Speaker hook up question

Hi,
I recently bought an HP Roar Bluetooth speaker for my HP 17 laptop. The idea was to have the laptop speakers (Beats) and the Roar playing at the same time. Hey, there's some nice audio!
Anyway, when the Roar is active, the Beats audio wont play. When the Roar isn't active, the Beats does play. So... Is there a way to set things up so that both sets of speakers play simultaneously? I'd really like to get some stereo effects and a deeper audio experience. I should add that this happens both when the Roar is acting as a Bouetooth wireless speaker and when its hooked up via a USB cable
Many thanks,
Bob

Don't use technology with your TV that's too advanced.  This may sound silly but the problem with the newer 7.1 surround sound systems is most things you watch or use it for, won't use all the speakers.  For example, normal TV shows usually only utilize the center speaker.  Some TV movies (usually must be an HD channel, like HBO HD) will broadcast in left and right speakers or in 5.1 surround sound.  Most DVDs will broadcast in 5.1, but not many have made the step up to the 7.1 (neither have the TV channels).  Just make sure and do your research.  A lot of people aren't aware too, that just because something is broadcasting in  5.1, all the speakers still may not be utilized.  Each speaker has its own function - 1 for music, 1 for background music, 1 for voices, etc.  I would recommended a 5.1 surround sound set.
Nothing I post is an official statment of Best Buy or Geek Squad, it is only a helpful opinion!

  • Klipsch F3 speaker

I just bought  klipsch F3 speakers from bestbuy and was wondering what would be the best way to hook it up to my yamaha receiver. I have a yamaha HTR-6130 receiver that I hooked the klipsch F3 speakers up to as you normally would with any speaker. I have 12 gauge speaker wire connecting the speaker. I was reading that I would get better sound from the speaker if I hooked it up by biwiring the speaker. The performance of the speaker hooking it up normally just does not seem like it is giving its optimal performance. Any ideas or suggests on how to exactly hook the speakers up by biwiring them with normal 12 gauge speaker wire would be a great help.

There are two gold pieces connecting the tweeter and the woofer. Remove the two pieces.
You will need two wire extensions for positive and negative speaker connections. There are multiple ways to achieve this. The easiest involves one wire lead screwed underneath the binding post, and the other wire is connected using banana plugs. You may need to use another method depending on what type of speaker wire connection your receiver has.

  • Question about MacMini 1.66, 512 Ram?

    Hello,
Need some input please. I currently use a PC for school, but lately, most of my classes require special charts. I have found several programs ranging from $179 - $456; this is just too much to pay. My thinking is- I could purchase a Mac Mini for the price of the software. Looking under productivity tools on Apple’s website, I found a few free programs that will enable me to create Gantt Charts. I am just simply amazed on the amount of programs that are available to Mac users. Apple appears to be college student friendly. To purchase such programs for Windows would cause me to go bankrupt, figuratively speaking. My question to you would be; will a Mac Mini 1.66, 512 ram be sufficient to run such programs? I will not run windows on the mini, just Mac software. Thanks for any input.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Whether that amount of memory would be sufficient depends on whether to software you are going to use is Intel-native or not. That is a factor you need to check when you look at the various packages available - if they show they are 'universal' or written for Intel macs, then 512 will generally give you acceptably good performance. If they are not universal or intel-native, meaning they are written to run on the previous PPC-based Mac systems, the software will still run on a new mini, but will require Rosetta, an on-the-fly translator, in order to work. Rosetta is included in the system so there's nothing additional to buy, but because it needs a lot of memory of it's own, it'll tend to make the system run very poorly.
If you don't know whether the software is PPC only, Intel-native or Universal (the latter two meaning it runs without requiring Rosetta) then a system with 1Gb of RAM or more would be better. As ever, more RAM is always better than less!

  • XW 4600 Workstation sound mapped through internal speaker?

    Windows XP Professional SP3
This computer is only bout 2 months old, and has had this problem from the beginning:
The sound... that is, the BIOS/POST beeps as well as system sounds, music... *ALL* sound... plays through the internal speaker.
I plugged a set of external speakers into the green jack on the rear, but there was no sound from them at all no matter what settings I tried in eith the windows mixer, or the hp-provided realtek audio manager.  I even disabled the'system speaker' in windows hardware manager.
I re-installed both the soundcard driver and the realtek audio manager, and that solved the problem... sound from the external speakers, and only the BIOS/POST beep from the internal speaker.
But about once a week, powering up the computer in the morning will revert to all sound coming only from the internal speaker.
And, re-installing the driver and the realtek audio manager solves the problem.
Keep in mind - no further settings or adjustments need to be made, simply re-installing the driver and audio manger is all it takes.
This week, I went to the HP live support site and described this problem.
Their solution was to have the motherboard replaced.
After the onsite tech completed the replacement, there is now sound out of BOTH the internal speaker as well as the external speakers.
He did not know how to fix this, and couldnt find any software settings that should cause this.
Today, hp live support instructed me to unplug the system speaker from the motherboard... which, of course, stopped the sound from coming out of that speaker.
My question is this:  Why would the sound be mapped through this speaker in the first place, and is there some obscure setting somewhere that needs to be disabled?
    Thank you.

So a week ago, HP live support told me that this issue has been closed, and then told me that they are still looking for a solution to my problem.
Ummm... Which is it?  If it's closed, then how are they still working on it?
I currently have NO sound from the speaker jack, and no sound (obviously) from the system speaker.
Does anyone else know how to resolve this issue?

  • Dumb Question, Seriously!

Hi, I must warn you in advance that the following is a really dumb question, seriously!
Now I didn't order the version of Final Cut Pro that I have now, but a family member did for me. A colleague was telling me that the Final Cut Pro HD version comes bundled with Soundtrack Pro, Motion, and etc. I do infact have all of those programs on my mac as we speak. My question is this colleague of mind correct?
I was going to order the famed Lisa Brenneis guide to Final Cut, and there different versions of the book ranging from Final Cut Pro 3 and beyond.
    Any assistance is gladly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum!
Final Cut Pro was originally sold as a separate software title. With the introduction of FCP 4, Apple bundled LiveType, SoundTrack and Compressor. Also available was the "Production Suite" which included FCP (with the same bundled apps), DVD-SP and Motion 1.
Early last year Apple discontinued the availability of FCP and the other pro-apps as separate titles and bundled them all in a package called "Final Cut Studio" (includes FCP 5.0, DVD-SP 4, Compressor 2, LiveType, SoundTrack Pro and Motion 2).
FWIW, the only version of FCP to be officially called "Final Cut Pro HD" was version 4.5 (a free update from FCP 4.0). All other versions are just plain ole "Final Cut Pro."

  • Mbp 3,1 right speaker blew out, not waking up

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro 3,1 running OS X 10.8.5 (12F45).  A couple weeks ago, I heard the right speaker pop, and stop working.
Since the speaker went out, my machine won't wake up after I close it.  It seems to heat up and the fans run constantly even after I've closed it.  When I open it up again, I don't get a password prompt or anything--the fans just keep spinning, and eventually I just have to hold in the power button to shut it off, then restart.
I've also noticed that the battery now runs out of juice really quickly--perhaps 20 minutes after a full charge.  The Battery Health program doesn't indicate anything unusual:
I've had the machine for about 20 months.  I've replaced the original battery with a cheap version off Amazon, and replaced the right internal fan about two months ago.  I've looked up how to replace the speaker assembly and I'm getting the tools and parts to do that.
I know I have to replace the speaker.  My question is: what's causing all this?  Is it the speaker going out that led to these other issues, or is there another issue that cause the speaker to go out and is the root of the problem?  I've zapped the PRAM and reset the SMC, but that didn't change anything.
Thanks in advance for any response!  Let me know if more info is needed.

You have one of the MBP with the NVIDIA defect unforunately (GeForce 8600M GT).
The scrabled screens are the GPU overheating and failing.
Apple had a repair program that has now ended.

You can still try making a genius bar apointment and asking about a flat rate repair or take it to an authorized Apple service provider.

  • Subtitling and Audio

Two part question here. I am on a g4 with Final Cut 3. I have a jvc deck hooked up through firewire to import. I have been importing hours of footage in korean that I didn't have to listed to because I don't know what they at talking about anyway.
    Here are the questions
    1) Anyone know of a quick way to do subtitles besides generating the titles, are there any third party plug ins that you recommend.
    2) Now I am importing other interviews in English and I do not hear the audio while I do the capture. It doesn't matter what kind of capture. I do see the audio bars go up and when I stop the capture and play it back the audio is there. I know there is something stupid I am missing, a flag somewhere that lets the audio play during capture, can someone point me in the right direction.
    Thanks

    1. If you have DVD Studio Pro, you can do subtitles from that. You'll have to either tape from the dvd after you finish or extract using an extraction program. There might be a better one. Do a google search, but to really do them right subtitling companies do the most professional job.
    2. Are you sure that you've got the audio cables hooked up right? When working with a camera or deck attached, you need to have a speaker hooked up to the camera or deck you are capturing from.

Here are the specs for your HP G5305be Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model has a PCIe x16 expansion slot for graphics cards and a 300 watt power supply. You will need to replace the power supply with a 500 or 600 watt unit to run the  MSI GTX650 Ti BOOST TWIN FROZR III card. The Corsair CX500 or CX600 come highly recommended and are known to fit most HP consumer computer cases.

  • [JS CS4 CS5] Setting preferences for hyperlink properties

This is not, strictly speaking, a scripting question, but it's possible that scripting may be the only way to get this accomplished.
I want all new hyperlinks created by InDesign and InCopy users to have a certain set of properties, namely:
    var DEFAULT_HYPERLINK_PROPERTIES = {
            borderColor: [183, 27, 23],  // Burgundy, roughly.
            borderStyle: HyperlinkAppearanceStyle.DASHED,
            width: HyperlinkAppearanceWidth.THIN,
            visible: true,
I can't seem to find any preference that I can set that will allow me to do this. I have to do it manually, or by periodically setting the properties document- or application-wide with everyItem(). But that's not good enough. I need it to be the default.
Hyperlinks used to show up automatically as black rectangles for us, and now they show up invisible. So because I have personally witnessed some change in the default behavior, I feel sure there must be a preference I can set somewhere. But it's possible that was just the switchover from standard behavior in CS4 to standard behavior in CS5.
    Any ideas?
