SPDIF-In not working. Vista 32b

Well... This makes for post #3 in the last 24 hours... My new problem is getting my SPDIF-in working with surround sound?on my X-Fi Fatalty (the full set with front panel and remote) while running Vista Ultimate 32bit. I tried going into the Audio console, but it's no real use. I set the SPDIF-in to default in the Windows mixer, but the Audio console won't give me the options it used to about SPDIF DTS settings like it did in XP, making stereo sound all that will work... So my Xbox 360 can't send 5. to it, I have to set it to stereo. What should I do?

Well basically it is possible, and I've found this out. Apparently Dell released a driver or something that allows it to work, but then only if you install a 3rd party modified xp version of the creative suite. I don't remember where I found it, but it was through google... Using some term including x-fi, dts, and vista.... Can't seem to find it now. Anyway, it had a download for the whole creative suite that was modified from the xp version for Vista, however it was buggy as hell, caused driver issues and blue screens, and ended up causing me to have to reinstall Vista altogether again. In other words, it's possible, but I don't recommend it until it's officially supported... Don't know when this will be yet... *crosses fingers*
Luckily I've got a dual OS system with XP too, and I switch to that when I want to use my Xbox 360... However due to Microsoft also being terrible in that department... I now get entertainment off of its 3 red lights... (For those of you who don't know, 3 red lights = hardware error. Sending into microsoft for repair typically is a 2 month process... I'm still waiting on my prepaid shipping box to arri've and it's been 4 days... Will be a similar wait to get it to them, 4-6 weeks for them to actually repair, and another week or so to get it all shipped back). Although even when the console worked, my dsl modem sometimes cut out when playing on Xbox li've and dropped signals, reported errors, etc.
What is with the companies producing technology nowadays? I just want to play Gears in 5. on Xbox li've... *cries*Message Edited by Supercoolyo on 07-22-20070:54 AM

  • Audigy Platinum Ex Windows 7 SPDIF IN not working

Audigy Platinum Ex Windows 7 SPDIF IN not working? I have an old Audigy Platinum Ex that has served me well, until now when I have a new Windows 7 x64 PC (RTM). SPDIF IN no longer works, though everything else does (including SPDIF OUT). I've tried the current and beta drivers for the card, and no difference.
In Windows Vista x64 I could use ASIO drivers with my M-Audio ProFire 60 while using the Audigy for PC audio. Most often this was for skype, which I would set to use SPDIF IN/OUT which I then connected to the ProFires SPDIF OUT/IN. Using the ProFire mixing tool, I could control which mics and levels went to the Audigy while not interfereing with the ASIO drivers recording the mics. The ProFire also recorded the SPDIF OUT from the Audigy to caputre the person on Skype to their own audio track. This is a podcast producer's heaven, and I miss it!
If it's a known issue (SPDIF IN / Win 7), I've had this card through 4 PC upgrades and it's served me well enough I don't mind buying new. The Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Elite Pro looks to be the current version of my Ex - are there any Windows 7 issues currently that would stop me from using it in the role above? I will miss the FireWire port, a shame they dropped that.

  • SPDIF In not working, no SPDIF tab in Entertainment mode, X-FI Extreme PCI

    Hi All,
I am trying toget the SPDIF input working with my HDTV as the source of the audio input. I have looked everywhere in these forums and there are many references to the SPDIF tab in Entertainment mode, but this does not exist in my software. I have done the software auto update and it tells me I have the latest software and drivers. How do I get the SPDIF input to work. I would think it should be as easy as turning on this input, but I cannot figure out how. HELP!!

  • Qosmio G30-102 Optical SPDIF out not working

I have bought new Qosmio G30-102 and I am quite sure that SPDIF Optical Out connector is not working.
I can't test it at the moment, but I had a couple of SPDIF sound cards and every one of them had a red light on all the time, which signalized that Optical SPDIF is supported.

    Hi,
maybe I would first try a SPDIF device, if I were you, because I agree with the user before, it has definetively a SPDIF out.

  • DV9930US Internal Microphone not working (Vista & Windows7)

    Hi,
I've had my DV9930US for awhile, but up until recently, I haven't used either the webcam or the internal microphone.
I'm preparing for a trip, so I thought I'd see if I could get something like Skype setup, but I'm finding that the internal microphone doesn't seem to work (doesn't hear anything).   Audio output seems to work fine, and, also, if I plug an external microphone into the jack in the front, under the keyboard, that seems to work...  it's just the internal microphones (there are two, I think, at the top of the display, surrounding the webcam) that are not working ...
Everything seems to be ok in Device Manager.  Under "Sound", I have "Realtek High Definition Audio".  The driver is dated 1/15/08, V6.0.1.5548.
I've tried testing with Sound Recorder, and I've also tested using the "Configure Microphone", but it never shows any bars, and the file that Sound Recorder recorded is basically silent.
I still have the original Vista Home Premium on this machine and also Windows 7 Ultimate (I dual  boot), and even the original Vista seems to have the same problem.
I've seen some posts here with problems with G60s, but no resolutions, so I was wondering if anyone might know what
    the problem might be?
    Thanks!
    Jim
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
For the record, I finally found the problem.
In the DV9930US, there's a small (1"x1") PCB called the "power button board".  This has the power button, and 3 pinned connectors, plus a flat cable connector.
The microphones in the display bezel connect to one of the 3 pinned connectors, and the flat cable goes, I think to the actual audio board.
I had replaced the microphones, which didn't fix the problem, so I bought a replacement power button board, which luckily, came with a new flat cable.
It turned out that the original flat cable going from the power button board to the audio board was bad.
I replaced the flat cable, and then the internal mics worked.

  • XBox 360/Audigy: SPDIF IN pass through to SPDIF OUT not working with 5.1

    Hi,
I've a problem passing my digital dobly signal from my 360 over the Audigy soundblaster to my external decoder. I want to use digital SPDIF IN from the audigy?IO device to pass the signal directly without processing to the external decoder by using the SPDIF OUT.
There is only one digital in at the decoder, so I need this combination if I want my PC and XBox to be connected both without a toslink switch.
I activated the pass through and external decoder option in the audigy console application. I also disabled the DDL encoder. Additionally I set my Windows 7 speaker settings to use SPDIF OUT as standard device.
This is working for every dolby digital signal?from a dvd which I play on my PC, but not for the XBox signal. The signal is not recognized as a 5. dolby digital signal, but as a 2.0 signal. So something must happen with the signal in the audigy. The XBox settings are correct, because when I connect the toslink cable directly to the decoder everything works fine.
My drivers are the newest one (3.8)?from the support pack.
I don't want to use the DDL option, because the latency is much to high to allow regular playing!
Is there a possibility to pass the XBox signal through to my decoder by using the digital in and out of the audigy?
    Thanks in advance,
    Axel

Hi I have the same probleme, exept that I have succesfuly pluged my home theater receiver and the 5.1 works. Just my subwoofer seems not to work properly. Like when I plug it into a digital dvd player it works very nicely. but when pluged into the sound card it seems that it dosnt have any signal for it.
ANy clues??? I know i pluged everything finely I have tested the sound test for each speaker and sub to, from the receiver and from the creative software the sub seems to work but very quietly even if I cran the volume up on the sub or in the software , the sub dont work as it should.
1 thing I remarqued is that the sub works occasionaly in some movies. When listening to the music it not working and I dont understand that.

  • K7n2g ILSR and SPDIF output not working

just got a new k7n2g ILSR mobo and cant get the coaxial spdif output to work.
Have attached the s bracket connector and a coaxial cable from that to my videologic digitheatre. My speakers don't seem to be receiving any signal however. Checked the audio settings on the nforce control panel and all seems sweet. any suggestions?
    Thanks for any replies

I have the very same problem. I thought that the S-Bracket was defected so I borrowed one from a friend of mine. We have the very same board and we bought it the very same day. And it did not work either. :(
Then I made a little test. The user's manual displays the pin layout of the S-Bracket connector on the mobo so I connected two little wires to the appropriate connectors and connected the wires to a standard RCA connector. Then I connected this to my receiver's coax port and it worked!
So it seems to me that the S-Bbracket was (and IS) defected. Then I thought that my friend and I had the same faulty series of S-Bracket but now I don't know what to think...

No one has this problem at all?
I want to find out for sure if there is a fix before going back to the older drivers.
If i do the test in the spdif out properties panel -> supported formats. When I do the dolby digital test I see the light come on in my receiver and hear sound just thru the front speakers. But when I use power DVD 9 ultra with the latest patch. I don't get the digital light on my receiver. I had this working with the previous drivers released earlier this year.

  • Audigy 2 problems with spdif out not working and cracking appear

    Hello everyone,
I am new in this forum but after searching through it i decided to post as i din't find a problem exactly similar to mine.
I have a Creative audigy 2 ZS plugged on my computer with this configuration : Gygabyte P35 DS3, Quad core Q6600, Kingston 2 gb.
From the beginning of my purchase i did not have any problem of cracking or connection problems in spdif with digital din in either XP or Vista. Last week end i decided to re install XP after a virus infection with XP SWEET wich install directly the drivers of my peripherals like the audigy.
The audigy is connected to my speakers : Creative? 5. kit 5700 via the digital din connection and without any analog connection as i selected digital out only in my settings.
Everything was working fine until 2 days ago when? while watching a divx the sound stopped working. i checked everything in m connection and everything was good as well as my speakers. finally i connected the audigy via analog cables to the speakers to find that, if i select digital out only no sound could be heard and finally that poping and cracking sounds started to appear.
I don't know what happened with my system as it never did that before in any of my configurations.
When i reboot my computer, the digital out start working again to finally stop 5 minutes later.
If somebody can help me is help would be most welcome.
    Thank you!

Well, I do not know much about the red light thingy, but if the S-Bracket works well, it should be not problem, unless you can't get anything from the S-Bracket.

  • Touch screen on tablet not working - Vista driver issue (self-inflicted)

I recently tried to update some drivers on my HP tx1220us tablet computer using some 3rd party software.  Long story short, I messed up the driver to the tablet touch screen.  When I try to Calibrate , it says tablet hardware not found.  I know it's not a hardware issue because the pc dual-boots and the other O/S side (Win7) works fine.  Which driver is the Vista driver for the digitizer hardware?  Thanks for any help.

  • C4380 wireless not working - Vista

I have a HP C4380 printer that has worked in the past but  perhaps due to an update either from HP or from Norton - not sure which, or if that is even the proglem but it will no longer print.  It works on my desk top computer fine and the Digital Imaging monitor indicates that it is connected.  When I print it ends up with an error and nothing happens.  I have tried rebooting my computer and turning the printer on and off and nothing!  This is the first time I have had an issue when the monitor indicates that it is connected.  Oh, I fogot to mention I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 that runs on Vista.
Thanks so much!  I have a class tomorrow night and this is the only computer that has the software I can print from!
    Wend

Download the Network Diagnostic Utility from here.  Run the NDU and after it starts, select "Show Advanced Tools".  The NDU the will then spend a few minutes looking for your printer.
Tell me if it finds your C4380.  If it does, then we know that your printer is on the network and can communicate with your Vista computer.
I'll assume that the printer was found.
Open up the printer folder and right click on your C4380 printer and select Properties.  Click on the port tab and then Configure Port.  Tell me the entry in the Printer Name or IP Address box.  If its an IP address, does it match the IP address of the printer from the NDU screen?
If the IP addresses are different, open the printer's internal web page by selecting the printer from the NDU screen and selecting the "Open Printer Page" button.  From the web page, select Networking and then Wireless (802.11).  Under theIPv4 Configuration tab, select Manual IP:
For Manual IP Address, use the existing printer IP address.
For Manual Subnet Mask, use 255.255.255.0
For Manual Default Gateway, leave blank.
    Select Manual DNS Server:
Leave both the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields empty.
Press Apply.  See if you can print now.

  • Speakers not working - Vista

I have a HP Pavilion DV6-1131ea Notebook running on Windows Vista 32-bit SP2. The speakers are no longer working although in device manager they are said to be working properly. All the settings for sound look fine.
I uninstalled the IDT High Def Audio Codec Driver and re-installed the correct one from the HP website. This didn't work. Then I updated the driver. No change. Finally I noticed that in windows update there was an "optional" update for the IDT driver so I updated that. Still no change in that speakers don't produce sound, but now the orangemute light is lit and can't be pressed off, and after the update a message came up with something like this - the program wasn't working so it would be closed and windows would try to find a solution.
Do I need to remove the last update I did, and what else can I do to try to fix this?
    Hope you can help!

    Hi,
The first hardware id relates to audio over an HDMI connection - this should be installed ( although it's not obvious ) by your graphics software, so first of all, download and reinstall your AMD graphics software on th following link.
AMD Graphics Installer - Windows Vista 32bit.
When this installation has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, download the IDT Audio installer again ( unless you still have this installer ) on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42501-43000/sp42583.exe
When the download has completed, open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you still have audio now.
    Best regards,

okay so i just upgraded my x-fi drivers to the latest release and the "what u hear" recording option became available... only problem is it doesn't function as it's supposed to, i.e. it's not receiving the audio signal from the output, so when i go to record i get nothing... i have it activated in the sound options and i have it selected as the recording source... what do i have to do to get it functioning? [email protected]

    coldpenguin,
I can't recall much info for the Audigy but see if the option is listed in the properties setting. Open sounds and audio devices and go to audio tab. Click at Volume button of the 'Sound Recording' column. Now click on Options->Properties. Do you have that option listed?
