Speaker not working only works with headphone dock

I bought iphone 4 in Apr , fisrt its started rebootong every 5 min so I got a replacement , now after a month of use its speaker stop giving output without earphone dock , can anyone help me wihth this problem or again I need to get it replaced , Its really frustrating & surprising with the such big brand like Apple, next time I will think twice to upgrade or buy apple product
pls help me to fix the speaker output issue

I know it sounds strange, but it's possible that your headphone jack is jammed.
There's a small sensor within the headphone jack that tells the iPhone that there are headphones plugged in. It's been a long-running issue with iPhones that sometimes it gets... uh... stuck.
When it gets stuck, the phone keeps thinking you have headphones plugged in, and keeps routing the sound there, instead of to the speakers.
The Apple Store recommendation is to plug your headphones in, and then remove them... do it a few times to make sure.
Give it a try... let me know how it turns out.
(If that doesn't work... off to the Apple Store!)

  • Smart connect not working with headphones

smart connect app has stopped working with headphones, have tried emptying data and also restored the phone to factory settings, but still nothing with any pair of headphones, I have installed the soundabout app and all headphones are working with that, so wondering if it is a software problem rather than the headphone jack that is the problem, any advice please?

You tried a factory reset - Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so backup what you need 1st - This is not the same as a factory reset but will achieve the same outcome
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

  • IPod 3rd gen not working with universal dock

My old iPod 3rd gen (15GB, touch wheel, dock connector) worked great with the old dock, until the latter started scratching noises when outputting audio to my stereo. Still charges the iPod though.
So, I tried old iPod with the universal dock I got for my Touch and found the following problems:
    1. iPod is not being charged through new dock plugged to wall adapter
    2. touch wheel menu control is not working as long as iPod sits in universal dock plugged to the wall adapter - the sound of clicks is all I get, but no control of menu or any other function. In order to select playlist or use any other function through touch wheel or any of 4 buttons I need to unplug power from the dock (it is not charging anyway)
    3. remote is not working at all
    Otherwise playback is OK.
Any ideas what may be the culprit here? Apple states that Universal dock is compatible with 3rd generation of iPod and up.

    Hello Andrew,
What a coincidence as I too have had to find a new dock for my 3rd gen ipod. This week I purchased an Apple AV Connection kit - but found that it would not charge the ipod or respond to the remote. I also bought and tried a Belkin AC adapter with cable to power up the ipod but it too would not charge the ipod.
To see if these units were working I connected them to a friend's brand new ipod classic and both the Belkin and Apple AV Connection Kit worked fine - so there is something different about the 3rd gen ipod.
I'm not sure if this helps you - but at least you know it's not just your ipod that is not working with the new dock.

  • Ipad2 Inbuilt speaker not working, but headphone is working

    I am using iPad2 32 GB, 3G + Wifi. updated with iOS 5.
It's in-built speaker is not working, but when I use headphone, sound it working on it.
    Please help.
I checked mute button and checked doubling clicking the home button and going all way to the left.
    Still not working..
    pLease help !!
    Thanking you in advance

You've double checked that you haven't got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.  Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If that isn't the case then have you tried a reset by pressing and holding both the sleep and home buttons for 10 to  p15 seconds until the Appe logo appears (it won't remove any content). Also when you use the volume switch does it show a heanhone symbol on the screen i.e. does it think than headphones are connected even when they aren't ?

  • Ipad will not work with headphones of any description

Hey, just bought myself a new iPad 32g WiFi. I'm really disappointed to discover I can't get any earphones to work with it at all - even my iPhone 4 and my old iPhone 3 Apple earphone will not work. I've tried a generic brand - they won't even fit properly. The speakers on the Ipad are not loud enough to listen to a movie or anything anywhere there's the least bit of background noise. What's the answer please? I've done an internet search where everyone says push them in harder - I cant push them in any harder without damaging them! Please help!

SOLUTION: Headphones don't work on iPad
I had the same problem: suddenly my headphones didn't work on my iPad. All the headphones (3 pairs) worked on my iPhone, so I knew the problem wasn’t with the headphones. The sound worked fine from the iPad speakers, so when I unplugged the headphones, the sound returned. I called AppleCare Support and tried everything they suggested, including restoring it to the factory settings. Nothing worked, and they authorized a replacement iPad.
The new iPad arrived, but it had the same problem, so I knew something had changed in the iPad's programming. I went online and found that many others were having the same problem, but no one offered a solution. However, someone mentioned that the problem first occurred after installing the latest OS (4.3.3), which is when my iPad’s problem occurred. Next, someone else wanted to know if there was a mute switch that needed to be turned off. This started me thinking...
To make a long story as short as possible, I played around with the controls on my old iPad and discovered the following: Apparently, the latest OS has added a safety feature to protect our eardrums (that’s nice, but it would be even nicer to have been notified of this change .. even the support technicians were unaware of it). Previously, when you listened to the audio through the iPad’s speakers, the sound was so low that you had to turn the volume up as high as possible to hear it. Then when you plugged in the headphones, the sound blasted your eardrums as you frantically lowered the volume.
    (PROBLEM:)
Now, however, WHEN YOU PLUG IN THE HEADPHONES, THE IPAD AUTOMATICALLY MUTES THE SOUND. When you unplug the headphones, the sound is automatically restored through the speakers, giving you the false impression that there is something wrong with the headphones or the headphone jack.
    (SOLUTION:)
So after plugging in the headphones, you have to use the volume button to bring the sound back up to the desired level. When you press the volume button, it will say “headphones” on the display to let you know that you are adjusting the sound for the headphones only. The speaker volume retains its previous setting (maximum volume).
So, the solution is quite simple… just turn up the volume after you attach the headphones.
    Cheers!

  • Auto-capitalization does not work with Keyboard Dock attached.

  • IPhone 4 not working with Sony docking station

    Hi guys,
My iPhone 4 is no longer working with my Sony SRS-GU10 docking station. It connects with the docking station and charges, but there is no sound.
I've tried to reset my iPhone, but that didn't work. I've turned off the bluetooth and that didn't help. I blew into the iPhone connector and the docking station and got it working for 10mins. It's just strange how it's just stopped working! Just wondering if it's knackered or can be fixed???
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jen

Try the solution in the post at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3228386?start=0&tstart=0, it worked for me.

  • Sony docking station speaker not working with iPod touch

We bought a Sony docking station for the iPod touch (4th generation) we got our son for his birthday.  The speaker on the docking station works when playing the radio, but not the iPod touch.  We returned the docking station for another, and we are having the same problem.  Which is why I am pretty sure the problem is the iPod touch and not the docking station.  The docking station actually will charge the iPod, just not project sound out of the speaker with the iPod.  It will, however, project sound out of the speaker when using the radio.
Is there anything simple I could be missing in settings?  I can't figure this out.  TIA!

  • IPhone does not work with IPOD Dock to select next song / pause - play

After using the iPhone at the gym, the IPhone quit working using the remote for the Docking station to navigate to next song nor pause / play. Suspect Iphone connector....
Also the iMuffs Headset bluetooth adapter that plugged into the iphone connector quit working. Tested iMuffs bluetooth connector on another iPhone and is still functioning.
any ideas?? clean connector?? short?? service??
Note, the iPhone still syncs with iMac via docking port (USB). So the connector is not totally bad.

i've just updated to windows 64 and noticed my 7. inspire TD7700 speakers arnt working!! only 2 are.... i have installed driver version 5.2.3.064 for my Audigy 2 ZS sound card but it didnt come with any EXA or speaker setup programs or aplication, so im having to configuar my speaker set up in wondows control panel but that doesnt seem to have any affect if i swap from 2. , 5. or 7. setup. is there any thing i can do to get all speakers working or will i just wait till the bring out programs that run in windows 64?

Try using the 64-bit ver. of 2.08.002 found here: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/sb%20audigy2.htm
Several people have reported that this is the 'st 64-bit Creative Driver that allows all speakers to work properly. Then use all the apps you want from both the CD & regular Creative website update pages.

  • IPod not working with headphones or input jack

I guess I'm probably effed, but I dropped my iPod mini today, and now it only works thru my computer. not thru headphones or input jacks. I imagine I damaged my input device.
    Any ideas?

Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/

  • Siri 'Raise to Speak' not working with iPhone 5S

Didn't work, did a restore, still doesn't work. The basic 'raise to face' function is working since my phone goes dark when I'm talking with it.
Guess the first question would be 'Is it working for anyone with a 5S'.
If it is I guess a trip to the Genius Bar is in order.

Apple has not made any statements about why they removed that feature. Speculation is prohibited. However, the fact that there is a new feature that allows you to raise the phone to make a recording in iMessages may be related.

  • Will Apple repair an ipod? sound does not work with headphones.

I had this iPod for only a few months.  I plugged in my headphones one day and only heard a crackling sound. Is this repairable? I have not damaged it or dropped it since owning the device.

    - Have you tried other headphones?
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If the iPod (or the Apple provided headphones) are defective and not abused, Apple will exchange it at no cost.
