Speaker Calibrator with Latest Vista Driver (1/1

My original Vista driver for my Audigy 2 ZS timed out over the weekend, so I downloaded and installed the new one. Unfortunately, now I only get sound out of one speaker (the front-left one) on my 7. speaker setup. And every time I try to run the speaker calibrator to fix this, I receive the following error message:?Error obtaining Calibrator Interface!? Please install and register CTSCAL.DLL. I haven't been able to find any information related to this error message on Google or in the Creative knowledge base. Does anyone else know what's going on or how to fix it's? I'd really like to be able to hear at least STEREO sound again, and preferably 7.!
Thanks,?--Matthew

I don't think any of the cd's software works with the newer drivers. I think all that works right now is the driver, the new MediaSource Player, and the new cd update for MediaSource. Try uninstalling everything and then just install the driver package and the new MediaSource Player and the cd update for it. You'll get AudioConsole. Unfortunately you'll also find that DVD Dolby Decoding has been removed, as well as the EAX stuff with the exception of the environments for old games that don't use EAX. The MediaSource Player will also only rip and encode to burn in Wave or Windows Media Formats unless you purchase a Creative AudioCodec plugin. A user here who probably had the cd stuff installed found that the new player does do mp3 encoding for free if the older software is on the system. Since that stuff doesn't work on Vista I decided not to install it, or all its stupid background processes that can't be turned off since the software won't open. (Well, we can delete the items from the registry run key I suppose.)?Make sure that when you uninstall the driver in Device Manager you check the box that tells it to remove all related files and software. I would reboot, remove the Multimedia Audio Device that will be in Device Manager after Vista fails to find a driver when it automatically tries. Then restart again and let it fail to install the driver. (Let it automatically try then fail.)? Then install the latest download. Some have had the installer not recognize a Creative SoundBlaster Hardware (a noted problem historically with Creative installers). I think resetting the Device Manager as I suggested might jog the registry so that the Creative installer will work. Cross your fingers. If not, extract the download and run the DriverSetup.exe from the Driver folder, restart twice, then run the Setup (the original download) again. It will then probably uninstall the driver, restart the computer, install the new driver and then AudioConsole. Don't restart right away when that is finished. Let Windows boot up, then restart the computer. Things should work fine after that. I'm using the new driver on a fresh Vista Business install and it sounds great. I need to adjust bass and treble from the Windows controls or the WMP EQ though, as the AdvancedEQ is not there. So, you set up your speaker configuration from Creative AudioConsole, and the rest from the Windows Mixer and playback and recording devices Windows control. Don't run the Windows speaker setup. It just messes things up (don't even open the button). You should get 5. (or whatever you have).

I've tried reinstalling xorg-server, libdrm nvidia, nvidia-utils and so on, but nothing helps.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I had the same problem My solution was ... After reinstalling every thing 3 times with no good results I decided to try one more time on a 64 bit version of it and it worked perfectly so I decided to try  different distributions with 386 486 and 686 all the same problem.. it seems only the 64 bit distributions work well with the newest Nvidia cards.... Can't find a reason and Nvidia has not answer me yet....
Sorry but if you want your card working on Linux you will need to upgrade to 64 bit it seems.
also there is no Wine HQ for 64 bit under Arch other distros have  but if you want it under Arch you will have to build it your self.
OK if some else knows better Please Please Let me Know the secret ...  I tried 10 distros and 60 installations later I had these results, maybe I'm doing it all wrong.
    PS:
I do a lot of beta testings Just for fun. Testing Jaunty and Windows 7 at this time and 7 is pretty but it stills Sucks Majorly Just as much as Vista does.
Jaunty Has no drivers for Nvidia and is no way to Install it manually with the idiot user proof thing that they got I'll be going back to Arch today and give it a rest to my frustrations For a While....

  • Any need for inactive memory with latest SSD drives?

I have an iMac with a combo drive with 24 gb of RAM. At times my inactive memory exceeds 10 gb and my available memory goes to zero. And Mavericks is slow to give the memory back.  Given the efficiency and speed of the latest SSD drives, does earmaking memory to an inactive state serve any useful purpose when using a SSD drive?.

I believe there is, as RAM speed is still much better than SSD speed. Most inactive RAM queries stem from the fact that "inactive RAM" is a misnomer. For a pretty full explanation, have a look at my second-last reply at the bottom of page 3 of this discussion:

  • HDMI sound disapears with latest nVidia driver

Hey! I'm on a dv9266ea and when using Windows Update and installing the latest nVidia Driver (released in December, 2008, driverid=20233116) I no longer get any sound on the TV through the HDMI-cable when I'm watching movies, showing presentations or whatever. And yes, I do change to hd-audio. ^^
Only way to get it to work is to downgrade to the really old 7.15.10.9815 driver from February 27, 2007 and I really think I could get so much more out of my computer if there were a way to be able to use the latest driver without loosing the sound when running though HDMI-cable on the TV.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Nope, it still don't work. Graphics got better than ever and I could run games better again but as soon as I plugged in the HDMI-cable, changed sound to SPDIF and started the TV it became the same as after December 2008 nVidia-driver: No sound what so ever.
It's especially annoying since this laptop has been really faulty all the way from the start. Been sent to repairs 2 times already and gotten new motherboards. Last time they had it for reparis they 'killed' all Quick Launch buttons and refused to take it back for a 3rd repai, claiming it were me and not them (even though I called the same day I got it back) who broken it and they just said warranty were out.
Anyways, I've tried the Dec 2008 graphics-driver as well as the April 2009 one provided in the reply above and they don't work. Everything get's better but sound output when in using HDMI disapears and only seem to work with the really outdated February 2007 driver.
I also tried updating the sound with the Conexant HD Audio Driver from May 2008 as provided above too, but that didn't work either.
There gotta be other who has the same problem. I just re-set the laptop to original state the other week so it's almost completely HP's own settings. It seems wrong I have to choose from either be able to use the laptop only for work with presentations and movies OR for private use such as games...

  • Problems with the Vista Driver for Audigy 2

    Hello erverybody,
today I installed Vista Ultimate 32bit. With the result that the applications and drivers of my Creative CD don't work. I downloaded the new Vista Driver for my Audigy 2 ZS but I must find out that there are no DTS, EAX and also no CMSS 3D Support integrated is.
I could only choose the option CMSS in the audio console but no CMSS 3D as i have it under windows xp.
My question to Creative, is it planed that these features will be supported with vista in the future or can i take my soundcard to the garbage ?

There is some kind of unofficial driver version located here: I'm currently downloading it and I'll?try. Part http://files.filefront.com/SBAXWXCD+R2partrar/;8604885;/Part2: http://files.filefront.com/SBAXWXCD+R2part2rar/;8606942;/?Since there seems no official way of using my hardware's?DTS and Dolby Digital decoding function on Vista and this is common for all Audigy. I have Audigy 2 ZS plat. , I love?this card It sounds best in the world but Creative has failed to satisfy its customers on Windows Vista. A company has to make its customers feel special, I don't think I'm going to buy another Creative product?if this issue is not resolved.

  • Can't Update Medaisource to 5.10.38 (using latest Vista Drive

I am using the latest driver for the XFI Xtrrememusic which shipped with my Dell. I had no problem updating and all functions seem fine. I am using Vista Ultimate. I recently upgraded to the latest driver, and things are perfect. However, i am trying toi upgrade Mediasource from 5.0.3 which shipped to 5.0.38 which is the latest oin the website. I keep getting the wrror Setup has not found a supported product and then the install exits. Without Admin mode it sits there searching for devices. I read the solution article 33900 wich said to reinstall the dri've,r but I just did upgrade the driver. Anyone else having this issue or can anyone elase help? I am just trying to update this app. Thanks!?Mike

Sorry to hear of your woes too. So, do you even get to the point where an error message box appears that  states ... isn't eligible for requested rebuild...", or some other wording,  (with a "more info" tab that takes you to an apple.com  help screen)

  • Unable to print envelopes with latest HP driver for LaserJet 4

In April I downloaded the latest HP drivers for my HP LaserJet 4 to reinstall following work on my computer.
First I was just unable to print envelopes.
I redownloaded and had same results
I have uninstalled and re-installed a number of times.
I tried a "chat" with HP that went nowhere.
I was on hold for over an hour last night -- only to be told that I should email a request for assistance. Fat Chance! Try it!
I still have the manual from when it was new. It had no answer except a Customer Service phone number which has long been shut down.
The present condition is that I am unable to print anything.
Customer Service is a sick myth.

Hello, DP Photo, sounds like a scanning issue with the software. To start I want you to completely remove the software and then reinstall the programming from the packages available on the website I am going to link you to below. Use the full-feature software if available.

  • Problem with latest VGA driver

    Hi,
I wonder if any of you smart people out there can help.
After installing newer driver than version 31.00 on my GF4 4400. (Doesn't matter which, as long as it's newer than V31.00) My PowerDVD software will not work.
When I tried to play DVD movie, a message pop up saying something like "Your TV-OUT port is not working properly. This copyright DVD will not play when your TV-OUT port is enabled"
    My question is:
    1. Why doesn't this happen with V31.00 but does with anything higher?
    2. I'm not even using the TV-OUT port. (Nothing is connected to it). How do I disable it?
Please help. Otherwise I'm stuck with driver version 31.00 and can't get any higher. (Version 44.03 seems to give higher 3DMARK 2002SE score)
    Thanks in advance.
    KS

    No one can help yet???
Nevermind. Have sorted it out by myself. All I had to do was download a patch for the PowerDVD programe. Everything is now fine and I can use version 44.03 of the Nvidia driver. (In my case, I've installed the MSI version)
3dMARK 2002SE score has jump up by almost 1000 points compared to version 31.00.
    Thanks.

  • No audio in Win 7 K9N4 SLI (MS-7325) with latest Realtek driver

I am running an K9N4 SLI (MS-7325) motherboard and cannot get sound to play in Windows 7 or Ubuntu 11.10. In Win 7, my driver is: 6.0.1.6305
Windows says there are no conflicts and everything is fine but I don't hear anything out of my headphone. Any ideas or direction? Thanks!

Thanks for the replies... I have not tried reverting to an older driver since the only drivers available on the official website are only for Windows 2000 and older. According to the current driver, I have it in the Line Out jack on the back... I do not have any jacks in the front for line out audio.

  • Speaker Calibration Wizard not working at a

    Hi all,
I've just recently purchased a second-hand Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. I've downloaded the Audigy 2 ZS Series driver disc (courtesy of a poster on this forum) and installed all fo the software from there. I have also updated the main windows driver, to the latest version availiable from the Creative site.
Everything is hunky-dory thus far, however i have found one issue with the software. Whenever i try to start the "Calibrate Speakers" wizard in the "Speaker Settings" page, nothign happens. There is a brief flicker of activity form the HDD, and then it stops? I've tried reinstalling the "Speaker Calibration" software from the driver disk, but that hasnt solved anything.
As always, any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

  • XFi Xtreme Music Audio is crackly when running Camfrog (Vista drive

My?Winamp and someitmes WMP audio is crackly when I run Camfrog (webchat software). It's fine when I don't run Camfrog. I've checked my settings, system resources, drivers, nothing's helped. I'm running verion 5.33. My other system specs are:
Dell Dual Core 2.8 GHz CPU
    2 Gb RAM
Sound Blaster XFi Etxreme Music (with latest Vista drivers)
Windows Vista Home Premium (fully updated)
Could this be because Winamp is not fully Vista compatible? Is it a problem with the XFi Vista Driver? Any help would be appreciated, and thanks. XTrail

I have the same Problem under Vista64, under Vista32 i didn't have the cracking sound at all.
Somewhere in this Forum there is a Thread, who says it has to do with the 4Gig Ram other Thread says it has to do with the driver them self.
I just found a workaround to avoid the cracking in going to the Hardware Manager inside Vista and disable the sound card, then enable it again and change the Sound Quality setting in your Playback device to 24bit or 6bit, a change is necessary then hit the Test button if it crack start from the beginning again till it doesn't crack anymore.
I know this solution is really a bad one but it works. Most of the time x disable and enabling will solve it but sometimes i have to do it twice.
If anyone has a better solution or workaround pls post it!
    thx

  • Driver problems with Windows Vista 64

Hello, I recently upgraded to Vista 64bit. I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy model# SB0090.
Whenever I try and install the drivers, it says:
"Set is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this Setup. Setup will exit."
I've been reading through the forums, and haven't seen anything useful. I tried downloading the 3rd party software by kX that I saw someone recommend, but it didn't work either. It said it installed the drivers, but that there was a conflict. Still says "No Audio Output Device is installed" in the bottom tray.
Someone help me, I want to have sound on my PC with vista

Well, after looking around the forum here I found an answer that works! I wish I could remember who to give credit too though. I installed the latest Vista drivers and I got static all the time. I tried another members suggestion of disabling the X-Fi device in the Device manager every time I log off and then enable the X-Fi the next time I log in. I have great sound as long as I do that. Also, for connecting to a home system I am using the DTS-60, $00 on this website, but it works well if you havea DTS decoder. I am using the X-Fi extreme Music edition. Good Luck, hopefully another driver is on the way.
