Speaker jack only plays right channel

Hi everybody,
since a few days when i plug my speakers or earplugs into the speakers-jack, only the right channel has been playing. I already checked "balance" in the system preferences - it is centered.
Can someone help me with this?
Thanks.

Hey thanks for replying so quickly. Could have been the solution (jack in/out too often). Though my problem was solved in a different way a minute ago:
After plugging in my earplugs again i just realised, the balance-settings automatically change depending on which output you use. So some days ago I must have been dragging the balance-fader to the right and unplugging the speakers then the system auto-saved.
So you always have to check "System Preferences / Audio" with the plug inside the jack.

  • Head Phone Jack only playing right ear

When ever I plug in my headphones it only plays the right bud. I know its not the sound pref. because I checked it and was on headphone (so it did recognized it) and the sound is selected to play on both left and right channels, but when i put them on only the right works. i did mess with the plug but nothing. I did try pushing it with a little force and did get a second of sound but never again? any help?

Sounds like the jack is bad and may need to be replaced.

  • A520 Speaker is only playing sound on the subwoofer and 2 other speakers

My A520 Speaker is only playing sound on the subwoofer and 2 other speakers i tried every thing I could, but cant seem to find the problem (win 8.1)

I checked on Creative's support site and search for A520 and this is what I found http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowA...aspx?sid=64705
I think because your source is stereo that's why you are only hearing sound from 2 speakers and the subwoofer. You will need to enable virtual surround in your sound card to be able to get all the speakers playing I think.
You can do a speaker test by going to sound, playback devices and click on configure to test the channels in Windows.

  • Audio out jack only plays sound in the right speaker.

Whenever I plug anything (speakers, earphones, etc.) into the Audio Output jack, it only plays sound through the right speaker/earphone. The left speaker/earphone hardly has any sound at all.
How should I go about fixing this problem?
It ***** and it's annoying. At first, I thought it was just my earphones but they work perfectly fine with my iPod and other devices.

    HI Chris,
my daughter has the ipod touch 4th generation and it started only having sound come out of the right speakers in both of my vehicles.  I read also it could be a broken socket causing it.  Do you know about this?  How does one break a socket and how would I repair that?  The person on y*hoo answers said to either send it to apple refurbished unit or replace it.  Replace it?  Really?  It's a 64 GB ipod touch that I won at work with reward points which is the only reason I could afford it.  Looking for better solution like your's above but I'm worried I will have to send it in.  I was looking on my iphone 4 and noticed the volume balance was under Settings>General>Accessibility so I guess it's different on an ipod touch?

  • Zen Only Plays Laeft Channel Through Car Ste

i got a new car stereo a couple of days ago with an AUX jack on the front. When I tried my Zem Visiuon M through this jack, i only get the left channel. I've tried using the headphone jack and the audio output jack on the dongle with same results. CDs and radio play stereo, so it's not a problem with the speakers. My headphones play both channels. When hooked up to my home stereo, again, both channels play. Any ideas as to what I'm doin wrong?

First thing. Make sure the cable you are using is a stereo cable. See if the car stereo has an input balance. Are you getting the same sound from the right and left speakers, or just getting sound from one side?

  • PPRO is only playing solo channels - how do I get it back to playing both

I've been editing a project for about six weeks and had no problem importing audio and video.  Everything had been synched up ok and PPRO was behaving normally.
I've had two weeks off and have just imported more footage but the audio now doesn't play properly.  It will only play a mono track through one speaker/headphone if I select it as a solo channel.  If I play both channels together it goes silent.
I've installed PPRO 6.0.5, running Windows 8.1 on a custom built PC - 8gb ram, 256gb SSD.  I'm using a separate sound card, but on board graphics card.  The audio files are wav files.
I suspect I've unwittingly pressed a button I shouldn't have, as it has been working fine on the same project before.  I've gone through the other sequence tabs and the sound on those is now behaving in the same way (ie mono only if selected as solo channel).
I've checked the driver for my sound card, and my speakers and headphones are otherwise working fine.  The sound mixer is showing sound being "perceived" by the software, because the levels are bouncing appropriately.  The levels in both channels are bouncing also - it's not that only one channel is processing data.  It's just that I can't hear anything unless I select just one channel, and then it comes through mono in one speaker/headphone.
As and experiment I've also started a new project and just put some bars and tone in it, but alas it is doing exactly the same thing.
    All help gratefull received!

Thanks for getting back to me Jim.
This is what the properties tab of the audio clip says:
    Type: Windows WAVE audio file
    File Size: 5.3 MB
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 24 bit - Mono
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono
    Total Duration: 00:00:38:14211
I had assumed the audio was two mono tracks.
I may not have explained myself perfectly.
I can hear the audio out of whichever solo channel I select, but not both channels at the same time (eg in my bars and tone experiment, I can switch between channels and here tone in either, but not both simultaneously).  My deduction from this is that the sound card, speakers and headphones are ok.  I've listened to music etc through my headphones and know also that stereo is working ok.
Previously I could hear both channels simultaneously.  Whilst I could carry on as it currently is, I would only be able to hear the audio out of one speaker/headphone.  Plus I also want to know what has changed since I started the project and it was working ok.
Could it be a problem with a codec?  Or an issue with upgrading to win 8.1? My sound card is a Creative Technologies Sound Blaster X-fi Xtreme Audio card.
    Thanks for you help

  • Stereo tunes only play one channel and Internet hangs after 4.21 Install

My daughter recently updated her 2nd Gen iTouch to 4.21 which I assume is an operating system.  On stereo tunes, now only one of the stereo sound channels plays (right side).  On older monaural songs, both right and left earphones produce sound.  Also, Internet hangs now after initial home page load.  How do I either roll back to an older version of the OS or get fixes for 4.21?

  • No sound from speakers on dv-6245us. headphones only play right side.

    Hello.
I have an HP Pavilion Dv6245us Laptop with Windows Vista 32-bit. I use this laptop mainly at work and it sits on my toolbox at work and I connect it to my Creative Home Theatre system via the 2 connections in the front. I switch between both the SPDIF and the headphones jacks from time to time.
Here is the issue: I noticed the other day that when my cable was plugged in the SPDIF connection, depending on how you moved the cord, you could hear audio only on the right side. When I unplugged the cable, i noticed my laptop speakers did not play any sound. I tried plugging into the other jack on the front and both jacks behave the same: any audio device plugged in will only play on the right side, no sound on the left, however when the cable is in the headphones jack, i can move it and i always hear sound, but when i move it around in the SPDIF jack, it cuts out when you move it. still no sound from the laptop speakers.
I thought it was a driver issue, so i updated the drivers and even reformated the entire computer. This did not work. I have read around and noticed that some people say a tab may be stuck in the jack and to try and plug something in and out of it rapidly and that should get it to recognize that nothing is plugged in, however that also did not work.
Just curious if there is anyway to shut off the spdif connection and maybe it would allow the speakers to work again, since that seems to be the jack with the issue, or if there is any other way of solving this issue.
    Thanks, Mike.

Anyone? Really cannot find any info on this problem..

  • Power Mac G5 Audio is outputting only the right channel

I have an audio problem with my PowerPc Audio card, I presume. It is only outputting the right channel. I have a set of computer speakers and when I go into System Preferences and move the balance slider, there is only sound coming from the right channel. Absolutely nothing from the left.
I found this problem when editing in FCP and needing to do a split track with VO on channel 1 and Nats and music on channel 2. I could see the meters showing the audio output from channel 1 but no sound coming through the Mac's left channel output.
Also, I have a DeckLink extreme card in my system and when I test the L-R channel output I get the same problem. I do not know if the decklink is somehow using the Mac audio card for help with its output. I would think that it is using its own hardware for generating the audio output from the card.
Hardware issue? Time for a Mac Genius repair? Don't know if there is any workarounds or fixes before I go that route. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Doug

No I didn't but I run my Mac's output into an analog mixer and then out to my speakers.
When outputting through channel 2 only, both speakers work, yet when I pan to channel 1 the sound drops out. As I pan from full channel 2, where both speakers are up full, you can hear the sound fade out.
Also, I got the Deck Link card to work through my mixer. The L and R channels are outputting through separate inputs in the mixer and work independently and correctly. I even changed out the mini stereo cable just in case and still no left channel out of the Mac.
Very weird! I've even repaired and defragged my system disk in case it is some sort of corrupted code. Just grasping at straws before I take it to a Mac Genius.
Thanks for writing. I appreciate any and all suggestions.
    Doug

  • IPad speaker only plays one channel

I have a 3rd gen. wifi iPad 16 gb and just updated to iOS 7. Listening to the Beatles (who often had some pretty extreme stereo mixes) over the iPad speaker, I realized pretty quickly it was missing an entire speaker channel. The Settings/General/Accessibility/Hearing setting is NOT set to mono, and moving the slider to the left causes all the sound to drop out, so the entire left speaker channel is muted. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

    Hello there Floydmulder,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
You went to the first place I would have by checking the Audio Accessibility options. Next, if you have not already, restart the iPad and try again.
    Restarting your iOS device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
After the device has turned off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
From: iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Then close all the running apps, restart it again, and test the issue.
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
And if the issue persists, I would backup and restore the phone with iTunes. First I would restore the phone as new, and test the issue. If it persists then that rules out software. If it works, then restore from your backup, and test again to see if there is something to do with the backup.
