SPC Charts and Analysis

Hi....
Do any of the BusinesssObjects applications support the generation of statistical process control (SPC) charts like x-bar charts and histograms?  Which one....
I need a software application that can pull data out of a MS SQL 2005 database and Oracle database and present SPC charts via a web browser.  It'll need to be able to calculate and display standard deviation, control limits, specification limits, and process calability stats like Cpk.
I've found some references to what I need in reference to 'BusinessObjects Process Analysis' and 'BusinessObjects Dashboard builder', but nothing that really communicates which product or products can do it.
Thanks for any pointers.
John

You have to log into SAP to see the charts , cp,cpk values etc. I am not aware of any options to publish these charts on web, I never got  a chance to do that.
But with my experience, the SPC options in standard SAP (ECC or R/3) are very limited not like  third party applications like infinity qs etc. The SPC chart options like any other sap r/3, go to the related transaction code and pull up the charts on various selection criteria. Configurable graphical options are available and SAP supports various kinds of charts.
The other option (I have doen it in multiple places) is utilize sap to gather/collects data points, inerface third party statistical packages  like statistica to sap r/3 . downlaod the data from sap and do the analysis.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
Ram

  • SPC Charts and Analytics

    Hi....
I hope somebody can provide some help.
Does SAP's software generate SPC charts using STATIT Custom QC and STATIT eQC or another software package?  or is it SAP developed?
Does anybody know if BusinessObjects is capable of generating SPC charts like an X-bar S chart?  Can it also provide process capability analysis (e.g. histograms with Cpk values)?
    Thanks,
    John

  • Combining USL and LSL on SPC Chart and showing as USL/LSL

    Hi All,
I am willing to change the wording on the Legend for SPC chart. As USL and LSL both hold same colour on the chart. I would like to show it as USL/LSL instead of two separate strings on Legend followed by colour. Can it be done....?
    Regards,
    Ravi Kumar

No.  It is better to train the users
Another option would be to turn off the legend and create your own 'legend' with a small html table.

  • SPC Chart and Tag Name starting with a Number

On a 11.5.3 (latest build) install, we've found that SPC Charts don't like tag names that start with numeric characters.  The data points just don't plot.  I can right click and get the data, but there are no points on the chart.  All other applets work fine with the same tags.  Has anyone else seen this?

    Hey Rick,
We did try that and it worked.  Also when creating the tags in the UDS Admin, I don't believe the UDS Admin will allow for this scenario (along with funky characters like pipes "|").  However, we are using an alias file (export from Historian into Excel, into SQL, and tweaked via Xacute) where the UDS Admin rules aren't enforced, which might be the inherent problem here.
I just thought that if the applets allowed it, the iSPCChart should also.
    Thanks.

  • Setting LSL, USL and Target in SPC Chart

I need to set my LSL, Target and USL of an SPC Chart to nothing.  Is the below param correct to do this?  I have tried this and it seems to set them at 0.  This then throws my chart off as far as SPC control limits goes.  I can not simply open display editor and change this because more than one chart depends on this display.
    <param name="USLColumn" value="">
    <param name="LSLColumn" value="">
    <param name="TargetColumn" value="">

Why do you need to set them to "nothing" - shouldn't you be using another type of chart (e.g. custom chart, line/marker chart, etc.)?
In any case, simply deselect showing the LSL/Target/USL in the display template editor.
    <param name="UpperShowSpecificationLimits" value="false">
    <param name="LowerShowSpecificationLimits" value="false">

  • Calling up a Performance Manger SPC Chart from a WebI document

    Post Author: satwar

Please forgive my terminology, as I'm only a superuser of B.O. not a computer trained person.I have put a few years into configuring WebI document reports in InfoView of B.O. XI 2.  Our company is getting into SPC in a big way, hence my attention has turned to Performance Manager.  I was disappointed to learn that I have to create a whole new Universe of objects in Performance Manager in order to conduct SPC analysis on the variables I have been reporting in tables & graphs in WebI documents in InfoView.I can learn to accept that aspect of B.O. but I am a little concerned about my users having to navigate through Performance Manager to view SPC analytics.  My users have put up considerable resistance just navigating to WebI documents in InfoView.Hope seemed to be around the corner when I read about calling up Performance Manager analytics from WebI documents.  Having read the details it seems like these WebI documents are created in the Performance Manager Universe, not in the Infoview WebI documents that I have already developed in InfoView. If anyone can explain and clarify how this feature works, I'd be eternally grateful.

You can Link any documents that are stored as objects in the cmc, regardless of the universe or way in which they were created.openAnalytic.jsp will allow you to open pretty much anything much as does openDocument  int the webi world.Once you create the SPC chart in process analysis youll need to view it in the control chart screen then click save as and save it into one of you folders in the corp repository. When this is done you can quickly get an example of the URI syntax by going to create new document in dashboard manger, selecting interactive metric trends, expanding navigation and legend opions, clicking browse, selecting your newly saved analytic and clicking ok.  This will but a url into the text box which you can copy and paste into your webi doc links - here's an example of the kind of thing... openAnalytic.jsp?DocumentName=MySPCanalytictest&RepositoryType=C&RepositoryName=SPCTest&DocumentExt=afd&DocumentId=AadTAN28x6lMpTxxlAhW09s&mode=full You may need to stick the odd ../../ or /jsp/ etc in front of the url depecing where you plan to call it from of course. You'll find descriptions of parameters etc for openAnalytic in the product docs. cheers, jez.

  • SPC chart for Qualitytative MIC?

    Hi All,
1)Please suggest me SPC chart will also valid for Qualitytative MIC?
2)Whats are ohers charts are possible in QM?
    Regards,
    sid

Per my knowledge, SAP does not have SPC charts for Attribute / Qualitative characteristics. Even if you want to do the analysis outside of SAP, through QM - STI interface, this interface does not support qualitative characteristics.
Other charts you have is Histogram, Run charts. If you are in higher versions of SAP (EHP 2), SAP has given a new **** pit for evaluations, you can access it thru QGA4. Check OSS, SAP has released a consulting note on this. You can do variery of analysis and various chart options are available in this **** pit.
    I hope this helps.

  • SPC Chart step by step procedure

    Dear All,
We are implementing SAP in one automobile industry, now they r using SPC for Inprocess Analysis. So every month once they checking Graph.

In sampling Procedure what Valuation Mode and Control chart type i hve to use ( Here lot of chart type available)?
In MIC what are all Prerequisites required.?
In Inspection for spc mic which spc criterion i have to choose?
Kindly explain me step by step procedure for this scenerio.

    Hi,
Here is the step by step procedure.
In MIC in the control indicators activate the indicator SPC characteristic.
in the sampling Procedure use valuation mode as SPC inspection as shown below and  then assign the control chart type. What control chart type to be used it depends on the business or client requirement.
Now SPC criteria also depends on the business requirement. accordingly choose the required one in the inspection plan for MIC.
Normally configuration is not required much here.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Value Columns - SPC chart

    Hi,
i want to pass / set value columns at run time in SPC chart. i know the value column only at run time. i created one query template with giving table name and select query like select [param.1],date1 form temp1. i set attribute column of data mapping as date1. Say temp1 contains columns like Faran, temperature. i will choose any one of these column from front end. and i want to set that column name in value columns of data mapping. i tried with
document.<my applet>.getChartObject().setValueColumns("temperature"). but it displayed error as object doesnt support this property.
    how to do it?
    -senthil

    Senthil
First get the desired column name from the Query Template which gives the column names (eg Faren, Temp etc).
say that QT name - QTTemp which is saved in some defined folder in ur system.
    then
    Use following
    1. document.<AppletForQTTemp>.getQueryObject().setParam(1,"?"); where "?" is the input param to be passed to that QT
    2. document.<AppletForQTTemp>.executeCommand();
    3. document.<AppletForSPCChart>.getChartObject().setValueColumns(document.<AppletForQTTemp>.getColumnName("?")); where "?" is the column number of the desired column u want to set.

  • Live Charts and Gauges in Interactive Reporting

    Hi All,
Im trying to create a Live chart and a Gauge for my dashboard in IR 11.1.1.3 Ver.
I see the them in the design mode.. but when i try to add the FACT value it doesnt allow me to do it.
Even if i try to see the report in the run mode i get blank screen.
I tried even with a simple result which has
    Fact Target
    Service1 100
    Service2 95
And can i use these Live charts and Gauges with Essbase as the source??
Is there any prerequisite for the Live charts and gauges to display the data..
Any document or post on the above problem will be helpful.

the cannot be any null records in the facts or dimensions used.
are you sure the adobe components are properly installed...can you open/view other analysis that use Live Charts or sliders/guages?

  • Specification limits on SPC Chart

    Hi All,
I created a SPC chart with specification limits enabled. If user has provided lower spec limits without upper spec limits then it is taking the upper spec limit value as 0.0 by default. I would like to have limits to be one-sided.
    For example:
An attribute should be at least 232,if its lower we have a problem. But there's no upper spec limit on it. The higher number we have the better.
If I put a very high number on the query, like 10000, that disturbs the Y-axis scale and shows Y-axis 0-10000, which does not show a good picture. So we need a way to enable only 1 spec limit, and keep other disabled as need.
Hoping to get a answer for this.

    Hi,
Anyone has any answers for this one as to whether it can be done or not.

  • 12.1:  SPC Chart - Calculate Control Limits logic/rules?

    Hi,
    I'm using 12.1 SP4 Patch 4 currently.
    1.  For SPC charts, there is a checkbox for Calculate Control Limits under the Control Limits for the Upper Chart Tab.  What rules/formula does MII use for calculating the control limits?  (I tried it and it looked correct but users want to verify how it calculates). See link for example:  http://gunston.gmu.edu/708/XmR.asp?E=0
    2.  What does it do if Limits already exist for the input data set?  Ignore the calculation?
    3.  Can this be set dynamically and refresh the SPC chart?   (Set the Calculate Control Limits
UpperCalculateControlLimits Boolean property and refresh the chart?  I've sometimes had issues setting these dynamic properties and having them take effect in charts so want to verify)
    Thanks,
    Kerby

    1.  I think you would already have the SPC help PDF document that has the formulas in it - Rob or Leey?  In general, 3 sigma or standard deviation above and below the centerline(mean) based entirely upon the dataset returned by the underlying query template.
    2.  The Auto-Calc will take precedence over static limits, and the chart will use them accordingly.  I'm not entirely sure, but if you look at the Summary Statistics popup from the applet you'll see EFFECTIVE and EST properties that will vary based upon the Auto Calc being enabled.
    3.  Yes, you should be able to 'check' the box through JavaScript and have the chart update with them.  If you have issues with specific script then go ahead and post that snippet as a separate thread.

  • 12.1 SPC Chart: Using Nelson rules instead of WECO?

    Hi,
I want to apply the Nelson rules to the SPC chart instead of WECO?  How and where is that configured in 12.1?  (I believe it was a server level configuration in 11.5 but can't find it in 12.1 or the help).
The 12.1 help just refers to how WECO rules are applied to the SPC chart.
    Thanks,
    Kerby

This reference is obviously not directly MII related but does highlight some of the WECO vs. Nelson (where Nelson was an update to the original WECO) applications:

All of the alarm configurations are available to you in a common place and many have X of Y configuration options as well so you can put your own spin on the alarm criteria.

  • Dynamically displaying SPC Chart Title

    Hi
I have created SPC Chart Disply.I did dynamic change of chart types(like xbar,xbar-range). Now i want to  reset the Chart title property dynamically. if any methods available.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Malini.V

This method and all of the other helpful get/set syntax methods are easy found by using the Script Assistant, which is part of the Productivity Tool installation that you can add to your client workstation by running the Wizard Install link found in the xMII Menu's Visualization Services section.
If you are working on a dynamic SPC charting application you might also be able to learn from some pre-installed content:  http://localhost/Lighthammer/Samples/SPC/Servers.irpt

  • Viewing SPC chart - how?

    Hi
I am quite new with MII. I am experimenting the SPC example from the QualityPortal and I do have connection to the SQL server and the QualityPortal project also successfully imported. I could also see the template loaded in Workbench.
However how do I view the SPC chart (applet)?.  What I did was in IE, i entered
http://<server>:<port>/XMII/SPCChartServlet?DisplayTemplate=QualityPortal (ofcourse the actual server and port name). However I got this error message
"Template was not found, cannot load QualityPortal"
    any suggestion? thanks in advance
    seng

    Hi,
Did you check that display templete is avaialble in the project root folder.
Also I think you havenot passed the qurey template to the display template.Just map the query template(from data mapping tab) to the SPC Chart display template. Then go for executing this display template in workbench.
You can also use Dynamic Page Generator for viewing the chart.
