Spdif in windows 7
I'm having trouble getting spdif output to work in windows 7. I have and old audigy model SB0090 and have been trying to get it to work properly in windows 7 for a couple months now. I just applied the newest beta driver for the audigy series but had no luck with it. I'm running a dual boot and it works fine in XP, but cant get anything through spdif on windows 7. I'm connected to a yamaha 5. reciever and have everything set correctly to pass the signal through for it to decode. I was wondering if I need to purchase the DDL license to get it to work in windows 7, since I thiink that's the only thing I haven't tried. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I read in a Win7 forum that they were able to get it work by copying one of the MPEG DLLs from Vista. Apparently the DLL in Win7 doesn't support SPDIF passthru. I haven't tried it yet, but that maybe a solution? I don't know if that's the best stable solution though. I'll try to find the posting link...

Audigy 2, spdif dropouts windows 7x64
%Audigy 2, spdif dropouts windows 7x64B hello, i have this problem with dropouts in windows 7, every few seconds the sound pops, there's no problem when listening to a stereo signal through the spdif, only with the dts/ac3 passthrough.
i have searched far and wide for a solution for this problem but it seems fruitless.
i saw a thread regarding this error in vista from last year with no solution found...
does anyone else have this problem nowadays? is there a work around or should i just wait for newer drivers?
now my real question is this, is there a creative soundcard that works as intended in windows 7?
i'm thinking of upgrading but i see many similar threads about the x-fi series, i don't want to spend alot of money and come home with the same problem....
thanks /Bj?rn) this stuff is bananas
i actually stumbled upon a solution!
i put the ac3codec to wave output, speakers as default output in win7 devices.
now if i just start a movie, the dropouts start clicking, most likely clock-error (jitter)
BUT!
if i start a mp3 in winamp before the movie that locks my reciever to 96khz stereo, and then start the movie wich shifts it to ac3 movie mode, there's no jitter...
as i said. bananas. -
can the spdif bracket still work if i replace the onboard sound with a pci card 5.1 channel, can i still benefit from the digital output???
thanx in advanceNope won't work anymore unless you'll switch between soundcard's when you want to use the SPDIF (in windows)

No SPDIF (digital audio out) on Advanced dock with T60p/Vista
Hello,
Has anyone used the RCA jack on the back of the advanced dock to send digital audio to a home theater system? It's not working for me. Here are some of the particulars of my situation.
Windows Vista SP1 (but I had the same problem under XP; yesterday's upgrade to Vista was in hopes of solving this)
Windows Media Center setup wizard recognizes the presence of the SPDIF output
Windows audio setup recognizes the presence of the SPDIF output and claims it's working (screenshot below)
Coaxial digital audio cable is good (tested this by using a SqueezeBox2 to pass audio through it into the receiver)
Receiver is good and configured properly (tested this by using a SqueezeBox2 to drive the same input over coaxial SPDIF)
Audio driver is SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio 6.10.1.5500, dated 7/24/2007
ThinkPad T60p BIOS is 2.22
No sound comes out no matter what I do
Here are a few screenshots.
http://spblat.googlepages.com/sound0.png
http://spblat.googlepages.com/sound1.png
http://spblat.googlepages.com/sound2.png
http://spblat.googlepages.com/sound3.png
There may be a clue in this last one. When I click "Test" my receiver "flaps" between displaying "Stereo" and "Dolby Digital" about twice per second, as though it's trying but failing to get a lock on the signal. Remember that the cable and receiver are tested good with another digital audio source.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, this is driving me nuts!
Message Edited by spblat on 07-10-2008 05:55 PMHey!
I reverted back to the old drivers and got my SPDIF Port working again.
Link to the old version is here:

Make sure you install this before the drivers after you uninstall the old ones:

Please let me know if this works for you.

2 issues with X-Fi Titanium software (Dolby Digital related)
These arnt anything major but worth fixing IMO.
1. There is a slightly noticable sound quality drop in nati've Dolby Digital sources when using the "Speakers" as the defualt device compared to using SPDIF in Windows playback devices.
For example I have a movie encoded in Dolby Digital, I use the optical input on my 5. and leave "Speakers" as default device in Windows playerback devices, this way I can add effects such as CMSS3D EQ etc, but leaving EVERYTHING off the SQ is not as good as selecting SPDIF in Playback devices, the major downside though is having SPDIF in windows audio panel bypasses any settings in the creative console.
I realise this may be an issue with Windows rather than Creative.
2. Dolby Digital remains enabled when Headphones is automatically Activated / When Dolby Digital is activated with headphones 5. sound is used but the center, sub and 2 rear channels dont get passed.
I have my entertainment mode set to 5. wich automatically switches to Headphones when I plug them in.
I used Windows playback devices to do a speaker check, this is always set to 5. and the creative console never overrides this.
When I test my headphones with DD off I hear all 6 channels in my headphones, when I enable Dolby Digital I only hear the front left and front right channel, if headphones mode is suppose to be automated it should automatically adjust for Dolby Digital either by disabling it until the headphones are unplugged or to pass all 6 channels to the headphones like it otherwise normally would.Edit: I now installed the Dolby Digital Live drivers, that were hidden on the download page until I pressed "All".
The DDL option now appears under "Encoder", but still there's not sound coming through. -
Audigy Platinum Ex Windows 7 SPDIF IN not working
Audigy Platinum Ex Windows 7 SPDIF IN not working? I have an old Audigy Platinum Ex that has served me well, until now when I have a new Windows 7 x64 PC (RTM). SPDIF IN no longer works, though everything else does (including SPDIF OUT). I've tried the current and beta drivers for the card, and no difference.
In Windows Vista x64 I could use ASIO drivers with my M-Audio ProFire 60 while using the Audigy for PC audio. Most often this was for skype, which I would set to use SPDIF IN/OUT which I then connected to the ProFires SPDIF OUT/IN. Using the ProFire mixing tool, I could control which mics and levels went to the Audigy while not interfereing with the ASIO drivers recording the mics. The ProFire also recorded the SPDIF OUT from the Audigy to caputre the person on Skype to their own audio track. This is a podcast producer's heaven, and I miss it!
If it's a known issue (SPDIF IN / Win 7), I've had this card through 4 PC upgrades and it's served me well enough I don't mind buying new. The Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Elite Pro looks to be the current version of my Ex - are there any Windows 7 issues currently that would stop me from using it in the role above? I will miss the FireWire port, a shame they dropped that.Well basically it is possible, and I've found this out. Apparently Dell released a driver or something that allows it to work, but then only if you install a 3rd party modified xp version of the creative suite. I don't remember where I found it, but it was through google... Using some term including x-fi, dts, and vista.... Can't seem to find it now. Anyway, it had a download for the whole creative suite that was modified from the xp version for Vista, however it was buggy as hell, caused driver issues and blue screens, and ended up causing me to have to reinstall Vista altogether again. In other words, it's possible, but I don't recommend it until it's officially supported... Don't know when this will be yet... *crosses fingers*
Luckily I've got a dual OS system with XP too, and I switch to that when I want to use my Xbox 360... However due to Microsoft also being terrible in that department... I now get entertainment off of its 3 red lights... (For those of you who don't know, 3 red lights = hardware error. Sending into microsoft for repair typically is a 2 month process... I'm still waiting on my prepaid shipping box to arri've and it's been 4 days... Will be a similar wait to get it to them, 4-6 weeks for them to actually repair, and another week or so to get it all shipped back). Although even when the console worked, my dsl modem sometimes cut out when playing on Xbox li've and dropped signals, reported errors, etc.
What is with the companies producing technology nowadays? I just want to play Gears in 5. on Xbox li've... *cries*Message Edited by Supercoolyo on 07-22-20070:54 AM -
X-FI Titanium + DDL Encoding + SPDIF Out Configuration on Windows 7 x64
?My setup - I have an X-FI Titanium running on Windows 7 x64. The optical out of the X-FI is connected to a splitter - one goes to my speakers (Logitech z-5500) and the other goes to my headphone amp (Astro Mixamp). I'm running the latest beta driver and daniel's last support pack, along with the latest DDL and DTS packages.
When I enable DDL encoding in the creative panel, it says I have to set the default device to be Creative X-FI (Speakers). Why not SPDIF out? If I set SPDIF Out as the default device, I get no sound. If I reboot, I get a blue screen.
If I set speakers as default, I get sound from both the speakers (if I connect analog) and optical out. I thought this configuration wasn't possible anymore on Vista/Windows 7?they dont want you to use spidf out because the console doesnt control it and doesn't give you any enhacments at all. either turn the software volume control to 0, or unplug them.

X-Fi XtremeMusic and SPDIF bypass with Windows 7
Hello
I moved from Windows Vista to Windows 7 (64 Bit) now I wanted to use the SPDIF bypass option with the Digital I/O Module again, but in the "SPDIF E/A" tab the drop down box "Settings for SPDIF input" is disabled.
What I need to do to get the SPDIF bypass to work again?
(I don't need any Dobly/DTS decoding - it's just a simple?PCM signal.)
Best regards and thanks in advance
AndreasRe: X-Fi XtremeMusic and SPDIF bypass with Windows 7l Hello hwoarang5,
why do you think that this is disabled in Windows 7 and Vista?
It worked fine in Windows Vista, too.
Anyway, I've searched yesterday evening?a little bit more and solved the problem myself. To enable SPDIF bypass you have to do the following:
. enable Digital Input in the Windows 7 sound settings (it'sis disabled by default and I forgot about it).
2. change the FlexiJack mode in the audio settings of Creative to "Digital E/A".
3. now enable the "Recordation with bit adjustment" (don't know how this is called exactly in the English version).
When there is a PCM (DTS and Dolby is not supported) signal now at the Digital Input you should here something now.
Hope this helps somebody.
Best regards

P43 C51 Windows 7 x86 SPDIF HDMI question
With the above board, I have an Asus 9500GT (with HDMI) and everything is working perfect.
If I want to output HD video over the HDMI from the 9500GT to my 720P LCD television, I only get sound if I first go to 'Sound' in Control Panel and make 'Digital Audio S/PDIF' my default device. When I'm done and want to switch back to my PC and listen to MP3s or something, I have to set 'Speakers' as my default device.
I guess there's no way to automatically set things so that if I'm displaying video over HDMI onto my LCD tv, the default sound device will automatically switch to Digital Audio is there?
If this is a silly question (sounds like it might be) I'm sorry......... it's 11:45pm and I'm super tired so maybe my brain isn't working 100%?Quote from: Henry on 20-March-10, 08:56:17
I suppose we'll have to wait till he gets home and tries that Skype thing he mentioned.
Good news..... I set my default playback device to 'Speakers' in the Sound applet in Control Panel. Then, I launched Skype and configured it to use 'Digital Audio'. Next, I started an MP3 playing.
The MP3 was coming out of my normal speakers via WMP and I slid Skype over to the 2nd display (my 720P LCD tv) and all Skype audio was on the TV speakers! (audio over HDMI)
So it appears that if an application can be configured to output to SPDIF, you can leave 'Speakers' as your default sound output device in the Control Panel and whatever app can be configured to use SPDIF will output it's sound over HDMI to your TV. -
Unable to enable DTS NEO:PC - X-Fi - Windows 7 - SPDIF
I can enable DTS, but when I try to enable cinema or music mode it is grayed out.
Near the bottom it says "DTS Neo:PC does not support the selected sampling rate. click the Change button and select either 44 kHz or 48 kHz.
So I click on change, and the only sampling rate that is enabled is 48 kHz. ?
Any thoughts?Ah that's what I am afraid of.
Quoted from the article in your message: "For SB073X series : Supports Microphone-in, Line-in and Optical out connections. On a SB073X series card, this jack does not have the Digital-in function to support the Digital I/O Module. It does however connects to external digital audio devices that accept stereo PCM or compressed Dolby Digital/DTS Bitstream from the Optical output. This will require using a "Toslink to Mini Toslink" cable for connection only." -
Satellite U400-15E - Upgraded to Windows 7 32-bit now NO sound through HDMI
I upgraded from vista to windows 7 32-bit, now i have no HDMI device shown under playback devices, i have installed new windows 7 drivers but still no luck. Under device manager/sound a HDMI device is shown as enabled and when connected to an external TV video is shown but no HDMI sound. please can someone help......
I have found out the solution to get HDMI sound to the TV
1. Right click volume icon on taskbar
2. Select playback devices
3. Right Click on SPDIF Interface and select Default Communications Device.
4. Connect HDMI from TV to Laptop
5. HDMI Device should be selected automatically.
When HDMI is disconnected the HDMI device is shown as disabled in playback devices whereas previously this device wasn''t shown at all. -
Hi
Does anyone know How to run twin monitors on a MacBook Pro operating on a Windows Server 2008 R2 ?I know this doesn't help you much, but, I think you have to see if your Mac pro does audio out via HDMI. I don't even know if mine does via DVI. I think it may have to do with the adapter. Try going into Audio MIDI and setting the digital out to multichannel
and using the toslink cable for now. Lemme see...apparently DVI does not carry audio at all. Hm. apparently monoprice could be helpful? If I understand what you're saying correctly: you want to take DVI and multichannel audio via the Toslink and have it all go out over HDMI, right? Whooo..... amazon...looks like it's about $100http://www.amazon.com/Audio-SPDIF-Toslink-Converter-Adapter/dp/B0015YYOQQ
just a shot in the dark
I'm probably wrong....or not

Download and install the Audio driver on the link below.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50720.exe
When this installation has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Flash audio level drop outs (Windows 8.1)
Hey,
Using adobe flash, I've been having issues with to audio nearly dropping out to nearly inaudible levels on mutiple websites. Anything that does use the flash player, it seems to be triggered when I plug in another device into the computer for use, or charging although it doesn't seem to be 100% consistant and seems less likely after reinitiating the flash player, but would happen after having the flash player open for a longer period of time then attaching a device. My current work around is to either load up a different browser e.g. Google Chrome, which will use it's own plugin container containing another instance of flash. Or to end task on flash from my task manager, then reload the page. which would restore proper audio levels. This does not appear to be specific to one webpage, or to one brower.

Driver: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVSo looking further into things, it seemed to have started happening since I installed Steam. While steams loader was active in the background it would cause the flash audio to drop out. I don't know any reason why it would cause this, but have just disabled steam from starting up at all. Any insight on why these two programs would clash and cause audio issues would be greatly appreciated.

Audigy 4 Pro + Windows 7 Please Help
Hi
First let me ensure you that i tried everything else before annoying you guys with my problem. an estimated 0 times of trying to get audigy 4 pro to work on win 7 with the original drivers and now i tried Daniel K.s Drivers. I appreciate what he has done to help so many with theyr driver issues, but sadly the driver isnt getting me far. first the informations about my system.
Win 7 (64)
Audigy 4 Pro
7. Inspire T7700 Speakers
Phenom II Quad 940
Radeon HD5850 BE
4. GB Ram
Just realized an interesting fact. when my speakers are the standard device for Playing? sounds and not the SPDIF-OUT from creative wmp and vlc work with 7/7 speakers playing sound while the bsplayer only plays 2/7, but when the SPDIF is the standard and the speakers are the communication device(seems wierd) the bsplayer works(7/7) but the wmp and vlc only play sound from 2/7 . AND whats really hard for me, All games are only playing from 2/7? :mansad: its not fun to play Bad company 2 with sound only coming from 2 of 7 speakers (settings are all in order to support 3d sound so its not the game, checked that with several FAQs etc.)
I would greatly appreciate any help to this problem, i wouldnt like to plug everything out and deinstall the drivers and loose my nice remote control and external receiver box since i just installed everything.
Thanks to everyone who decices to help me in this matter.
PS: In the windows sound setting test all speakers work perfectly, even with the normal drivers that mess everything else up for me.
"Updated" tested newest drivers from Daniel K. no changesstacman70 :?Maybe try going into : Control Panel>Sound?See if you can locate "input 3" there, first check in the "Recording" tab. Set Default if you find it.
