Speaker failure

my right speaker no longer works. before i bring it in and lose it for a few days, any fixes I can do myself? (system prefs shows sound output balance right in the middle so that isn't the issue)

1. Start iTunes and select any song.
2. Go to System Preferences and click on sound.
3. Click on Output
4. Move the balance to the left and check if you hear audio or if the speaker sounds damaged.
5. Repeat for the right speaker.

Droid 4 ear speaker failure

I am on my third Droid 4 in three weeks. Every phone has done the exact same thing. Out of the box the ear speaker is perfect. Then after a few days, the speaker starts to rattle and sound raspy. After that the volume starts to gradually go down to where you can barely hear the call. I thought that I probably got a bad phone the first time. The second time, I figured it was a fluke. I have handled the third phone with kid gloves and done everything short of carrying it in a foam lined bullet proof brief case and the same thing has happened. The phones came from three different locations, so I don't think it is a batch problem. Any suggestions? Other than going for the foam lined bullet proof brief case. I really don't want to have to go for a new phone every week. Other than that I love the phone. Thanks

After four Droid 4's with bad speakers, I convinced Verizon to let me trade it for a Razr. I didn't really want to give up the slider keyboard, but I couldn't see having to get a new phone every week. So I got the "factory certified" Razr yesterday. The good news is that I have talked on the phone for over an hour and the speaker is still crystal clear. Unfortunately, the phone has never once picked up a 4G signal and has no data connection about half of the time. All of the Droid 4's had no problem picking up the 4G signal in the same places. So I spent another 1-2 hours on the phone with tech support and they couldn't figure it out so they are sending another phone. This will be SIX phones in less than a month. I asked if they would please send a NEW phone and the girl assured me that the phones were all in perfect condition and some may have been traded in for different models within the 14 day trial period. I suggested that someone may have traded this Razr in because the data wouldn't work. I just want a phone that works! I may see if I can find my old bag phone and have it reactivated. On the bright side, I can program a new phone with my eyes closed now.

Beats solo right speaker failure

I purchased two Beats Solo from an authorized retailer for Christmas 2014 for my teenagers. The right side speaker in the headphones stopped playing any sound in April 2015. We tried all the suggested fixes such as plugging into a different device, making sure the cables are plugged in correctly, balance config., buying a replacement cable and none of them work. 3 weeks later, the second pair developed the same problem with the right speaker. Is this a flaw with this product? At this price I would have expected them to be problem free for more than 4-5 months. I am very disappointed. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or if this is to be expected. Thanks.

Apple does not provide service support for the headsets since they are not Apple-branded.
Best advice is to contact the manufacturer for service support.

Random speaker failure

My speaker dies unexpectedly now and then... this happens whether I'm using the built-in speakers or headphones/speakers via the audio jack. I have to change the volume or stop my itunes and press play again for it to come back. Anyone else have this problem or is this unique to me? Any solutions?

The bug is not random on a LG KU990, that means that each time you tried a connection the phone is sending a failed connection message.
I'm obliged , like with my iMac, to suppress the D200 , research it again an accept a new connection : very boaring !
Regarding this above point, I've never test hours of streaming on this phone, to explore this moisy modulation.

I'm very disappointed, because I've send records of the sound perturbation to your staff and they've never answer , which is abnormal !
Moreover, this modulation appeared on the first D200 after 10 days.....and 3 days on the second!
If it would be the Mac or the environment why this difference ?
This point let's to suspect an random electronic pb in the D200 bluetooth receiver part
it's quite silly to make a so good sound speaker to failed on support like that !

IPhone Ear Speaker Failure

After but one week, my iPhone ear speaker quit working. People could hear me talk, but I couldn't hear them through the earpiece. But if I switched to "speaker" mode, I could hear them. Weird. Local dealer simply gave me a new iPhone. But I'm wondering: Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm having the same problem. Did the recommendation of plugging in the earphones in/out about 8 times resolve the problem?

Treo800w: Wifi + Speaker = Suck (with wifi hint that should go in the sticky)

Hi all! Posting my first problem on these boards I've been through two Treo 800w's (I actually LOST one almost as soon as I got it, argh). Both 800w's had this speaker problem, although I didn't put all the pieces together until last week (I had been operating under the theory that the original Treo was suffering from intermittant speaker failure, possibly due to a cold solder joint- took some time to see that both units had the same problem, and only when wifi was on.)
When wifi is on (connected, unconnected, doesn't matter- but it's worse if wifi usage is heavy)- the speaker output sucks rocks. Speakerphone? Can't understand the speaker. Ring tones/notifications/etc? Crackly, awful. Ask it to play music or video? It really sounds like the speaker is being physically damaged now, the distortion is so crackingly severe.
Turn the wifi off? The external speaker is sweet as pie. [Edit: That's overstatement. The external speaker still sucks compared to the one on my old free VX8300, but it's MUCH better than it is with the wifi turned on.] Connect the USB earphones that come with the 800w? Sounds beautiful, no distortion whatsoever, and it doesn't matter if wifi is on or off in this case.
In summation: the wifi card being on totally screws up the external speaker, and even if you have the volume set to minimum where you can't hear it, it sounds like that poor speaker is dying if it's asked to play any sounds. Does anyone have a fix? (I bet it's a hardware problem and there IS no fix )
Edit: I just played with this a little. I turned the WiFi off and put a movie on the Media Player. It sounds OK-ish. With USB headphones, it sounds fantastic. Turn wifi on, and USB headphones sound fantastic (unchanged). Remove the headphones and go to the external speaker, the sound is extremely loud cracks and pops that are much louder than the sound generated by the movie. (MUCH louder...to the point that you can't hear the dialogue and worry that the speaker is being damaged.)
Edit edit: Interestingly, if you turn the phone off or on while sound is being played, you hear similar audio artifacts. They only persist while the phone is going on or off- and do not linger after the transition, unlike the wifi hardware, which generates louder artifacts the whole time it's powered on.
Also, one hint that's not in the stickied FAQ (for users in urban areas, mostly): If you can't get your wifi to connect and everything is set right on both ends: The antenna in your treo sucks. That's the price you pay for it being invisibly small. It's a good tradeoff. Change the channel on your wifi access point to be as far away as possible from any other access point within reception range (If you have to pick, get as far away as you can from the loudest one). What I mean here is that you should get a laptop or a PC with wifi hardware, put it where you want your Treo to work, and find out what channel your wifi WAP is on, and what channel the WAP with the most signal strength is on. Set the channel of your wifi WAP to be as far away from the competition as possible. Channel 1 and channel 11 are common factory presets for 802.11b and 802.11g WAP's. I spent about three hours today trying to get my Treo to connnect to an AP it had been working fine with the day before... and as soon as I changed the channel to get away from an AP that was so soft the Treo didn't even list it (though my PC listed it at -45 dbm), it started working great. (To clarify, my wifi broke because someone put up a WAP that was far enough away that my Treo didn't even see it, on the same channel as my WAP.... and no amount of fiddling could fix it. However, changing my WAP's channel fixed it immediately.)

Sorry to hear about your trouble with the 800w. The issue with Wi-Fi causing issues with the speaker has been reported and has been escal to the proper department to attempt to address it.

Not very promising that the left speaker dies only two days in. Has anyone else experienced any speaker failures?
The rep on the chat said they will take it for repairs, still awaiting some email from them that im suppsed to get.

Losing emails from In-box on the 9000 Bold

I am having annoying problems with the 9000 Bold with emails received in the In-box. Once emails are received and read they remain were they should put only for a couple of hours.
I go back to the In-box to read new and find the previous email(s) have disappeared completely. I use O2 UK internet service to push the emails to the handset. I have asked my IT consultant to resolve this problem were after several days of investigation and spending time on the work bench he recommended I change the handset for new which was done today. This is my third handset in as many months. I reconfigured the handset to all settings and asked the handset to keep messages for 3 months in the general options menu. I was extremely disappointed that the problem has not been resolved. The first handset I had some 10 months ago never did this, I had to this exchanged due to the ear speaker failure.
Can any help before I have nervous breakdown.

If the mail in question is on iCloud or on another server accessed by IMAP, that is expected behavior. The server is the master location for the mail, and the devices (including the Mac) just show and control what is on the server. (The devices may also maintain locally cached copies of messages for use when offline.)
If the mail in question is on a server that supports both IMAP and POP access, the iPhone may be accessing it by POP and the Mac and iPad by IMAP.

Elitebook 2540p: Faint sound and static coming from speakers...Need Help!

I am having issues with my new 2540P. I can hear faint sound and static coming from my speakers as well as my headphones when I plug into the jack. I first started having this issue when I plugged additional speakers into the jack and USB while talking on Skype..
I am running Win7. I tried troubleshooting drivers and hardware, disabling and enabling, and a system restore going back one day...but no luck. When I disable the speakers, I stopped hearing even the faint sound. I also tried plugging and unplugging the jack 20 times.
Is it possible that this is a hardware failure (jack and/or sound card)?
Does anyone have other suggestions?

Muffled and static speakers (oreo issue!)

I recently got an iphone 4s and all worked fine... unfortunatley in a very long story my iphone ended up with the cremey oreo centre a little msuhed into and im guessing through the mesh of the bottom speakers! They are now muffled and im not sure whats wrong. I am guessing the oreo is in the speakers and messing up the virbrations but i dont know how to fix it? I was wondering is there a way to open it up to remove an oreo to sort it out?

Satelite a305-S6872 Sound is completely out

Hi all, I have a frustrating sound issue. As the subject line suggests, the sound on my laptop (running Vista 32) is completely out. It worked yesterday and there were no issues when I shut the computer down, nothing to suggest a speaker failure. I did not download or install anything during that time that would stop the speakers from working either. The sound plain doesn't work, even when I plug in headphones, there is no sound. The speakers are not muted, the Realtek devices say they are working properly. I tried to test the speakers and I get an error pop up that says "Error! Failed to play test tone." I have tried reinstalling the sound drivers and that did not fix the problem either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Gabe

Selectively lost sound apple tv

First Generation AppleTV has been working fine for several years. Suddenly no sound. Obvious first suspect is bad or loose cable. When I power off and power on Apple TV, as it boots up, I can hear the welcome sound through the speakers, same as always. This proves no cable, amplifier or speaker failure. Its as if a mute button has been pressed, but I cannot find any mute button or volume control. No sound for movies, TV, music or YouTube. Any help appreciated!

It's a while since I've used volume control on the Apple TV, but you do have volume control for music. I seem to remember it reset itself when going back to play a movie, but I suppose it's worth a try.
Start playing some music and then press the [+] button on the remote. If the problem persists you might want to try a factory restore.
