 5.5 trial?

So i've uninstalled everything Adobe on my mac, and deleted any other straggling folders that did not have an "uninstall" anywhere in them, and have even downloaded the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and it couldn't even find anything to uninstall so I'm pretty sure I got everything. But I've been trying to download this free trial for the past 3 hours now and it shows this everytime it gets a little bit going:
It says "Error downloading this product (Error 109). Check your network connection or destination disk.  You can also use the "Reset product download" button to try to download the product again."  Well, I've checked my connection, and its perfectly fine, and i've tried the Reset button about 3 times now and it still has this error message pop up.  Help?  And someone better reply because I never get replies on my posts I make on forums. >=[

    For errors 109
    Solution 1
    Clear the browser cookies.
Go back to the Adobe.com download page and refresh the page.
Click on the Download button again to launch the ADA.
If the download does not start, verify your network connection and try again.
If your network connection works normally and you still get an  error message after a few attempts, delete the contents of the Local  Store folder (see path below).
Launch the ADA and accept the license agreement.
Close the ADA and follow steps 2 and 3 again.
If the issue is still unresolved check to make sure all anti-virus and firewall software is temporarily disabled.
Close the ADA and follow steps 2 and 3 again.
    Solution 2
The trial software is downloaded in compressed files that you extract so that the installer can run. Insufficient disk space on the destination drive can cause extraction errors.
Check your hard drive to make sure that there is sufficient space for the download and extraction.
If necessary, remove some programs and files to create enough available hard disk space for the download and extraction.
Quit Adobe Download Assistant and then restart it. The extraction process starts automatically.
    Solution 3
Check to see which version of Internet Explorer you are using by choosing Help > About Internet Explorer.
If you are using Internet Explorer 6, upgrade to Internet Explorer  8.  Or, use a different browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Google  Chrome.
If the issue is still unresolved go to the Adobe Download Asisstant  preferences location ( see below) and delete the Local Store folder..
Go back to the Adobe.com download page and refresh the page.
Click on the Download button to launch the ADA.
The ADA will launch and you will need to accept the the license again and sign in to start the download.
Note: You can resolve most errors by clicking the Reset Product Download button .  The download either resumes from the point where the error occurred, or  restarts from the beginning. If the error persists, try deleting the  Adobe Download Assistant preferences file. Then, restart the download  from Adobe.com.
    Adobe Download Assistant preferences location:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant\Local Store
Windows 7 and Vista:  C:\Users\<login>\AppData\Roaming\com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant\Local Store
    Mac OS: /Users/<login>/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant,  and  /Users/<login>/Library/Caches/com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant
    Solution 4
Error  106 occurs if you have previously initiated the download and then  initiated a second download of a different trial product before the  first download finishes.
Error 105 occurs if you have initiated a duplicate download of a trial product which is already downloading in the ADA queue.
    Solution 5
The  message, "Sorry, an error occurred," occurs when you use the Adobe  Download Assistant in an account with insufficient administrative  privileges. Either create an account with Administrator privileges or  log in to an existing account with administrative privileges. Then, try  the download again.
